Bluebird I also commute into London, luckily I don't use the tube. I commute in from Kent where there are plenty of seats when it gets to my station. The journey is about 35 mins to London Bridge which at least is not too bad. My train was delayed today so I spent 50 mins on the train which gave me back pain. I'm sure virgin trains are more comfy than Southeastern though.

Tinkling glad scan went well.

Thumbs I had headaches around xmas time at 13wks and I think it was a combination of the stress of hosting over 20 people for the day, not drinking enough water and driving lots for long distances ( I normally catch a train). The headache came back yesterday (16+1) but then I think it was a busy weekend; looked after 11 month nephew for most of Saturday, then got ready for a wedding Saturday evening, drive to wedding 50 miles away in Surrey and then back home at 3am! I was exhausted. Combined with not drinking enough water, no wonder the headache is back. Paracetamol always sorts it out though. I think my headaches are stress induced.

Bawbles Same here. I get a pain down there when I sneeze, cough, etc...

Fliss I considered a home birth but changed my mind to have baby at the hospital. We are having a major A-road by-pass built near us which has made getting the hospital 4 miles way an absolute mission. It took me 1hr to get to hospital for the 12 wk scan. That was the deciding factor for me. If I end up with complications, it might be a long time before I get to hospital. The next best thing would have been a midwife led unit but that is also a long drive away.

Luci omg Dh an I have not that conversation. I dare not think about it. Should we talk about it?

Scan went well - measuring 12+4 instead of 13+0 but this is as I expected based on ovulation date (actually it's +1 day). New EDD is 27/07.

Bubs refused to move (despite me having to do a lot of moving and shaking) so they couldn't get measurements for screening so I have to go back for the quad test.

20 week scan all booked in for 10th March.

Cat - looks like we've just had a date swap!

bluebird1235 · 16/01/2017 19:35

Lovely scan pics!

Thanks for the advice all. Fortunately I get to home (Cornwall) tomorrow and work from home so I've only got one more day to get through. Still feeling a bit low and am eating like a horse but I've been working for 8 days straight so that probably hasn't helped!

Notyetthere · 17/01/2017 08:33

Another purchase made. Bought a snuzpod on ebay last night for £100. The owner is also throwing in 4 fitted sheets that go with it. They used a cocoonbaby inside the snuzpod so the mattress is close to new. If on closer inspection the mattress is more used then we shall buy another. Still cheaper than the £200 to buy new.

We will leave the bigger purchases (nursery furniture, prams, car seat) for later on as both sets of our parents want to help out so whatever help we get we will use it towards the purchase of these.

I am one of the first of my friends to have a dc so won't have many 2nd hand items given to us. We could buy a few things 2nd hand though. I also plan on going to the NCT nearly new sales in March and April to see what we can get. I really hope to get a good quality pram there but if not we will buy one new.

TinklingTheIvories · 17/01/2017 08:41

We're refraining from buying a lot until the 20 week scan. Though I will be buying a pillow thingy soon.

We're telling our work mates today. It's all exciting.

LuciBee231015 · 17/01/2017 08:53

Not - I've seen a nice nursery set in Argos for £350. That includes cotbed, chest of drawers with changer on top and a wardrobe! I thought that was pretty good. I looked at IKEA too and comes to about the same.

I am going to look at eBay too for nursery furtniture.

dancestomyowntune · 17/01/2017 11:59

Hi, just checking in really.

I will be having a c-section and sterilisation before they stitch me up! This little one is most definitely my last baby !!! Lol. My friend, who had quick labours, had her third at home in a hurry. Her husband was on the phone to the ambulance service arguing with them as they wouldn't believe she was that close to giving birth. He was saying "here that crying? That's the baby!" And the baby was there on the living room floor!

Also interested in joining a Facebook group, how do I go about that???

Littlejayx · 17/01/2017 12:05

Hi mums to be,

Just letting everyone know that there's a really good sale in mamas and papas! I just bought all my nursery bedding, changing mats, sheets, mobile, wallpaper and decorations for £150.

Littlejayx · 17/01/2017 12:07

This is the general theme, unisex but still bright and interesting :-) Very happy

Seahawk80 · 17/01/2017 12:17

That looks lovely little I'm off for my scan now - bit nervous but glad I booked it. I'm also interested in the Facebook group.

Littlejayx · 17/01/2017 12:48

ooh good luck! hope all is wonderful for you sea :-)

rhodes2015 · 17/01/2017 13:03

Good luck Seahawk x

Seahawk80 · 17/01/2017 13:36

Thanks! Of course I'm just being silly and it's still there! Lovely to see it though Smile

thumbsupforthesixbillion · 17/01/2017 13:49

Glad your scan went well Seahawk.

I took the advice to get checked out and thankfully my blood pressure has come down now and nothing was found to worry about so I just need to keep an eye on things.

Notyetthere · 17/01/2017 14:05

Good luck Sea hope all goes well.

Tinkling that was my initial plan, to wait till after 20wks but I couldn't help myselfBlush. I have taken the day of the 20wk scan off work so that if all is well, DH and I shall hit the shops and check out a few items; might even buy a few clothes but I am cautious of this as I don't want us to have too many. If it is not good news then I have the rest of the day wallow in my misery.

Little that looks great. DH has come up with the whole concept of the nursery. All I did was find a cot that I liked and he decided to design the whole room around it. It is a mint green painted cot so he will paint the room grey with a large tree decal like the attached pic.

Luci thank you for recommendtions. I will check them out. We also plan on going to Ikea as we like the look of some of hemnes chest of drawers. We were planning to buy a 2nd hand cot until I saw this www.amazon.co.uk/Cosatto-Story-Cot-Bed-Owlet/dp/B00ZLC6BW8 . I couldn't get it out of my head that even DH noted that it seemed to be the only baby related item I have shown any emotion for Grin. He could be saying that as he wants to buy a very expensive travel system that I'm not keen on is amazed as to how detached I have been with everything else that we plan to buy; he stopped me short of having a 2nd hand outfit for baby to come home in from hospital. He says he will be ok with this with DC2 but not the 1st one. lol

TBH I'm not even fussed about having nursery ready for baby. DC will be bunking in with us for the first few months anyway. I am concentrating on making sure when baby comes to have a few clothes and nappies, somewhere for baby to sleep, feeding (boob or bottle) and car seat.

Glad everyone's scans have gone well, and it's so nice to hear about the nursery purchases!

Notyet, love the cot and agree with your DH - you've got to splurge on something! My treat for a good 20 week scan is I'm going to to out for a really lovely, expensive meal!! Have been saving really hard over the last few months and miss my takeaways and meals out! My 20 week scan is 21+4 though, argh!!

Still think I'll wait til last minute to buy stuff: our house is tiny so storage already an issue, plus I think seeing it all will really freak my husband out!

I'm going to be honest... He's still not very enthused. In fact we don't really discuss it much. Has anyone found their husbands to be the same at first, especially those with children already? Confused

Haven't written much in a while because I've been feeling down lately but symptom wise...Retired the skinny jeans last week and this week (15+1 today) the tiredness is back!! Had a nap at lunchtime today (day off) and could go back to bed right now.

As for dopplers btw no judgement I think they are really reassuring especially if you're a worrier like me. I have access to them due to work and have a play about twice a week. Love hearing the heartbeat! Never gets old! The baby kicked it the other day too it made me laugh out loud.

Fliss1981 · 17/01/2017 17:44

Crombanna so glad to hear you say that. My husband also not that enthused! Can't imagine him ever planning a nursery. But to be honest he let me choose everything first time round - knew I knew best.

We won't buy anything until after 20 week scan - I am major superstitious and to be honest we didn't even have the stuff in the house until I was 36 weeks last time; this time just need to work out what we need and what we don't. No idea what is in our loft!!

Hope everyone's scans went well.

DeliciouslyHella · 17/01/2017 18:25

Hello again lovelies,

In light of the July 2017 babies Facebook group closing to new members, I have started a separate July 2017 Mumsnet Facebook group. If anyone fancies joining, just PM me for my real name (shock horror, I have one!). It's currently a secret group, so won't show on your Facebook feed. Smile

Notyetthere · 17/01/2017 18:35

Crombanna I'm sorry you are feeling down. It is not to do with dh not being enthused? I think diff dhs adjust to the idea differently. Mine was very quiet about the whole thing but he did indulge me by putting up with all my endless musings on pregnancy, bloatedness, nursery, etc. He even adjusted to having the main meal of the day at lunch time to ensure I didn't have the uncomfortable evening bloat. But I thought he was only putting up with it; until we got to the 12wk scan when he blurted out, "no shit, there is a baby in there!"Grin. He been more enthusiastic about it since. Even started the conversation on travel systems.

Anyway, it was his idea to start to try for a baby. I could have waited for another year. Maybe it is 1st time fathers like dh that get excited about these things? Maybe dh will be uniterested when I am pregnant with dc2?

Ctupp · 17/01/2017 19:54

Hi everyone Smile I had no idea there was a new group!! We had our 12 week scan on the 3rd of Jan which dated us at 11 + 3 so new EDD is 22nd July. Currently 13 +3 and been off work for 2 days with a virus, anyone else been plagued by illnesses? I've so far had a cold, sinus infection, water infection and now this!!

CatRash · 17/01/2017 20:42

I think we have Tinkling!!

Sorry to hear that ctupp! Hope you're feeling better soon! I've had a cold - which doesn't sound like much but I never get ill! I read somewhere that your immune system is lowered so your body doesn't fight off the baby.

Not it's both our first child and my DH is quite excited. He's told loads of people already, I gave him free reign yesterday to tell whoever he likes now we have had the scan but I think he's already told everyone lol!!

Hella - I've PMd you re. the Facebook group - thanks!!

crombanna · 18/01/2017 07:19

Ah you're all very sweet. No, it's our first so no "second time" excuses apply unfortunately. I think what I was getting at was, has anyone had a reluctant DH who came around by the end?

Anyway I am confident when we meet the baby things will be different. And we had a long chat this morning (insomnia x 2!!) about getting the house ready, parenting, names etc. Though like Fliss said my husband will not be planning a nursery any time soon...
