Teaspoon will DM you on a desktop PC tomorrow for sure ☺ you'll need to log into Mumsnet on a PC to read, but no problem, happy to share!

Don't get me wrong - that's not to say that if DD wakes in the night you leave her. There are recommendations to make changes if she wakes and you can't get her back off.

INeedNewShoes · 02/01/2017 20:58

Raspberry - I would be interested in reading more about this too if you wouldn't mind sending me a message with more info as well?

Acorncat · 02/01/2017 21:02

I was totally baby-led with my first, and that routine is pretty far from what naturally happened. Far more feeds, naps, night wakenings. Not saying that routines can't be a good thing, but I found it was best to have low expectations! That was with taking a years maternity leave though, different if you're going back to work much sooner. Maybe if the dads staying home then he can roomshare with the baby to the 6 months.

But hey, I still cosleep and bf my 2yo so I'm in a waaaay different style to the Gina Ford one!

peasandquiet · 02/01/2017 21:05

There is a fab website for nappy prices www.bumdeal.co.uk

RasperryInAMelon · 02/01/2017 21:08

Neeshoes no prob - will do tomorrow.

Acorn it is very similar to the Gina Ford styles. Absolutely no way that either DH or I will be moving out of our room to roomshare. Having a baby is stressful enough on a relationship, we still need to make sure we get time to ourselves IMO.

Adventuregame · 02/01/2017 21:23

My friend swears by Aldi nappies ! Says better than pampers and huggies etc ?!

Friends of ours are the same Adventure.

I thought about buying some that are on offer in different sizes when we do our shopping. However, we had another friend who did the same but sadly their LO got awful nappy rash from the ones they had purchased and had a house full of nappies they couldn't use 😩

1004Rise · 02/01/2017 21:53

On nursery styles, Pinterest has loads of ideas for gender neutral design. I'm determined not to do pink or blue anyway. We'll have off white walls and then grey and yellow accessories. We'll hoping to move before baby arrives so I want stuff that I can just hang on the walls wherever we move to. The baby can't tell the difference either way so while I want it to look nice and fresh I'm not going to go overboard. Smile

IAmSeriousAndDontCallMeShirley · 02/01/2017 22:00

I second the Aldi nappies, my daughter is nearly 15 months. We have tried all the brands and they are by far the best as well as being a bargain. Win!

EsmesBees · 02/01/2017 22:13

Aldi nappies are good. But nothing beats pampers for overnights in my experience. Also which ones fit will depend on the build of your baby so better not to buy too many now.

stationaryace · 02/01/2017 23:01

My friend bought us a groupon deal on size 1 nappies which lasted us until 3 months, at which point my lo outgrew them and we moved to reusables. The full remaining box was given to my SIL a few months ago when my niece arrived. So don't rush out an buy hundreds of nappies on special - you may find your baby ends up outgrowing them, has a reaction or even that they don't fit and cause extra leaks. SIL swears by Aldi, but if I was going down the disposable route I'd get a few different packs of size 1 nappies to start with and see what worked best.

Poor second child doesn't have a room yet, it's currently our clothes storage room (funny house with no built in wardrobes!) and probably won't get sorted until the end of the year when we'll move it out of our room. Knowing my luck that's when DD1 will start coming into our bed at random times "for cuddles'...

dreamofhungarianlanterns · 03/01/2017 00:04

Wooohooo! We just bought a pre loved pram off t'internet. The model and colour we wanted (DP being much more girly and insistent Grin about the colour than me) and - phew phew phew - carrycot bit of pram never been used so my anxiety about what to do about a mattress for that can do one!

Can't wait for more scan pics and stories this week ladies, fingers and toes crossed for you all. Sorry some of you continue to feel not great Flowers. I thought I'd be on the scales all the time but have never bothered since I found out. Our bodies are unconsciously doing something that we have to read about to even partly understand and we are all amazing Star

Autumnsweater · 03/01/2017 07:01

Aldi nappies have a Which best buy (and Mumsnet I think), a few people have recommended them to me.

Roughly at what age do babies grow out of the different sizes? I was hoping to stockpile a bit by buying a box every time I did the weekly shop from now onwards (to save money when on SMP) or could we end up wasting money this way?

teainbed · 03/01/2017 07:06

Impossible to say Autumn, they can be in one size for ages and then take a growth spurt and grow out of things really quickly. By all means buy some nappies but anyone I know that's stockpiled has ended up with surplus of the wrong sizes.

Autumnsweater · 03/01/2017 07:11

Sorry I just didn't read some of the above posts properly then Blush.

So, is a better plan to buy a box each of a few different brands of size 1, then see which I prefer/baby prefers once born and being used?

Have been reading about baby car seats last night and bit overwhelmed.. reading all the Which safety stuff. Thinking of either the Maxi Cosi Pebble Plus, Kiddy Evo Luna or the Joie I-Gemm I think. Pretty sure about getting an i-size anyway. Want to get nearly everything else second hand if possible but want to spend money on the safest car seat

Autumnsweater · 03/01/2017 07:12

Thanks teainbed I'll just put money to one side instead then

teainbed · 03/01/2017 08:05

Yes save the money instead! Have also seen people stockpile things like wipes and toiletries in huge quantities that their DC end up being allergic to so really little point at this stage until you know what suits them.

lucieloos · 03/01/2017 08:36

I've got 2 jumbo size packs of pampers one pack is size 1 which is meant to be for 4-11lbs and size 2 which is for 6-13lbs. I only spent £11 on them as got 1 pack free so a really good deal and I figure that a least some of them have to be ok. If not it's no big deal but would rather have some in for us to start off with.

Adventuregame · 03/01/2017 09:05

Autumn I'm going to get the Kiddy Evo Luna fix as we will have to do a lot of long journey travelling ! It looks amazing ! I was thinking of joining Which? to read the safety comparisons etc

OP posts:
teainbed · 03/01/2017 09:35

That's hardly stockpiling lucie! I meant people who buy twenty packs! Grin

lucieloos · 03/01/2017 09:50

Haha no I know tea. Didn't mean it in relation to your post. I was tempted to get more as it was such a good deal but they've pretty much sold out now and i prob have enough to keep me going for a while. How many nappies does a baby get through a day on average??

1004Rise · 03/01/2017 11:19

Another newbie question... what does it mean if a pram carrycot isn't rated for overnight sleeping? Does it mean they could sleep in it downstairs during the day because you'll be supervising?

teainbed · 03/01/2017 11:38

It really varies lucie! With every feed in the early days. Later on maybe 2-3 hourly. Depends on the baby, my DD2 did a poo once a week, it was like a big event in our house when it happened! They were all breastfeed but completely different frequencies of wee and poo. Agree the pampers for overnights if you're using disposables, they hardly ever leak.

McBaby · 03/01/2017 11:50

To start with they use about 8-12 nappies a day! My two dds pooed frequently for the first year so we went through a lot of nappies.

I fell over on the school run today on the ice. I fell on my side and hip which isn't helping Spd. I have also pulled all my stomach muscles as I also stopped the buggy veering completely in to the road. So feeling sore and achy but baby is moving away etc. Everything should be ok right!?!
