Some of you with babies due in early July might be able to do Christmas dinner as baby's first food - how much fun?!

Harvestwidow · 26/12/2016 20:47

Hi everyone, I'm expecting my first baby, due date 12/07/17 at the min, dating scan on Thursday,

mummycaitlin · 26/12/2016 22:15

crombana I didn't think they could check the sex until 16 weeks at the earliest? Maybe I'm wrong?!

Notyetthere · 27/12/2016 06:26

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and welcome to the newbies. I haven't been on here from a while as I was hosting 20 people so a lot of prep was involved. I had lots of help from DM, aunties and cousins but it was still exhausting nonetheless. Dh and I offered to do it as we didn't think we would conceive so soon after miscarriage.

Mummy I believe crobanna might be having a blood test as part of her private package which will pick up the baby's sex.

Not much is happening to me apart from a migraine that has lingered in the background over the last few days. I have had to take paracetamol a few times and I I also had cocodamol once when it was really bad. Anybody else dealing with headaches at the beginning of the 2nd tri? I can only attribute it to two possibilities - 1) stress and tiredness from hosting xmas day which should subside now it's over or 2)- a change in hormones now that the placenta should be well formed and performing it's duties. I think this really is a possibility as I always have migraines right before my periods and also had one before mc as hcg had dropped dramatically over a few days.

Spin Yes 2017 xmas day could be baby's first meal. Now that would be special! I hadnt thought of that.

Crom I find that the bloat increases with the day. My tummy is normally quite flat in the mornings but by the end of the day, it's big and round. I have now even resorted to not eating anytime after 4pm if I need a good nights sleep.

13+3 today and time is dragging again. At 11wks it picked up a bit but it could have been the excitement of the scans that has now worn off. I don't feel nauseous anymore, less spitty, and worryingly I think my belly has also shrunk; surely it should be going the other way? It could be that I have lost a little weight since cutting out dinner at 7pm but it's still disconcerting. I don't actually feel pregnant iyswim. I can't wait to see it sticking out and baby kicking for some reassurance as I might end up paying for another scan just to check it's all still happening and progressing as it should.

I will stop here as I think I am rumbling.

Not I feel the same / it's hard to believe it's still in there!

Spindelina · 27/12/2016 08:08

This baby will be hopefully not exactly five years older than DD, so all the age-related milestones will be at the same time of year!

rhodes2015 · 27/12/2016 08:21

Not ... I'm 13 weeks today and also feel the same, I can't believe there's a baby in there... I feel quite normal (despite having a little bump)
I have had headaches too though, in fact I woke up with one the other night at 3am! Paracetamol sorted it quickly but its almost like I've always got the start of a cold that never materialises!?

Anyway hope everyone has had a great Xmas!

TinklingTheIvories · 27/12/2016 08:27

Spindelina- my DH has a brother exactly 3 years younger. It's a great birthday present!

Both birthdays around the same time of year would be good, especially as it's not near Christmas!

Spindelina · 27/12/2016 09:30

Summer birthdays are great - parties in the garden and presents every six months or so.

But I'm still hoping this one makes it to August. That's an entirely different month! And a whole week between them. I'd only need to go 11 days over, which is less than I did with DD.

Notyetthere · 27/12/2016 10:21

Oh yes. Dh I'd looking forward to having lots of bbqs during the summer months. He has even indicated that he might try to keep the lawn green this year (all i see is a high wster bill!)as he anticipates lots of baby photos in the garden.

There is a discussion on th pregnancy section about mum/baby related xmas sales. If any of you intend to buy anything.

For those that told their families on xmas day, how did it go? Grandma has already started on her knitsGrin. Aunt and uncle suspected and had placed a £5 bet on the announcemen being made. One auntie hopes it's a boy as dh is the last one in the line of their family so if its all girls then that is it; I might lose my headGrin. Then a discussion ensued on what the baby might look like (we are a mixed raced couple). Grandma pictured big bouncy curls hair; I told her it will probably be more a massive beautiful coily mess. She didn't like the sound of that. Grin. PIL said, 'Well done!" Shortly followed by uncle(very drunk) saying you mean well done for having sex and being husband and wife? Now that was awkward.

I've had to take some paracetamol, had a few headaches. Worst one was on Xmas day but I think that was the stress of hosting. On a good note the past 3 days I've woke up not feeling sick!! Hopefully it's on its way out!

I'm the same, belly pretty flat in the morning but by the end of the day I have a little bump. Can't wait for my midwife appointment on 20th Jan, just want to be reassured that everything is still ok in there.

Spindelina · 27/12/2016 11:43

Notyet, which races, if you don't mind me asking? I'm white brunette; DH is Indian. DD has almost Mediterranean skin with very dark brown eyes and dark straight hair. Her dark features and lighter skin make her look stunning!

Notyetthere · 27/12/2016 12:25

Spin Dh is white and I am black. He is very tall (over 1ft height diff) and slim build. I am short and curvy so it is going to be very fascinating(not sure that is the right word) to see which features baby draws from both of us. Apparently the darker side tends to have more dominant genes. I expect brown eyes.

Hi all, hope everybody had a great Christmas! I know it's a bit early but we have taken advantage of the sales and brought our baby monitor, Moses basket and bouncy chair from mothercare sale. I feel incredibly over prepared now and like I've got an awfully long wait ahead! 13+4 today and feel like I've been at the 13 mark for ages!

crombanna · 27/12/2016 13:26

Yep mummy it's part of the harmony deal I had. I admire those waiting for delivery I could NOT do that!!

Fizzy paracetamol for headaches - top tip. Works better for me and digestion bit dodgy in pregnancy so it's more effective imho.

I'm sure lack of bump and headaches are part of changing hormones but also probably a way our bodies can tell us
..Slow down! I don't feel pregnant much at the mo either but I'm confident it's part of entering the glowing second trimester.

Me and my husband are white but dark haired so would be flabbergasted to have a blondie. I've always thought interesting mixes make for the cutest babies though. Darn.

purplebella · 27/12/2016 14:59

I lost my place on the thread, had to find you all again!

I didn't quite make it to the toilet at work today and threw up all over the floor! Boss just said "I hope you cleaned it up". I work in a big shop so I'm just thankful I wasn't on the shop floor lol.

We told the family (not dd's) and they were really pleased

Seahawk80 · 28/12/2016 18:21

How's everyone doing? Is anyone else having another private scan after the 12 weeks? I'm really struggling to believe that there's still something in there!!

thumbsupforthesixbillion · 28/12/2016 18:24

Seahawk the anxiety has kicked back in today big time as I'm starting to feel so normal. I didn't even get up last night to use the toilet and I've spent all day thinking something must be wrong. It's going to get expensive with any more private scans whenever I feel like this so trying to hold on for 20 week scan now!

rhodes2015 · 28/12/2016 20:32

Seahawk, I've booked a private scan for 16+4 (I'm 13+1 today) I've had 2 nhs scans so far but we would like to know the sex but more importantly, be reminded im still pregnant!

Seahawk80 · 28/12/2016 20:50

Glad I'm not the only one! Im trying to hold on too. I have a midwife appt on 19 Jan and I think they listen to the heartbeat then. Thumbs do you have any appts? That might break up the wait.

I'm jealous of your scan Rhodes DH has said we should wait. I could have a sneaky one on my own but I'd feel really bad so I'm trying to wait

Seahawk80 · 28/12/2016 20:51

We had 3 scans in 3 weeks with harmony / NHS - think I got a bit addicted!

Bawbles · 28/12/2016 20:53

I've got 12 week scan tomorrow, it'll be my 5th scan (had extras due to bleeding) but last one was 9+ weeks so looking forward to seeing an actual baby shape this time. Feel slightly nervous but sure it'll be ok

suntraveller · 28/12/2016 21:01

Just wondering if I should have received my notes from the MW after the booking in appt? I'll have my 12wk scan on Jan 12 and thought I was supposed to bring them with me.

Spindelina · 28/12/2016 21:29

sun my notes will appear at my 12 week scan and get sent home with me, all being well.

I got BFP at 4.5 weeks, then scans at 6, 7 and 9 weeks. "12 week" scan will be at 13 weeks - that's basically a whole month of no scans! 11 weeks today and fed up of being in limbo.

DH has been puking today, so I am staying well away!

Good luck for tomorrow, Bawbles.
