brightsmoke our hospital has such poor reception that while you have a battery you'd still be stuffed if you wanted to use the phone.... take a pre-loaded e-reader instead :D (top tip: if you can go on a hospital tour, do so, and keep tabs on your signal while there)

mightymouse76 · 18/01/2017 21:59

Barnes 😂 that kicking the dog was the first noticeable movement. Love it! Really glad you're getting some action now. It's lovely, even when they punch your bladder at night : )

mightymouse76 · 18/01/2017 22:15

Badger really sorry to hear. Shit timing indeed. Do try not to worry though...I work short contract self employed so do understand the fear of not getting work in the last few months but the likelihood is you will- when you're good at what you do, being pregnant won't matter to people who need your skills, and judging by what I can see around me, your skills are always in huge demand!
I think it's also possible to get working tax credit for a short period between jobs before mat leave (maybe one of the gang have already mentioned this). Good luck x

lullaby23 · 19/01/2017 01:24

badger i'm so sorry to hear about your work situation, and echoing the others hope you can get some short term work and find a longer term solution where you can bring babybadger with you.

barnes yay so exciting!

I think this one is less of a wriggler than DS, not feeling as many movements DH could feel external nudges by now or maybe there's just more insulation on my tummy this time haha!

I am reusing carrycot and snuzpod mattresses as they've only been out of use for just over a year and stored (I hope) safely in a cupboard. Will give them an inspection first though! Oh and Sleepyhead which is all washable.

lucieloos · 19/01/2017 07:42

Badger, really sorry to hear about your work situation too. I hope that you can sort something else out.

Feeling lots of kicks here now and dh even managed to feel one the other night too.

Is anyone else really struggling to get up in the mornings now? It seems no matter what time I go to bed I'm just finding it impossible.

RasperryInAMelon · 19/01/2017 07:58

Lucie 🙋🏼🤰🏼 I seemed to muster up some energy for a few weeks but have returned to early nights and struggling to get up in the mornings. It doesn't help that my boss is away at the moment so I'm doing overt again and up at 5.45 😩

Gurtie28 · 19/01/2017 07:59

For anyone who is yet to a buy pram/travel system...the Britax Smile (I had never heard of it either) over £500 everywhere is currently £199 in Argos. Includes carry cot etc - better than half price!! I have researched and gets rave reviews and is a Which? Best Buy ahead of silvercross and oyster!! Needless to say I have ordered and am picking up today - will report back Smile

Sah1987 · 19/01/2017 08:18

DD is off of nursery today due to runny bum. I'm not affected, but now feeling awful as I have psyched myself into feeling poorly x

Brightsmoke · 19/01/2017 09:34

Savage, hopefully mine isn't too bad! Haven't noticed bad signal when I've been there previously, but will be checking now, thanks :) I have books and games on my phone which is more likely to keep my occupied than tinterweb anyway, either that or I'll be screaming at DH regularly Grin

How is the nursery looking Rasperry?

Lucie, me too! Especially the (few occasional) days that I get up before DH. He is up from 4-4.15, so having an extra 30mins in bed, I feel smug enough to get up. When he's up after me, I feel like I'm stuck to the bed!

Is the sleepyhead pretty much the same as the poddle pod does anyone know? Has anyone tried both and rate one above the other?

Brightsmoke · 19/01/2017 09:39

Just to add, only looking to use sleepyhead/poddle pod in the day, not left or overnight if that changes things! :)

Nurse15 · 19/01/2017 09:40

Bright smoke I've looked at both and the poddlepod looks to me like it holds the babies head really far forward so their airway isn't as open as it should be?? I could be wrong but just looking at the pictures on their marketing!

MissMooMoo · 19/01/2017 09:40

badger really hope you can get something work wise for the next few months!

I had a bath last night and noticed that my belly now sticks out of the water no matter what! Felt a bit strange.

RasperryInAMelon · 19/01/2017 09:52

Bright it looks much of a muchness from a photo tbh. But when you're in there it looks much different, carpets up, corking has been done in all corners and around the windows etc, ceiling painted along with an undercoat to the door, radiator and skirting boards. Should look different later.

Has anyone used the 'BabyPics' app? Soooo cute! They have loads of little kitch things to add to your photos including the fruit sizes of your little one each week 😍

22 weeks and we're there same size as a Papaya!

Lucie I was thinking the exact thing this morning, it takes me sooo long to do stuff in the morning and I really can't be bothered Blush

I don't know if I'm worse because I don't have to commute or be in an office but I just feel weary all the time Hmm

Spam88 · 19/01/2017 09:55

Raspberry I've been using the BabyCentre app and have learnt about all sorts of obscure fruits and vegetables that I didn't know existed before... And also that most are bigger than I thought

lucieloos · 19/01/2017 09:55

Ohh raspberry no way could I manage 5.45!! I've had a few late starts lately. Hope the nursery is coming on!

Bright wow I feel lazy now as I'm struggling to get up at 7am Grin I'm going to get a sleepyhead, I've heard so many good reviews about them so decided on that one.

RasperryInAMelon · 19/01/2017 10:01

I'll have to have a look at that one too Spam!

You're telling me Lucie it's brutal! But only another week of it! Plus only 11 weeks or so to go now and then I'll be on lie ins for 6 weeks hopefully!

Rustler74 · 19/01/2017 10:12

I've been using ovia which is an international app and my baby would be size of corn on the cob right now also at 22 weeks... how does that compare with papaya?

Gurtie28 · 19/01/2017 10:21

rustler I use Ovia too and I love it! 24 weeks and I am an eggplant!! I love the little hand print on Ovia too...she is getting bigger GrinGrinGrin

Sorry, couldn't help but laugh at the trauma of a 5.45am wake up...wait until your babies are here!!
My dd is still up at 5.45am everyday of the week...and I work full time...so enjoy these last few weeks where you at least have the weekends to lie in bed!
badger just echoing the others really; sorry to hear about your work situation. You seem really positive and have the right attitude though, which is totally commendable!

Adventuregame · 19/01/2017 10:26

I have to get up at 5:30 on an early shift - so hard right now ! Only 6 more weeks to go and I'm only working Monday next week due to travelling for a wedding so really I could say 5 weeks left. 26 commutes - not that I'm counting or anything Smile

FoxMulder · 19/01/2017 10:42

Wow, you guys get up early! I've told DS that it is the night time until it is light. Which is true imo. We get up at 8. I still find it hard. Hate January.

teainbed · 19/01/2017 10:45

It's funny pre children I would have classed myself as someone who has to get enough sleep now its somethings my that's nice if you get it but not essential! Also had an early waking DS from a young age so am used to it now. You need really good tea or coffee, a nice warm dressing gown and whatever entertainment the baby or toddler needs at stupid o'clock. Grin

My bump is so high up its ridiculous. Does anyone else? The lower part of my stomach is nearly completely flat but the bump is just sitting in the middle and top part of my abdomen. I tried on a non maternity denim mini this morning and it goes on bizarrely (doesn't look great) but then have this giant melon in front of me! I think I put tons more weight on in previous pregnancies but was bigger all over.

Thinking I'm definitely buying a baby jogger just can't decide which one to get.

1004Rise · 19/01/2017 11:14

Fox you're a woman after my own heart!

I am in fear of a baby that doesn't sleep.... I am horrible when I'm normal with no sleep, now I'm 10 times worse!

I'm hoping some instinct will kick in and I'll manage!

I'm in awe of you ladies doing pregnancy with another dc to look after and working, super human powers!!

PeachIcedT · 19/01/2017 11:17

Thanks for the tip on the pram gurtie I'm going to check that out.

I won a bid on eBay for a second hand sleepyhead yesterday as I've read such good things about them so am looking forward to that arriving.

I also don't do well with early mornings so this baby will be interesting!
