I used to be on-call nights in between working 10 hours days so I know I can function without sleep but it's noise I'm worried about, I love coming home to my lovely quiet house Grin that isn't going to happen for the next 18 years is it!!

EsmesBees · 19/01/2017 12:02

How old is your DS fox? Would love to be able to convince my toddler to lie into 8 occasionally, but she's a 6.30 sort of girl.

Rise don't worry. The hormones and that pesky overwheming love mean you get used to operating on little sleep very quickly.

RasperryInAMelon · 19/01/2017 12:29

Esme my friend swears by her grow clock for her little one, she's been using it with her pretty much since day dot and every night tells her she's not allowed to be awake before the sun comes up, but if she does she has to play quietly Smile

savagehk · 19/01/2017 12:40

The end of pregnancy - post birth hormones really do kick in and help you run on a lot less sleep (IME).

We have another early riser here so no lie ins for us either.

Spam88 · 19/01/2017 12:53

Gurtie that hand picture is adorable Shock

mightymouse76 · 19/01/2017 12:56

Raspberry good going on nursery...
My whole house looks like that...only slightly less finished!

Sipperskipper · 19/01/2017 13:22

Aldi baby event today - bought 12 muslin cloths, big multipack of wipes and some cotton wool, and a v shaped pillow for me (and hopefully breastfeeding). They had moses baskets but the stand looks a bit flimsy - I'm worried my dog (small but silly!) might knock it over, so looking for something a bit more sturdy.

We are currently painting nursery furniture - got given a big set of mamas and papas stuff (few years old now and a bit worn), but a lick of paint and it's looking brand new!

lucieloos · 19/01/2017 13:33

I got some muslin squares and cellular blankets in the Aldi event too! All £2.99 each bargain!

PeachIcedT · 19/01/2017 13:38

Oh I'm glad there is good stuff at Aldi, I'm planning on heading there after work if there is much left by then!

RasperryInAMelon · 19/01/2017 13:38

I jumped on the Aldi bandwagon this morning and ordered a blanket, some sheets and a towel and flannel for about £13

DH went in at lunch and spent £30 on muslins, cellular blankets, socks and some other blankets.

I might nip in on the way home and have a look too 🙈

Badgerbird · 19/01/2017 14:02

barnes that's such great news!! Did doggy notice??

lullaby babybadger Grin

Blimey gurtie that's a great deal! I'm gonna check it out...

lucie yes mornings are not great as I'm awake on and off throughout the night. This is affecting poor dh's sleep too so he's knackered. It's good practise I reckon Confused

Also feeling some movements now which is so fantastic. Such a strange feeling I have to remind myself sometimes that it's her!! Exciting Smile

Adventuregame · 19/01/2017 14:37

Just ordered the pram Shock

Those who have been to Aldi today, what sort of quality are the socks/scratch mittens? Are the double layered?

May have to drag DH there after work today Grin We did already pre-order some nappies and toys from them which have been delivered 'to a safe place' by yodel, so I'm intrigued to see where the parcel is when I get home. I had some cheap lino delivered yesterday, 4m high, and they left it propped against the front of my house Hmm.

I've been reading like a queen by Constance Hall, who has some good tips about getting babies to learn that night time means sleeping, such as not bringing the baby out of the room once its been put to bed, and if baby is crying, then go and comfort, but don't turn the lights on which seems good advice to me.

My friends baby (about 8-9 months now) sleeps over 12 hours every day, which although the thought seems great, is that healthy for a baby that young?

Badgerbird · 19/01/2017 15:59

Can't remember who asked but pregnancy club isn't same as antenatal classes. It's led by midwife and there is a questions and answers session where we can ask all the stuff we've been wondering about. Also great coz others ask questions I hadn't thought of. Answers were very thorough. Then a guest speaker or particular topic. We did SIDS which was very informative and I learnt loads. Of course you get to meet other local mums to be and there's tea and biscuits. And you get free vitamins. And it's totally free! brilliant! Well done & thankyou NHS! Can you tell I'm a fan?! Smile

mrscrocopop · 19/01/2017 16:10

I have also braved the Aldi event today. Got some blankets, socks and spine reusable nappies. Bargain.
For who ever asked - the socks seem ok quality but can't comment on the scratch mitts as they didn't have these in the store I went in.
I can't keep up with this thread! You're a chatty bunch! Smile

mrscrocopop · 19/01/2017 16:10

*some reusable nappies, not spine! Confused

savagehk · 19/01/2017 16:16

sock-wise, these are fabulous. Most other socks fall off (you may have good results with 'sock ons' if you already have other socks - we never had to use any as we were given a set of these, which lasted ages and were fantastic.) www.trumpette.com/

Autumnsweater · 19/01/2017 16:17

I went to Aldi today, got a Moses basket, a box of newborn nappies, swaddle blanket, set of 3 muslin cloths, tights and a fleece blanket - all for £40!

How many muslin cloths should get in?

lucieloos · 19/01/2017 16:21

Autumn, I'm aiming for 10-15 muslins.

EsmesBees · 19/01/2017 16:33

When I was expecting the first time everyone said you can never have too many muslins. So I ended up with about 20 of them which is far too many. But then my DD wasn't a sicky baby and never driddled her milk.

If you buy some would recommend coloured or patterned ones so you can differentiate between the clean and dirty ones easily. Also the extra large ones are great for swaddling or as blankets when it's really warm in the summer.

savagehk · 19/01/2017 16:34

We didn't have a sicky baby (or one that needed burping) so didn't actually need any muslins first time around. We had about 6 perhaps, which we carted around for a few weeks in case. If you have a sicky baby you'll probably need more, but you can buy later if needed.

Autumnsweater · 19/01/2017 17:05

Thanks everyone. I'm getting decision making paralysis with all this stuff! I got three patterned ones from Aldi so I'll maybe look for a couple that can double up as a light summer blanket and then leave it at that, see how sicky my baby is!

MrsJW15 · 19/01/2017 17:25

Jealous of you all going into Aldi! There aren't any around here.

mrscrocopop · 19/01/2017 17:56

MrsJW15 - you can buy all the stuff from the mother and baby event online x

RasperryInAMelon · 19/01/2017 18:03

There's an awful lot that's store only now 😔
