MrsJW I've not had my 25 week appointment but when it was booked for me I was told I needed to ask for the form at the appointment and if I don't ask for it I won't get it.

Adventuregame · 04/01/2017 10:57

My 25 week appointment is with a midwife but at my GP surgery.

Cinnamon - I'm exactly the same re work, and to make it worse I seem to have lost half of my vocabulary (or mixing up words). Twice yesterday the colleague I was talking to looked at me slightly perplexed and I realised I had used completely the wrong word in my sentence! I work as an editor FFS!

RasperryInAMelon · 04/01/2017 11:05

I have my 24 week appt at 24+5 and have had all of my appointments with a midwife.

20 week scan tomorrow, getting those horrid anxious feelings again 😩

I slept better last night, but like you Cinnamon I'm still wiped. Sitting at my desk after 2 hours of work and could really do with a little 8 hour nap 😳

MrsJW15 · 04/01/2017 11:09

Thanks all - very confusing. I'll see if I can find the phone number for the midwives online, otherwise I'll have to call tomorrow. It's slightly confusing as I am seeing the midwives at the hospital I want to give birth in, not at my GP, as I'm out of area.

EsmesBees · 04/01/2017 11:10

MrsJW mine is with the midwife and is at 24 weeks. You might have to see the GP as in some places they are the ones who do the whooping cough injection.

I am so tired cinnamon. By the time dd goes to bed at 7 I'm completely done in. Hoping it won't be like this the whole way through.

Adventuregame · 04/01/2017 11:19

MrsJW I'm out of area too but for some reason the 25 week check and whooping cough vaccine is the only one where I have to go to GP.

So sorry if this has already been discussed ladies (can't find it) but I need help!! Heartburn is getting beyond a joke; it's constant and so annoying. Eating Rennies like sweets but not working at all, what else can I try? I'd rather not have anything on prescription.....

IAmSeriousAndDontCallMeShirley · 04/01/2017 13:06

20 week scan complete- all looked well. Grin

We have another scan with a consultant next week to look for skull abnormalities due to my daughter having a genetic syndrome affecting her skull. We declined amino, so scan are the next best thing to check. But all looked good today. Very happy indeed.

My 25 week appt is with the midwife.

EsmesBees · 04/01/2017 13:36

Great news i am serious. Just had our scan too and all looking good. Girl number two for us. Makes it all seem real. The sonographer was really great. Told us exactly what she was looking at and got some lovely pictures.

IAmSeriousAndDontCallMeShirley · 04/01/2017 13:54

Congratulations Bees, lovely news! Another girl- handy for clothes and things :)

We resisted the urge to find out the sex, but I was really tempted! DH was having none of it though.

Seems hope all went well today!

Hi MrsCroco - we've not started buying yet either, unless you count the super soft kitten, golden retriever and fox toys we couldn't resist in Ikea last week ;).

For anyone in East London/ close to Stratford the Mamas&Papas store have 3 open events coming up where they do talks on stuff and give discounts. As a first timer I figure it's worth going along to see what it's like. They're on 5/2, 9/2 and 12/2.

MissMoo am also in love with the Egg pram!! If you don't mind "gothic purple" you can get a package of bassinet, stroller & seat, footed EE, fleece liner, change bag for £599. Cheapest we saw instore at Mothercare was far more for just the pram!

MrsJW I was told the 25w should be with GP by both mw and consultant. Assumed it was part of transitioning care and getting pregnancy formally onto GP records (all my care & contact to date has been via hospital team). Am also doing birth/ hospital stuff out of area and jabs (flu &!whooping cough) need to be at GP - heading there now to try and book.

Cinnamon he'll yeah. Totally knackered/fatigued most of the time. And Gurtie I can empathise - so acid-y!! Lovely combination! Add to that drinking about 5l water each day to counteract latter, so constant need to pee, and I'm a dream shopping partner (as OH has recently discovered ;)

Good luck tomoz Rasperry!

& great news IAmSerious & Esme!!

RasperryInAMelon · 04/01/2017 15:03

Adventure and everyone else... literally too bored at work today.

Have just seen a Googledocs spreadsheet on another page which I am totally nicking the idea of for the next thread! Smile

Tickyboovicki · 04/01/2017 15:42

First day back at work for me too, and finally put my foot down & reduced my responsibilities! Hopefully this will help!

Rustler74 · 04/01/2017 15:46

Good luck Raspberry for tomorrow x
I'm lucky with my midwives as they actually have clinics in my GP practice 3 days of the week. Looking ahead at my MATB1 form, I believe I should get it at my 24 week check.
After tomorrow scan I'll have another 3, at 28-32 and 36 weeks. That's because I'm old! I guess that's not the only reason... but I think it would be nice as most get no scan between 20 weeks and birth?
See you all in the new thread Smile

beachsands · 04/01/2017 17:32

Congrats on the scans. Mines not til next week and the desire to know gender is crazy!! Does anyone have any experience with the heartbeat/gender old wives theory? It was correct with my first 2. I always try to guess when watching One Born and am right though I know it's not a science and not proven. I'll know next week if it's true for me this time around!

Sipperskipper · 04/01/2017 17:54

Good luck with scans tomorrow!

Forgot to update my due date, put back slightly to 8th May. Sex is girl.

jennymac31 · 04/01/2017 18:23

Had 20 week scan this afternoon and everything is fine. Definitely having a boy!

growcookeat · 04/01/2017 19:48

So good to see more lovely scans!

Gurtie I totally get the heartburn problem. I found walking around a bout 10 mins after eating helped to ease it. Also a friend recommended Zantac which is stronger than Rennie but I haven't tried it yet. I'll let you know if it's any good.

I have my next mw appt next week which puts me at 23 weeks. Not sure if we just booked it early - haven't got my notes in reach to check.

savagehk · 04/01/2017 20:09

Talc is carcinogenic - there are alternatives based on corn starch if you need it

Badgerbird · 04/01/2017 20:36

1004, newshoes and cinnamon I keep telling my DH that at the moment I've got 2 brains so this is basically as good as it's ever gonna get! Scary thought as I'm having some proper Babyotamy moments!

beach I had a galloping horse and having a girl :)

littleem89 · 04/01/2017 21:06

Gurtie I'm also suffering with heartburn and Rennies aren't helping at all! I haven't tried Zantac so will give that a go, hopefully they will work.

CinnamonTwist · 04/01/2017 21:23

I'm glad it's it just me... and Yes! definitely the same with memory and lack of words... I work in a scientific field and am finding myself feeling like a complete idiot half the time at the moment... I am literally counting down the days to mat leave so I don't have to 'think' all day any more!
