MrsG that's one of my concerns too, the only other person that can run my department is off next week so I kinda need to make sure I can squeeze work around my scan whenever it is lol it's the not knowing!!! Frustrating lol
To be fair I have cut out a lot of chocolate but my take always have made up for it. 3 macdonalds and 2 chippys. I normally have one fast food a year at a push lol
Oh my gosh I want dungarees!!! Grin

MrsG280516 · 30/01/2017 14:06

I've just had a phone call back from the hospital and they have me in next Wednesday at 11.40. Such an awkward time, if I go to work beforehand then I'd have to leave at 11am anyway to get to the hospital in time. Hopefully going to work from home then go into work after the scan.

thenorthernluce · 30/01/2017 14:31

Mrs G, the appointment plus travel time is work time, so if your workplace and the hospital aren't too far apart, there's no disadvantage to going into work first.

MrsG280516 · 30/01/2017 15:49

thenorthernluce it's a 40 mile round trip from work so its more about saving myself some petrol really! The hospital is only 4 miles from my house so much better if I can just work from home. Once I tell work I'm pregnant then I'll probably work from home more to fit around the midwife appointments.

thenorthernluce · 30/01/2017 18:00

Working from home = winning! I've done that for all my ante natal appointments so far, and work are really accommodating of that. Must remember that next time I grumble...Smile

clevername · 31/01/2017 11:33

Anyone else still crippled by tiredness? I'm 11 weeks tomorrow and have been unbelievably knackered for the last few days... I'm so drained that I can't face doing much more than sitting on the sofa (lucky I'm off work today but I'm back tomorrow and really dreading it. Even the thought of figuring out what to wear and ironing my clothes is horrible! My poor daughter is watching a lot more TV than I'd like too!).

I thought my energy had come back but it seems to have disappeared completely. Don't remember feeling this exhausted in my first pregnancy. Can any of you who are further along reassure me that it will pass?!

ZigAZigAhh · 31/01/2017 11:49

Hi clever - I'm 11+1 and feeling exactly the same. I think a lot of it is due to having a very active DC1 and not being able to sleep in/rest nearly as much as I was able to the first time around, plus the fact we are both ill at the moment! I remember hitting 14 weeks last time and it was though a switch had been turned on - I was almost euphoric at how much better I felt, so am counting down the weeks and hoping it happens again this time around.

Congrats to all those with happy scans!! All very exciting. 6 days to go for me and to be honest I'm feeling a bit negative and as though I need to manage my expectations. We told a few friends on the weekend (we were out with them and it was going to be very difficult to not say anything!) and I then immediately panicked that we had jinxed everything. Silly I know but I'm finding it hard to relax.

clevername · 31/01/2017 12:03

Thanks Zig - I so hope this passes soon. Makes sense that having a DC1 means less chilling/downtime this time around. I probably was just as knackered before but I just don't remember it (it was 4 years ago, I suppose)!

I think we might be scan day buddies - mines on Tuesday (week today). I feel the same as you - I've told a couple of people (largely out of necessity) and plan on telling work tomorrow so I can get the time off for the scan (I'm a teacher so they are so reluctant to let you have time off, especially as I'm part time!). Keep telling myself that if it wasn't to work out, I'd probably tell the people I've told (if that makes sense?!). I'm sure it'll be fine - it is in the vast majority of cases (but I suppose that doesn't stop us thinking about the times when it isn't).

thisismee · 31/01/2017 12:17

Clever I'm 14 weeks tomorrow and have been like you describe for weeks. It's so hard , if I get up and do too much ect I end up dizzy feeling exhausted and start being sick! I'm not working as I am a SAHM my poor DS I feel awful.

Zig you have given me hope! Fingers crossed my energy returns this week.

ZigAZigAhh · 31/01/2017 14:43

clever - my scan is on Monday (so actually 5 days away, d'oh - pregnancy brain!) Completely agree that there's no point worrying as what will be will be (but yes, definitely easier said than done, especially for a born worrier Wink)

this - I really hope that this is your week! Will keep my fingers crossed!

thisismee · 31/01/2017 15:07

Thanks zig I hope Monday comes around fast for you. And Tuesday for you clever . It is so worrying but I'm sure everything will be ok. Smile

clevername · 31/01/2017 16:55

Zig - oh OK (I never know whether to count the day I'm on or not! Ha ha!). Good luck for Monday. I'm a total and utter worry wart too, but I'm sure it'll be fine.

this - thank you. Hope you get your energy boost ASAP!

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 31/01/2017 17:04

Just had my scan & my official edd is 11/8 so only a 3 day change Smile. Baby was nice & wriggly.

clevername · 31/01/2017 17:07

Congrats Bernard!
11/8 is my birthday!

TMI26 · 31/01/2017 18:19

Good luck with your scans zig and this, it's only natural to feel nervous am sure it will be fine, I've been signed off another week, apparently damaged the lining of my gut and stomach which means I can't keep anything down and have no energy ....can't wait to get better again :(

ZigAZigAhh · 31/01/2017 18:33

Congrats Bernards, what lovely news!

Thanks TMI - you poor thing, that sounds awful Sad as if pregnancy isn't hard enough as it is! Wishing you a very speedy recovery.

WantingBaby1 · 31/01/2017 19:43

Congrats bernard!

On the clothes front I've found the new look leggings absolutely amazing! Nice and stretchy and bump-covering. I've worn them since about 11 wks.

As for maternity tights I found these to constantly fall down until I read a tip of wearing a top underneath a dress and putting the tights over the top. The extra friction keeps them up. I got mine from new look and they're fine as long as I wear them that way.

The tiredness seems to have eased up a bit this week, I'm 13 wks tomorrow, but headaches have made an appearance :(

calimommy · 31/01/2017 20:59

Hi all, I'm going to tentatively join your group although I'm technically a September baby, my EDD is the 8th, but I've had two babies and I've never made it past 38+5 weeks. So I think I'll linger in the background in case.

BlueIguana · 01/02/2017 00:47

Hey Wanting - I wear a pair of knickers (usually a thong) over the top of tights (as well as under!) and keeps them up a treat plus stops annoying sagging!

Welcome Cali!

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 01/02/2017 07:22

Thank you folks Smile. I had a scan last week too but it feels nice finally having a date.

Calimommy I'm similar to you, this is our 5th but I've delivered them all before edd I'm crossing my fingers for an August baby but won't be massively shocked if I end up with a late July one.

Brainfried1986 · 01/02/2017 07:30

Wahoo! Finally seeing midwife for booking in today! Felt like forever to wait... still a nervous 12 day wait for my scan, but at least after today I'll have a midwife hotline in case I need it :) 10+1 today and think time is actually slowing down!!!

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 01/02/2017 07:38

Hope it goes well Brain! I've not even had my appt come through for my booking yet. My mw wanted me scanned 1st so hopefully she'll be in touch now I've had that. And yes time does really odd things when you're pregnant!

Kirstyinnorway · 01/02/2017 08:25

Invaluable tights info there! I've Nr bought mat ones yet but it drives me mad if mine fall down!

Hello Cali Smile

Congrats on the wiggly baby scan Bernards

Yay for booking in Brain, I'm exactly the same as you re: time... What is happening?! It's like swimming though treacle. According to my calcs I'm 10+2 today but ultrasound lady puts me at 10+6... I want to take the later one just so that I feel like I'm getting somewhere Grin

firsttimer12345 · 01/02/2017 08:27

13+2 here and my sickness is worse this week. Have been sick everyday since Saturday where as before that was only being sick every few days or sometimes even just once a week!

When will this end?!?!?

thenorthernluce · 01/02/2017 08:43

Hello gang, I have a question about supplements: I have been taking conception vitamins for about 18 months (Seven Seas Trying for a Baby), and at my booking appointment, the midwife told me that I shouldn't stop taking it dead on 12 weeks, but just use up the last packet, which ends on Sunday this week.

One thing I didn't ask was whether I should be taking pregnancy supplements instead. I already take Vit D and an Omega 3 6 9 supplements everyday, but should I add in anything else at this time? I was looking at the pregnancy supplements in Boots yesterday and they seem to be folic acid, Vit D and optional Omega 3, so should I just buy some folic acid?

My next appointment with the midwife isn't for three weeks, so I was hoping someone more knowledgeable out there might be able to help!
