Hi Critter I was so sad to hear about your baby son in your first pregnancy. My son was born alive at 20 weeks in my first pregnancy, his lungs were too small to carry him forward so I know the pain of going to the Council office and signing your child's birth and death certificates.

Oh dear Rufus! I can't remember whether you have an early scan to look forward to for some reassurance? Are you bleeding?

I rang my GP when I had a concern and they referred me to the local EPU. If it's too bad to wait until morning then try ringing 111 and they may refer you or tell you to go to A&E Rufus

Rufus200 · 23/02/2017 19:28

nanny I've got a c-section scar that was burning earlier so maybe it has implanted near my uterine scar and is why I'm feeling it more. Hadn't thought of that.

Not bad enough to bother EPU and trying to get a screaming DS in his cot.

NannyOggsKnickers · 23/02/2017 19:47

Rufus mine has been really achey. I don't know about you but my insides are still a bit weirdly gassy after the section. I've had weird period cramps on and off for the last month and some back pain. My midwife said she had similar in her pregnancy after a section. Fingers crossed for you.

MoominMama22 · 23/02/2017 19:58

Sorry to hear that tiny, and critter I'm glad MN was good support. I met such wonderful friends on MN birth board last time and so many of them had or have since gone through early and late losses it makes me feel extraordinarily lucky that I've not been through it, but instead of making me overly anxious about all the what-ifs I think it's made me want to appreciate pregnancy at every stage, not take it for granted but not hide it or stress about it either. What will be will be and there's nothing we can do really is there. I refuse to deny this bean a bit of excitement whether or not they stick around. Does that make any sense?

Hope people always feel comfortable sharing MC stories basically and shouldn't worry that it is scary for others to hear.

Sorry massive ramble there. rufus and nanny that's so interesting re CS and pain, wasn't mentioned to me at any point but makes perfect sense that the blinding pain was implantation or stretching of scar. Outer scar doesn't hurt but feels like internal one does at times. Hmm hmm!

Babycarmen · 23/02/2017 20:19

emvy I know the feeling - I had a scan last Friday at 5+6 and had an empty sac - not even a yolk sac. Back again on Tuesday for another scan and it's honestly the longest 11 days of my life. Especially with having brown/pink spotting the past few days. My heads all over the place! The only thing that's getting me through is the fact I'm sooooo nauseous that has to be a good sign right?

DancingUnicorn · 23/02/2017 20:22

Is anyone else using kings in se London? I got details of my scan through early last week but still not heard about booking in appt. Any idea when I should expect something?! Will be 7 weeks tomorrow.

emvy · 23/02/2017 20:34

It's so scary isn't it Babycarmen. I wish I'd never had the scan in one sense as I'd be none the wiser and wouldn't be in limbo for 11 days but then also reassuring to know that other than missing heartbeat, other things look ok. Did they give you any indication of what their thoughts were? I keep coming back to having been told they should hear a heartbeat when I've read so many people haven't heard a heartbeat at 6 and a half weeks. Wishing you all the best for Tuesday - here to chat whenever leading up to it for venting/worrying/hoping! Flowers

Babycarmen · 23/02/2017 20:40

envy well I also had a scan on the Monday at 5+2 and there was obviously just a sac then, they said on the Friday that it had doubled in size so they were happy with that and that it's quite normal not to see a yolk sac yet.. however she obviously thinks I'm stupid and don't remember her saying on the Monday that they were scanning me on Friday because they expected to see something more then!! So I've been worrying like mad. I also had a scan at 5+6 with DD2 and seen a lovely big yolk sac and I'm pretty sure of my dates this time too.

emvy · 23/02/2017 20:49

Oh gosh that's so difficult Babycarmen. There just seems to be so many variables in the early stages - so many possibilities of what they'll see. I just wish they wouldn't say things like that, that you end up turning over in your head repeatedly! If there's any possibility it's normal just don't tell us otherwise!! That all important heartbeat seems to be the only thing that is able to put people's minds at rest. I'm not sure of this but is it possible that as it's a different pregnancy that things may look different this time around?

BeanSprout79 · 23/02/2017 20:55

Hello all, can I join? My edd is 10th October. So very excited but also terrified :)

charmanar · 23/02/2017 21:06

dancingunicorn I'm at kings and heard about the MW appt the day before I got my scan letter, so maybe good to chase midwives house?
Finally started to feel nauseous and tired which I guess is good...off for an early night though, the smell and sound of my DH eating is making me feel worse 🤢

yellowfrontdoor · 23/02/2017 21:10

Is anyone else getting muscular/joint pain? A friend told me it can be hormones relaxing ligaments & muscles. Wondering if she was making it up to make me feel better!
I couldn't sleep last night, it was really painful Confused

MoominMama22 · 23/02/2017 21:10

Take heart that they can also be out with their dates by a fair bit, i had my first scan (after bad cramps made them suspect ectopic) and there was a yolk sac and a heart beat, they were expecting me to be about 7 weeks but she measured and said it was "extremely early, 5 weeks if not earlier" even with my limited knowledge I did think I wouldn't expect heartbeat so early, yes turns out when they scanned me again they re dated (and that first scan I would have been 6 weeks.) everything is just so small and hard to see and to measure acurately I think

Allykatz · 23/02/2017 21:10

DancingUnicorn I have had my scan appt through last week but no other appts scheduled. I self referred as it's my 2nd and didn't want to waste GP'S time. I'm Kingston!

TippetyTapWriter · 23/02/2017 21:11

Re CS I had cramps last week that I felt mostly in my back and in a burning line about where my scar is. I'm also guessing I've got some adhesions etc from the CS so maybe it will be more uncomfortable this time round as everything gets moved around a bit?

Really feeling for those waiting for scans. Hope you get good news soon xx

DancingUnicorn · 23/02/2017 21:14

Thanks ally and charmanar. I'm tempted to chase, but already chased the initial self referral (as theirs website said you'd hear writhing 3 days!) so don't want to be in their bad books before I even visit!! But would love a date to countdown to!!

MoominMama22 · 23/02/2017 21:15

Hi beansprout

NannyOggsKnickers · 23/02/2017 21:20

Tippety That's good to know. I was slightly worried that things feel different this time. But then my body is different. I often forget that the line goes inside as well! Blush

Zookeeper73 · 23/02/2017 21:25

Thinking of you babycarmen and emvy, hope the time goes quickly until your next scans and that they are good news Flowers

Welcome beansprout! I can't believe how many people are on this thread now.

I'm off back to the GP this morning to get blood test results and hopefully get referred for an early scan if the bloods are good. Still been cramping and spotting (3 weeks now) so fingers crossed that all is ok

BeanSprout79 · 23/02/2017 21:35

Thank you for the kind welcome. This will be my first baby but 2nd pregnancy so really hoping this one is going to stick.

It's so nice to see so many people are expecting, congrats to everyone. I was born in October too so my baby might be born on my b'day!

I don't feel as pregnant as last time as I had loads more symptoms then, just waiting for my my apt nxt week and then my 12 week scan. How did some of you get early scans? I asked to have an early one due to mmc in Nov but they won't give me one :(

MoominMama22 · 23/02/2017 21:41

Sorry you had a loss beansprout, an early scan isn't always a blessing. If its inconclusive because it's too early you will be worrying more. Try to stay positive no reason this baby won't be sticky! Smile
They gave me an early scan because they needed to check if it was ectopic due to crippling crappy, side splitting pain. I am very glad it was late enough to see heart beat because otherwise I would be a bag of nerves which is the situation some here are now in. Sad

MoominMama22 · 23/02/2017 21:42

*crampy not crappy, but it was crappy!
😂

abcdemma · 23/02/2017 22:16

yellow it's true about the joint/muscle thing. We make/release extra Relaxin in pregnancy which means our joints are softer etc, I'm guessing to prepare us to accommodate a growing baby Smile

BeanSprout79 · 23/02/2017 22:28

Thank you MoominMamma22 and I suppose you're right, I would feel awful if I didn't hear or see anything. Hope your scan goes well Smile

Am defo trying to stay more relaxed this time but it is hard until I see LO on the screen and hear the heartbeat.

Man, I'm soooo tired, hoping to feel less tired soon.

Wishing everyone sweet dreams :)
