WLM where I used to live in London had the first appointment at 12 weeks too so I think it does vary. I don't know if they try to hear a heartbeat at the first appointment anyway - I remember I had an appointment at 15ish weeks last time and even then they said they might not be able to hear it.

It took 4 hours to get DS to go to sleep last night and even then he slept in our bed. Maybe it's a way of reminding me what a newborn is like!

Tilly2017 · 24/01/2017 08:25

Hi all know the feeling.... sleeping is now patchy and making me irritable towards DP and not helping at work! I just have to look at food and I feel like being sick. The dizziness and lightheadedness is the worst of all.... wish I could curl up in bed all day but unfortunately I have to go to work.

n0ne · 24/01/2017 10:06

Epic pregnancy brain fail!!! I got a call from the mw this morning as I was on the way to work asking where I was. I was supposed to have my intake appt this morning. I thought it was 24/02!!!! I did wonder why they'd planned it so late Hmm

Idiot. Now they've rescheduled to a time where I have to take time off work, and then I have a scan a couple of weeks later which I need to leave work early for, and I already had a scan I had to skip out of work for . So I've decided I have to tell them what's going on. Gah! Confused

n0ne · 24/01/2017 10:07

Tell work, I mean. Which I wasn't planning to do til 12w.

Anyone else tokd their work? How did it go?

Fluffywallow · 24/01/2017 10:20

Oh no N0ne! Baby brain got you! Good they could reschedule though.

I told work at about 6 weeks due to sickness and other work stuff that made it logical for me to speak up. Were the worst to happen I'd tell them anyway so pleased I did. Plus because of sickness I've been off for a week or so on their suggestion - they've been great. Hoping to work modified hours until I'm through the worst of it. Last time I didn't tell work until 15 weeks and it was horrible to feel so rough and have no one understand or to talk to.

OkyDoke · 24/01/2017 10:38

Having a bad today. Having a good old panic at my lack of symptoms. I'm supposed to be 9+1 today but I feel nothing except being tired. Really wish I could have stayed at home today and felt sorry for myself. I'm so scared.

Frillyhorseyknickers · 24/01/2017 11:19

I'm due a commission based bonus of about £14k in the second week of Feb, but it's discretionary so I am keeping my mouth firmly shut with work until it's banked. I'm on crystallised ginger and my nautiousness has subsided for the time being, my next meeting is a lunch meeting and if there are egg sandwiches it will definitely send me over the edge.

Shwighty1 · 24/01/2017 11:20

oky tiredness is a really strong symptom. Sending you lots of calming vibes x

I'm swinging between feeling nauseous, wretching, feeling starving and really do not know what I need to eat or if I do need to eat at all. Hmm

I'm on the road today and I just spotted a deli that has got pregnancy munchies written all over it!! I'm definitely driving back past that way BrewCake

ringroads · 24/01/2017 12:13

Frilly ..14k woah ild deff be tip toeing around until 2nd week of feb!!, all them baby goodies u could buy , good luck hun x

Fluffywallow · 24/01/2017 12:26

0ky I know so so so many friends who've had babies and have had very few symptoms - tiredness usually being the one that most people have. Please try not to worry - it's perfectly normal. How long to you have to go until your scan?

I'm having another rough day mainlining breadsticks. And have a craving for orange juice. May need to send dh out!

Worried about returning to work next week. Considering asking to work shorter days just until this passes....

MouseLove · 24/01/2017 12:40

Oky. You (and me) are lucky. I have no symptoms either and baby was absolutely fine at my scan. Try not to worry! Everyone is different.

charlij91 · 24/01/2017 14:39

N0ne I told my boss last week (I'm 9+2) but only because I work for a university and have graduation ceremonies this week which usually include a lot of heavy lifting and long hours, so I thought I'd play it safe so she could risk assess and help. Funnily enough all my other team members have now taken time off this week so I'm still left on my own :( keep having to ask other people to lift stuff and help so no doubt they will all click on soon.

Losing the will to live this week- I seem to have no patience or time for anything or anyone. I think (HOPE!) it's just a phase as things are so busy and I'm working really long hours. But I'm definitely ready to snap at any moment! OH has been putting up with me like a saint (even when I told him yesterday I wouldnt hesitate at trading him in for a bacon double cheeseburger!)

OkyDoke · 24/01/2017 14:52

Thank you ladies, once again you have calmed me down! I went to Sainsburys at lunch and bought exactly what I craved - bacon and egg sandwich - and now feel so full. If I could sleep now, I would. Also had a few cramps today which I haven't for a few weeks. Really wish I could tell work so they knew why I'm such a misery guts at the moment! Because I want to be in bed, all day every day.

Three weeks today til the scan! I'm sure once I've had a scan with a healthy baby on it I'll be happy to be one of the lucky symptomless!

TipTop333 · 24/01/2017 15:32

I've got the major meat cravings. I have a packet of chicken drumsticks in the fridge I am working my way through but does anyone know the deal on cured meats? Last time I was pg it was very two sided, so not actually sure if they are allowed or not?

SpunBodgeSquarepants · 24/01/2017 16:03

Hi ladies, may I join? I'm currently 8+3 and it still hasn't sunk I'm. Due date is 2nd Sept. I am now single, and feeling very alone in this. I haven't even arranged a booking in appointment yet as I don't feel pregnant at all. I have no symptoms - breasts soreness disappeared last week. Some days I. Think yeah I will just book a private scan to reassure myself, but then I'm scared of what they'll find (or not find...). Sorry to bring a downer to your thread :(

puttingourhoodupdown · 24/01/2017 16:14

Afternoon all, the nausea hit today & the heightened sense of smell! I had my appt with the GP this morning and then referred to MW...got blood tests next week then booking in on 15 Feb, they do it at home now so that makes it easier to keep DD entertained. Hospital should send me a scan date through next week too, exciting!

Shwighty1 · 24/01/2017 16:17

spun sounds like you're having a rough time, we're glad to have you with us x

Eevee77 · 24/01/2017 16:44

Welcome Spun.

I'm having a crappy day. DS is at my mums so I'm moping in bed. Blush Off to get DIY supplies with OH soon so better get my head together.

Going to see GP tomorrow for my first appointment, I should be 6 weeks.

n0ne · 24/01/2017 16:48

OMG, I'm starving CONSTANTLY. Like loud tummy rumbling starving. Today I've eaten a cream cheese and banana sandwich, several lychees, a couple of mandarins, a handful of cashews, a pack of sea salt and rosemary biscuit things (3 in the pack) and a feta salad sandwich. Work must wonder wtf I'm doing, I keep going down my desk drawer for food so often.

I'm gonna be big as a house, aren't I? Sad

SpunBodgeSquarepants · 24/01/2017 17:01

Haha, I'm constantly hungry too - had a bacon sandwich for lunch with four rashers of bacon and it was like I hadn't even eaten anything straight after!! I haven't heard my stomach grumble in years and today it has been embarrassingly loud!

calimommy · 24/01/2017 17:13

Well I was up 4 times with DS2 and twice with DS1 so the only thing stopping me from sleeping is them! 😭 seriously considering loading them up with antihistamines tonight, it's been like this for 2 weeks now and I'm weary.

ringroads · 24/01/2017 17:18

Ladies I hAve a question, is anybody considering traveling to countries such as thailand and Malaysia? I have read a few things online about it being a risk of zika and there has been 1 or 2 reports of it? Does anyone have any knowledge on this? Thanks

Lules · 24/01/2017 17:22

I don't feel that hungry yet, but I am really thirsty. Is anyone else?

whitwoochantelle · 24/01/2017 17:37

Ive had 3 miscarriages and baby#1 took along time to come this one was a bloody shock but a grateful one!
We've one fur brother for #1
And I'm in the West Midlands. X

FXSkip · 24/01/2017 17:43

ringroad yea I've been looking at where's safe to go, both Thailand and Malaysia are classed as risk zones so the government advises against travel. I've settled on India as there is no zika or malaria. Otherwise, I considered Canada or Uruguay.

Today I've eaten scrambled eggs on toast, more toast, yoghurt & fresh fruit, 2 cookies, a chicken sandwich, popcorn, fish cakes, chips, chocolate pudding - and about to raid the cupboards as I'm hungry again. Wtf?? I used to only eat dinner some days!!
