Badger that sucks. Can you to nursery supply work or anything like that?

teainbed · 18/01/2017 15:41

That is crap Badger. Was also thinking nanny agency for a few short term contracts until you're due?

Autumnsweater · 18/01/2017 15:45

Oh no badger how stressful, what bad timing. You and DH will manage though and babies need love and time not expensive stuff.

Autumnsweater · 18/01/2017 15:47

Badger you'll still get maternity allowance won't you?

www.gov.uk/maternity-allowance/overview

FoxMulder · 18/01/2017 15:50

Aargh! Badger! I was going to say about maternity allowance too. It's the same as SMP as far as I can tell.

FoxMulder · 18/01/2017 15:55

savege The crib and cot bed ones were set up like cosleeper ones attached to our bed, so in use but more for storing things than sleeping in...the carrycot I think he did sleep in once actually. I remember because I took a photo of the novelty! Grin They've been in the attic ever since which probably isn't ideal.

1004Rise · 18/01/2017 15:56

Aww badger that's awful Sad An I remembering correctly, was it you that had a strange conversation with your boss before Christmas about not coming back after the baby was born?

Is there a nanny/nursery equivalent of supply teaching?

newbieho · 18/01/2017 15:56

What a bummer badger! As girls said have a look at the mat allowance - it's not huge but better that than nothing. Hugs x

Sipperskipper · 18/01/2017 15:59

Oh badger that is truly crap. Wish there was something I could say to make you feel better.

MrsJW15 · 18/01/2017 16:08

Ouch Badger, what a pain. As Rise says, is there a supply teaching equivalent? I know that my boss was quite recently looking for a short-term nanny to cover a gap over the summer. Or could you do something like supply work as a teaching assistant at least to cover for the next few months?

PeachIcedT · 18/01/2017 16:22

Oh badger that would always be difficult news but particularly now. You will find ways to cope though, and to echo everyone, mat allowance will certainly help a little, just apply in good time.

FoxMulder · 18/01/2017 16:25

Why no redundancy pay Badger? How much work did you do for them?

I've got a strong suspicion that I'm going to be made redundant soon.

RasperryInAMelon · 18/01/2017 16:47

Badger that sucks, do check out the SMA page that others have linked to though. It's currently £139.58 if I'm right.

RasperryInAMelon · 18/01/2017 16:53

Fox if I remember rightly Badger is self employed, if you're SE, you aren't eligible for redundancy Sad

EsmesBees · 18/01/2017 16:56

That really sucks Badger. Last thing you need. Have you joined your local parenting FB pages? There are always people on the one here looking for short term childcare solutions.

Brightsmoke · 18/01/2017 18:52

Sorry to hear that Badger, echoing others with 'supply work'? I'm fairly superstitious, and believe things happen for a reason, just wait for the reason to present itself :)

I've just purchased a new phone case that charges the battery, so when I'm in hospital I won't need to be attached to a wall permanently (iPhone batteries really are shit!!). How sad am I 😂😂🙈

Badgerbird · 18/01/2017 19:13

Wow you lot are great Smile Thanks Mamas! Been online looking for jobs and call agencies this week, I'm sure I'll get some bits & bobs to tide us over. Great idea about Facebook pages too thanks esme. And yes looks hopeful I'll get mat allowance which will be good. It was just all a bit of a sad shock.

Yes smoke I kind of think that too so Im now waiting to see what happens!

On a happy note I went to NHS pregnancy club last night, loved it!!! Learnt loads. Anyone else been yet?

Rustler74 · 18/01/2017 19:33

Oh Badgerbird so sorry to hear that! I'm really feeling for you! I hope you can find a solution doing some working from home job for now, even if that would mean you would need to pick up soon after birth again x

Rustler74 · 18/01/2017 19:45

I have been to one pregnancy class in December but not since. I'm planning to go in February definitely. I think we have the same midwives doing them from Watford?

yellowismyfavourite · 18/01/2017 20:19

Badger that sounds really stressful... hope you manage to find something to tide you over.
Is the NHS pregnancy class like an antenatal class?

Barnes79 · 18/01/2017 20:34

I think I just felt my baby movements for the first time! Grin

Obviously DH is away with work so can't experience it too (I'd suspected Sod's law would mean it would happen this week, and I could feel it with my hand on a couple of kicks) but I think the dog got a kick in his side as he was sat on my knee at the time.

RasperryInAMelon · 18/01/2017 20:43

Barnes that's amazing news!

I've had a fidgety girly tonight too, but still no outside movements, hoping it won't be much longer now!

I decided to take myself for a tub this evening but think I might have had it too hot Sad resulted in me feeling very shakey and throwing up. Now resting in bed ready for an early night.

PeachIcedT · 18/01/2017 20:59

Exciting baby movements! Today marks the first time I can see movements in my belly - bit bizarre to see normal breathing in and out then suddenly a diagonal dip accompanying a kick. No visible hands or feet yet! Hope you get a good rest rasperry that sounds like a nasty reaction - early night sounds good (I'm a big fan!) Smile

1004Rise · 18/01/2017 21:06

Barnes that's awesome (and typical that your DH is away) Grin

I feel less like a boxing ring today, can't see any movement on the outside just yet.

Hope the early night does you good Rasperry!

Barnes79 · 18/01/2017 21:21

I'd not even felt anything and then all of a sudden a little kick and I put my hand on my belly and felt another with my hand! I was surprised to feel it with my hand the first time I actually felt anything. I wonder if placenta position has anything to do with it (anterior) or whether baby just didn't like the dog semi-sitting on him... Hmm
