Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
1973magpie · 20/02/2007 20:26

Hi, I have started a thread in Childbirth about gestational diabetes and homebirth if anyone is interested

I will attempt to link to it (bear with me this is my first ever link....)

Here we go hope this works

divastropwantstodrop · 20/02/2007 20:32

i havent had any bh's since baby turned to ROA fron LOP.
the consultant said i should have an afternoon nap if the tablets make me drowsy(the mw and i both laughed),and it couldnt be the tablets anyway as they take 48 hrs to get into your system.oh,and it is probably because i am on ad's that i feel drowsy...i did point out that ive been taking the ad's since i was 12 weeks and have never had any side effects from them, and that i had the same side effects last time i was on the methyldopa, but she didnt want to hear it.

i posted a long ranting thread on pregnancy about it to try and get tings off my chest

im quite surprised that weve got to 20th feb and only one of us has had their baby...the rest must all be determined to be piscean..

divastropwantstodrop · 20/02/2007 20:33

'tings'?!

EllieKwithaHUGEbump · 20/02/2007 20:34

hi magpie, i'm good thanks, still counting in weeks, 7 to go! still working in the big orange yard but only 4 weeks left.

foxabout2pop · 20/02/2007 20:41

Well done Magpie - you done it!!

better than my pathetic attempts I hope you get lots of useful advice

Diva - that is really shit isn't it - its not right you should be left to stew away, feeling unwell and scared. Is it worth talking to your GP for a second opinion - (i.e. is there another hospital you can birth in?) or at least seeing a different consultant.

Piffle - good luck with your DP's job interview tomorrow, - sounds like he's the man for it

Rosy I had BHs today after eating pineapple too!!

Chocolate - Didn't see the TV but I saw that baby in the newspaper - really makes one wonder about the whole 24 weeks abortion thing. I'm not anti-abortion BTW but it makes you think doesn't it, seeing that baby at 21 weeks?

Mossy - Watchdog had a brilliant piece on bank charges this evening, did you see it?

General info alert: Anyone who wants to claim their bank charges back from their bank can get free advice from the Financial Ombudsman Service : 0845-080-1800 (office hours). I'm defo gonna do it!!

foxabout2pop · 20/02/2007 20:43

Diva - I'm sure you're right about the engagement 'Ting you know

1/5 is more engaged than 4/5 isn't it?

morocco · 20/02/2007 20:49

hi everyone
no news at all today apart from my kids have been driving me mad - only 3 more days of half term to go
foxy and diva - what is going on with hospitals these days??? itsounds like all their protocols have been written by senior accountants not doctors.
diva, I hope those tablets are at least helping with the bp. how will they know if you have pre eclampsia? are they testing your wee often enough to notice? (bit sceptical now about standard of care on offer).
fox - that policy sounds a complete load of old rubbish - good on you for sticking to your guns

hope you're all doing ok, anyone else got major heartburn now??

foxabout2pop · 20/02/2007 20:52

Marocs - My heartburn is excrutiating. I have to gulp so much Gaviscon in the evenings

I bought some Gaviscon "advance" today which is supposed to be better.

bethoo · 20/02/2007 20:58

hello everyone
well saw doctors on monday and i am being induced on monday 26 february! 6 days and counting.
i had a scare though n sunday as i had severe period like pains and was cnvinced that i was in labour! turns out according to t he doctor the following day that it was most likely the head dropping further down as his head is now fully engaged!
dp is confusing me as he is now being very attentitive! i thnk it was because i said i might be off up north though how long his caring character is here is unpredictable! i think it is becasue i am being quite aloof with him these days and he realises he no longer has that type of control over me and it scares him i do not need him anymore!
well i am cramping up now so good job that i have finallly packed my labour bag though they should say suitcase as one requires alot!
i hope Amie is ok as not seen her for a while

divastropwantstodrop · 20/02/2007 20:58

i have to go back to see the consultant again on thursday.you're right about the accountant thing.

fox-the next nearest consultant-led unit is 42 miles away in lancaster,an hour's train ride away

i think half term should be illegal.theres no point in it.

i thought the engagement ting was t'other way round till i was very bored waiting for an ante-natal appt when expecting dd2 and read my notes from cover to cover.i remember being annoyed cos dd2 was 3/5 engaged and i thought that was alot but it wasnt

divastropwantstodrop · 20/02/2007 21:00

bethoo-x posts.wow, not long now then.your dp will probably decide to start being all nice just as you decide he's an arse and you dont want him anymore

foxabout2pop · 20/02/2007 21:00

Bethoo - that's so exciting!!!!!

Good on ya, re. your DP!

morocco · 20/02/2007 21:02

wow! how exciting.
sorry - I can't remember why are they inducing you?

rosylonginglily · 20/02/2007 21:05

Bethoo, that is so exciting! 6 days Keep that man on his toes, nice to hear he is chasing you...GOOD

Magpie well done with the link, have no useful info for your thread though, I am full of admiration for how you've managed the gd. Hope your homebirth will be possible.

Heartburn not bad, BH very powerfull and have taken me over...I am not going near anymore pineapple til dh comes home now too dangerous I reckon! You go for it Fox, you are ready to pop aren't you?

foxabout2pop · 20/02/2007 21:15

Rosy - I think I'll pop next week - don't feel quite ready yet - need a few more days rest me thinks

bethoo · 20/02/2007 21:18

Diva - tell me about it, i feel it may be too late for reconcilliations! i have seen his true nature and he is fickle. do not get me wrong i love him and adore him but i am sick of being atthe bottom of priorities! will see how it goes anyway as he is the father afterall and deserves benefit of doubt 9for the hundredth time!)
Morocco - being induced becasue of gestational diabetes, they do not like you to go over due date as it increases risk of stillbirth!

Piffle · 20/02/2007 21:26

bethoo how exciting
We will all live vicariously through your birth then

bethoo · 20/02/2007 21:29

Piffle - to be honest i am petrified! i just feel so unprepared for this little person who has been wriggling inside me for so long! quite happy to keep him in there out of harms way!

foxabout2pop · 20/02/2007 21:45

Bethoo - you'll both be fine. At least you've got a few days left to get used to the idea and prepare.

Its so exciting!!

bethoo · 20/02/2007 21:46

i know it is. just imagine the midwives having a go at me for not packing everything. nearly had a breakdown this afternoon packing my bag as i did not know the difference between a babygro and vest. i also have not washed everything!

foxabout2pop · 20/02/2007 21:50

Don't worry - you still have enough time to get sorted.

I'm you know your date!

morocco · 20/02/2007 21:52

I haven't washed anything from last time round, lazy creature that I am

it' so exciting!!! it's such a weird feeling going in to be induced, a bit like going in for planned c section I imagine.
my top tip of today from my doula is to pack an extra bag in case you need to be in for a few days more than expected, then you can ask someone to bring it in for you, rather than going 'the spare pair of pjamas in top left hand drawer'etc and ending up with some slinky number.

eidsvold · 20/02/2007 21:55

bethoo - how exciting. I wish I had waited for my date - since I have known it was the 23rd of March time seems to have suddenly dragged and I am so fed up!!

I had my gp appt the other day and she also wrote in my notes 4/5 but explained that meant the head was down a bit but that I still had 4/5 to go. Not worried as dd2 would pop in and out of my pelvis - each appt would be different.

I had a dream the other night that this babe was 10lb 4oz. Gp says the baby feels a good size - at least as big as dd2 - 9lb 7oz but we'll wait and see. I think I am bigger again than i was with dd2 and I seem to be all baby!!

mossy what a lovely couple.

LaidbackinEngland · 20/02/2007 21:57

Diva - thanks for clarifying the "engagement fractions" - No panic for me then ! Shows how much notice I take of my notes .

Morocco - I remember my DH bringing in a MOST unsuitable pair of knickers to the hospital for me first time round as I had failed to pack a bag. The midwife just raised her eyebrows - not sure if she was disapproving of my knickers or if she was incredulous that my DH thought I might want skimpy underwear on the moment I had given birth !!

bethoo · 20/02/2007 22:09

due to being inducd is ore painful i am hoping that i may go into labour myslef so penty of curries na pineapples and hopefully copious amounts of sex (dp is good at one thing!!)
