Been to endocrinologist today and bloods all good, although may need to up thyroxine in 8 weeks. (Born without thyroid gland myself so I consider myself a medical marvel Grin even now trying some emoticons. Mum was visiting so she came along and heard baby heartbeat on Doppler! She's back off to Belgium now! Proper 20 week scan on Thursday with my dearest partner and caring daddy to be!

Was supposed to go face to work today as well but had come down with streaming cold on Saturday and now back into full blown infection with fever. Awaiting phone call from GP and hoping to be seen today. Also brought occu health appointment forward as dreading going back to the team lead bully! Will need to grab the bull by the horns at some point though?
On the upside, turning over every little tiny bit of negative, my baby is making itself known very well! Many flutters, kicks and bubbles going on! I mean wow what a miracle!

MrsJW15 · 03/01/2017 12:36

Ouch McBaby. Hope you are doing ok. If you are at all worried, I'd call the midwives and ask them.

lullaby23 · 03/01/2017 12:42

Oh dear poor you mcbaby I'm sure your little one is well insulated from your tumble, take care though. Hope you feel better too rustler and anyone else suffering.

I don't think my DS would have got into a routine like the Gina type one without a lot of crying, but fair play for the babies it does work for. Will be interesting to see how this one turns out!

I recommend getting a chair or sofa for the baby's room if you have space. Nice to have somewhere comfy to sit for night feeds once they're in there. Also we used it a lot when doing gradual retreat with DS when older and he needed one of us in there while he went to sleep for a while.

Agree don't commit to too many packs of nappies or wipes. DS used Huggies to begin with (don't sell in UK anymore) but settled on Pampers which didn't leak. Also found certain wipes smelled a bit strong and off putting.

We are back home now and horribly jet lagged. Had breakfast around lunchtime Blush and DS didn't eat his then suddenly did a projectile vomit everywhere! Luckily he then ate his cereal and has been fine since so hoping it's a one off.

I've had gentle movement for a few weeks then a couple of proper kicks the other day now it's gone quiet again! One week til scan.

Rustler74 · 03/01/2017 12:47

McBaby! OMG what a scare! It's probably trying to still direct everything that you hurt yourself so badly! Hope you recover soon. Get a nice hot tea or chocolate and feet up if you can xxx glad baby is moving and that must be such a relief!
Much love xxx

peasandquiet · 03/01/2017 13:38

McBaby, ouch I hope your ok, if you feel at all out of sorts call the GP to check you and baby over.
Rustler I must have missed that your having a crap time with work, hope you feel better soon and can get that all worked out.

Another thing about stockpiling wipes is they can go mouldy. I'm a big waterwipes fan, they are much wetter and have no chemicals in, would highly recommend then for baby and as a face wipe for yourself Grin one thing you can start making a stash of if your that way inclined is things like nappy rash creams (metanium is a magic cream for many babies), calpol etc (just one of each) so that when you need it at 2am one day it's in the cupboard rather than 'something you meant to buy'. there will be more stuff I just need to think of it!
Nappies wise I've tried them all but always come back to pampers. Always buy on offer (using the bumdeal website to get best offer) if your wanting to stockpile any sizes I would do 3/4/5's as they are in them for a much longer time than 1&2's but as others have pointed out if the brand doesn't suit your baby you end up stuck with them.

Autumnsweater · 03/01/2017 14:17

mcbaby hope you're feeling ok! If it helps, I slipped on the ice last week, but everything is fine with baby, I checked myself with Doppler (I have cuts on my hand and knee Hmm).

Autumnsweater · 03/01/2017 14:45

adventure kiddy evo Luna looks great for long journeys! And excellent safety scores. I highly recommend the Which subscription, only £1 for the first month and as well as all the reviews they have good articles explaining all the jargon (eg i-size and group numbers etc ). Loads of baby stuff on there. They do their own crash tests on the car seats.

teainbed · 03/01/2017 14:59

That's funny peas Waitrose just substituted me their own brand for Water Wipes today. They look interesting! Don't go through as many just now with bigger DC although we've always got a pack on the go in the car or when we're out.

RasperryInAMelon · 03/01/2017 15:02

Just thought I'd post a quick updated list in prep for the new thread. I have it saved on my desktop, so if anyone needs any amendments made or wants gender(s) added - let me know!

My due date was brought forward to the 14th. Thanks

Mouldy wipes! Yikes, I do stockpile refills from Amazon now but haven't had a problem yet. I recommend Sudocrem for nappy rash but DS didn't ever get it until on solids.

Good idea on the Calpol also Snufflebabes/Baby Olbas Oil to put in hot water if they get a cold. I think having a baby thermometer is a good idea for monitoring fever after jabs etc. though must admit ours has not been used yet (though we do have a room/bath one). Nail scissors or clippers as their nails grow like mad from the all milk diet, I had to do it twice a week to begin with. Some people swear by a snot sucker for colds but I've never been brave enough to try!

Mine is a girl raspberry but happy to wait until the new thread to update if you're offering to keep track, thanks!

Tickyboovicki · 03/01/2017 15:14

I'm having a baby boy Grin

Adventuregame · 03/01/2017 15:14

I'll try and think of the title for next thread too ! We know it'll start May 2017 #6........
'Half way there and trips to Mothercare' ?

Tickyboovicki · 03/01/2017 15:14

Also happy to wait for new thread, thanks!

CinnamonTwist · 03/01/2017 15:21

Adventure how about something to do with the fact that now we're over half way we're counting down the weeks instead of counting up...? Can't think of how to rhyme it right now though!

RasperryInAMelon · 03/01/2017 15:29

I wont post a full list again until the new thread, just keep track at my end... Not enough to do at work today clearly... Hmm

I'll leave the funny anecdote to you Adventure

Brightsmoke · 03/01/2017 15:49

Mcbaby, definitely get yourself checked out if you feel in anyway out of sorts! Not worth the risk.

I got a discount for boots nappies which expires end of the month, so have bought 3 x bumper back nappies for £6, wanted one size 2 pack, but they only had 1, 4 and 5, so went for 3 packs of size one. Wont be too gutted if they don't fit baby properly as so cheap!

I like that one Adventure, we must talk a lot compared to other groups, we always seem to be at the top of the page whenever I look!

PeachIcedT · 03/01/2017 16:41

Hello all! Travelling back from my scan now. I was there for 4.5 hours! Baby liked the position it was in so much it wouldn't move, despite me going on 4 separate walks, eating, drinking coffee, everything! Because I was in and out so much I now have the ultrasound gel all over my clothes. But eventually they got the measurements they needed and all is fine. To be honest I'm amazed they persisted so long. I was meant to be back at work at 2 but no chance of me making it at all now.

So I was convinced that we were having a boy, but was I wrong and a half. This is a little girl! I cannot believe it, I'm delighted though. Good job I only bought a few boys tops... Grin

crazyzooo · 03/01/2017 16:50

20+5 today and all good on scan (phew). Was petrified even though I had a private anomaly scan before Christmas... It's all getting very real now...!!Confused Grin

Adventuregame · 03/01/2017 17:17

Feeling lots of movement now - the first of which happened on Xmas Day !

OP posts:
lucieloos · 03/01/2017 17:29

20+2 and scan went really well. Everything looking as it should! Such a relief! It kept opening its mouth to put its hands in and she got a brilliant pic...

May 2017 #5 - 20 week scans and pram buying plans
Rustler74 · 03/01/2017 19:03

Hi raspberry I think I jumped out of the queue hehe! I'm due 24 May, so I'm halfway kind of.
Grand to see all the scans popping up!

Still not 100% about finding out gender...

Just a question: we asked our landlady for a thermostat in our flat as it gets terribly cold these days during the night and when the heating is on using the timer in the boiler, it just keeps going the whole time, because the corridor is so cold, or just because the thermostatic valves on the radiators don't give feedback. She came back saying that it would not make a difference on our usage of gas at all and that a wireless thermostat would cost many hundreds of pounds and she doesn't want to spend that.
I just want to come back to them with a great argument because we really need a more efficient way to heat our flat but my baby brain won't come up with one. Do any of you ladies have a plumber or heating technician husband?

PeachIcedT · 03/01/2017 19:08

Lucie that's a great happy picture! Congrats on your scans to you and crazyzoo.

I have been told I have a low placenta so need a scan at 32 weeks and 36 weeks. Didn't really know anything about this before, but appears to increase chance of need for c section unless it shifts?

Brightsmoke · 03/01/2017 19:44

Rustler My husband is a heating engineer. He installed a wireless thermostat that also has a timer on it for £35 in our house. If you want, I can link it to you to send to your landlady to show how cheap it is, or buy it yourself and get a fitter if she won't agree to the cost?

EsmesBees · 03/01/2017 20:02

Congrats on all the scans today. Lovely pictures.

That's right peach. If it doesn't move they will book you in for a c-section. But don't worry. In most cases they move. Plus you get another look at the baby right at the end which is lovely.
