kirsty that's a lovely photo, do you feel reassured by it?

Sparklyuggs · 27/01/2017 22:08

Welcome to the newbies, and for anyone who is interested there's a secret Facebook group.

BlueIguana · 28/01/2017 00:33

Lovely Kirsty! Hope you're feeling much better now!

OkyDoke - yes I have this and this is why I take daily Clexane injections (blood thinners) and baby aspirin. Do you know what test identified and if you need it repeating?

Kirstyinnorway · 28/01/2017 05:33

Thank you lixon, zig, sparkly and blue! I feel much much much calmer now, said to DH that it was probably the best/most worthwhile £89 we'd ever spent and he agreed. I think he was particularly blown away - he was excited for a scan of course, but I think he thought it would just be a wee blob, not a little being with visible arm/leg buds that was moving and waving! He was more going along with it just for me.

Today I get to tell my two closest friends over here and I'm so excited!

westy that's great you are moving! Packing is one of those things that just extends to fill whatever time you allocate for it (plus about 12 hours). So don't give it too much! DH and I packed up all our stuff to go to Norway in less than 3 days... We were brutal and aside from one much-loved jumper that never showed up, we didn't miss any of the things that we chucked/put to charity!

OkyDoke · 28/01/2017 08:51

Blue - dont know many details unfortunately. They said i was borderline and to book a full blood test for two weeks time which is not for a week and a half yet. Have not been put on any meds etc yet but expect this will happen after second blood test if it is still elevated? Got the whole go to a&e if you get breathless or any hot patches of skin though!

MrsG280516 · 28/01/2017 11:38

Lovely scan Kirsty so happy for you Smile

Rainydayzandmondays13 · 28/01/2017 12:18

Hi everyone hope I am not too late to join? I'm pregnant with baby number too currently 11+3 with EDD 16/08. I have a 14 month old who won't be far off being two when little one is here (scary lol)
Impatiently waiting for my scan on the 7th Feb. Feels like time is dragging.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 28/01/2017 12:57

Sparkly I'd be interested in the fb group, could you pm the details please? I would send you my name but I'm untraceable on fb so it wouldn't be much use Blush

clevername · 28/01/2017 13:51

I've got my scan on the 7th, too, Rainy. Also number two for me (although my DD will be nearly 4 when this one is due).

Really scared about the challenges ahead re - having another baby to look after... the first time round, I only had her to worry about - so worried I won't be able to manage it very well! I keep telling myself that women have been doing this for millennia but still can't shake the nerves. I suppose it's natural! And I'm sure it'll be OK... Confused

Sparklyuggs · 28/01/2017 13:51

Bernadette and anyone else wanting to join please pm me your email address.

clevername · 28/01/2017 13:52

Also... skin. I'm breakout central at the moment. I look so gross. I don't remember this first time around.

When does the glowing/lush complexion thing start to happen?!!

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 28/01/2017 14:06

You'll be fine clever they just sort of slot in Smile. The decent complexion thing hardly ever appears for me & if it does it last for oh about 48 hours, haha.

clevername · 28/01/2017 14:15

Thanks for the reassurance, Bernards (and oh well about the skin... ha ha!)

Heatherbaby · 28/01/2017 14:40

Hi everyone

Another happy scan here! We went this morning and it was such an amazing experience.

I always thought the image would take some "searching" to appear but as soon as they put the stick thing on my tummy I could see the baby and the heartbeat! Was so emotional and amazing to see a healthy baby.

It makes it so much more real! Dh and I are one cloud 9!

I had the tests done for downs and bloods were taken. Everything seems ok Smile

This is the stage we can now tell everyone but me and my big mouth has already told everyone weeks ago!

Can't wait for you all to have your scans, you will love it. And congrats to all who've had theirs :)

Catherinebee85 · 28/01/2017 15:16

For the people who've had scans recently....how long did it take? I've got mine at 08.40 which is just after I finish a night shift and I'm back at work that night! Wondering if I'll actually have time to sleep!

slpro · 28/01/2017 15:45

Catherine if it's just a scan i.e not seeing midwife or dr it will only take 5-10 mins for a dating scan. If you are having an nt scan as well it may take a bit longer is baby is in an awkward position or your bladder isn't full enough. Doubt you will sleep much after it though you will be so excited! X

Heatherbaby · 28/01/2017 16:10

catherine I was seen 20 mins after my appointment time and also had to wait a little while to get my bloods done for the down screening. Overall we were there an hour and a half according to the car park meter!

BlueIguana · 28/01/2017 22:42

Welcome Rainydayz!

Oky - Ok - my level of an antibody were more than double normal so they retested after 3 months (well I was ttc) and they were still over twice normal levels. They retest I believe as can be elevated due to cold/ fever/ sickness etc. So if your levels were boarder line and it is a bad time of year for sickness etc. the levels could well be normal on retest. I'd try no to worry and I think (or though clearly I'm no expert) that if they had a concern they would have put you on available meds as a precaution until they retested. Hope your levels are normal on your retest and you don't have to take the same meds as me as my daily injections cause very bad bruising! X

Brainfried1986 · 29/01/2017 18:24

Hi ladies,

So pleased to hear about all the lovely scans taking place :) I'm counting down the (15) days until I get mine. Seeing the midwife for booking in on Wednesday and hopefully the blood taking will be ok (I always have to lie down so I don't faint!).

Anyone got any good ideas for beating the 'end of the day blues'? At the moment I feel crap every evening, partly tired and physically drained, partly emotional stuff. I used to have bad depression so the poor self-esteem rears its ugly head a lot at the mo... particularly cos I've already gained just under 8lbs this pregnancy, and not even at 10wks yet :(

Sparklyuggs · 29/01/2017 18:33

brainfried I felt the same, and especially at the early stage weight gain made me feel chubby whereas at 14 weeks it's definitely looking more like a bump which is nice.

Treat wise, could you get some face masks and nail varnish and have a 20-30 min pamper? I like those sheet masks as there's no rinsing off/ staining the towels; and painting my nails makes me feel more human. TK maxx sell the face masks cheap- £5 for a pack of five or Amazon. I rate Barry M nail varnish.

OkyDoke · 29/01/2017 18:50

Thank you Blue! In that case I think ill be even worse on retest, ive got a cold now! Mission of the week is to get rid of this cold in that case I think. Youre probably right that if they were concerned they would have put me on some drugs already. I hope the results dont take too long to come through.

Had an early scan today. Well not that early ten weeks tomorrow. All looks good apparently, baby is measuring one day different, moving my due date from 28th to 27th! Very pleased to see a little heartbeat. So surreal!
