Thanks McBaby I'll check out the website. I've been sleeping with a pillow between my legs and wake up ok, it's the afternoon and evening that's the worst. I'll see if I can get into see my GP this week to see if there's anything they can do if not I'll have to wait until my midwife appointment at the end of the month.

22WR · 04/01/2017 21:48

Thanks Rustler and MrsC. I feel a lot better having told someone and having someone say I'm not the horrible person I fear I may be.

I don't think I realised how much I was pinning on the baby being a girl. I didn't really realise that I've actually been trying to recreate the first experience but with positive experiences.

I've mentioned to the midwife at my first appointment but since then I've been feeling really positive and so haven't mentioned it since. Maybe I need to mention it to her again as I really don't want to slip back into a negative mindset.

Several friends of ours have recently had babies and a couple are currently expecting, and it seems that everyone is really positive about the whole experience, so it makes it hard to talk to anyone about it who we know. It really is such a taboo. And it makes it even worse feeling that you're the only one who feels this way.

Hi!

Mind if I join you?

23 weeks today with #2. My little tinker of a son is just 11months tomorrow! Anyone else with a small gap? It took us 3.5 years to have DS and one unplanned quickie to conceive this one! I guess life had a plan for us!

I'm feeling the aches and pains much much sooner this time, I guess my poor body didn't have much recovery time, plus having a baby to look after means those decadent naps and feet up sessions are a thing of the past!

EDD is 3rd May, but likely to have ELCS on either 26/27/28 April or 2nd May.

Just place marking for the moment... Back later Smile

22WR - I know what you mean! I had a strong preference and would feel guilty when I heard people say they didn't mind as long as it's healthy... I felt I would be ungrateful somehow... but in reality I think a lot of people do have a preference deep down... its human nature to have wants/hopes/fears.

I would deffo talk to your midwife again; sometimes just saying it & having someone else accept it (which in all likelihood she will, she will have met other people the same!) can do wonders for internal struggles like this. Once you've SAID IT (eek!) and got through the anxiety of being judged (which you shouldn't be, as someone else said, you are allowed feelings) you might get past that block and be able to think about this as a new pregnancy with new experiences & new hopes.

Hope it goes well for you x

Rabbitykins55 · 04/01/2017 22:19

22WR I hope you feel better soon. You aren't a horrible person at all. Flowers I think it's very brave to say how you feel and I really respect you for that. Smile

Adventuregame · 04/01/2017 22:49

22WR I massively wanted a girl and after finding out its a boy I woke DH up at 4am crying ! That was nearly 10 weeks ago and a couple of cute baby boys clothes later I'm just about getting used to the idea !!

Thanks everyone. It's reassuring to hear that others understand too! X

Placemarking thanks for the new thread.

Autumnsweater · 05/01/2017 06:38

Had my 20 week scan yesterday, all ok thankfully. Get so nervous beforehand. Feel like I have the green light to start preparing now, currently the only thing I've bought is a set of cute bibs!!

My 25 week appointment is with the midwife, they told me at the last appointment that the midwife would give me the whooping cough vaccination at this one.

I have had a sore back/bum - my Google diagnosis says it's Piriformis syndrome. Going to ring the midwife office this morning to ask for physio referral, if that isn't possible then make a GP appointment. Intermittently so painful to walk with it!!

Sipperskipper · 05/01/2017 06:45

Just marking my place!. Good luck with scans today!

WishIWasSleeping · 05/01/2017 08:05

Peached - how far gone are you? My notes say to go for my whooping cough between 24-28wks..?
Probably have to book my GTT soon too... should check that!
And THANK YOU Flowers to whoever suggested a pillow between lower legs! I would never have thought to do this, and it's really helped with my hip and back pain. Last pregnancy I tried pillows between the thighs and under bump but it didn't help.

RasperryInAMelon · 05/01/2017 08:39

Scan day!! Grin

Adventuregame · 05/01/2017 08:43

Is this your 20 week scan Rasperry ?

PeachIcedT · 05/01/2017 08:46

Wishiwassleeping I had it yesterday at 21+3. The advice on NHS website says anytime from 20 weeks after scan, seems fine to have it later on. The advice really seems to vary though! My arm feels just like it did post-flu jab.

Streaky17 · 05/01/2017 08:58

Good work on new thread. Whooping jab day here.

Still no movement (anterior placenta) but they were kicking each other during the scan a few days ago. So I'm trying not to worry.

Has anyone got alternatives they are considering instead of moses basket for daytime downstairs sleeping? We won't be getting carrycots with our buggy so can't use those.

teainbed · 05/01/2017 09:02

Morning. Good luck with the scans today.

RasperryInAMelon · 05/01/2017 09:06

It is indeed Adventure! I'll get the new list posted later too!

beachsands · 05/01/2017 09:08

Had whooping cough vaccine yesterday and I was expecting it o be bad but it was fine. My arm felt (and looked) worse after a flu jab.

Teaspoon74 · 05/01/2017 09:19

Congrats on a good scan Autumn and good luck today Rasperry!

peasandquiet · 05/01/2017 09:38

Streaky, I'd get a sleepyhead for downstairs ! I'm bias tho due to bad sleeper with number 1 I'll try anything with this baby!!

Nervous for scan later on. good luck to you raspberry, are you finding out the sex?

lucieloos · 05/01/2017 09:47

I was going to suggest sleepyhead too. Think we are going to get one for in the crib. They get rave reviews.

Teaspoon74 · 05/01/2017 10:24

Good luck Peas!

Spam88 · 05/01/2017 10:32

Streaky I think we've settled on getting a travel cot for downstairs - we were going to get one anyway for when we visit family so saves us buying yet another bed-type thing.

I've been so sore the last few days, feel like someone's punched me in the perineum (pretty sure they haven't...). Going to see how it goes over the next few days but if it doesn't improve, should I be calling my midwife or seeing the gp? I don't have a midwife appointment until February now so don't really want to wait until then.

Feeling pretty miserable today after a dreadful nights sleep thanks to pelvic pain, rib pain, back pain and a dream about my wedding ring breaking that was for more upsetting than it should have been. Have my 20 week scan this afternoon though so hopefully that'll cheer me up! And my first yoga class tonight, so fingers crossed for some relief from the pain.

RasperryInAMelon · 05/01/2017 10:47

Fingers crossed to those with scans this afternoon - sure all will be fine.

Little girlie is breech and my anterior placenta has moved up nicely so as sad as I am that I won't see her again now, pleased that everything has moved in the right direction!

She looks beyond perfect already, just can't wait to meet her now! 💕🎀
