Hello everyone!
According to my dates I am due 30 Aug but according to early dating scan I am currently 9 weeks and due Sep 6 or something. This will be DC2 and am feeling far more nauseous then previous pregnancy (mind, that was nearly 7 years ago) and have to force myself to eat and drink.

Anyone else on here considering a home birth? Am really interested to hear from people who have had one or thinking of it. My DC was born in a hospital after an incredibly long labour and mismanagement (was in Canada where birth is rather medicalised - not got anything against that, just think that some decisions definitely did not help), and am considering home birth this time around.

However, the home birth midwife contacted me this week and said she would see me at 20 weeks, which seems really late IMO. She said I could see Dr at 16 weeks, but I would rather get to meet her before I am half way through my pregnancy. Have tried calling her back but keep getting put on answerphone that then cuts me off.

Am getting a Panorma test/scan done next week so will post a pic as I didn't get given one at the early scan. I was apparently 7+1 and it just looked like a blob with a heartbeat, nothing like the lovely pics posted.

Amazing bumps and scan photos!

Thanks Hells! Your post has really reassured me. I did speak to someone from the EPU today, they said symptoms should come and go, as long as I haven't had any bleeding and no abnormal cramping which I haven't so for now will sit tight until my 12 week scan as at the moment they won't give me an early scan and I can't afford to pay for one around here.

Contemplating some maternity jeans soon too!

Travelgeek · 03/02/2017 14:02

I have embraced leggings the last couple of days so glad I'm not the only one feeling larger than normal. Amazingly I still weigh exactly the same as pre-BFP, though as I could have done with losing some weight beforehand it's no bad thing. Starting to think about maternity jeans, they look so much more comfortable. Any recommendations for where to shop? This is all new to me!

Loving all the beautiful scan pics too ladies.

flymo79 · 03/02/2017 14:05

Relieved for you ksk! And welcome titi. No home birth for me as am in Asia and it's not a thing here
Currently lying awake at 10pm listening to bloody fireworks (Chinese new year) almost weeping at how tired I am... At least dd hasn't woken up.
My nausea is 10 times worse when I'm tired.... Urrrgh

titihood · 03/02/2017 14:10

flymo79 put the earplugs in (so long as someone else is there to hear DD if she wakes)! I hear you about nausea and tiredness. I NEVER nap in the day but the last few weeks have been having a lay-down at 2:30pm and been going to bed at 10:30 (unheard of for me).

sugarplumfairy2010 · 03/02/2017 14:20

Next maternity jeans are good and you can often get them half price if you look on the clearance section on there website. We told people between 12-16 weeks last time but my oldest wasnt even two then so he didnt really know what was happening. They are 6 and 4 now so dont want them finding out from other people but want to makesure 20 week scan goes well before we tell them.

Pinkbottletop · 03/02/2017 14:28

Great scan pic, Hells!

Love all the good scan news! I had mine this morning. In my local hospital which I HATE. Unlike some of you they didn't spend time getting me a good picture. However, I am really early still at 7 weeks 4 days and so there's not so so much to see. My dates were spot on to what I'd thought so looks like I have a boxing day conception! Heartbeat strong and she said was so strong it was like it was singing! So I'm warmed by that.

Also got my 12 week scan on the 6th March where I will be 12 weeks exactly!! Very much looking forward to that.

I can't wait until I buy maternity clothes. I'm not going to until after my 12 week scan but getting dressed for work is such a nightmare now. I have to choose something that come noon won't show my gigantic bloated stomach and none of my trousers are comfortable anymore!

Travelgeek · 03/02/2017 14:35

Thanks sugar will take a look on their website.

Tilly2017 · 03/02/2017 14:50

So I have been liking into maternity pay in UK as I'm changing jobs in 2 weeks and as a result I don't qualify for statartory maternity pay but might be allowed maternity allowance.... so complicated

Pinkbottletop · 03/02/2017 18:44

Tilly I find it quite confusing too. I think I understand it now but I probably don't!

Ergh just was in another thread and some of the people on this site are so up their own ass. Unless you're a healthcare professional, don't treat your views as God. Even midwives get it wrong and recommendations always change. But my goodness, the judgement mothers get these days by each other is just awful. And everyone seems to know better. Unsolicited opinions can go f themselves

(apologies - clearly hormones)

WLMcI · 03/02/2017 18:55

Haha Pink I get that! Unsolicited advice is so rampant that one of my friends clearly posts on some Facebook posts about her son "Just to be clear, I'm not asking for advice on this. I am doing this my way and if it's not the way you did it, that's fine. I'm not you." Or words to that effect! Grin

It's wonderful to hear all the positive scan news Hells and Kk and Alice and others! I've been fretting recently re: the drop-off of symptoms, so the good news is most welcome. Haven't got a 12 week scan date yet, but have been warned they are running behind by a week or so, which will push it into first week of March Hmm. So I've booked an "early" private scan for the 15th, when I'll actually be a day off of 11 weeks anyway (although if the NHS comes through for me with a decent date I might cancel it). Can't wait for it; just having the appointment is helping to keep the anxiety at bay!

Dixiechick1991 · 03/02/2017 18:56

Got my scan letter this morning. On the date (Valentine's Day!) By LMP I'd be 12+3 but according to early scan measurement I'll only be 10+5
Just wondered will I get called to go back later because it's too early for nuchal test??
Also, I can't deal with the bloating. From the second I wake up my belly sticks out - I'm sure it's been noticedat work. 😬

WLMcI · 03/02/2017 18:59

....aaaand as I post this, Green Day "Basket Case" comes on the radio. V. appropriate as I probably AM just paranoid!Grin

ZylaB · 03/02/2017 19:25

Hate early pregnancy and worrying things aren't ok when symptoms disappear, hate hate hate it. That is all 😂😂😂

turtletum · 03/02/2017 19:58

I feel the same WLM. I've not had many symptoms and today I don't feel pg at all. No symptoms. Seem to have vanished overnight. I'm going with a lull in hormones and if nothing in a few days then I'll worry more. Argh I feel like I spend a part of each day with worrying going on in the back of my mind. I'm only 6+5 so it seems too early for symptoms to drop. Hmm

Frillyhorseyknickers · 03/02/2017 20:10

Just got home after the most horrific day in the office - 192 mile round drive and 8 hours stood in six inch court heels and a pencil skirt with the most hurty, unforgiving waistband ever.

I've come home and put my running leggings on (SO comfy Smile) and my DH has just queried whether I'm off for a night time run with the dog. Hmm

OkyDoke · 03/02/2017 21:07

Sorry youve had a bad day frilly! I think DH needs to get used to jogging bottoms. Ive been wearing my yoga trousers all weekends!

flymo79 · 03/02/2017 23:42

Sorry for those without symptoms, worrying I'm sure... Just woke after not enough sleep feeling predictably grim. At least it's Saturday and DH can help me with dd! Every cloud...

Kskifred · 04/02/2017 07:16

Lol Frilly trust me there is worse to come than jogging bottoms, tell DH to embrace the new home wear! Grin

UnreasonableIsMyMiddleName · 04/02/2017 09:40

Well I had an early scan yesterday as I wasn't feeling confident with it all for some reason. Good news that baby has a good heartbeat and I'm right for dates but they told me there were two sacs but one is way behind development so it's a vanishing twin pregnancy. Feel a bit sad for the little one that didn't make it. But happy the other is doing ok. Funny strange weird day. I actually had a feeling it might have been twins.

EssentialHummus · 04/02/2017 10:01

middle I can imagine your shock at that. I'm glad the remaining little one is going strong.

londonfeather · 04/02/2017 10:40

Has anyone changed their coffee habbits? I've cut down to one a day and then drinking herbal tea the rest of the day but I have to say I'm missing it! I'm missing alcohol too - not had a drink at all since I found out - it's my birthday just before the 12 week mark and I'm thinking of having a glass of procecco to treat myself! Do feel a bit guilty at the thought though but having a read up seems it that the odd glass should be fine.

kep1979 · 04/02/2017 11:11

Middle must be mixed emotions, but glad there was a good heartbeat.

London I've cut right back on coffee, and seem to be going off it Shock Have swapped tea for decaf (when it's my round at work) and also added peppermint as it helps a bit with the nausea. I'm really missing alcohol - got some alcohol-free g&t to try (it won't be the same), but really missing wine!

Dixiechick1991 · 04/02/2017 11:26

Woke up this morning really early went to the toilet and when I wiped noticed (TMI sorry) very light pink on the paper. I've had a panty liner on and seen nothing on there. When I've just gone again it was a darker pale browny colour on the tissue.
I'm 11& a half by LMP, 9+2 by early scan and the last time I had this was at 6 weeks when I was told it was more likely implantation bleeding.
I don't really want to call the midwife centre as I kind of think whatever happens, happens for a reason. Just got to make it until scan on 14th to see if there's still a bean in there

Fluffywallow · 04/02/2017 11:43

Dixie try not to worry - it's very common so it's more than likely everything is fine Flowers

Regarding caffeine, the only thing I used to have was tonnes of Diet Coke. I switched to caffeine free but have gone off that too....heavily diluted apple juice is all I can drink at the moment!

Alcohol wise I found a great wine alternative by echo falls - it's a sparkling infusion with green tea (I despise green tea so don't let that put you off!) - it's really lovely, comes in a proper champagne type bottle with cork and is just perfect in a wine glass. Sold in Sainsbury's and Amazon. I'll be straight back to it once this damn sickness passes!

Off to the theatre today on a long awaited trip...gutted i don't feel 100% but hoping it distracts me a bit.
