Love to both rum and fifi

bluebird1235 · 23/12/2016 16:26

Hello lovely ladies. I am so sorry to all of you who have had bad news recently and fx for you all in the future.

I had my pre Christmas private scan today and took my mum along with me (I think she's still getting over the shock!). Both my little beans are growing nicely and possibly slightly ahead of schedule. I should be 10+3 today but the sonographer reckoned more like 11 weeks. Both very wriggly and good heart speeds. Though for some reason (I'm blaming it on poking my stomach so much whilst I had a very full bladder) I had to run to the loo afterwards to be sick. First time for me and I haven't had too much nausea so I'm hoping it was a one off event, but it did make me feel rather sorry for those of you who have bad morning sickness!!

Saltycaramel I'm very excited to have a twin buddy! How are you feeling? I sleep and eat all the time but am otherwise ok so far. Have you discovered the multiples section on here? There's a 2017 multiples thread. It's not as active as this one. But it's nice to hear from some who are a little further on than us! There are other recent convos on things that are handy like buggies and stuff too.

In other news, DP whisked me away on holiday this week and he is now DH!! He planned it all by himself and it was absolutely perfect. My parents are a bit overwhelmed that we've come back from holiday and announced that not only have we got married, but we're also having twins!

Wow, mammoth post, Here are some photos:

Bawbles · 23/12/2016 17:00

Congrats Bluebird, that's really lovely news!

racketpot · 23/12/2016 18:40

Friday, finally!!

Sorry for your news Fifi, hope Christmas in good company brings some relief/distraction FlowersFlowers

Drew fingers crossed the bleeding's gone.

We were told everything normal so far at the scan, good luck to all who are waiting for their test in the coming weeks.

We were given a 3D image which looks like a plasticine figure (not the usual ecography black and white). Anyone dare to venture a nub guess with this? Grin

racketpot · 23/12/2016 18:42

Congrats on all the good news bluebird, just saw your post.

Sonographer also reckoned I was slightly further along 12+2 instead of 11+3.
Smile

racketpot · 23/12/2016 18:43

Any guesses for this little bean's sex?

So sorry to hear your news, rum and fifi - hope you manage to have a good Christmas.

Congrats on your news, bluebird - finishing the year in style! I've been knackered and pretty sick, especially the last week or so, by nothing so bad that I ever suspected there might be two in there! I haven't seen the multiples board, will go check it out...

Seahawk80 · 23/12/2016 20:18

Congrats bluebird Xmas Smile

LuciBee231015 · 23/12/2016 20:45

Sorry to hear your news fifi and rum, thinking of you and your partners 💐

So I'm 14 weeks today and have a definite little bump. The bit below my belly button feels constantly stretched.

Had a little look at prams tonight... So confusing! Mothercare sale starts tomorrow tho just FYI! Got my eye on a silver cross wayfarer travel system. My dad has kindly offered that as his contribution, kind of relieved as when I saw the price I was rather shocked 😳 These things cost a bomb!

Hope everyone is doing well. Enjoying the calm before the storm of 12 people on Xmas day!

Seahawk80 · 23/12/2016 21:27

Wow Luci I haven't even thought about prams- you are v organised!! thanks for the tip about the sale!

thumbsupforthesixbillion · 23/12/2016 21:42

Luci I started making a shopping / budget list the other day and got completely overwhelmed so stepped away, you've done well to get to the point of considering prams!

Bawbles · 23/12/2016 22:47

Luci the silver cross looks nice. It's good to be organised.

DP keeps asking me to make a baby list - I'm avoiding it as;

  1. I'm still trying to convince him we can reuse stuff from DD - his preference is to replace everything with brand new
  2. Stuff is so bloody expensive I'm not keen on spending £££s yet and having to store it all somewhere (we are having some building work done next year)
  3. DP gets carried away easily with anything for baby, we only went to Mamas and Papas to browse and I had to restrain him from buying a £250 bouncing chair
LuciBee231015 · 24/12/2016 10:25

Yeah think I'm getting carried away, won't be buying anything just yet!

I woke up at 3am this morning and couldn't get back to sleep... Eventually fell back to sleep at 6am and then was awake again at 8. So tired now!! 😩

TinklingTheIvories · 24/12/2016 10:35

We had a wander around mamas and papas and mothercare earlier in the week. The first thing my parents said to me when I told them I was pregnant, was 'do you have a spreadsheet'? Ha! Not yet - waiting until 12 weeks - I'm not jynxing anything!!

Spindelina · 24/12/2016 11:23

I've got my 12 week scan appointment through for Weds 11th Jan (13+0 by LMP). At my local hospital, the 12 week scans are contracted out to a private company, who do them out of hours (evenings and weekends) using the hospital scanners and mostly hospital sonographers.

That works great for first timers, but arranging childcare for a mystery appointment is a right pain! My appointment is exactly when DD should be getting in bed, so we'll have to see what we can arrange.

Bawbles · 24/12/2016 12:48

We told DD this morning, she seemed pleased if a little nonchalant.

12 weeks today, it's going fast now.

Lallypopstick · 24/12/2016 16:31

Racketpot no idea on the gender (and am trying to avoid reading about the nub theory as I don't want to find out what I'm having), but that's a really clear scan picture! Do you know why they gave you a 3D image?

Hope everyone is enjoying Christmas Eve. I'm eating a lot of (pregnancy friendly) cheese and crackers and trying not to be too sad that I can't have a Bucks Fizz or two tomorrow. I got some fancy pop to have instead, so hopefully that'll be just as nice if I put it in a flute glass!

Seahawk80 · 24/12/2016 17:26

Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas! Xmas Smile

I'm off for our traditional Xmas eve pub drinks - not quite the same this year! Unwrapping a couple of presents from my family to the baby has made it all feel
Much more real now!

LuciBee231015 · 24/12/2016 18:52

Have a lovely day tomorrow everyone. This time next year we will be mummies! ❤️

TinklingTheIvories · 25/12/2016 09:12

Happy Christmas everyone! Have a relaxing sober day. Xmas SmileXmas GrinXmas SmileXmas Smile

Spindelina · 26/12/2016 10:51

The prospect of wearing my one pair of jeans for the next week has had me rooting in my cupboards for my stash of clothes that fit bigger me.

Ahhhhhhh.

Bawbles · 26/12/2016 18:29

Spindelina I'm in leggings this week. I don't wear leggings usually but I'm at home and I'm too bloated to comtemplate much else.

New look had some fab maternity bargains online today, I got a coat reduced to £13, loungewear and jumpers/tops for £3-4

CatRash · 26/12/2016 19:10

Merry Christmas everyone!!! Hope everyone had a great day yesterday!!

I've been a bit of emotional wreck the past few days, I'm not an emotional type but everything has set me off. Call the Midwife last night!! Bloomin' heck!!

Thanks Bawbles I will check it out. I bought some maternity jeans from Next today but that's all I have.

Had a mini clear out of the wardrobe earlier and all size 10 or high waisted work trousers are being packed away along with a few jeans :( Like you Sound I think I'll have to get DH into the loft to find the car boot pile and see if any of my old 'fatter' trousers are in there Blush

CatRash · 26/12/2016 19:11

Sound = Spind - autocorrect

crombanna · 26/12/2016 19:45

Hi everyone, hope you have all had lovely Christmases. I was working but didn't mind - like the atmosphere and there was loads of food!

12 weeks today...It's going a little more quickly now that I don't spend every waking moment thinking about being pregnant! I had a cheeky listen in to the baby at work last night and heard the heartbeat for a couple of second before it swam away...

I am mega superstitious and am planning to start thinking about prams etc nearer to 30 weeks.

I am now finding that I am a bit more bloated in the mornings but that is also down to eating a hell of a lot more recently. I really need to get back to my work outs and healthy eating. I was doing so well!!

NHS and private scan next week where we will find out the sex of the baby. Eeeeek.

Keep thinking about next Christmas with a baby. How lovely that would be...
