I have my second early scan tomorrow. Nervous because my 5+4 week scan only showed the sac and nothing else but I've seen some people finding heartbeats at their scans at the same sort of time. Hoping it's not a mmc. I'm having wild symptoms though that don't seem to be easing up.

Also told my boss this morning. I felt bad about deceiving him into giving me a perm contract and not telling him I'm pregnant. I'm a permanent member of staff but the role I'm doing is a temporary promotion and though I've been doing it for 15 months, he's been dragging his feet in putting the role up for me to officially apply for (other priorities taking over etc). Anyway he's a family man and seemed genuinely happy for me. Probably also helped that I told him I can't afford to take a year's mat leave because I'm the bread winner and will only be taking 7 months (6 paid and 1 month as accrued leave).

EssentialHummus · 02/02/2017 16:34

pink fingers crossed for tomorrow. Your symptoms sound promising!

Had an appointment with an endo this morning as I'm hypothyroid. They seem to think everything is in order, but I'll need to monitor things fairly carefully through the pregnancy.

Kskifred · 02/02/2017 17:02

Sorry cross post earlier, I'm so sorry Mouse FlowersFlowers and i'm glad your outlook is still positive at such a difficult time, you will get there just keep going and lots of hugs sent to deal with this hard period.

Travelgeek · 02/02/2017 17:06

So sorry to hear your news mouse take good care of yourself.

Pinkbottletop · 02/02/2017 17:29

Thanks Hummus. Sorry for my naivety but what is hypothyroid?

EssentialHummus · 02/02/2017 17:42

pink it's where the thyroid (a little gland in your neck) doesn't produce enough of the hormones needed, which regulate metabolism, heart and digestive function, muscle control, brain development. When it goes wrong you tend to notice when you're not napping/eating!

The foetus doesn't get its own thyroid until 18 weeks (?), so pregnant women need extra medication/monitoring. Bit scary but seems to be under control.

calimommy · 02/02/2017 17:49

Terribly sorry mouse

lilyborderterrier · 02/02/2017 17:59

So I'm 9+6 with my second and 3 people including my partner have commented on the size of my bump !!! Already huge and not from eating as I've had such bad nausea I'm surviving on ginger biscuits, crackers and corn flakes. They keep saying ooh must be twins and I am sh**ing myself 😱
I haven't a scan until the 23rd of February I don't know how i will be able to contain myself!

Fluffywallow · 02/02/2017 18:30

Lily I'm 9 weeks with my second too and have an impressive bump by the end of the day too!

Have had such a rough few weeks and it's still getting worse. So hard to look after a 2 yr old feeling like this!

On the plus side I've started having 150mls of prune juice each morning which seems to be getting my digestive system moving a bit again Blush

WhatwouldRuthdo · 02/02/2017 18:44

I'm glad it's not just me with a bump. I am 10 weeks today with my second, and I am so, so much bigger than with my DS. I know it's all just bloating and weak stomach muscles, but I'm running out of baggy clothes to hide myself in at work, and I've got 2.5 weeks til my scan. If I hadn't seen just the one little blob in there at my private scan I'd be seriously worried about twins!

lilyborderterrier · 02/02/2017 18:44

Interesting I might get some prune juice too as my no 2's need some assistance. Yes it's hard I'm a childminder and have my own nearly 4 year old. But as least i can sit down and play. I haven't told many people just 3 good friends and 2 of them commented today which was worrying as I thought I was hiding the bump ! Don't want to tell until after the scan and everything is given the ok but better than plan my outfits better for the next few weeks ! Thought I was doing so too !

Amz26 · 02/02/2017 19:10

I'm the same ladies I have a massive bump already and one of the kids has asked me if I'm pregnant ( I obviously said no) only have 3 weeks to go until I can tell everyone! I thought I was doing a good job hiding it 🙈

sugarplumfairy2010 · 02/02/2017 19:12

sugar that's a lovely scan pic

MrsK8541 · 02/02/2017 20:11

Wow! What an incredible scan photo! Congratulations sugar

OkyDoke · 02/02/2017 20:13

Welcone sugar! Lovely scan pic.

And amz, thats a lovely bump! I just look a bit fat lol.

WhatwouldRuthdo · 02/02/2017 20:17

That's a very clear scan pic, how lovely.

And Amz, I'm awful at taking selfies so can't get the angle right, but your bump is beautifully neat compared to mine. Boobs are huge too. Really not sure how I can hide it much longer, am just stooping round the office in a vain attempt.

Kskifred · 02/02/2017 20:38

Nice bump Amz, I have 'popped' out but have too much of a tummy on top so just looks like a big roll at the mo Blush i can feel my uterus much higher than last time, just under belly button but i'm guessing that is because of second baby. I do have big bumps though

Kskifred · 02/02/2017 20:39

ladies something i read about that works for #2 is magnesium oil spray - it's safe in pregnancy and used to help joint pain/migraines etc so been spraying that on every day and it gives you soft stools Grin

poco2015 · 02/02/2017 20:57

So sorry to her about the miscarriages. It truly is heartbreaking.

Finally got booking in appointment for week next Thursday at 10 weeks so won't get scan until 12 weeks! So desperate to see baby!
👶

Heyitsholly · 02/02/2017 21:08

Hummus im hypothyroid too. All they do is montior your levels and increase your levothyroxine. My levels have never gone down since. But i have high bp they were more worried about that tbh
