Hi Luna, sorry to hear work are being difficult.

You are allowed to take time off sick, was it a manager saying horrible things or other people? If it's other people then can you complain to your manager about them?

Some people are just horrible, try not to let them get to you although I know that's easier said than done.

Rachieg88 · 01/03/2017 17:53

So I have a question! Any idea what I can do about the Tash that is growing on my top lip?!! I used to use jolen bleach but guessing that's off limits now?! Blush

Luna4689 · 01/03/2017 17:53

It was other people on a group on a social media site that my manager saw but didn't comment. I've asked for a meeting Saturday because I'm not going to be dealing with it!

On top of work drama, I have sickness, tiredness, huge bloating and have been informed there is a possibility I can be having twins! A lot to take in all at once haha.

Rachieg88 · 01/03/2017 17:54

Ps sorry to hear so many people feeling down Flowers

pollybythesea · 01/03/2017 18:07

hey everyone, just checking in after a while, thinking of everyone else who is feeling down or sick. nausea kicked in for me big time last week at 6+3 and i was in bed for 4 days. the exhaustion is next level this week at 7+3 - like ive flown half way round the world.

i am self employed but can only manage half days and getting quite behind, so trying to put the hours in whenever i can find the strength. i normally have bags of energy so this is a total shock to my system. i've been finding the isolation pretty hard as im sure many of you are too, not wanting to tell people & constantly living in fear of being sick means im not making any plans. cant wait for this phase to be over & spring to get here! sorry i didnt intend for this to turn out so moany!

PS - all those websites which say "feeling fatigued? try a brisk walk to wake yourself up" ... no, just no.

PPS - anyone else totally gone off cake?? can barely type the word without heaving...

PPPS - we've got this ladies!

donkey86 · 01/03/2017 18:21

rachieg88 I use this www.argos.co.uk/product/4594907 it's great, swipes off all the hair and doesn't leave stubble like a razor would.

88claire · 01/03/2017 18:37

So morning sickness has hit... In the evening before a run of night shifts. Excellent! Wonder how long the food poisoning line will work..... 🤢

I work in theatres too so can't get out easily if I need to.. Aghhh!

yellowfrontdoor · 01/03/2017 18:45

88claire I have horrendous claustrophobia-induced anxiety & you describing your work made me take a few deep breaths! Shock

my main symptom right now is bloating... my mum told me I looked 7 months gone already, cheers mum!

Also, I feel like I pretty much have no appetite. I'm not feeling particularly nauseous but when I get hungry I need to eat & get the rage if I'm made to wait always been a bit like that though! Grin

88claire · 01/03/2017 19:12

Yellow

I'm with you on the bloating... I look a lot further than I am!

Someone once vomited in their theatre cap in the middle of a long theatre case... 😂

I've eaten so feeling much better. I'm gonna take some water biscuits to snack on to try and keep the sickness away!

charmanar · 01/03/2017 19:21

88clair will you be all scrubbed up? I had water biscuits in my scrubs pockets today! I couldn't spend a shift in theatre right now, I'd faint...good luck!!!!
luna what do you do for a long living, can you alter your hours at all?

Squeezed my boob in the bath this evening and some milk came out. Argh!!!!

ppleasebob · 01/03/2017 19:37

Evening all!

Had a bit of a scare today as was bleeding slightly and cramping. Took myself up to EPU and all was ok thankfully! Saw a little blob with its heartbeat - measuring a few days behind what I thought, but I wasn't completely sure anyway - conceived straight after coming off pill so don't know when I ovulated!
Sorry to hear some of your sad news, hope you get a sticky soon!

MerlinsBeard87 · 01/03/2017 19:53

Had an early scan today at what I thought was 8 weeks but apparently measuring 9. I don't have my booking appointment for another 2 weeks, and so by this calculation I would be due my 12 week scan very soon after, but it's not even booked in yet. Do I tell the midwife I seem to be one week ahead? I know the 12 week scan will give me my proper estimated due date so she might not want to hear about this early private scan?

88claire · 01/03/2017 20:02

Charmanar

No thank goodness I'm children's recovery so I just circulate on nights but sometimes gets a bit hairy as its emergencies at night so they don't like you leaving!

I can't imagine being scrubbed... Would be awful!!

What sort of nursing do you do?

Luna4689 · 01/03/2017 20:15

I'm a barmaid in a restaurant so I'm a waitress also, it's 12 hour shifts. I ask to alter but there isn't enough staff to be able to help with cover!

I'm also incredibly bloated, my mother thinks I'm having twins!!

ThatGirl82 · 01/03/2017 21:09

That's good you have asked for a meeting Luna. I'd hate to work somewhere bitchy like that, must be awful.

Hope you start to feel better soon!

charmanar · 01/03/2017 21:11

88clair I'm a junior doctor, working in a&e at the moment 😱 it's quite hard feeling sorry for poorly people when you want to vomit on them! 🤢😂 I guess most jobs are pretty difficult to navigate with pregnancy, it's not easy being a working woman and trying to raise a family eh? Although wouldn't swap with men for the world. Hope everyone gets a good nights sleep, I've made it up past 9 tonight!!

88claire · 01/03/2017 21:36

Charmanar

Wow that's amazing, how do you manage your crazy shifts with early pregnancy? I guess I'm better at work it takes my mind off the 'what ifs'!
I loved A&E back in my student days but it was exhausting expecially as you spend half your time wrestling with grumpy toddlers and convincing children to take any medicine!

At least wearing scrubs will help hide the bump for a few extra weeks! I made the mistake of telling people at work last time when I miscarried so I'm keeping it quiet this time...!

SophieGiroux · 01/03/2017 22:31

Can I use decongestants during pregnancy?
Decongestant medicines (e.g. Sudafed®, Galpseud®) often contain pseudoephedrine which helps to relieve a blocked nose by causing the blood vessels to narrow, thereby reducing swelling of the nasal membranes and mucus production. Decongestants are not recommended for use at any stage of pregnancy as they could also reduce blood flow in the placenta and to the baby.
Info from bumps website (official website endorsed by the NHS). Just thought I'd post as there was confusion over whether sudafed was safe.

Luna4689 · 02/03/2017 00:27

Thank you thatgirl!!

I've been in a lot of pain with cramps today and the hospital are unsure whether it's my body adjusting and womb stretching to make room for a baby or whether im miscarrying. So far had no bleeding so keeping my fingers and toes crossed!
Think I'm going to go to the hospital tomorrow and insist I have a scan or something to see whether there's a heartbeat

yoyozozo · 02/03/2017 07:10

Oh Luna sorry to hear that - that must be scary. Fingers crossed for you today.
So pleased to see news of positive scans, though sorry some people are feeling awful. I am worried that I don't feel awful! I think I am 5+2 and I don't seem to have much by way of morning sickness. And so now I am worried that my other symptoms are not strong. Would sickness normally have hit by now?
Hope everyone has a good day x

doomkittycleo · 02/03/2017 07:11

yoyozozo my morning sickness only hit on week 6. You might get it yet.

leannejade · 02/03/2017 07:11

I'm with @yoyo - besides having backache and cramps (and sore boobs) I have no other symptoms. No sickness. I'm 6+6. Should I call the doctor, etc? I don't know if this is right and it's worrying me.

doomkittycleo · 02/03/2017 07:15

LeanneJade, unless you're in a lot of pain and bleeding you're probably fine. Some people are just lucky and don't get any sickness.

boxesoffrogs · 02/03/2017 07:15

leanne I am 7+2 and apart from the odd nausea, I have had zero sickness. Just the same as you, backache, dull cramps and sore boobs... I am starting to get worried as well.

confusedat23 · 02/03/2017 07:32

All those ladies not having sickness yet please do not worry!! When i saw the doctor the other day about possible Ectopic they said proper sickness is not expected until approx 8 weeks when the placenta starts kicking in as its related to that! Even then though i know people that have had no sickness anyways! If you are someone that does not get travel sick or sea sick etc you are less likely to have strong sickness also apparently Hmm
