Congrats to all those with scans today!

Rustler I'll pop you back on my list tomorrow for sure!

So excited to have our nursery done, but my god stripping wallpaper is a ballache! 🙈

Question for those with anterior placenta - has anyone had any aches or pains with it? I've had a really dull pain on the right hand side between the height of my belly button and the top of my thigh. It's worse when I bend over.

Sipperskipper · 03/01/2017 20:54

raspberry mine is anterior. I quite often get stitch type pains, particularly if on a long walk!

MrsJW15 · 03/01/2017 21:01

Congratulations on all the scans today!

Raspberry and Skipper I am getting those pains too - like a stitch when walking. My notes said anterior placenta. I was a bit worried about them actually but good to know others are getting them too.

teainbed · 03/01/2017 21:02

Wow loads of scans today! Congratulations glad everything is fine. Has everyone had an anomaly scan yet?

MrsJW15 · 03/01/2017 21:02

Also, my pillow has just arrived - I have this one www.amazon.co.uk/Chicco-Total-Body-Pillow-Silverleaf/dp/B00H3AINJ0/ref=pd_cp_75_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=F1R6NDFVEREZR6JE9Z2Q - will report back on how it goes!

Barnes79 · 03/01/2017 21:17

Tea - no Sad mines on Monday. I'm getting so jealous of everyone having theirs already. I just can't wait to find out if it's a boy or girl!!

EsmesBees · 03/01/2017 21:23

No mine is tomorrow tea. Feel a bit nervous.

Back to work and the nursery run juggle today. Feel utterly exhausted.

mightymouse76 · 03/01/2017 21:37

Lovely too see all the good scan results this week! Struggling to keep up with the thread!

tea my official NHS scan is on Friday when I'll be 20+5, but I did have a private one on the 22nd Dec... still nervous as hell though even though that was positive.

peach my placenta is low too, totally covering the cervix currently. Also have the extra scans to check. Fingers cross they move!

Does everyone have really low bumps at this stage or is that a feature of the low placenta position?

mrscrocopop · 03/01/2017 21:39

Hi all, I have been reading for a while and thought I should say 'hi'. I'm due with my first, a girl, on 12th May.
I'm intrigued by those of you who are organised enough to be stockpiling nappies etc already! We have barely anything! I think I need to pull my finger out...!

mightymouse76 · 03/01/2017 21:43

Raspberry I just wanted to quickly say I was really interested in your previous post about routine and going back to work early.
We're in a similar situation where I might need to return sooner than I would ideally like, health of all permitting...
As we get nearer the time, I would be incredibly grateful of any more tips you can pass on, if you don't mind me messaging you on here?

RasperryInAMelon · 03/01/2017 21:56

Mighty I'll ping you a message now Smile

Badgerbird · 03/01/2017 22:03

Congrats to all the beautiful scans!!

Thanks teaspoon :) all went really well and we have a very wriggly healthy baby girl in there. Shame I can't feel her yet! She's doing her yoga in this photo with leg over head Shock

Sorry tea's! Got you mixed up!

barnes please try to go a bit easy on yourself Hun. It's such a crazy time of transition and hormones! I'm sorry you're feeling fat and frumpy, that's rubbish but try not to compare yourself to others, we are all too different. Please don't overdo it on the running and salads, remember you need that energy to grow your gorgeous bubba. This phase will pass and you will get a proper preggo bump and then a baby Smile

mcbaby ouch!!! How are you doing now?

rustler how wonderful to feel those flutters :) miracle indeed. Hope you feel better soon, sounds horrid. So does work! Sad

raspberry no particular aches here just twinges/slight cramps every now and again. Are you using a steamer to strip wallpaper? Makes it pretty easy and a good work out for the arms!

WishIWasSleeping · 03/01/2017 22:11

Bit late to the conversation today - we tried a few nappies out in the beginning with #1, found that Asda own nappies smelt funny and strongly every time baby weed in them. And it wasn't her wee that did it! We gave up with them. I'll be another to praise Aldi, they are fab, they changed their wipes supplier and ingredients without notice or packet alterations a few months back tho, so just be wary. Our little one has a lovely pair of chunky thighs, so we found once we got to a size 4 Aldi's didn't really have enough leg room, so we go for the boots active fit, usually about 3 smallish packs for £7... they are a really good fit around the legs. We're currently looking for a new night time nappy, as she's sleeping longer (although not the last week!) and she's a front sleeper, so she frequently wakes up wet to above her tummy. :-( I posted on the nappy posts but no ones had any advice as of yet. Considering buying a pack of pampers this weekend.
I found it much easier to use cotton wool pleats and water for the first few weeks at least, especially for night time changes, baby was much calmer with warm water and residue (creams or other) came off much easier. I still wet wash her in the mornings, as we bath her at nights. (And because she leaks!)
The best nappy cream we found was the white Johnson's newborn one. Sudocreme just didn't do it for us and we found 'washed' off very easily, although we only ever got a rash when on medication and when we started solids.
Stockpiling talc should have been on my list! Especially the little bottles that go in the changing bag as they often cost as much as the big tubs Shock - and we sprinkle with talc every change - usually putting it in the nappy before fitting to baby.
Someone also mentioned a sofa in babies room - were lucky enough to have the room for this and I still regularly fall asleep giving #1 her bottle in the evenings! A comfy seat is a must as it's actually quite difficult to adjust yourself on a bed with pillows and a baby and a bottle / boob as something always ends up slipping the wrong way! Grin

Rustler74 · 03/01/2017 23:17

Oh brightsmoke that would be really useful! i could send you a private message?
You have confirmed what I already suspected xxx
Thank you so much x

stationaryace · 03/01/2017 23:26

Wish have you tried putting the nappy on backwards? I'm sure I've seen that advised before for tummy sleepers.

Nappy cream wise I found coconut oil (start of redness rash), white metanium (if rash gets worse) and yellow metanium (anticeptic bad-ass cream for the rare time it looked nasty) to be the best but I only use it on the odd occasion that she's had a rash, and those were either teething, illness or food-related. They'll probably go out of date before I use them all up.

Brightsmoke · 04/01/2017 05:25

Rustler, this is the one he ordered and installed, if I were you, I would either tell your landlady you have found it for £30 (cheaper than I thought 😂) and can she find someone who can install it, or ask for permission to have one installed, and find someone local (if your near I'm sure I could persuade DH to come help for the price of a cup of tea 😉)

savagehk · 04/01/2017 06:14

Nappy wise we found reusables fantastic and will be using again this time, reusable wipes as well. We used mainly little lambs fitted two parters, which means one size from birth to about 6 months, then the next size up until no longer needed.

WishIWasSleeping · 04/01/2017 06:15

Stationary - I haven't, although I ready that somewhere too... by the time it's bedtime I've usually forgotten anything I've read during the day! Grin I've managed to remember to try a bigger size last night, so will try to remember backwards too tonight!
Although I think it'll be amusing when I come to take it off and forget its backwards as she's trying to escape me!
And for whoever asked about the changing mat, once you're healed I would also recommend the floor for changing, more space to keep everything out of babies reach, and when they start twisting and turning and crawling away you're able to give up and laugh!

savagehk · 04/01/2017 06:17

(might add we never needed nappy rash creams - our au pair was pleasantly surprised as all other kids she'd looked after needed them - i honestly think the reusable nappies helped with that. We used moltex nappies on the rare occasion we used disposables)

lullaby23 · 04/01/2017 09:15

My scan is next week too so still a few of us to go. Glad everyone's scans went welll yesterday.

I've never used talc on DS, does anyone know (medical types?) if it's not recommended any more?

MissMooMoo · 04/01/2017 09:36

Today is my first day back at work for 2 weeks.
The family I work for are finally using their new kitchen/utility room, its amazing! I'd love a new kitchen.

My placenta is also low, I am being re scanned at 33 weeks, they are expecting it to have moved by then

I walked around blue water yesterday with my mom and DH's aunt, hard work! I am exhausted. My mom bought us the next to me cot. On sunday we are going to John lewis for their nursery service. I really thought I wanted to get the bugaboo bee but I LOVE the Egg pram now. Anyone else considering the egg or have one? I will have to go look at it again seperately with DH as they don't sell it at john lewis annoingly.

Adventuregame · 04/01/2017 10:11

Lullaby I'm not medical but I've heard talc shouldn't be used anymore too ?

Can anyone help me with a slight mystery around the 25 week appointment? When I went to my 16 week, they said that for that one I saw the GP and got the Mat B1 form etc. But I called the GP just now, who said that I should be having that with the midwives! My notes are all at home, so I'll have to dig them out tonight and call the midwives to check. Has anyone had this appointment and where did you have it?

CinnamonTwist · 04/01/2017 10:30

MrsJW mine is booked in with my MW, she booked it at my last appointment. However everywhere seems to be so different that it may not be the same everywhere else... mine is down in my notes as a 24wk appointment, but will actually be at 25wks.

Anyone else struggling with tiredness? I can't seem to concentrate at work at all at the moment... not massively helpful in my role. Memory is also shocking currently, it's a pretty crap combination!

1004Rise · 04/01/2017 10:45

Cinnamon not tiredness so much now but just generally a feeling of stupidity Blush Back to work for me tomorrow, love my job but dreading it. I seem to have lost my ability to retain information or do more than one thing at a time... And I have no idea what my login password is Hmm

MrsJW My 24 week appointment is with the midwife, booked it at my 16 week appointment. But since everything else seems to be different in different places could mean anything.... I'd phone your midwife to check.
