We didn't use a Moses basket with DS Streaky we just kind of held him. I look back on those days very fondly. Might be a different story with number 2 though and a toddler to look after!

Raspberry how did you find out about your low lying placenta? Awesome that it's moved up already! Just found out I have one at my 20wk scan Confused

PeachIcedT · 05/01/2017 16:13

The spreadsheet is great rasperry it's well laid out! Congrats on your scan to all having it today.

Fox I also have been told my placenta is low - I don't know if there is anything I can do/shouldn't do to help it move or whether it's nothing I can intervene on Confused

Rustler74 · 05/01/2017 16:40

Hi ladies!
I had my scan thus morning. The lady took so many measurements and was explaining everything well. All going well with growth and the organs and brains are developing well. I had to get up and jump up and down to get baby moving. Before that, baby was asleep on its side with arm over it's head, no idea who they got that from Grin
I was told when to look away as to not see the gender but my cheeky OH kept looking intently and thinks he knows. Anyway it's written on a card in a sealed envelope and I'm hoping not to see the envelope opened at all.
I thought the experience was pretty intense as baby has now grown incredibly much since the 12 week scan.
I think I'll only buy non gender specific clothes and accessories as to not pin my head on either boy or girl.
Situation of going back to work is still heavily on my mind, and I'm dreading next week's appointment with occu health at one of my jobs. Luckily the team lead of the other employer is so understanding.
Stress is not good and hormones are not helping.

RasperryInAMelon · 05/01/2017 16:41

Fox I had a private gender scan at 16 weeks just before Christmas and the sonographer there mentioned I had a low lying anterior placenta.

When I went in for my scan this morning, the NHS Sonographer confirmed its anterior, but said no need to come back as its moved up nice and high now Smile

Now that I've finally had a proper play around with the spreadsheet - anyone who accesses it should be able to also edit it, so please feel free to update your details, or let me know and I'll do it at work, no problem.

Thought the location was a nice touch - means if people are in local areas they could choose to meet or chat privately.

Rustler how did your scan go today?

I have my Whopping cough next week at 21+1 and then that's me done with appointments until Feb! Where is the time disappearing to!!?? Shock

RasperryInAMelon · 05/01/2017 16:44

Ah! Crosspost Rustler - that 20 week scan really makes the mind boggle eh!?...

I couldn't get over how much more was visible, all the heart chambers, fingers, bones etc

Teaspoon74 · 05/01/2017 16:58

Congrats Rasp - lovely pic.

Good luck for tomoz Redblu.

Bit the bullet and bought a pram last night. All getting a bit real now - first big ticket but Confused

1004Rise · 05/01/2017 17:08

You're doing a grand job Rasperry GrinGrin

Can't believe there are so many of us!! ShockGuess that explains why we're on the 6th thread already chatty bunch we are!!

Being back at work is officially rubbish.... my todo list is a page long, people have done stupid annoying things while I've been off and my brain is mince! When is the weekend?!

Rustler74 · 05/01/2017 17:11

Me too I have an anterior placenta but so far it hasn't stopped me from feeling lots of flutters and some strong kicks.
Quite funny how we posted with a minute difference Raspberry
Can't find the spreadsheet....

Oh and the image for you, after the jumping up and down! Cheeky other half didn't feel keen for me to post an image but he shouldn't have peeked for the gender nah nah!

I have most of my maternity clothes from Jojomamanbebe. Love it as they seem well made and feel so soft on my skin! Also reasonable particularly now with the sale!

Sipperskipper · 05/01/2017 17:24

Thanks for the spreadsheet raspberry! Have tried to update but it won't let me edit - my due date is now 8th May, sex girl, age 31 and location is South Essex. Thanks!

Beautiful scans! Its all getting so real....

PeachIcedT · 05/01/2017 17:27

I agree the detail in the anomaly scan is amazing, I didn't expect to be told 'here is the gall bladder' and the blood flowing through the kidneys through those changing colours. And all just by pressing a probe to the bump, it's great!

Rabbitykins55 · 05/01/2017 17:42

Lovely scans today!

I also have much love for the spreadsheet Raspberry! Smile

RasperryInAMelon · 05/01/2017 17:50

Strange that you cant edit the spreadsheet Rabbitykins I've deffo opened it up so that anyone who has the link can edit it and I think a few ladies have added their ages and locations already.

As I say, anyone who cant for any reason, let me know and I'll happily do it.

For those who missed it / cant find the link - here it is:

RasperryInAMelon · 05/01/2017 17:51

Literally loosing my mind... Rabbity it wasn't you who said you couldn't edit - Sipper I've updated for you, let me know if I've screwed that up too... Confused

coxsorangepippin · 05/01/2017 18:09

Hello all!
For those of you with pelvic pain - my experience so far is that massage at a Physio centre did zilch, while craniosacral therapy gave me several brilliant days before the pain returned. Now waiting for NHS Physio exercise class next week, fingers crossed.

Have bought nothing so far - need to clear some space first and I think will try to see what we can borrow from friends before buying anything.

peasandquiet · 05/01/2017 18:22

All went well this afternoon, baby is normal size which is a relief, two more growth scans to come which hopefully will just be a nice chance to see the baby again before d day!
Haven't bought anything for this baby but as no 2 we have all the big stuff.

WishIWasSleeping · 05/01/2017 18:46

Lucie - most seats don't come with an isofix base unless there's a special offer. The maxi cosi one you have has a specific base, I think if you go on their website it gives you the details. Some bases cover more than one seat too. We wondered about 2 bases, but as hubby only has her without me for one day we didn't really need one in the end. Plus the bases are fairly easy to move if you can get to your cars anchor points. (Heavier than the seats though!)

yellowismyfavourite · 05/01/2017 19:10

Lucie we also have bought the cabriofix. It hasn't arrived yet but I think it attaches by an isofix or by seat belt. We got the isofix with the car seat and the pushchair

Badgerbird · 05/01/2017 19:14

Aha here you all are on new thread!

Yay to all these wonderful scans!! It's so exciting isn't it and such a relief to see our little wrigglers Smile

Going to NHS antenatal classes in April :) not sure what to expect!

rabbity that sounds horrid! Maybe book gp appointment anyway and get the ball rolling. When I asked about back pain mw told me to see gp. Oops just saw yours are not helpful atall!! I'd push it, you can't be in pain for another 5 months! Good luck!

yellow not sad but get very happy or very angry at the momentEnvy it seems to come out of nowhere! My DH has nicknamed me humpy bumpy after I threw Tupperware around the kitchen yesterday!

22wr please try not feel bad, I've seen others post about this and I feel it's totally understandable. Remember the hormones won't help either.

red we haven't bought anything yet either. A friend dropped round a bag of baby clothes she's finished with yesterday and I feel like I'm in denial Shock

foxmulder my placenta is still anterior and sonographer haven't said anything about it moving :(

FatOldBag · 05/01/2017 19:15

Great spreadsheet, well done raspberry and thank you!

hexagon01 · 05/01/2017 19:19

Hi all, not posted much but have been following your chat.

We have just ordered a pram, after going on the Silver Cross website and noticing the Outlet section. We managed to get a red Wayfarer for £440 (which is at least £160 cheaper than I saw them before Christmas, and the prices seem to have gone up since too!). I think it's just because they're selling off last seasons colours. It comes with everything too.

I didn't want to order anything big quite yet at 22 weeks but it's the pram we were going to get (as we're being given a Simplicity car seat), and it seemed like too good an offer to miss.

Just thought I'd mention in case it's of any use to anyone - I'm sure other brands have Outlet sections on their websites too :)

WishIWasSleeping · 05/01/2017 19:52

Lucie - I meant to add what yellow said! - we use the seatbelt in hubbys car during the week, and isofix base in mine. We (I make him do all the lifting and moving!) swap over at the weekend if we're heading out in the opposite car! x

lucieloos · 05/01/2017 19:59

Oh I didn't realise you could use seat belts I thought you had to have the base? I seriously know nothing about car seats at the moment. What's the advantage of buying the base over using seat belts?

Barnes79 · 05/01/2017 20:15

Lucie - I've got the maxicosi cabriofix seat with the i-size base. My understanding (based on a long discussion with an assistant in a nursery shop) is...

  • The seatbelt is fine, but bigger margin for error in fitting it in the car. Also, you tend to have to undo the seatbelt (I think) to put the child in each time, so it takes a bit more time and can be more fiddly leaning over a screaming, kicking baby.
  • current legislation isofix base - less error in its fitting as the maxicosi base has lights which show it's fitted correctly. Also, the seat just clicks in and out so is quick and easy to put in and out once the base is in.
  • the new i-size base (legislation says only i-size compatible car seats can be made from 2018 onwards, so I'm interpreting it that you would struggle to buy a non i-size seat then too) is as for the isofix base mentioned above but can be used rear facing for longer and has, I think, it's own roll bar (or something) which makes it safer than the isofix one.

The maxicosi seat will work up to about 12-15mths, so the next size up would need to be purchased in 2018 when the i-size legislation is in force. That was what made us pick the i-size one even though it's more expensive (by about £40) as we thought it may also be easier to sell on when we no longer need it and also removes the risk of having to buy a new base in 2018 when we need the next size car seat.

We plan to use the base in the main car and just use the seatbelt on the odd occasion we use our second car.

Hope that helps Grin

EsmesBees · 05/01/2017 20:21

Lucie- we've never had a base and only ever used the seat belt (we hardly ever use the car). It is more fiddly to use the seat belt, but you get better at it the more you do it. If you fit it correctly it's the same in terms of safety.

The newborn seat was not really an issue. It did restrict our choice of 1+ seats though.

WishIWasSleeping · 05/01/2017 20:32

It's so much easier to push a button and lift the seat out of a base than to unravel from a seatbelt... but to be fair she's too heavy to lift in the seat now anyway so time for a new seat for us! I just leave the seat on its base in the car and only have to wrestle with the straps holding her in... Fab timing as we can reuse our maxi cosi I size for number 2!
I think there's more padding and side protection in an I size - I don't remember what the shop assistant said all that time ago! I think the isize law is in effect now, but along side the old law. The only thing I think I remember is it'll be law to have them rear facing until 18m...?!
