I've had awful nausea all afternoon, really trying to hide it at work as like frilly I have a bonus due but not til end of march when I'll be 16 weeks so a long time to keep it under wraps, not sure whether I'll manage if I continue feeling like I have this afternoon! Any tips on how to hide being pregnant (particularly a bump) greatly welcome!

Lules yes to being really thirsty, but nothing will quench it, I had it when I was pregnant with DD too, think it is due to your blood volume increasing.

Have another early scan next week, it can't come quick enough.

OkyDoke · 24/01/2017 18:00

Had a scary phone call from midwife at 5pm. My blood test tesults said one test wss raised... the one for blood clots. Got to ring doctors for repeat blood test in two weeks. Completely freaked put and booked private scan for sunday. :(

OkyDoke · 24/01/2017 18:11

Sorry for all those typos! was out

MouseLove · 24/01/2017 18:23

Oky, hun if they were really worried you'd be back tomorrow for bloods. I had the same with my thyroid last week. Was in the next day. And EPU scan the day following. They won't mess about if it's important or serious. I'm guessing the private scan will reassure you though. Hugs. X

I'm only 5+3 but so far I'm feeling lucky to have very mild symptoms. Good luck to all you ladies struggling through nausea, I'm not sure how you cope! I had a sickness bug over the weekend and just a few days of feeling sick was enough to drive me into a temper! tiptop My gp said cured meats are generally ok if from reputable supermarket type place, as they have quality control and sterilisation. More risky if fresh, not packaged. GP was surprisingly relaxed about food, can eat almost anything, just make sure meat and eggs cooked thoroughly, pasteurised dairy. Limit caffeine. That's it.

Ringroads I have had to tell work about my pregnancy as I was due to travel to Texas and my doctor and midwife recommended I didn't because of Zika virus. I told them and I'm only 6 weeks! I'd always recommend speaking to your doctor about travel. Smile

OkyDoke · 24/01/2017 19:10

Thank you mouse, im sure youre right. Just shocked me on a day i was already panicking so yes, scan is for a bit of reassurance.

newbie87 · 24/01/2017 19:52

Hi all, hope you are all feeling better today? I have had a good day, not so much nausea today but it could be down to the constant supply of beige food i am consuming.... also tried ginger ale, not sure if its working but i'll try it anyway! However i'm awfully bloated... couldnt do up my work trousers today and only 8+5... probably down to all the beige foods... crappy carbs!!! Why can't salad make you feel better?!?! 😬

ringroads · 24/01/2017 20:04

Thanks fxskip and tot, will speak to midwife about it.

Oky, try not to worry , the blood test for blood clot is called d dimer and is normally raised in pregnancy anyway, if they are worried you have a blood clot they will need to scan you, depending on where they think it is. Do you know why they did the d dimer anyway? X

WhiteLily86 · 24/01/2017 20:16

Oky I am still the same as you with lack of symptoms. Generally tired and yes Lules also very thirsty. I am 8 weeks today yay!

I did something really bad today. I bought a load of stuff in the white company sale. The first things I have bought, but feel like I have jinxed things, so much so I am scared to tell DH as he may be 'disappointed'! Has anyone else bought things???

Cheers to the work bonus. I got a very large unexpected bonus today (which will be used for debt payoff after lots of house renos and wedding last year!), just makes me feel guilty if this pregnancy goes to plan and I will be telling them end of Feb!

Travelgeek · 24/01/2017 21:18

Lules, I've been quite thirsty. I thought it was more than usual but then I realised I'm not having my usual 6 mugs of tea day so figured it was probably that!

Finding it hard to keep up with my ever changing food aversions and cravings too. Couldn't open the fridge all day yesterday as some garlic bread in there smelled so strong it made me heave. It doesn't bother me in the slightest today!

flymo79 · 25/01/2017 04:50

ringroads I live in Malaysia and where I live there is no known zika risk. I've no problem with travelling to Thailand either, just over the border for us. You need to take precautions as with all risks, I use anti-mosquito spray on me and dd every day anyway. I do know someone who just cancelled a long haul holiday because of risk and being pregnant, I suppose it all depends on how you feel about the likelihood of any risk, and taking precautions (I'm always careful with mosquitos when I travel as dengue, Japanese encephalitis and malaria are risks to all, not just pregnant women) and whether you'd have fun/relax when you got there !

flymo79 · 25/01/2017 04:51

and welcome spun and whit!

Fluffywallow · 25/01/2017 06:00

Morning everyone and welcome newbies!

Had a dreadful day again yesterday...contemplating asking the dr for medication as I'm just not functioning (not at work, barely looking after my DD and the house is a tip!) but I'm a bit apprehensive. I just don't know if I can do another month of this Sad

On the plus side it's 24hrs until my private scan, so fingers crossed after then we can start telling close people which'll make it easier.

Food cravings/aversions are a nightmare here too - fridge quickly filling up with my momentary whims only to turn my stomach after the craving passes. It's like a coleslaw graveyard in there right now Grin

Hope everyone is ok today.

ringroads · 25/01/2017 06:40

Flymo, thank you for that info, I will be looking into it, ill be around 5-6 months if I do go. Ive done the flight before and was fine but wasnt pregnant then, so ill see how I get on at 12 weeks. X

Shwighty1 · 25/01/2017 06:50

fluffy I actually cleaned half the kitchen yesterday and took the dog out and had done a fair bit of walking. Dh actually said ooooooh are you coming out the other side? Do we have you back again? 8+1 yesterday so live in hope

Frillyhorseyknickers · 25/01/2017 07:09

Morning everyone. fluffy sorry you're feeling rough, hopefully the end is in sight. My DH just doesn't really get it, and I got woken up at 6 this morning for rude prods - I've been up and down all night so I wasn't thrilled at the concept of a 6am shag. 🙄

I feel quite normal right now, I've got to drive down to Cambridge for work so I am
Hoping the sickness keeps at bay!

ZylaB · 25/01/2017 08:08

Im not feeling very positive. Over the last couple of days my symptoms have all disappeared and I just don't feel pregnant. I'm only 5+3 so I know it'd be too early for a scan to reassure me, I'll have to wait until a week today for my scan at hospital, though at the moment I'm not expecting good news.

Lules · 25/01/2017 08:19

Fluffy I would definitely go to the GP. There's no point suffering if you've got to that point.

It's been a bad day for me so far. DS woke up at 2am and wouldn't go to sleep for hours. Ended up having a big argument with DH in the middle of the night but we're ok now. We're just both really tired. I also slipped over on the icy pavement on my way to work this morning and am a bit bruised. Still, things can only get better can't they?!

MouseLove · 25/01/2017 08:25

Zyla, stop worrying. Lots of us have no symptoms. It's actually more common than you think. Your symptoms may come back later in this trimester or in another. Try to enjoy your pregnancy. X

Fluffy, go see your GP hun, sounds like you're having a tough time. X

Anyone else have their booking appointment this week? Mine is Friday. X

Fluffywallow · 25/01/2017 08:43

Thanks ladies. I'm going to speak to my midwife tomorrow at my booking in appointment. Almost can't think past my scan at the moment - despite the symptoms im still really worried something's gone wrong.

Isn't the first trimester great!!! Grin

OkyDoke · 25/01/2017 08:54

Zyla, I know exactly how you feel. All I can say is that everyone is right in saying, don't worry. I know it's hard and feels impossible but just take every day as it comes. Yesterday was a bad day for me, but I'm feeling more positive, just because of waking up at 3am and needing a wee. Not a big symptom, but it's still there. Do you have anything like that?

sherbertlemon17 · 25/01/2017 08:54

Morning ladies, sorry to hear everyone is feeling so poorly.

I've had an awful 24 hours. Had spotting all day yesterday. No pain or cramps and still having on off nausea. Thought I'd keep an eye on it and it stopped last night, but thought I'd get a Drs appointment today anyway. Rang this morning and they are fully booked already!!

I really don't know what to do... don't want to go to A&E because I'll be there for hours and I'm not even spotting anymore. If I ring EPU they'll just tell me to go to A&E Sad

Fluffywallow · 25/01/2017 09:02

Sherbert you can self refer at my local epu, can you give them a call and see if that's possible at yours? I'm sure everything's fine but I know what it's like to worry.
