I agree, anyone doing this with children deserves a medal, I can barely look after myself. I'm now at 11w and the n&v is subsiding but I have a nasty cold and just generally feel rubbish. I'm guessing love for your existing children and a supportive partner are the key?

SociallyAcceptableCookie · 08/01/2017 17:59

sparkly it helps to have low standards of housekeeping, cooking, and children's entertainment. Grin

Polly Flowers

How is everyone mood wise? I've been feeling really low this weekend. This pregnancy seems so much harder than my first - I'm just so so tired, I feel rubbish and sick and dizzy all the time. I'm finding it really hard to manage with DD and I feel like I'm not giving her the attention I should be. I hope its just hormones flying around and it will pass soon.

Largemelons · 08/01/2017 21:10

I agree - low standards! But it keeps your mind off things having others around. I've told my DS and dd1 who will be 21 and 19 when this one arrives. How crazy is that? They're lovely and think I'm mad but are happy. The three youngest don't know anything but dd4 who is 5 is desperate for a brother. Having had 4 girls in a row I'm not sure she'll be getting one but you never know!!
My mood is shit. I'm either sobbing about how stupid and selfish I am to have another baby and it's going to ruin our lives (it's not Hmm) or walking about like ma Walton!
If Ma Walton had low standards and a swearing habit Wink

SociallyAcceptableCookie · 08/01/2017 21:16

My mood is terrible. I can't eat or drink anything, feel sick all the time, and I keep thinking about my Friday in EPU and crying. I'm so tired of trying to convince everyone I need help, and then having to actually fight for the kind of help that I need. I wish I could be distracted with something but there's nothing I'm interested in right now.

thesnuggleisreal · 08/01/2017 21:44

Hello! I'm new Smile

I'm 9+3, due 3rd August, our first baby.

We had an early scan at 8 weeks and it was amazing! Baby was just a little bean but measuring right and we saw the heartbeat, wow! We then felt able to tell our families at Christmas which was magical.

My hubs handed the form into the GP on the 29.12.16 and we've not heard anything yet. Everyday when I get home from work I'm excited that there might be a letter but nothing yet. I guess they might have Christmas backlog and we handed it in a bit late but hope we don't miss the 12 wk scan window Confused anyone else due early Aug not heard yet?

Symptoms wise so far had nausea every day for the last couple of weeks, rapidly gets worse when I get hungry so I'm snacking a lot! But not been sick so far (very thankful for this). Also for three+ weeks I've had really sore boobs and dizziness. And yesterday I cried twice before I even got out of bed!

One thing I've learnt ... Christmas isn't the same without brie (and other cheese board yummies!) Xmas Wink

MustBeThursday · 08/01/2017 22:36

snuggle I don't know how far along I am exactly, probably between 7 and 10 weeks now. I have a midwife appt on Tuesday and will hopefully hear about the scan after that - but at my GP they give you the info for the midwives and you refer yourself in.

Have you tried contacting the GP to see how long a referral normally takes? They may also be able to give you the number of the local midwifery team to contact directly. Try not to worry about missing a window for the scan - they will fit you in, even if it's a bit after 12 weeks. With my first, the "12 week" scan was at 13 weeks.

MrsG280516 · 08/01/2017 23:52

Just catching back up, hope everything works out okay Polly.

Anyone starting to get a proper bump yet? I'm 9+1 today and definitely starting to see and feel something, especially once I've eaten breakfast!

Sparklyuggs · 09/01/2017 06:59

socially I'm sorry to hear that Flowers are they finally taking you seriously? It's horrible that they won't give you the help you need.

Snuggle I might be confused on dates but I'm 4-7 days ahead of you (LMP 1 Aug but scans suggest 29 July) and I'm around 11 weeks. I would call the midwife or hospital to chase, I did last week.

SociallyAcceptableCookie · 09/01/2017 08:02

Thanks sparkly. In the end I guess I have a prescription but it just feels like everything has been so much harder than it needed to be.

Sparklyuggs · 09/01/2017 10:43

socially I know what you mean, I was on a low dose of cyclizine and it made no difference, went back to the GP and he basically made me feel like a right whinger and that I should just get on with it; just so unsympathetic and wouldn't believe that it was more than 'just a bit of nausea'. Luckily I'm feeling much better now but I felt very down about it. If I'd had another condition making me bed bound I doubt a doctor would just tell me to get on with it Angry

HaichM · 09/01/2017 11:50

Hello ladies,

Sorry I've been absent. HG is kicking my arse and I'm another one suffering with dizziness so concentrating on reading has been hard, so I've mainly been focusing on reading the HG thread when I can.

I'm sorry to hear about those who are suffering with nausea and/or other things.

I've been having the pains some of you have mentioned but they seem to be dying off now. And yes, lots of burping here. I also seem to retch a lot without being sick. I'm finding it a bit difficult to stay positive and distracted at the moment, which isn't helping. I'm also feeling guilty about how much DH is having to do and about not really spending time with DS.

Sparkly and cookie (and others), it does make it harder when people don't take it seriously and won't help. I'm finding it really frustrating that people keep trying to make light of my situation or brush off how difficult we're finding it. Like I'm lying or just whinging about how hard it is to drink and stay hyrdrated, or I should just get on with things and eat and drink and go on as normal as though I didn't have nausea or vomiting or dizziness etc. Anyone else experiencing similar reactions?

Someone was asking about how soon to tell work. I've had to tell mine both times almost as soon as I've known because I got HG or severe morning sickness and needed time off work. I'm off work atm and I'm so glad because I really don't know how I would cope if I was having to go in everyday.

I have my booking appt on Weds and hopefully they will book me in a scan soon as I am 10+1. I was meant to have one before Christmas but I got admitted instead. They were quick at ringing me back once I rang and left a message.

JustTrixie · 09/01/2017 11:58

Sorry, I joined and then went quiet. Had some cramping and got a bit anxious thinking I'd jinxed myself by joining which is silly! My waistband feels a bit tight so it must just have been stretching. Thank you for the welcome Smile

Had my booking in appointment through for the 17th and 12 week scan for 1st Feb. V impressed as was a bit late going into the system. All seems very real now. I've spent the last few years consumed by getting pregnant, I am completely clueless re pregnancy.

Thanks Luxon, just feeling so tired at the moment. I'm lucky that I have a very understanding boss and he should be fine with me taking time off if I need to.

Sorry to read your update Polly Flowers

firsttimer12345 · 09/01/2017 12:03

MrsG I have a new tummy going on but probably more likely from only being able to keep down chicken nuggets and pop tarts and not any real food...

MustBeThursday · 09/01/2017 12:18

MrsG I do have a bit of a tummy, but that's left over from the last one. I am finding tights feel like they're cutting in though. Although I'm starting to see my collarbones again so I might actually have lost a bit of weight in some places.

None of my bras fit Sad

ZigAZigAhh · 09/01/2017 12:53

I was quite shocked to notice a bit of a tummy this morning but am sure it's 99% food baby! Still feeling on/off gruesome, completely off coffee and chocolate, dizzy, lots of stretching aches and pains, exhausted...on the bright side my boobs aren't too sore thank god as DC1 is still a boobmonster

Sorry to hear some of you are being kept waiting with scan dates, it can be a bit stressful. With DC1 I had to follow up a few times but everything was fine in the end.

We moved areas after DC1 and I have so far been super impressed with my new GP/midwife experience - saw my GP for an initial "pregnancy" appointment last Weds, got a call on Thurs from the hospital giving me my booking appointment and 12 week scan dates, then on Fri I got letters in the post confirming the appointments and enclosing a whole heap of helpful brochures about what to eat, pregnancy yoga classes in the area, parenting classes etc. Best of all is that my antenatal appointments (including scans) are in my GP's building just down the road from my house, so I don't have to traipse into hospital each time.

Booking appointment is this Friday and then my 12 week scan is on Monday 6 Feb...

TMI26 · 09/01/2017 13:12

Snuggles I'm the same, 9 plus 4 but my due date is the 10th?? I think I finally cracked it so long as I keep eating I don't feel nauseous, as soon as I drop below full I feel sick and it kills my appetite, God I'll be like a hippo before I'm done!

SickRose · 09/01/2017 13:40

Midwife referred me for an early scan as my cycles mean we have no idea how far along I am. Got a phone call this morning from the Early Pregnancy Ward and they had an appointment for today at 2! Nearly there, and I'm so nervous. Fingers crossed all is ok.

ScottishLady7 · 09/01/2017 14:07

Good luck rose! How did you get on??

TMI26 · 09/01/2017 14:10

Rose best of luck:)

SickRose · 09/01/2017 14:22

I'm 8+3! We thought I was closer to 10 weeks so I'm a bit surprised. And annoyed I've got longer than I had thought with the side effects! You name it, I've got it at the moment. At least it feels that way. Got a little bit teary when she pointed out the heartbeat.

mistletoeprickles · 09/01/2017 14:52

zig I'm glad you said your boobs are less sore. I've been having a little panic cus mine aren't as sore (terrible when I get up though)

rose congratulations. I cried when I saw mines heartbeat too.

I'm one of those doing it with a child but I wouldn't be coping of it wasn't for DP. I had the day off yesterday and spent most of it in bed. DD will appear have a chat/cuddle/read and disappear again so we're still getting quality time. Hardest part is when I've worked till 5.30, I get in and get in the bath then DD comes and tells me about her day and does her reading whilst DP does dinner (aka chuck something in the oven). He works full time and has been amazing, he doing more round the house and just generally brilliant. He's always had a very active role with DD but I swear if I sat down all the time he wouldn't mind!

HaichM · 09/01/2017 15:06

Zig and mistletoe you are lucky. I don't think mine are. I'm thinking a new bra is needed.

Mist: i know what you mean. I don't know what we would do without dh. He is doing everything at the moment. Glad you're still getting that quality time with DD, I'm sure she appreciates it

Heatherbaby · 09/01/2017 15:41

Just catching up and it's so refreshing to read such similar experiences I.e. the sickness and nausea and it getting worse when you're hungry, people wondering why you can't just eat or drink, being bed bound (me right now).

I keep telling myself off for negative thoughts because I don't want to get baby blues (not something you can help I know). My mw told me if you feel depressed or down during pg you are more likely to get the baby blues. But I can't help but think that the timing is bad (I am to hand in my notice this week leaving a job of 5 years to a new job with no maternity pay).

Also..my friend told me when she found out she was pg she was so excited she started buying clothes and all sorts for the baby. I just can't bear to even think of baby shopping right now and feel awfully guilty.

I hope you ladies get your scan dates soon. Mine is on a Saturday (no extra time off work needed yipee) 28th Jan, nervous about it as I can be a worrier!

Hope everyone is feeling well xx

whoateallthejaffacakes · 09/01/2017 16:56

summoned up the energy to shave ridiculously hairy legs today sitting on the edge of the bath, used a new bic & foam but once dried it looks like i havent bothered & 2nd leg looks untouched. they must have been too hairy for bic to handle lol! wish i hadnt bothered as been sick 3 times today & also washed hair which has been neglected/attacked with dry shampoo for a week. face is very dry & scaly/flakey, unsure if it could be dry shampoo or preg related, first pregnancy with ds my skin was super oily & spotty and no HG. weird how different pregnancies can vary! also find myself watching food shows like jamie oliver even though i cant really keep much down. hope you's are all progressing well Smile
