I think milk banks are generally for tiny premature babies who really benefit from the donated milk.

CinnamonTwist · 10/12/2016 21:28

Lucie I bought some maternity stuff from Debenhams that are all really good. In the end I went for dresses and leggings as I'm fed up of waistbands! They did have a sale in which made it very good value, not sure if it's over now.

CinnamonTwist · 10/12/2016 21:32

Oh and on gender scans - our 20 week scan is on Wednesday and it has been SO hard to wait to find out, I still want to book a private gender scan for any given day of the week. Although I don't want to spend the money unless we have to, if we can't find out at the NHS scan then I will definitely be booking a private scan! Everyone so far has been saying they think ours is a boy...!

1004Rise · 10/12/2016 22:01

Mighty you sound similar size to me... in Seraphine sizing I bought size 8 and 10 over the bump jeans ... never even tried the 10 on the 8 was perfect. Ordered the bump kit in an 8 too and all really good fit. I think because they're a bit more expensive they are true sizes so easier to judge. I've been wearing loose fit shirts from Matalan that I had already with leggings/jeans and then like savage said long cardigans that aren't meant to close is bigger sizes.

lucieloos · 10/12/2016 22:08

Thank for all the maternity suggestions! I ordered a pile of things from next this evening in a variety of sizes. It's all going to be delivered tomorrow so hopefully there will be some nice things there! I'm liking some of the seraphine clothes too but will wait and see what this batch is like first before ordering anymore.

savagehk · 10/12/2016 23:00

Wrote a long reply then internet keeled over!

Milk banks are for premature or sick babies, yes.

There's also milk sharing which is an informal arrangement, see human milk for human babies on Facebook.

Badgerbird · 10/12/2016 23:28

Aaah thanks guys. Yes thought it might be for poorly babies or not be for sale for people that couldn't breastfeed as it were but have heard of places you can get breast milk. Will look nearer the time, thanks :) I realise this may not be everyone's cup of tea/milk though.

lullaby23 · 11/12/2016 01:38

I was going to suggest human milk for human babies too, I think some mums with oversupply donate. I definitely found breastfeeding convenient after the first few weeks, easier to roll over and pop a boob out than get up and make a bottle imo, but YMMV. I expressed from about 5/6 weeks and DH would give DS a bottle every so often and it meant I could e.g. get hair cut so be away for a few hours.

mummyplus I love the look of the iCandy Orange but not sure I'll be able to get it in time as we're overseas and not sure of the release date. What's your view on the baby jogger city select? I'm between that and he Peach I think, DS will be 2 when this one is born so want a double option. Need a decentl accessible shopping basket for walking to the supermarket and preferably able to fit in the boot of a taxi!

Brightsmoke · 11/12/2016 08:46

Adding myself in :)

There's quite a lot of us due on the 3rd now!! Hope everyone is starting to feel better now. I have my 20 week scan a week tomorrow, then I can finally start telling everyone!!

For those on about the bugaboo buffalo, we bought ours and I love it! Came with a chance bag so will be using that. It is big and bulky but (so far without having used it) I think it's worth every penny :) I think buggy shops should have an endurance course in, curbs, steps, stone area, grass area so people can thoroughly test them out!!

1004Rise · 11/12/2016 08:47

Is anyone else suffering from pins and needles in bed? This is waking me up more than needing to visit the loo at night. Doesn't seem to matter what side I like on I wake up with a numb arm Sad

Brightsmoke · 11/12/2016 08:48

Sorry Tea, I didn't realise I had pushed in front of yourself in the due dates :(

Barnes79 · 11/12/2016 09:08

Rise - I'm getting pins and needles in my right hip when I lie on my left (and my left side is the one that gives me least back pain) but it's not waking me up. If you're getting a completely numb arm I'd mention it to your midwife, but then again even if it's just pins and needles mention it. They may suggest extra support when sleeping or a different pillow or specialist physio. I'm going to mention my back pains and pins and needles on Wed at my 16w appt. I hope it eases off a bit for you.

Sonnet18 · 11/12/2016 09:34

rise It's pregnancy induced carpal tunnel syndrome, it'll get a lot worse and will remain with you until after the birth. It started at around 30 weeks for me last year and got progressively worse (sorry to tell you!!) the midwife will send you to physiotherapy for some splints and some exercises. A total pain but harmless and usually goes away on its own!

Sonnet18 · 11/12/2016 09:35

Ps splints at night totally helped!

1004Rise · 11/12/2016 09:45

Sonnet awesome! One more fun thing about pregnancy Hmm And I'm guessing sitting at a computer all day won't help. Thanks for the tip, I'll give the midwife a call on Monday since I won't see her now til the end of Jan!

teainbed · 11/12/2016 09:49

No worries! Grin

You can get carpal tunnel splints on Amazon if you want to try them asap. A lot of trusts don't fund them anymore.

coxsorangepippin · 11/12/2016 10:14

Just posting in case this is useful to anyone!
Have been searching for black tights for work, m&s have terrible reviews so got two types from Amazon

These ones don't look fancy in the packet but are lovely smooth materiaUnfortunately they won't do for me as even at 17 weeks my bump is spread out and doesn't end til my breastbone. If you are carrying lower they should be perfect. (If you pm me your address I'll post you the ones I got as I can't use them)
www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00OHRWWCG/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1481450506&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=maternity+tights&dpPl=1&dpID=31tQNLneAQL&ref=plSrch

These ones have a fancier packet but are slightly less nice quality, though still ok. They are comfortable with my bump shape. They do slither down a bit but they don't wrinkle at all at the ankle.

Hi everyone... Just wondering if we have a Facebook group and how to join?

lucieloos · 11/12/2016 10:46

I'm loving the sound of the new icandy Orange! We did want to get a peach but I don't know if it's worth waiting until March now to check out the orange?! Anybody else looking to get either of these?

1004Rise · 11/12/2016 19:20

I just didn't like the icandys at all... can't explain why. Still think we'll get the Bugaboo Chameleon, I was put off by the weight of the Buffalo and think we'll probably use a sling or a carrier when we walk the dogs "off-road " Smile

lucieloos · 11/12/2016 19:26

I loved the icandy as soon as I set eyes on it but we still need to have a good look at them all and have a go at putting them up and down etc which we will hopefully do at our John Lewis appt.

1004Rise · 11/12/2016 20:21

Lucie that's funny the woman in the shop did say to us you're either a Bugaboo person ore an icandy person Wink We did spend a good couple of hours pushing buttons and taking bits off an putting them back on again. Someone suggested earlier that shops should have a pram track with kerbs and cobbles and hills, I think that's a genius idea would definitely help!

MrsJW15 · 11/12/2016 20:22

We've been away for the weekend and there's a lot to catch up on! Cox, I'll definitely have a look at those tights, those are a struggle at the moment. I'd gone back to normal tights after a terrible day when my maternity ones fell down all day. I'd come out of the bloating stage, but bump was pretty non-existent so they were fine. Bump is starting to come out so I'm going to have to rethink soon I think.

lucie will be good to hear how you get on. I have the Seraphine leggings in small, but they are definitely too long for me. I'm only 5"1 though. I'm still ok in normal tops and loose dresses, but my work wardrobe is getting v limited!

Love reading all your buggy thoughts - we haven't had a proper look yet, but it's on the to do list!

MrsJW15 · 11/12/2016 20:23

Reposting the list as I was down as having number two, but it's number 1!

Trying do do my Christmas food shopping list, has anyone thought of interesting nonalcoholic drinks for Christmas Day, not going to abstain completely (and it's my birthday on Boxing Day) but obviously not doing my usual Buck's Fizz for breakfast, wine with lunch, g&t in the afternoon/evening. I think there's only so much shloer I can drink Grin
