A new thread and 14 pages later and I'm back! Nice to see you again ladies 😊

This is getting rather exciting now isn't it. 20 weeks on Saturday for us and we have our scan on Monday. The bean has been extremely active the last few weeks kicking and wriggling, it's becoming more real.

FoxMulder · 15/12/2016 19:58

Yeah, I know what you mean rustler

Autumnsweater · 15/12/2016 20:12

shini yes - and I'm only 18 weeks. Three different people have asked me if I'm sure it's not twins Hmm

teainbed · 15/12/2016 20:30

Stupid twats Autumn, do they seriously think that is a) a helpful or funny thing to say or b) a sonographer could actually have missed a baby on your scan? I always think of witty comebacks to these things ages after they've happened, perhaps we should line them up ready to go!

I do dread the 'haven't you two got a telly?' comments, I see from the Larger Families topic here that the correct response is 'we do have a telly but we prefer having lots of sex' though I don't know if I'd be brave enough to say it or not!

Rabbitykins55 · 15/12/2016 20:46

Comments about my appearance is pissing me off. It's not acceptable to tell someone they look like they've put in weight so don't tell a pregnant woman they look big.

MrsJW15 · 15/12/2016 21:25

Rustler I know what you mean - my feelings too!

Yellow let us know if that works.

Barnes79 · 15/12/2016 22:04

Is anyone else having a hard time adjusting mentally to their pregnancy body? I was overweight about 10 years ago and worked hard to get in shape. Now the loss of control just makes me feel fat and all I do is dress to hide the fat belly. I don't have a proper bump yet so don't know if this feeling will change when it arrives... ConfusedCakeCakeCake

1004Rise · 15/12/2016 22:29

Barnes Yes! I've been having a few "I feel fat" days, went for a bath this evening and my boobs were resting on my bump - not impressed! I've always been a size 8/10 an until the last couple of years never really needed to worry about what I ate. My DH keeps telling its ok, an that actually I've just gone out the front and it won't last forever, but I think you're right it's more about the loss of control Sad (I freely admit to being a control enthusiast!!)

Rabbitykins55 · 15/12/2016 22:29

Barnes yes me. I have an obvious bump now but people have suggested that maybe I'm just getting a bit fat. It hurt. I'm already worried about how I'll look after.

MrsJW15 · 15/12/2016 22:48

Yes me too Barnes. My husband keeps reminding me it's the baby, but I do feel fat, and, like Rise out of control. I think it's also because it still doesn't really look bump like. Hopefully when it does I'll feel better.

Badgerbird · 15/12/2016 23:23

Totally makes sense rustler and big congratulations on your pregnancy Smile Yep I'm not that far from you and I'm 39, first time mum too. My other half puts his head on my tummy too and laughs at all the gurgling!

Just had another chat about wether we are going to find sex out and still not decided. Even though I think I'm having a girl I'm totally happy having either.

barnes yes the body thing takes some getting used to. I'm getting there now but a few weeks ago I was a bit upset about it. I'm still catching myself holding my tummy in, anyone else?? Guess old habits die hard!

I (naively) just assumed you got a lovely little preggo bump & maybe a bit extra in other places. I just look like I've eaten loads of pizza!!! It seems like my body isn't big enough (5foot 2) so my expanded uterus has pushed other organs up?! I kinda stick out directly under my boobs rather than a cute pouch lower down. I'm guessing some of it's bloating??!

We've all got to remember how we feel when we see a pregnant woman... I know it always makes me smile and I think she looks beautiful Smile

stationaryace · 16/12/2016 00:35

Just to point out if anyone is thinking of travelling abroad after 30 weeks, make sure to check the fine print of your travel insurance as it's not only airlines and ferries which have date restrictions. Last time my work were going to send me over to one of our offices in Russia for a week but took too long to organise and I was no longer covered under their travel policy.

crazyzooo · 16/12/2016 05:09

Barnes, Badger, MrsJw15 I feel your pain... I have gained a stone so far... Was very happy with my pre-pregnancy body at 35... Did low-carb and lots of exercise. Bump simply won't stand for low carb and pelvic floor, nausea and hips won't stand for anything more strenuous than swimming. So I am expanding. Fast.

On the bright side my OH bought me a pregnancy pillow... Best thing ever!!

Autumnsweater · 16/12/2016 07:00

teainbed Exactly, and it turned at least one of them just isn't aware of time passing and thought I was still around 12 weeks Hmm. I've been walking round trying to come up with a witty comeback Grin. Weird thing is it's all women who've had children saying it!

1004Rise · 16/12/2016 08:23

Aww Badger that's a really good way to look at it, I suspect if we all saw each other we'd say we were "glowing" Smile

Last day at work for me today a whole 19 days off work... fully intend to relax as much as possible!!

Badgerbird · 16/12/2016 09:21

crazy, low carb and lots of exercise GrinGrinGrin Sorry that made me giggle!! Yep sounds familiar!! Not anymore!!

Although my tastebuds are getting back to some normality and I can eat salad again now and have been on some walks. Nothing compared to my military fitness, running, yoga, juicing etc but hey, I'm busy building a baby!! Wink

RasperryInAMelon · 16/12/2016 09:22

Soooo lucky Rise! I still have 5 days next week and then 4 off for Christmas and back in for crimbo limbo Sad

MissMooMoo · 16/12/2016 10:06

I know what you mean badger I was going to spin a few times a week before I got pregnant and then I was too tired/ill to keep going so just stopped! Ive taken up more swimming but I can't wait to get back to my usual routine once baby arrives.

I am feeling SO much better and actually hungry, I think the virus has passed now. Weighed myself this morning and I have lost any weight I had gained during the pregnancy, I won't feel guilty pigging out over Christmas.
I have 2 days of work next week and then am ofd until the beg of Jan. My parents arrive from Canada next Friday! I can't wait to see them and spend some quality time with them.

MrsJW15 · 16/12/2016 10:18

I'm really keen to start swimming - most of my exercise at the moment is walking - but there just aren't many pools around here and the ones near work all belong to pricey gyms. I may be able to go today as I'm working from home - if I can fit my boobs into any of my bikinis!

Autumnsweater · 16/12/2016 11:16

I agree with everyone about it being difficult adjusting to pregnancy/body - the only time I've had a crazy hormonal cry was the other day because I can't run any more (I know some people can, but from week 5 I would vomit if I tried and now I go all dizzy) - I did laugh afterwards at myself because I don't even like running! But I'd done so well over the last 18 months getting fit with running and now I've lost it all. Still walking the dogs and I get out of breath doing that Confused.

Rustler74 · 16/12/2016 11:27

Re adjusting to pregnancy body, I don't feel any problems with my appearance, really, and my better half says he finds me extra attractive (bless him!). It's the emotions and short fuse I get worried about.
Had a rough time at work lately and I've not worked there long yet. Pregnancy makes me experience the stress even more and I don't think I can put up with it. I cry lots about that but also about something in a film or a beautiful piece of music etc. Tough to get used to
X
Thank you badgerbird and all others, lovely discussion!

RasperryInAMelon · 16/12/2016 11:36

I've done nothing since August when I got married embarrassingly. The only time I've been to the gym since was when I went to cancel my membership! Blush

I'm still experiencing extreme fatigue though and am all but dosing off at my desk by 3pm, in bed by 9.30pm max and other than getting up to pee a million times a night I'm sleeping straight through till 6.30am!

I'm loving my bump, but feel tubby and sluggish myself. I'm finding having such a big appetite tough and feel like all I do is eat non stop!

savagehk · 16/12/2016 11:38

Try not to stress too much about the pregnancy bodies ladies - in my case all the baby weight fell off pretty rapidly with breastfeeding. (You will, however, still look pregnant just after giving birth, this is normal!)

Sipperskipper · 16/12/2016 12:00

I dont look pregnant at all, just a little bit fatter! I have a sort of bump but it really does just look fat. I've lost my nice little waist though which is annoying as that's my best bit! Am naturally curvy / hourglass but now just look bloated. My friend is only 14 weeks and has a full on, neat, perfect bump - it is her 3rd though!

RasperryInAMelon · 16/12/2016 12:04

Maybe in the new year we should post some new bump pictures and see where we're at compared to last time!
