More spookiness - someone on my local thread just posted about narcolepsy [spooky emoticon]!!!

EllieKwithaHUGEbump · 22/02/2007 21:03

ooh! only ever met one person with narcolepsy. I go to Papworth in Cambridgeshire for treatment, where does your auntie go and where is your local thread?

eidsvold · 22/02/2007 21:07

the things you miss when you are asleep - can't believe someone is annoyed at threat title in antenatal topic. Just don't click on it - I ignored it - nothing to do with me.

So tired today - sick of not sleeping without a good reason. Know when the babe gets here sleep will be a big issue but would like some prior.

Off swimming with dd2 today - always a nice half an hour.

Don't know what has gotten into dd1 - she is being so helpful and grown up of late - we used to get big dramas going down back stairs ( 17 stairs) and into the car. Now she just comes down the stairs and climbs into her car seat. She is working on dressing herself in the morning to get ready for sn or mainstream kindy. Doing her hair is still a minor hasle but no longer the fights it used to be. ( bet i speak too soon and it all goes tits up soon.)

35 weeks today
c-section 4 weeks today.

LaidbackinEngland · 22/02/2007 22:03

Mossy - do you remember the song "Carrie" by Europe .... now that really was a TUNE

foxabout2pop · 22/02/2007 22:14

Ellie

Its the meet up thtread : new west London...

She only mentions it in passing but its just very spooky that you had it on your profile, I commented and then she mentioned it at precisely the same time!

I'm not sure where she goes actually (my auntie that is) she lives in Enfield, north London/mddx

I get sleep paralysis, which is linked to narcolepsy I think (if I get very stressed or exhausated, then just as I fall asleep I start to fit and become paralysed).

Does it mean you can't drive if you have narcolepsy?

Have you ever been told what causes it?

I think its pretty rare isn't it?

EllieKwithaHUGEbump · 22/02/2007 22:22

it is rare, tho they think there are more sufferers that don't know they have it IYSWIM. i can drive but my licence is conditional on it not getting any worse, i have yearly check ups and have to renew my licence 3 yearly.
they think it can run in the genes but requires a trigger to become a problem, mine was a really bad bout of flu.

rosylonginglily · 22/02/2007 22:26

That thread is so funny
Let's call our next thread "some of us can have all sorts of cheese and some of us can't"

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 22/02/2007 22:59

Diva, I care not how early they reproduce as long as you're the one looking after the little critters

foxabout2pop · 23/02/2007 06:11

Diva/Kitty -

Woke up at 4.30am and can't get back to sleep .

Ironically, today is the only day this week I could've had a real lie in...

typical huh?

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 23/02/2007 06:37

Morning all!

Foxy, sorry about your lie-in; I too had plans to lie in and pretend to work that I was feeling ill and go in a little later.

And I just couldn't sleep! Grr!

Booboo glad your mw is supportive about your home birth. I think it would be nice to have your dog about, quite comforting. I read somewhere that some people take photos of their pets with them for hospital births actually.

EllieK your photos are lovely!

Rosy, how about, "some of us can have all sorts of cheese but the rest of us are stuck with saveloy"?

OP posts:
EllieKwithaHUGEbump · 23/02/2007 06:57

ooh yes Mossy!
i'm away for the weekend but expect to come back to find you've all been behaving yourselves, will be telling the April girls as much, cos I wouldn't want to miss the fun

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 23/02/2007 07:16

That's a good one Mossy, perhaps the savaloy could be given a bit of a descrpition ?

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 23/02/2007 07:17

Like salty and pink?

rosylonginglily · 23/02/2007 07:22

It definately has to be something cheesy anyway that's for sure

rosylonginglily · 23/02/2007 07:42

milky jugs, {{{{{hugs}}}}}, and all sorts of cheese.
or
Saveloys and savoys
since some of us might be needing some cabbage leaves down our bras.

rosylonginglily · 23/02/2007 08:10

Anyway, stuff that I'm getting all paranoid about thread titles now!

Foxy I hope you can get a nap later or a nice rest anyway. I didn't sleep well either.
And my two little beasties have developed colds now.

LunarSea · 23/02/2007 08:22

Feel c**p this am - but have an important meeting so can't stay off. Might just come home straight after though.

Was ok until about 3 am and then woke up with an aching back. Couldn't get comfortable again and by about 4.30 decided the only thing to do was go and lie in a hot bath - which helped my back but of course meant I still couldn't sleep. And then this morning (tmi warning!) my body seems to have decided to have a purge of anything it can get rid of. Hope this isn't the first sign of something starting! I seriously do NOT want to go into labour while in a meeting with our UK Managaing Director

Piffle · 23/02/2007 09:03

Piffles opener this morning is a beaut...
MY dog has explosive diarrhoaea as if my current state of being wasn't poo enough already.
Dp has happily buggered off to work, leaving me to
wash two dogs covered in you know what
wash their crate and kennel
wash their blankets, kitchen rug and kitchen floor (already done it twice but it still "feel" dirty"
Plus get said dog to the vets, with optimistic hope he can stay there until he "firms" up
He was at vets all day on monday, on a drip and anti biotics and got all clear on tuesday.

It's just grim and I think today I might crack and cry...

36 wks today.

rosylonginglily · 23/02/2007 09:23

Aahh Piffle that is awful!

Lunar I hope you'll be ok at work today, that could be a sign of something, so take it easy!

muppetisacat · 23/02/2007 09:43

Piffle... you have complete empathy... there is little worse than finding that sort of situation first thing in the morning. Has one of the dogs got a bug then... is the other one at risk of catching it?

Lunar... take it easy... back aches and upset stomachs... we all know what they're a sign of!!!

Slap on the wrist for foxy forgetting your anniversary!!! Are you forgiven yet?

Keep fingers crossed for me today as mw can hopefully tell me baby has turned.

38 weeks (boy)

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 23/02/2007 09:56

Good luck today Muppet

Piffle, that's awful, I couldn't deal with that

Lunar, it does sound like it oculd be the start of something

36+2 (boy)

foxabout2pop · 23/02/2007 09:57

Mossy/Rosy/kitty - love the thread titles - why wait until we've got 1,000 posts? Why miss the moment eh?

Piffle - you poor thing - that's the last thing you need isn't it? I imagine washing poo from dogs must be 10 times trickier than washing pooing toddlers and that's hard enough . I hope your day gets better.

Muppet - actually we both forgot our anniversary yesterday. DH bought me a huge bar of chocolate but it wasn't an anniversary present (just to cheer me up as I've been growling him all week). The irony was that my Mum rang to say "Happy Anniversary" and my Dad and Step mum bought us round some flowers !!

I managed to get back to sleep again and have just woken up. DH has just rung to say he's coming home and is going to take DS to the Natural History Museum and then take him to work with him afterwards - meaning I just have DD today

Keep an eye on the news later* My DH is going to the Natural History Museum for a press conference at 11am. A group of Aboriginal elders are taking the museum to court for doing illegal tests on stolen Aboriginal bodies. Should be on the news later hopefully - hopefully with DH and DS in it .

Hope everyone else if not feeling too physically uncomfortable and has a good day today

sazzybee · 23/02/2007 09:58

Oh piffle. How horrible for you
I was freaking out last night because one of the cats brought in a vole/shrew/field mouse thing and let it go in the living room. Cue an hour of me fighting the cats for it. I won in the end and managed to get it in a glass and back outside again. Bloody pets. I might get a goldfish instead
Muppet - I was wondering when you were going to find out about your LO's position. I thought I asked but I might have forgotten . Anyway - I will be thinking of you today and sending you turned baby vibes.
Some of my friends are throwing a baby shower for me this evening so I have a lot of cleaning to do today

foxabout2pop · 23/02/2007 09:59

Mossy - that's typical isn't it, re. the lie in?

Lunar - I got diarreah when my labour began with DS, so it could well be the start.... keep us updated!!

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 23/02/2007 10:05

Foxy, that sounds interesting, I'll have a lokk at thr news after I've done my morning hypno exercises and pelvic floor squeezes with the new gadget I've got.

i agree btw, why don't we change the thread title now?
