So reducing the tablets was a baaad idea. Relapsed with severe sickness and off work today. Feeling quite depressed, house such a state and DH is poorly and really struggling too. Just taking it in shifts to look after DD.

Hating it at the mo, just want my life back!

ScottishLady7 · 09/01/2017 17:44

Oh bellybean that sounds miserable. At least it sounds like the mess work for you though so hopefully increasing them back up should help?

After an afternoon of sickness and exhaustion (suspected pregnancy related) I now have been struck down with diarrhoea so I think actually I may have a bug...
Worried about the little bean and hoping it doesn't get too unsettled!

ZigAZigAhh · 09/01/2017 17:50

Sending Flowers to everyone who is having a miserable time Sad

Mistletoe - my boobs weren't sore with DC1 either and I remember feeling very nervous about it (especially when my mum was so surprised as hers were very sore during pregnancy so I couldn't blame genetics!) Just one of those things I guess!

ClaraLane · 09/01/2017 17:50

Had my midwife appointment today, woohoo! I'm 10+6 and the all-day nausea has come back with a vengeance recently. I've got absolutely no desire to eat anything because I just feel so sick al the time, hope it goes away soon.

Appointment went well except for her not being able to get as much blood as she needed even after trying both arms so I'm now feeling very sore! My scan date will be sent in the post so I'm hoping I get it soon. I've definitely got a bit of a tummy and have already bought new bras because my old ones were too tight around my ribs.

Lixon · 09/01/2017 17:57

I'm so sorry to hear that BellyBean, that sounds so rubbish. Can you up the dose again yourself? Fingers crossed you feel better soon.

Same to you jaffa, although well done for the hair washing and attempted leg shaving - hopefully there's a mental benefit if nothing else.

Great news on the scan Rose although I know what you mean on the early dating, I'm sure it will fly by once we get to 12 weeks..

Rocco I would definitely try and speak to your new GP (if you have one already?) to find out what procedure is at least even if you cant book anything yet. In my borough you have to get a GP appointment then they refer you to midwife and scan separately but others seem to be self-referring or the midwife booking scan etc.

I've had a funny few days, some spotting and cramping over the weekend which made me very anxious but I felt like I was overreacting so didnt go to A&E as I had a midwife appointment this morning. the midwife I saw was pretty useless ("oh you should have gone to A&E at the weekend, nothing I can do now. If I was you I would have gone to A&E.. ") but after making a bit of a fuss I now have a scan at EPU tomorrow. I've been very anxious due to miscarriage history and so getting an extra reassurance (or not..) will come as a relief. I've had nausea when hungry but no actual sickness and I am normally a very sicky person (carsick, seasick etc) which I know makes you more likely to get it so have been paranoid that's a sign of something wrong etc

Lixon · 09/01/2017 18:16

Good news on the midwife appointment Clara, although rubbish about the blood - does that mean you need to go back another day? I was assured the first appointment is the worst in terms of how much they need so hopefully next time won't be as bad.. Hopefully your sickness improves soon as well.

thesnuggleisreal · 09/01/2017 19:00

Oops TMI26 you are right! I'm 10+4 embarrassing can't believe I got that wrong, what an illustrious start to my mumsnet participation!

Sorry to hear others have been struggling with feeling poorly Flowers

Emeraude · 09/01/2017 19:17

Lixon Do you mean the worst in terms of amount of blood? I hope so. They took 3 vials from me and I did not feel good.

Watermelon2016 · 09/01/2017 19:56

Glad you've managed to get an appointment Lixon; will be thinking of you.
Thoughts also to those suffering. I'm 9+3 and paranoid with the lack of symptoms. Having said that I've just cried my way through FaceTime with the other half who is away on business after a crappy booking in appointment today. Can I have a rant?
Appointment booked for 11.30. At 12.15 I still hadn't been called; asked what was going on to be told there was a locum midwife who was running very late. Got in at 12.30; explained I was anxious after MMC at 11 weeks in June but felt I got zero reassurance. She didn't answer half my questions but did the bloods and urine etc. She filled in all the medical history forms but gave me no real information apart from the screening booklet. Asked her lots of questions about advantages of NIPT privately but she didn't really give me any answers. Have come away feeling even more anxious, lonely, and frustrated. No information on next steps etc just that I'll get a scan date in the post and I should book a flu jab in. Not sure what I expected; maybe some reassurance??
And to top off a horrible day I have a streaming rotten cold.
Whinge over. I'm not usually overly melodramatic; I blame the hot ribena....

hrfvenia · 09/01/2017 20:17

What's everyone's suggestions re: bras?

A friend of mine has said to go straight for maternity bras but I am hesitant to do so because I haven't had my scan yet and I'm so nervous of doing anything until then!

I'm considering basic Tesco bras, I'm big already (36D) and the veins all over my body are horrid. Only suggesting they'll grow more so don't want to spend lots.

Shall I get basic Tesco to see me through till next Friday (scan date) and go from there?

Hope everybody is feeling well ❤️

Emeraude · 09/01/2017 20:34

I got a couple of maternity bras from Mothercare a few weeks ago and they made an immediate difference to how much my boobs hurt during the day. They are all I wear now, despite getting them too big.

Watermelon Sorry to hear about your booking appointment. Just going into any medical appointment late I find incredibly stressful as it's never anything I want to be at anyway. Did you get your notes that you're supposed to carry around everywhere? Mine has a run down of what medical professionals to see and when. Hopefully won't be long before you get your scan date.

swimchick1980 · 09/01/2017 20:49

Flowers to everyone suffering from sickness and/or encountering unsympathetic/unresponsive doctors and midwives. It really doesn't make the whole thing any easier does it??

I have my booking in appt on the 18th ans scan on 10th of Feb. As soon as I phoned up, I was given dates and times and hear were followed up in writing, so been a good experience for me so far thankfully. I also asked to change hospitals a week or two after getting my scan appt through and they gave me the same day. Long may my experiences remain so positive.....

My sick feelings are here in force, but luckily not actually been sick yet thankfully. I definitely need to stock up on packs of ginger nuts for the coming weeks.

I have zero patience just now. My poor DH and DC1! Back to work tomorrow - my poor colleagues!!

MustBeThursday · 09/01/2017 20:55

Watermelon That's rubbish, you go in hoping they'll put you at ease, hopefully the next appointment will be better. If it makes you feel better, I had an awful first "proper" appointment with my first pregnancy, but the rest of my appointments I saw different midwives who were much much better. My experience is that they almost always run late though - hoping this will be a little better here as we've moved area since having DD.

SickRose · 09/01/2017 21:03

hrfvenia I got some cheap low impact sports bras from peacocks. They've been a life saver. Obviously highly padded as I could hang coats from my nipples recently, but they're supportive enough of my DD's. The no underwire is heavenly. I'm tempted to get one to wear in bed too!

Lixon · 09/01/2017 21:08

Emeraude that's right, she said the booking appointment requires more blood because they do one off tests for hiv etc, so hopefully down to 1 or 2 vials next time!

watermelon sorry to hear about your experience, my lady was similar although thankfully running on time and not a locum. I didn't even bother raising NIPT with her because she was so useless.. emeraude is right that you should have a timetable in your pack if you got one. are you in the Facebook group? Sparkly uggs posted some links there and there have been done discussions that I found useful. I also had a leaflet in my notes about the reflex DNA test (see attached) which I'll automatically be referred for if I'm higher risk following the standard combined downs test - do you have anything like that in your pack?

I have big boobs but small back (30f pre-pregnancy) so got a pretty non wired (but not nursing) bra from bravissimo a few weeks ago, mothercare and H&M had some nice nursing ones but they didn't fit me annoyingly.

August 2017: the one in which we'll get midwife appointment
Watermelon2016 · 09/01/2017 21:25

Thank you for your kind words. I got a Bounty Pack thing but it only had a magazine and a pregnacare sample in it. I need to go back and pick my notes up in 2 weeks so maybe they'll be in there? I didn't get that leaflet. I'm not in the FB group bit will try and sort now.
Thank you you lovely bunch. X

firsttimer12345 · 09/01/2017 21:33

Lixon have you seen any other large cup/small back bras anywhere? I was 30H pre-pregnancy but mostly were 32G. Really struggling to find anything and the sports "bras" I've been wearing to bed have absolutely no support and even at my young age they have never been perky....

firsttimer12345 · 09/01/2017 21:46

*wear

Is it too early to blame baby brain or will exhaustion do?

Emeraude · 09/01/2017 21:58

Oh dear Watermelon. Yes, I expect there will be more information in your notes. If it helps, I have just had my booking and my next steps are the combined blood test at 11 weeks and then scan at 12 weeks. There isn't another midwife visit until 16 weeks.

Kirstyinnorway · 10/01/2017 07:16

I'm so jealous of you all booking in and getting scans! I book in at 10 weeks, but it is literally just a few questions and some info for me, then I have to wait until 18 weeks for my first scan!

They really don't do much support in early pregnancy here, and since I'm only 7+2 today, it feels forever until I'll actually get to see a doctor and even longer until I get to see this baby! I worry constantly that something is wrong but am trying to tell myself that worrying won't have any positive effect, so I should just chill!

Spent a good hour making Hairy Dieter's meatballs and pasta last night, then when it got to it, I couldn't stand the thought! Ended up eating plain pasta with grated cheese and ketchup Confused Hope bean gets some nutrients from that!

Sorry for everyone feeling crappy Flowers

Fieldsandgrasses · 10/01/2017 07:33

I made a nice dinner for husband but thought I'd be too tired to eat it (I'd do a veggie version) when he got in so had a jacket potato instead. Had serious food envy later!

Lixon · 10/01/2017 09:02

Oh wow Kirsty that sounds such a long wait in comparison to the UK and to think we complain - you must be shaking your fist at us all Smile are private scans there prevalent as a result or do people just have a different mentality? I hope you feel like some meatballs today!

first I'm afraid I haven't seen anything else although I decided to stop looking after buying mine until I got to 12 weeks and was ok buying maternity bras. This was £29 but I justified it as it's really pretty and comfortable so I will wear going forwards in a non pregnancy context! I'm living in this, a sweaty Betty yoga bra I've had for ages and tight/supportive vest tops when I really can't face a bra. Maybe m&s or an online shop? In my experience of normal bras the cheaper ones often don't come higher than a D so end up spending a fortune
www.bravissimo.com/m/#products/lingerie/non-wired-bras/sophie-non-wired-bra/black/pnm1bl/

watermelon if you pm me your email address I can try and add you to the Facebook group, I find it much easier to follow than this thread!

Lixon · 10/01/2017 09:17

I am waiting for my scan already running 25 minutes late and I need a wee so badly!!! Will almost certainly have an internal one as I have a retroverted uterus but don't want to empty it just in case.. husband not sympathetic just grumpy about being late for work!!!

Kirstyinnorway · 10/01/2017 09:46

Good luck for your scan lixon! Yes, it feels like a very long wait Sad

Private scans are quite common amongst the expat community (which I actually try and keep myself away from) but only at 12 weeks - they would think you were mad if you wanted any earlier unless you had serious medical concerns. I'll see how I feel at 10 weeks and perhaps book myself in - it's only about £120 which is reasonable for this very expensive country.

I'm just SO jealous of you all! Envy

SickRose · 10/01/2017 11:07

Hope your scan goes well Lixon! Is there such thing as a 'comfortably full bladder' when you're pregnant? I had to laugh when I read it.
