boxesoffrogs google the Hook effect in pregnancy. Your tests will start to get lighter as your hcg increases!

emvy · 04/03/2017 09:20

I know it's really hard! Focus on those positive symptoms! I've given up googling Grin basically googling pregnancy stuff because I just freak myself out. Just sticking to mn.

I'm okay thank you Smile it's been a tough week. So torn between thinking positively and getting my hopes up, and then trying to prepare myself for the worst. I have a few ideas of things I'd like to do if it's bad news like go to a spa for the weekend and book a holiday in the sun. It's hard to see beyond Monday though! Thank you for asking it's very thoughtful Smile

boxesoffrogs · 04/03/2017 09:33

Yep, I am going to have a self imposed google ban! No good can come of it, I have decided. No point worrying until there is evidence for it, right?

I have everything firmly crossed for you emvy, and I am so amazed by your strength. Seriously hope you get great news on mon! Do you have anything nice planned this weekend?

Always practical to have a contingency plan isn't it? I have just been going through the calendar for the next few months and thinking of all the things that are planned, just in case. Got a few weddings coming up in the summer and if this doesn't work out, then holiday over Easter, I could also do with some sun!

Potentially considering moving back to dp's home country, and we were thinking about perhaps doing it over the summer, but now sort of stuck in limbo until we know for sure if this is actually going to happen. Feel a bit in limbo!

SophieGiroux · 04/03/2017 09:39

Presh - I've been watching the replacement. Did bring back some memories as I remembered once I'd announced I was pregnant with dd1 I was treated differently. Left out of decisions, not informed about things, for easily replaceable.
Love Vicky McLure, as soon as I knew she was in it I knew it would be good.

emvy · 04/03/2017 10:59

Exactly. And even after evidence of it you just start googling that evidence potentially not going to plan and end up just being equally as stressed. Best just not to know, anxiety helps no one.

Aww thank you boxes, I'm not even sure it's strength, just one of those situations you just live through in a bit of a bubble! I think even if it's not meant to be I will go into future pregnancies very differently. I've learnt a lot about myself and how I deal with things this week and will definitely try not to get ahead of myself in future. Unfortunately a weekend of sport (on the tv that my OH just has to watch) and a wardrobe that needs to be built are keeping any exciting plans from happening this weekend.

Definitely sounds like a good idea to focus on those events you have coming up - something to aim for regardless. That's my thinking also Smile do you have nice things planned this weekend?

I can certainly understand you feeling in limbo. Like you say, just keep busy and make that decision when you know for sure. These first 12 weeks are so tough without adding pressure of potentially moving.

boxesoffrogs · 04/03/2017 17:49

Yep you are right emvy, it's not worth the stressing at an already stressful time. Staying positive and practical is the way forward.

I have just been out for a three hour dog walk with my mum in the sunshine, stopped off for lunch in a country pub, it was all very lovely. Very nearly ended up telling her, but still think the more people who know, the more it will jinx it, mad I know. Only told my sister and a two very close friends so far.

I hope you are having a nice relaxing Saturday, as far as watching sport and assembling furniture can be Grin

Anotherminime · 04/03/2017 17:52

How has everyone's Saturdays been? It's been a lovely day here (well it's chucking it down now, but the morning was fab!), so we went walking. My DD splashing in puddles for the first time, which was lovely. Also a productive afternoon doing DIY.

doomkitty did you make it to Val Thoren ok? I hope you enjoy the skiing and the fresh mountain air blows away the nausea!

Anotherminime · 04/03/2017 18:01

boxesoffrogs that sounds like a lovely way to spend the day. I keep on nearly telling people too, it's just so hard to not say anything especially when it's at the fore front of our minds so much!!

emvy · 04/03/2017 18:28

Ah I'm glad you had a lovely day boxes. I hope you're feeling more chilled. I ended up ditching the jobs and going for tea and cake with my cousin and Goddaughter at my favourite coffee shop so I also had a lovely Saturday day in the end!

Definitely with you on the nearly telling people. The only thing actually stopping me is my OH wanting to keep it quiet otherwise I'd have blabbed to my close group of girlfriends already. So difficult!

rumplestiltskins · 04/03/2017 18:36

Has anyone got a mini bump yet? I feel mahoosive!
I'm the same size as I was when I was 4 months with DD1 Shock

emwithme · 04/03/2017 18:56

Can someone please pass me a grip.

I had no symptoms Thursday/Friday and have had some intermittent brown spotting (well, not even spotting, just a little rust-coloured discharge when I wipe), then today my boobs weren't sore when I woke up so I obviously went straight to "well I'm about to lose this lentil". Even though I wanted to throw up halfway round Asda seriously, people, soap is 12p, buy some and have felt so queasy since, I'm struggling to get my head out of "something is going wrong".

And logically I know that if something is going wrong, there's nothing I can do at this stage (am 6+5) and that it obviously wasn't Meant To Be, but emotionally I just want to get to a point where everything is OK. I spoke to a friend about this feeling and she said it's entirely normal, and it's just preparing you for the next 20-odd years Grin .

And then I managed to fall asleep on the settee and DH just woke me up with the World's Loudest Sneeze (and I am so tired, and even though I'm tired I can't bloody sleep at night, and when I do sleep I am having the strangest dreams and apparently running a marathon, my legs are going so much!)

This growing a person lark is bloody exhausting!

ThatGirl82 · 04/03/2017 19:08

Hi Em, sorry you're feeling anxious. I have been reading about how symptoms can fluctuate, and as you are still feeling queasy then I'm sure all is ok. Also, the advice is that spotting is usually ok, but maybe call your midwife on Monday to see if they recommend you go in to be checked?

I have been feeling really down today, not really sure why, but like you, am super tired but then struggling to sleep. Way too much going around my head.

Fingers crossed all is absolutely fine... And here's hoping the next few weeks go quickly for us all!

X

emvy · 04/03/2017 19:15

emwithme we all have days like those. Completely normal! The "what will be will be" thing never makes a difference to how you're feeling though - it makes no difference that you can't control it, you're panicking because you want it so badly and already have a little attachment to the growing blip in your tummy. The only thing that makes me feel better is a new day! So I would advise - tv that takes your mind off it, soak in the bath (but not so long that you start to think about it again) and bed! Tomorrow is a whole new day Smile

TippetyTapWriter · 04/03/2017 19:56

rumplestiltskins yes, massive here too, already in maternity stuff and only 7+6. It's my second so I guess that explains it! Though I'm also a bit, um, blocked up, which might also explain things!

I'm also up and down with the anxiety. I just don't feel pregnant though I do have a few symptoms like sore boobs and needing to pee all the time. I guess I remember pregnancy as being like the third trimester so this early stage feels so vague in comparison. Also I'd had 3 scans by 9 weeks last time and already felt like I knew my little bean. This time I feel so disconnected from it all. I feel stupidly guilty that I'm not more 'bonded' with this bean even though I know it's sensible self-preservation not to be (don't get me wrong, I'd still be absolutely distraught if anything happened). My mood is all over the place!

88claire · 04/03/2017 21:02

Has anyone experienced generalised aching in the stomach, groin, Upper legs and lower back?

I'm really uncomfortable and can't take paracetamol as I'm allergic!

Is there any recommendations for pain relief other than paracetamol? I usually take ibuprofen but obviously can't take that!

Emberblu · 04/03/2017 21:20

88claire I did quote a lot a few weeks ago and found a hot water bottle was the only thing that gave me enough relief to sleep, so worth a try?

88claire · 04/03/2017 21:27

Ember

Thanks! I'm sure it's things stretching which is probably a good sign but I'm so anxious and cramps were the first sign I lost the last one.

I'll try a hot water bottle, very good idea Smile

Feeling generally a bit rubbish and sorry for myself at the moment. Not sure how I'm gonna cope at work next week.

Bring on the second trimester!

BrioLover · 05/03/2017 09:01

Morning everyone! Weird change in symptoms here - have gone from feeling mega nauseous and retching in the morning to feeling extremely hungry, but only being able to eat little and often.

Bit anxious about it, and my booking in appt isn't scheduled till I'm 13 weeks, and no scan date yet... will probably book a private scan this week just to see if it's all ok. The booking in took so long last time that I'm not really up for spending 2 hours with the midwife for no reason...

emvy · 05/03/2017 09:25

My symptoms change so much everyday brio. Sometimes I "feel" pregnant and other days I just don't! I'm trying to not think about it too much.

When will you be 13 weeks? That seems late for a booking in to then have to schedule your scan after! I can understand that's annoying. What stage are you at now?

TippetyTapWriter · 05/03/2017 11:23

brio my symptoms change all the time too. I am having a morning so far of not feeling at all pregnant! 13 weeks does sound late for booking in as the scan has to be performed between 12-14 weeks. I guess they know what they're doing?!

I'm also considering a private scan but google so far has only come up with a My Ultra Baby clinic near us and they've got some terrible reviews. Does anyone know of anywhere in east Kent?

MoominMama22 · 05/03/2017 13:53

Apologies if I've missed any big news. I just wanted to pop on to wish everyone all the best for scans tomorrow, I know emvy has had an anxious wait I'm not sure if there was others booked for tomorrow too. Thinking of you emvy Brew

emvy · 05/03/2017 16:04

Aww thank you moomin that means a lot Smile I've been a nervous wreck today and been keeping myself busy cleaning the house from top to bottom! I'm having a "not feeling pregnant" day which I'm not sure is self preservation or genuine. I really do hope I don't have to bow out of the group tomorrow.

Anotherminime · 05/03/2017 16:45

Another one who will be thinking of you tomorrow emvy I hope it all goes well.

Otter16 · 05/03/2017 16:46

Good luck tomorrow emvy thinking of you X

xxmissbrightsidexx · 05/03/2017 17:00
