Can't blame you tbh, MrsJW, I'm not keen to have that nct bed either, even if it changed model! Besides our bed is rather high, so I'm worried about the 'rolling' into our bed. I'll be quite happy lifting baby out and giving a little cuddle, then starting bf. How was work after your lovely holiday?

Been to occupational health doctor today and was a lot less nervous than 4 weeks ago. She had had a chat with my manager and they had said that alternative duties could not be found for me. Also with my back and hip pain now, it would be too risky too. And manager had reasoned that the drive (at least an hour) would also be too stressful, etc etc,... so I won't be going back there before mat leave starts. I'll be meeting with the other manager tomorrow and we will see how their offer on alternative duties is (knowing my manager she will have some plan or idea).

Until end March I will work max 1-2 days per week. From April, we will see how it pans out, but I may ask to spread the hours over more days, and perhaps find a way to attend that aqua antenatal class they run in my gym on Wednesday morning! Quite looking forward to that!

savagehk · 13/02/2017 22:55

esmes apparently it used to be a 'thing' that whenever you changed a nappy you 'held the baby out' which is the best position to stimulate a poo (if there is one waiting) so you can train that reflex practically from birth.

When we started using the Bumbo I decided I certainly agreed with the bum-down-legs-up thing... helping.... things along! So figured we might as well try on the potty instead of in the Bumbo. The Ikea slightly-more-expensive-potty has a high back so worked well (www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/childrens-ikea-products/baby/changing-tables-nursing/lockig-childrens-potty-white-green-art-60193128/)

WishIWasSleeping · 14/02/2017 00:00

Shini - sounds like you had a full day of being at the MW like I did last week! Much fun!
Mine have finally agreed to let me be a little after my appt today - I know it's all for the best but I'm glad she believed I understood pre-eclampsia signs and that my bp is always on the higher side even before being pregnant. The thought of weekly appointments was doing nothing for my calm state of mind!

lullaby23 · 14/02/2017 01:50

Lansinoh is the best thing for dry lips in my experience.

Definitely not potty training DS before baby arrives as no doubt there will be all sorts of regressions as he adjusts to having a sibling. Also I don't want to be clearing up accidents after a CS with a newborn! However I do get the potty out before bath time every evening so he is familiar with it at least, sometimes he sits on it but no wees yet.

Brightsmoke · 14/02/2017 06:31

Glad all is ok Rasperry.

Also have my 28 week app this morning. No idea if I will be measured or not though. Also have to persuade them to give me another MatB1, because work managed to lose mine, so I'm now panicking my maternity leave won't be sorted before baby comes.

First day back at work for me after being signed off today, no idea how I will cope without a nap everyday!

RasperryInAMelon · 14/02/2017 08:00

Sorry - haven't had much chance to catch up on yesterday. We took a call late last night to say that DHs father was found passed away yesterday Sad

Going through a whole whirlwind of emotions right now and generally a bit of a mess... really don't feel like life is cutting us a break at the moment

lucieloos · 14/02/2017 09:42

Oh raspberry so sorry to hear that. You are having a tough time at the moment.

Good luck to all those being measured today. Just had mine and measuring exactly on target for 26 weeks. Right on the 50th percentile.

ClaireSunflower · 14/02/2017 09:56

Hope you are feeling better raspberry I've had to go to hospital myself yesterday and today because I've hardly felt the baby move at all over the weekend and yesterday.

I went into the maternal assessment unit yesterday and they strapped me up to a monitor for 30 mins told me the heartbeat was ok and to go home. I did but still not feeling enough movements and the baby is normally really active so gone back in this morning. They are referring me for a scan this afternoon but worryingly said it sounds like he has an ectopic heartbeat. Has anyone come across this before? I could hear it myself on the Doppler. It sounds like his heart keeps skipping a beat and goes really irregular Confused the midwife was almost dismissive and said it's probably nothing to worry about but I was in tears anyway... will see what they say at the scan later.

yellowismyfavourite · 14/02/2017 10:08

So sorry to hear your news raspberry
claire good luck with the scan and hope all goes well with everyone being measured today

RasperryInAMelon · 14/02/2017 10:13

Didn't think I'd be saying thanks for the well wishes two days on the trot.

Difficult situation as he hasn't seen his dad in about 7 years due to alcoholism - DH is just so angry, sad, confused etc - I guess there's no taking away that he was his dad and he has fond childhood memories. I just hate not knowing what to do for him. I just want to take the pain away.

Good luck to all those with measurements and appointments today!

Claire I hope everything goes well with your scan today and it's just baby being mischievous Flowers

Hugs Raspberry, Claire hope everything goes ok.

Mothercare's baby event has just started, lots of things on sale.

newbieho · 14/02/2017 10:30

Rasperry just being with DH helps a lot - listening, hand holding, hugs or giving him the time and space. It is difficult time but you are making a difference by being with him. You cannot turn back time or make the pain go away but you can accompany DH and it matters. Take care Star

rose7120 · 14/02/2017 10:39

I hope the scan goes well Claire. Thinking of you raspberry.

I have my first hospital antenatal class this eve. What better way of spending valentines than learning about the delights of birth!

MissMooMoo · 14/02/2017 10:52

Sending love raspberry I agree just being with DH is good for him.

claire crossing my fingers that the scan goes well. Glad that they have taken your concerns seriously.

Spam88 · 14/02/2017 11:03

I tried out my Tara Lee DVD yesterday, just did the gentle yoga relaxation one. It was good :) modifications on a lot of the poses for PGP as well which is really good (and has made it rather apparent why I was so sore after classes!).

Saw baby kick for the first time yesterday, so strange! My husbands away at the moment but I managed to catch it on video eventually - this baby really doesn't like to perform!

1004Rise · 14/02/2017 11:50

Hope it goes well today Claire hopefully it's just baby being mischievous!

Rasperry just being there for your DH will help Cake for you both!*

I'm feeling sorry for myself today, the heartburn is now making me sick, haven't slept properly the past two nights either. Decided to have a sick day because I'm no use to anyone. Gaviscon isn't touching it anymore Sad Have a doctor appointment this afternoon so hopefully I can get something to help.

I second the Lansinoh for dry lips... that stuff works miracles!
