So I've developed a food aversion that's really really upset me - I can't stand the sight of chocolate!!! Literally seeing a bar of chocolate makes me retch! I used to love chocolate and Easter isn't far away!!!

TippetyTapWriter · 22/02/2017 08:32

Debs, that sounds rough!

Sorry to everyone with worrying symptoms. Fingers crossed everything's fine.

I'm also struggling to fit in my jeans. Just bloating I know as I'm only 6 weeks but have already bought a belly band!! Wearing it at home with my jeans unbuttoned. Have to button them up if I go out or they fall down even with the band (so glam!) so I'm a bit sceptical about how much use it'll be when my bump starts for real. Stupidly got rid of almost all my maternity clothes from last time, but they were all horrible anyway.

boxesoffrogs · 22/02/2017 09:04

Oh no debs! That is a real shame. You will just have to make up for it later on.

Hope all of you who have worries are feeling better and more positive this morning.

Tippety, I am the same with the bloating, except it seems to be all over, literally from my ribs downwards, look like I have eaten several three course dinners in a very short space of time.

Got a GP appointment this afternoon, but scared! What do I say? What will they say? Why am I panicking about this?!

ThatGirl82 · 22/02/2017 09:05

Hi all,

Sorry to hear some of you have symptoms you are worried about, I hope you all get reassurance that all is well soon.

I never considered how anxious I would feel when I got pregnant, I really just thought I'd be happy and that's it. I am constantly googling symptoms/lack of symptoms and sometimes convince myself this pregnancy is definitely not going to work out.

We are going to book an early scan for 8 weeks but even just over two weeks away feels so far ahead.

I wonder if I will ever just relax and enjoy it Sad.

doomkittycleo · 22/02/2017 09:16

BoxesofFrogs don't expect much from the GP, they will just ask you re your dates and refer you to the midwife. Won't do any tests or anything at this stage. Might ask if it was planned and how you are feeling, but that's it.

Cath1212 · 22/02/2017 09:41

@ThatGirl82 I know me too! I am turning into a right worrier!

Hope everyone who is suffering with symptoms are holding up ok today

I am SO hungry all the time - it is going to be pretty hard to try and keep weight off at this rate!!

powerpuffer · 22/02/2017 10:27

Had my booking in appointment and will be under consultant led care but that's no surprise. My midwife is lovely so that's a relief!

krakentoast · 22/02/2017 11:06

Hi everyone, I haven't checked in for a while! My midwife appointment is still a week and a half away, when I will be 9 weeks - jealous of everyone who gets theirs sooner. Feels like this trimester is going on forever!

Sorry to hear about everyone's grim symptoms. I am fully joining the hungry club. I am constantly either absolutely starving, or feeling sick at the thought of eating anything at all. Also the bloating is no joke - I've already had to buy jeans in the next size up! (At least I really hope it's just bloating...) Also, I have quite low blood pressure generally anyway, but it seems to have plummeted - I've fainted twice, and at the moment I can't do any exercise, even walking up a hill, without feeling like I'm going to black out. Argh! The Ovia app keeps telling me "it's so important to stay active and do lots of exercise in pregnancy" and I just want to punch it in its nonexistent face because I feel incapable of doing anything at all.

This is turning into a novel but I also want to say ThatGirl you are not alone in your anxiety. The worry is constant. I really hope it gets a bit easier after the 12 week scan.

Rufus200 · 22/02/2017 11:43

thatgirl I spent every day of DS's pregnancy worrying. I started to feel better when I could feel him kicking but then had a very scary bleed at 23wks and after that never relaxed. In fact I still worry about him every nap time and overnight. He has a breathing monitor under his mattress.
I'm a mess at the moment with anxiety.

Still only getting 1-2wks at 16DPO on CB.

How is everyone with young DC coping? DS was up 3-4.30am last night and I am a walking zombie today. DH was snoring his head off when I finally got back into bed but I let him sleep as he had work today. So I didn't sleep until he got up for work at 7am, then DS got up 1hr later.

emvy · 22/02/2017 12:17

It's nice to keep reading everyone's positive messages to keep my spirits up. Spoke to the GP and am being referred to the epu for a scan. Fingers crossed that happens before the weekend or I will spend the entire weekend an absolute bag of nerves (even more so than usual). Trying to remind myself that I can't change anything but it's the not knowing that's driving me mad. Let's hope tomorrow brings a more positive outlook!

punkpuffin · 22/02/2017 12:19

I was supposed to see the midwife today, I wrote the appointment down as 12.45. Dh rang yesterday to confirm as I get a bit panicky that I've written appointments down wrong. He confirmed 12.45. I've just had a phone call saying I've missed the appointment and it was 11.45. the normal midwife is on leave and gp sergery doesn't have a number for the one covering so the best they could do was rebook for off March which was her next available appointment. I'll be about 13 weeks and inwont have even been booked in. I've been a bit worried about this pregnancy and was looking forward to some reassurance. I'm in a foul mood now.

MoominMama22 · 22/02/2017 12:37

Hello to newbies!
Thanks for all the sympathies everyone , my back is much better this morning think I was overreacting and it's just normal pregnancy aches.

For anyone also suffering, I got relief by lying flat with my knees up towards chest and legs slightly splayed! Hmm bye bye dignity.

emvy after a bleed I would always call, it might be fibroids causing the bleeding. Probably harmless but do tell them. Did you cramp? I'm terrified of sex since cramping pains nearly made me pass out.Im not even going to consider it again for a few more weeks. Feel too sick anyway. Hope your mind gets put at ease soon and you don't have to wait Til next week.
glitter that does sound like a satisfying toilet trip!

For all those bloated and with bumps already!? Amazing! You must be slim ladies... I look no different, still got saggy tummy from having DD so it's harder to tell.
puffin that is so annoying! Did you tell them you had rang and confirmed?? Feel for you after being mucked about with appts last time.

abcdemma · 22/02/2017 12:50

Feel like I've been run over today. My breakfast is trying it's best to leave my body but to no avail! Off to sit and retch in a corner in soft play half term hell soon!

Luna4689 · 22/02/2017 12:58

I am exhausted😩 haven't done a lot other than come to uni today but I feel like I've been awake for days. Bloating is very very obvious for me now and someone at uni did comment!!! Only 5+7 so almost 6wks & hoping the bloating dies down before I look 6mths!!

Thankfully haven't had any nausea other than at night which doesn't affect me when usually I'm led down in a dark room haha.

I'm a bag of nerves as it's my first and never been through the process, my booking app is on the 9th march when I'll be 8wks - will they look for a heartbeat then?? I honestly have no idea what is going to happen.

MoominMama22 · 22/02/2017 13:11

rufus how old is DS? Don't know if my DD counts as "young DC" she is 22 months and has been an absolute nightmare since Ive been preg. everything has become a battle and she has started waking in the night which she had well and truly grown out of. Not sure if it's just a regression or if she actually senses something already and is trying to make my life so much harder Sad

abcdemma you're a brave woman! Good luck. Don't vom in the ball pit..

luna sorry wish I could be more help. I can't remember if they look for hb but don't think so, from what I remember they just go over medical notes with you and at second appointment take bloods. I felt the wait for my scan first time round was torturously long.

sj3rram1 · 22/02/2017 13:12

I'm getting frustrated that haven't heard from
Midwife yet 😔 8+1 and referral was done by gp surgery 3 weeks ago. Have chased them and they said will chase midwife. Jealous of you that are having your appointments or at least have dates haha 😂

Hope everyone is feeling ok

Anotherminime · 22/02/2017 13:15

punkpuffin oh no that's so frustrating to miss your booking in apt. Pregnancy does stupid things to your brain, I missed appointments for the first time when I was pregnant last time!

I'd speak to your GP again, they must be able to tell you who to contact if you need a midwife between now and March! Usually it's the midwife clinic at the hospital you're giving birth at. Or you could maybe just try the hospital directly? Or alternatively my midwife always had the general number for midwife services on her answer phone message so even if she's away it might be worth calling her. You don't want to wait till 13 weeks to get booked in as then you'll miss the window for testing for your 12 week scan (some of the tests need to be done between 11 and 13 weeks). That is unless they give you then scan date separately and then I guess it's not a huge issue.

thisismadness77 · 22/02/2017 13:16

I've given myself the day off sick. Just had two hours kip after school run. Now cooking lunch and watching Dinner Date. Needed it!!

charmanar · 22/02/2017 13:23

punkpuffin oh no thats so annoying! I can't believe they really have no space they can squeeze you in until then Hmm
rufus my DS is 15 months, he wants to be carried everywhere, which I don't think I'll be able to do after another few weeks. I had SPD last pregnancy, so could barely walk by myself, let alone carry someone else with me! I've not got that awful fatigue yet though - when it hits DH will be doing all the night wakings (still up once or twice a night :( )
luna I'm afraid the booking in appointment is super boring, they don't listen to the HB until about 16 weeks I'm afraid (although you obviously get to hear it at the first scan)

Is anyone else on Babycentre birth board as well? I met such a lovely group of ladies through there last time. But think this long mumsnet thread is a bit more 'me' somehow!

Luna4689 · 22/02/2017 13:34

Okay thanks all! I'm so panicked and stressed that I won't hear a HB. I have no idea why, I guess it's just firs time nerves!

Anotherminime · 22/02/2017 13:59

luna like others have said, sadly the booking in appointment is really dull. It's just a form filling exercise plus they take your bloods. They ask you questions about you and your DH's medical history etc.

You'll get to hear the heart beat at the 12 week scan, then it's another long wait unfortunately. Some midwives will check at 16 weeks, but it's not recommended at that stage as it's a bit hit and miss as to whether they can actually find it. So it's may not be till the next scan at 20 weeks that you get to hear it again.

I was frustrated in my first pregnancy at how little contact you get with midwives in early pregnancy. Its hard waiting, but all I can say is try and stay relaxed about it as much as you can.

Rufus200 · 22/02/2017 14:03

DS has just turned one. He will STTN for 2 nights in a row, then be up 3 times the next night. There is no pattern. I mostly do know when I'm in for a bad night and he has his 4th front molar trying to break through at the moment, which is obviously bothering him a lot.

Luna4689 · 22/02/2017 15:02

Thanks anotherminime. Does my DP need to come to the booking appointment with me?
I know it would help with medical history etc but whether or not he is really needed?

TippetyTapWriter · 22/02/2017 15:27

Rufus, my ds is nearly 22 months and still not sleeping through often, maybe once or twice a week. He's also a really light sleeper and often wakes up if I so much as walk past his room. Oh and he's suddenly decided he's afraid of babies!! So it will be fun in October, though I'm hoping he grows out of it by then... No idea how I'm going to cope. Have 7 steps up to our house so already worrying how we're all going to get in and out of house! And I couldn't even bend over by the third trimester or get up and down from the floor. How am I going to play with ds or get his nappy on!! But then ds was breech with his head right in my rib cage which might explain why I was so uncomfortable?! I hope so anyway!

PlayOnWurtz · 22/02/2017 15:38

I've spent today snapping at everyone. I'm having some horrendous cramps, worse than period pain, no bleeding though but I'm expecting that it will appear soon. The pain is too much for there not to be.
