It's all to do with technique of the person administering the needle, the worse they do it the bigger the bruise generally. So says my mum who was a community nurse so she's jabbed a fair few folk in her time Grin

1004Rise · 20/12/2016 00:13

My pillow is this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0052E68IC/ref=cmswwrsmsstai_TwhwybSWENJR6

It's awesome!!! Used it for a week now and every time I've woken up in the position I went to sleep in... and it cured my pins & needles in my arms too which means I wake up less!

I use it upside down and back to front from the picture, so the solid bit is down my back when I lie on my left (if that makes sense). Only cost me £28 last week though and now it's back at full price Shock

Just adding myself in as I had dropped off somewhere along the line.

On my commute into London- only 3 more to go this week :) wahoo! Xx

I am bruising loads more at the moment with my injections, the hospital said its just due to increased blood volume though you can get a bad stab even with the best of technique!

MrsJW15 · 20/12/2016 12:44

Need to leave for my scan in about 20 minutes and I am just sitting here staring at the clock!

lalaland1985 · 20/12/2016 12:49

Good luck MrsJW!!!

Just changing my due date Xmas Smile

RasperryInAMelon · 20/12/2016 13:02

Wow lala they've moved you back a bit hey!

lalaland1985 · 20/12/2016 13:16

Yes! I had two 'twelve week' scans! I knew the first date was out though as I always have longer cycles.

Badgerbird · 20/12/2016 15:16

Yes I wasn't impressed barnes! She brought it up twice that it wouldn't be her that would refer me and as NHS don't want to spend money the gp will prob just give me a print out to try. Oh well, Drs appointment fri so we'll see. I need to get back to doing more yoga really and hopefully that will help.

Thanks for sharing research tea I'll have a look. It hasn't occurred to me it could affect baby after birth! Oh it was the midwife who laughed Blush

rustler think we're going to do the envelope thing too. May open Xmas day, not decided yet....

nurse how are you feeling today? Hope shift went ok.

Badgerbird · 20/12/2016 15:17

jw hope all is going well Smile

teainbed · 20/12/2016 15:55

Amazing what different care we've all got. I just phoned the physio office to book the class and after that they said just ring back if you need an appointment or any further help.

Sipperskipper · 20/12/2016 16:05

Had 20w scan - all looking fine! Hope everyone elses went ok?

MrsJW15 · 20/12/2016 16:06

Thanks all, all went well today. Baby looked fine and was measuring exactly average across the board. My notes do say anterior placenta, which probably explains why I haven't felt much movement.

It was a little frustrating though - last time we were in a lovely room with a big screen and got great images. This time we were in a room with a tech who couldn't work the lights properly, and a tiny screen that was quite hard to see. So I think our 12 week picture is better than this one!

On the plus side, I've signed up for a research trial where I get another scan, 3D imaging and an MRI and video some time between 20 and 29 weeks. So I'll get some more pictures!

RasperryInAMelon · 20/12/2016 16:33

Badger we opted to open our envelope a little sooner in the end and have bought babygrows to give to our parents as Christmas presents to share the news with our family

RasperryInAMelon · 20/12/2016 16:33

Mrs JW how did the trial come about? Something at your hospital?

MrsJW15 · 20/12/2016 17:11

Raspberry we are at St Thomas's and I guess they must use it for a lot of trials - we are actually involved in 3! One is a blood test, one is a blood test and swab, and the third was these extra scans which seemed like a bonus.

Mostly I am just part of the control group to compare to those having more difficult pregnancies. But I'm very happy to help out where we can.

Sipperskipper · 20/12/2016 17:15

Great news on good scans!

growcookeat · 20/12/2016 17:40

All good today at scan. Baby was wriggling all over but managed to get measurements in the end, after a drink and snack break. We had a student sonographer so was quite interesting to hear the experienced one talking her through all the different parts of baby. Not the best pic though as she couldn't quite press the button quick enough! Growth measurements all spot on average and gender still a surprise!!

Hope everyone else got on ok?

In other news - the dreamgenii I supposedly ordered has come back out of stock, presumably as it was on offer, so I might wait til the Xmas sales to see what's available.

growcookeat · 20/12/2016 17:41

Oh, here's the funny half scan done by the student sonographer!

jennymac31 · 20/12/2016 17:46

Mightymouse - I would say that was a case of bad technique. My sister-in-law experienced the same thing a couple of weeks ago and is still having difficulty lifting her arm due to the pain so am hoping you're OK.

My 20 weeks scan isn't until 4th January but it feels like it's ages away. Am really glad to hear the updates on everyone else's scans. Haven't really got a baby bump, as it's more of a case that my umbilical hernia is sticking out a bit more. Hopefully this will change soon!

Rabbitykins55 · 20/12/2016 17:53

MrsJW I felt the same! My 12 week scan is clearer than 20 weeks!

I'm also surprised how different everyone's care is. My maternity unit will only let you see or speak to a midwife after 19 weeks, before that you have to see your GP or go to casualty. I saw my GP about really bad back and pelvic pain, was helpfully told it's just going to get worse until the baby is born.

Placenta is also at the front. Can't remember the real name, explains why I only feel it at the sides!

IAmSeriousAndDontCallMeShirley · 20/12/2016 19:04

Jennymac we have our 20 week scans on the same day Smile

ShiniBerry · 20/12/2016 19:19

mightymouse I had a GTT 2 weeks ago and my arm was so sore for 2 days after and I had terrible bruising which has faded a bit but still quite noticeable.

Congratulations to everyone having their 20 week scans. LO has been moving loads the past week and I can feel him outside as well now.

For ladies flying over the holidays definitely get the compression socks and a small back pillow. The only way I survived a 11 hour flight to China and following 12 hour to Australia was thanks to my back pillow. Also lots of snacks!

Does anyone have crazy heartburn? Literally anything I eat brings it on. Also have started having leg cramps while in bed.
