Ah i've been having this same debate with myself Northernluce. My husband and I are moved to this area a few years ago but have struggled to meet new people and so I thought these classes might be a good way to meet other prospective mums locally. However, I feel quite wary of starting to plan anything which is annoying as I am inherently a planner and I want to get on and get things booked in.

Welcome and congrats Trixie and Cadihaf.

I had a scan at EPAU today due to some spotting and bleeding this last week and was relived and delighted (also a little emotional) that we saw a wee bean with a wee fluttering heartbeat measuring 6.9mm or 6+3 which is only a day less than I thought.

Still feeling anxious as I know it's early days but at least we got a bit of good news today.

Denna81 · 05/01/2017 12:29

Congrats and welcome to you too ALLthedinosaurs :)

ALLthedinosaurs · 05/01/2017 12:34

Congrats on your lovely scan Denna! I have one for 20th but I'll be almost 10 weeks then. Waiting, waiting!

MrsG280516 · 05/01/2017 15:44

I don't see why not thenorthernluce I really don't think anything is tempting fate, if something were to happen then it would happen anyway. I've just checked and they're advertising NCT courses for mid July-mid August and also September due dates already for my area. I've just enquired, I've heard from friends that they fill up fast.

ZigAZigAhh · 05/01/2017 16:41

hello due date buddy! Grin

Sparklyuggs · 05/01/2017 17:21

I'd contact the local NCT and ask if the deposit is refundable, my NCT yoga class will give me a full refund of my deposit if I give a weeks notice. If they're taking bookings for august births they'll know that it's still early days for everyone.

Kirstyinnorway ginger chocolate brownies sound yummy Smile hope the interview went well.

Had my harmony test done today and got to see the baby in the scan Smile I get the results within two weeks so roughly the time of my 12 week scan.

ALLthedinosaurs · 05/01/2017 17:22

If this one is anything as timely as it's brother, I should probably be on the september board Confused

ZigAZigAhh · 05/01/2017 17:32

Haha me too! I was induced at 41+6 with DC1 Hmm

MustBeThursday · 05/01/2017 17:55

TMI In my first pregnancy I used to get trapped wind pains, like being stabbed in the ribs and back - is the pain around there? One thing I found helped relieve trapped wind (an old wives tale remedy on my DMs advice, but inexplicably worked for me!) was to sip boiled water, as hot as I could manage (obviously not scalding hot!), seemed to bring quite a bit of wind up.

I've been getting pains at the very top of my thighs in the crease between leg and pelvis (if that makes sense?) anyone else having this?

First day back at work today after the holidays and I'm shattered after one day!

Watermelon2016 · 05/01/2017 18:00

So I'm saying hi after lurking forever; I feel like I know you all so well it's been that long. 9 weeks tomorrow with a LMP due date of the 11th August. Swore I wouldn't join MN so early again but I'm feeling very alone. I had a MMC earlier this year at 11weeks which showed the bean had given up at around 9/10 weeks so my anxiety and worry is at an all time high.

Have my booking in appointment on Monday with the MW; at least I know what to expect...

Discussed early private scans several times with my DP as we did a couple last time round but I just can't bring myself to doing it again :-( This will be our first.

Doom and gloom aside I'm waving at all of you and saying hi...this sure as hell isn't easy but you lot seem like a lovely bunch to share the journey with.

Fieldsandgrasses · 05/01/2017 18:15

Pleased you're here, Watermelon. Same thing here and I'm finding this pregnancy very hard in terms of anxiety. Surprisingly so, usually a more come-what-may approach to life. Today we are pregnant.

I'm also feeling guilty about my little one. Just not as good a mum as I usually am, less engaged and lively than usual, so blinking knackered and a very heavy week at work hasn't helped. Mind you, nursery return has tired them out too. Friday tomorrow and a few days off next week to catch up on things. Can't wait.

Fieldsandgrasses · 05/01/2017 18:18

Also, am usually pretty good at making a good meal for husband, this week he's had supermarket pizza, bought pasta sauce, made his own one night. He was rather ungrateful a brunch I made at the weekend didn't exactly match the recipe pic = a combination of tiredness and grumpiness re lack of culinary appreciation = a week of ready meals. Ha!

TMI26 · 05/01/2017 19:35

MustBe - I will have to try that one, it was so painful! (Wind is a self diagnosed after extensive google search)!

Welcome watermelon :) we are pretty much the same in terms of dates, have my booking in appointment on Saturday ... excited /scared

Stinkbaby · 05/01/2017 20:37

Hi, I have also been lurking in the shadows. My first pregnancy and due 13th. My boobs stopped feeling sore last week but I'm still feeling nauseated and can't stand the thought of eating anything! It sucks! I'm starving!

Dixiechick1991 · 05/01/2017 21:18

Argh I've been so worried the past few days as I've not felt sick. Tonight mid meal started feeling queasy & now I've had to climb into bed pretty much mid shower as I felt so sick! 7 weeks tomorrow & an early scan next Saturday (8+1)

ALLthedinosaurs · 05/01/2017 21:47

MustBe I've been rolling around with stabbing rib and back pain and only realised what it was when it became... less trapped Blush

Oh dear Zig! I went into labour naturally but he came at 42+1😱 I tried all the usual stuff sex worked this time I will be trying it much earlier!

ALLthedinosaurs · 05/01/2017 21:48

Hi stinkbaby and watermelon!

Largemelons · 05/01/2017 21:53

Hi all!
Had my booking in appt today which took well over an hour Shock. Good news is my dating scan is on the 20th so I can look forward to that!
Those with varying symptoms, I seem to have days when I'm not too bad but then I'm horrendous the next day to make up for it!
Add to this dramatic mood swings and zits! I'm a joy to be around currently Hmm

hrfvenia · 05/01/2017 22:18

largemelons we have the same scan dates ☺️☺️

I'm a stress bag grumpytits at the moment and I don't even care.

ClaraLane · 06/01/2017 08:24

Eeek, I think we're telling my SIL and BIL today! They're getting married in May and SIL wants to go shopping with me tomorrow for an outfit for the wedding which I can't really do just yet! I really hope they're happy about it but I've got a feeling she won't be Confused

I'm 10+3 and seeing the midwife on Monday - starting to get a bit panicked about when I'll get my scan because by then I'll be 10+6. I suppose the only good thing is that I actually work in the hospital where I have my scan so it'll just be DH who'll need to leave work to attend!

Sparklyuggs · 06/01/2017 08:33

clara I phoned the scan unit in a panic as I didn't have a date at 10+2 and they told me that they can do the scan up to 13+4 (I think) so they might not book it for 12 weeks exactly. I was so frustrated by this but they explained there's a bit of a backlog from Christmas and new year but I got a date of 12+2. I wouldn't worry about it too much, the MW knows it has to take place in a certain timescale.

ClaraLane · 06/01/2017 08:52

Thanks sparkly, I'll try not to worry in that case. I'll tell the midwife on Monday that I work at the hospital too, DH has the car at work so he could come over whenever although I'd prefer the afternoon so we can both go home afterwards.

Lixon · 06/01/2017 09:22

Welcome Trixie, I hope you're feeling better now but don't feel bad about taking the time off - after such a long journey taking care of yourself is the most important thing in the short term and avoiding overdoing it is much better than getting exhausted/more sick.

Welcome watermelon and stinkbaby too and really hope all goes smoothly this time for you watermelon, Ive also had 2 miscarriages waiting for my first and the anxiety from TTC has been ridiculous (impact on work etc) so I am avoiding any excitement until 12 weeks. I like fields "I am pregnant today" mantra!

Kirsty so sorry about your baking (I did smile..) and I hope all goes well with the job, definitely no need to mention ladybird at this stage..

Clara good luck getting a scan date and spreading the news - why wouldn't SIL be excited?! Impact on the wedding?

TMI26 · 06/01/2017 09:39

Good luck with your midwife appointment clara I have mine tomorrow, each day I get closer to the 12 weeks stage I get a little more excited...so ladies when would you advise telling work? What is a reasonable time? I'm in a bit of a sticky situation where I may /may not be made redundant in 1 year and most definitely will not have a role to return to if I decide to take more than 9 months off (I may be employed but pidgeoned into a rubbish role most likely) I am beginning to raise some concerns as things have not been very clear but don't want to drop the baby bombshell until after I have had my scan and know what my choices are....when have you told your employers in the past / or are planning on telling?

ClaraLane · 06/01/2017 09:51

Lixon It's tricky because SIL wanted to be married and TTC before we got married but BIL put his foot down and wanted to wait until after our wedding which is what they've ended up doing. I also feel for her in a way because I don't want it to overshadow her wedding and I'm worried it may (first grandbaby) so I'm going to try not to let people make a huge deal about it. Whether she'd offer me the same courtesy if things were the other way round I don't know!

TIM26 I can't help I'm afraid as I told work very early on but I'm in a permanent position so quite safe. Do you have a union you can get advice from?
