Savage I guess it takes time for everything to move back to where it should be. I think I just (naively) thought that your bump was all baby, it never occurred to me before being pregnant that there were other things in the way that had to move (at this point I probably shouldn't admit that most of my second year at university was dedicated to Anatomy and Developmental Biology)!! I've realised that I was naive about a lot of pregnancy things!!! BlushHmmConfused

savagehk · 16/12/2016 12:20

yeah. You have a lot of extra fluids (I believe to the extent that some people actually weigh more immediately post birth than before, although I'm guessing that's unusual!) Your poor uterus takes a while to get back to 'normal' size and you also build up a few fat reserves for preparation for breastfeeding.

I put on over 15kgs with my first (that's the last time I weighed myself and I think I only gave birth 3 weeks later!); of which 4.2kgs was baby, plus maybe another kg?? for the placenta.

Rustler74 · 16/12/2016 12:41

RaspberryInAMelon great idea about bump pictures. So far I'd been taking them on my camera so I can put them on computer easier.
1004Rise I am similarly naive about the pregnancy although I heard so many stories about births, due to the job I'm in.
Let's hope that the breastfeeding will help getting me back in shape because I just don't see it happening that I'd go to the gym with a tiny baby!

savagehk · 16/12/2016 13:15

Forgot to say scan this morning and all's well. Baby is lying across my stomach which explains the movements I've been feeling all along, head under right ribs and feet regularly kicking bladder (luckily not currently rushing off to loo to pee when it happens!).

I'll be trying to persuade baby to head into a better position now I think by watching my posture and perhaps doing a few 'positions', ended up with a back to back baby last time which wasn't great. (Obviously there's still lots of time / place for it to move on its own, but trying for better positioning can't hurt.)

1004Rise · 16/12/2016 13:23

Good news on the scan savage!

How do you persuade baby to move into a better position.... what is a better position?!?

FoxMulder · 16/12/2016 13:30

God, you guys are so super fit! I've never done an exercise class. Or, err, any exercise.

Adventuregame · 16/12/2016 13:37

My yoga teacher said there is lots of things to encourage baby to move head down even as early as this - I think it was to do with always sitting with good posture and not slouching on the sofa for example ?

Ha ha 1004 you took the words straight out of my mouth!! Grin

Interesting about the yoga positions adventure...

PeachIcedT · 16/12/2016 13:46

Glad to hear all ok on the scan savage. I played badminton for the first time in a month this week, it was ok but today I can really feel it in my pelvis. Don't know how much more I'll manage it. Swimming sounds like a good option but it doesn't appeal to me in winter brrr.

I woke up this morning really desperate for a pee - must have been holding it in my sleep. My bladder has consequently been painful all day. At least I hope it's just my bladder ? I'm drinking lots of water to try and flush my system a bit but feel really uncomfortable, bump feels heavy, dodgy hip is agony and basically can't wait to go home (that will be a mission due to train driver strikes), have a long soak in the bath, get pyjamas on and maybe have a listen with the doppler to reassure me ! Scan is Wednesday so not too long to wait. Just really want to be at home right now.
Sorry for the moan.

Chin up Adventure, not long til home time and then you can snuggle up nice and cosy for the night. Sorry to hear your bladder's been painful. I have pain if I need a wee and hold it too long. The bean doesn't like that! Maybe take a paracetamol to see if it helps ease the pain?

Raspberry photo update sounds a lovely idea. Am Deffo feeling pregnant now and have been accused of eating all the mince pies! I don't mind, I just laugh and try to remember I'm doing something amazing so it doesn't matter how I look or what others think (also I have delightful pregnancy spots too - at least 2 a week which is fabulous!).

So to all the ladies who are feeling a bit glum about body size/shape, you have precious cargo onboard so have every right to look as skinny/big/round/flat as you may do - you are beautiful amazing women doing something very special!

INeedNewShoes · 16/12/2016 15:12

Adventure - I sometimes think my bladder/uterus is hurting only to find that it was constipation! You may feel better after you've next been to the loo.

Try not to worry too much. My 20-week scan is next week as well and I know I most definitely have scanxiety!

And another note of positivity to those feeling gloomy about their growing body - this is what is supposed to be happening! And so what, anyway! The only priority is the baby and us getting through our pregnancies as best we can even if that means hoovering our way through snacks to keep the nausea at bay at times!

I'm actually properly worried because I was very unwell last month leading to me being no heavier than before I got pregnant. I sincerely do not see this as a good thing as this is not normal for a healthy pregnancy.

MissMooMoo · 16/12/2016 15:36

adventure sorry to hear you are in pain!
I have similar pain, almost like constant pressure on my bladder but don't need a wee. I think my baby might be quite low lying? Maybe baby has changed position.
Hopefully a warm bath will help you feel better.

MrsJW15 · 16/12/2016 15:41

MissMooMoo I get that sometimes, I think it must be baby on my bladder. It's not all the time but does happen some times.

Adventure hope a bath makes you feel better. I'm meant to be going to a party tonight but bath and sofa sounds better to me...

Adventuregame · 16/12/2016 15:44

Thanks all. I gave in and took a paracetamol. NewShoes you could be right ! Hopefully it will all settle by the end of the day and I'll feel ok again.

Yes badger! I'm still catching myself holding my stomach in - it's madness! I was feeling pretty rubbish about my bump but I seem to have popped out quite a lot more this week (20 weeks today!!) and people are commenting saying it's a neat bump. Doesn't look like it to me though, my tummy button seems to be making a strange shape at the front of my bump Confused

Keep thinking about the amazing job we are all doing ladies - it really is incredible what our bodies can do. I'm sure we'd be just as worried if we were tiny.

Finished for Christmas today so am home with pjs on, Christmas film and early night I think!

RasperryInAMelon · 16/12/2016 19:16

Having a total shite mood evening... I've just devoured a ton of chocolate on the train too as... on a Friday night, I'm only just on my way home. Literally had the week from hell.

Thought I'd take DH to see the new StarWars film tonight and APU he's agreed to work overtime...so his boss can go to the cinema! I know IABU but it's put me in the worst mood... oh well...

savagehk · 16/12/2016 20:54

Ideally by birth you want baby head down and with its back by your tummy. From early on as said posture and not slouching can help. I sat on a gym/birthing ball at work last pregnancy and will fish that out again as the chair is getting uncomfortable which should also help. I'm going to have a good read of the spinning babies website too.

jennymac31 · 17/12/2016 07:36

Morning ladies

Hope you are all well.

Been experiencing major lightning crotch over the last day or two. I've still got a few bits and pieces to get for Christmas and I really don't know how I'm gonna get about without wincing in pain!

Shoney85 · 17/12/2016 07:47

20 weeks today for me, can't believe I'm half way! Added a picture taken this morning and today.

Lots of kicks every day but usually during the day at work so not getting a chance to feel it from outside. Can't wait for hubby to feel it too. Was flying on domestic flight yesterday as back today, was stressed about even though I know it was fine. Happy baby is still kicking away and prob have a sneaky hear of HB on Doppler tonight when home to settle nerves. Sooo stressful!

I was very active before pregnancy doing something most days (running, hiit, Kettlebells etc) then because of all the nausea, tiredness and sickness completely unable to do anything but eat as that made me feel better. I love the bump but everywhere else is soo big that I feel awful. Tough when you have spent years trying to be good and lose weight. Def set me a goal of getting back to my size ten clothes, no major time limit but hopefully no longer than a year

Has anyone else experienced the phantom hangover? One glass of (hideously expensive) Appletise type stuff and water all night at Christmas party, awake from 3 with with sicky feeling and now headache. Booo.

dreamofhungarianlanterns · 17/12/2016 09:02

On the other hand... look at this little face!!!

20 week scan yesterday, all looks well and confirmed he's a boy (as far as they will). Feeling rather giddy Smile

Glad yours went well savage

MissMooMoo · 17/12/2016 09:12

That is a great picture dream !

Dh got up this morning and went to westfield for 9am when it opens with a plan to get all his gifts in max 40 minutes! I will be shocked if he does.
We still need to get a Christmas tree.
Baby was quite active last night and I swore I could feel a kick from the outside when I was rubbing my belly butter on.
Can't wait for DH to feel it.

MissMooMoo · 17/12/2016 09:14

jenny hope that lets up soon, it sounds uncomfortable!

shoney your bump is lovely. I also flew domestic last weekend and was worried which seemed a bit silly considering the flight was under a hour and I wasn't leaving the UK Blush
