Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
1973magpie · 20/02/2007 22:15

Thanks Foxy / Rosy for your messages of support! I have had a few replies on my thread, but unfortunately everyone else so far has had a hospital birth...

Bethoo - how exciting to have a date to meet your lo , are you being induced on you actual due date then? My consultant has mentioned that I may need to be induced (I've got gd too) if I get to my due date without going into labour.

bethoo · 20/02/2007 22:21

Magpie - my due date is actually 2 march but with gd they prefere yu not to go over so iduce at 39.5 weeks instead. i will be 39 weeks and 3 days

shanks313 · 20/02/2007 23:04

Hi everyone

Had the 38 week scan today and baby is now weighing about 6lb.It was confirmed for the 3rd time that its a girl.
Her measurements were all normal and the consultant said that he thinks the baby is perfectly fine but I have to go back for another scan next week if I havent had her.

So it was much better news this time

bethoo · 20/02/2007 23:10

shanks - i have been away and so much to catch up on. glad everything is ok, what was the problem?

shanks313 · 20/02/2007 23:48

Since 32 weeks we have been getting conflictng scans every 2 weeks. We got told that she was about 3lb then she was 5lb,then she wasnt measuring right again. Also the fluid was low but still within normal and the placenta was low.
Now everything is normal although the sonographer didnt put down on her report today if they thought the fluid was too low or not which is why we have the scan next week.
We are starting Operation Labour tomorrow though with fresh pineapple etc

bethoo · 21/02/2007 00:07

shanks - that is good news as it is a worry but babies grow at different rates and some are slower than others so it is reassuring to know all is ok.
there was a discussion about fundal height a few weeks ago and mine is two weeks behind yet on a recent scan he was measuring ok.
so wen is your edd now?

shanks313 · 21/02/2007 00:32

Still 6th March

We are hoping sooner

bethoo · 21/02/2007 00:42

shanks - is this your first too?

shanks313 · 21/02/2007 00:59

Yes its our first and cant wait till shes here now.Everythings all ready.

bethoo · 21/02/2007 01:19

shanks - at least you sound prepared. mine is a little boy. hae you gt a name yet?

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 21/02/2007 06:42

Morning all, meant to come on here and post last night but had a public transport nightmare; the train jolted to a sudden halt because of vandals on the line, and after about ten minutes, wheeled slowly to Wavertree where it stayed for just under an hour. Didn't get home until much later than usual.

I rang mil because I didn't know how long I'd be, so she could go and let the dogs out to have a wee, so there was nothing I could do except sit there and wait. So it wasn't that bad, and it was quite funny actually, one of the train guards had heard me go "ow!" when the train stopped and was really worried in case I'd gone into labour! He was fussing over me and actually asked, "do you need me to call an ambulance?" Lol!

Bethoo can't believe you've a date, that's exciting! I bet you can't wait to meet your lo now. I'm glad your dp is being attentive, keep him on his toes!

Diva for you about the lack of care you're getting. It's ridiculous they're not listening to you. I hope you are getting lots of help at home and are at least able to have a bit of a rest.

Well as usual I will catch up with everyone else when I'm in work. This time next week will be my last day!

rosylonginglily · 21/02/2007 07:22

Hi Shanks, glad your scan went ok! Hope it all goes smoothly for you now.

Moss lol at the poor train guard, you really must be going around looking as if you are on the verge of giving birth Though, the guy probably watches too many movies...you know the way when a plane or train breaks down there's always a woman in labour he probably wanted to run around asking was there a doctor on board...

foxabout2pop · 21/02/2007 08:04

Shanks that's great news!! I'm due 3 March so we may give birth within a few days of each other!! Think I might start on the pineapple too this weekend

Mossy - glad your journey home wasn't too stressful - you must be getting very tired by now. Everyone is being nice to you atm aren't they? That's brill - and just 1 week to go at work

Laidback - LOL at the knickers - at least you still own some decent ones. I'm a confirmed big pants girl now - its probably the only good thing about getting old!!!

I was very flattered when someone wrote on my leaving card "looking forward to seeing you back in a size 10!" They must have been joking, as I haven't been a size 10 for about 8 years!

BTW when I had my scan on Monday, they said the baby is already about 9lbs!!!!!! - though they did qualify that by saying that the scan/weight thing is 20% inaccurate! DS was 8.6lbs when born, DD was 8.3lbs.

Had another mega row with DH last night. He seems to be being deliberately unhelpful and obtuse just when I need him to be supportive and in charge

He just doesn't seem to be (as someone else put it) on the same continent as me atm

rosylonginglily · 21/02/2007 08:20

Yes my dh is on a different continent in every sense. The trick is to expect nothing and then you are seldom disappointed
Anyway you have my sympathy Fox it sounds very stressful for you with your dh at the moment.

rosylonginglily · 21/02/2007 08:37

Foxy on thinking it through, my very wise advice would be to try pressing different buttons on your man...ie shouting at him and being all strong with him will press his little boy buttons...you need to access his 'he-man' programme. Try acting helpless and girly see if that works Seriously I think that's my methods, laidback would have a field day with me!

foxabout2pop · 21/02/2007 09:03

Rosy

eeerrm I don't know if I have a girly button anymore. I did sob rather loudly last night though, as that usually improves things somewhat, in that he then realises I am genuinely upset rather than just being a "nag" (his words).

I asked him to post a letter and put a cheque in for me today and I note he has taken the correct items with him this morning, so that's a good sign. (i.e. hasn't forgotten to do it) He's also supposed to be getting a mobile phone today so I can contact him.

TBH the only button of his I want to press atm is the "delete" button!

rosylonginglily · 21/02/2007 09:04
Grin
Piffle · 21/02/2007 09:17

Men do seem to be a bit spare part like atm and to be honest aside from helping with housework and cooking and childcare they are prett useless in the first few wks after the birth.
Mine was away last night at his interview and I swear I had the deepest sleep I've had for months

Now I feel disloyal as I normally cannot sleep when he's away...

Wow all these babies about to suddenly appear

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 21/02/2007 09:24

Shanks glad your scan went well!

Morocco, I got 2x300 mls bottles Gaviscon Advance on prescription last Thursday and I have already gone through one of them! I have discovered though that prevention is better than cure; I swig some gaviscon straight after eating / drinking anything and then I find the heartburn is not so bad.

Kiwi / Booboo of your haircuts! My hair is trying to grow atm, used to be really short, this time last year it was almost a Britney! In fact if you look on my photos you can see what it was like about five months ago. So I can't get anything fancy done to it until it's grown to a decent enough length; for now I just keep getting trims!

Magpie no advice but good luck.

Foxy / Rosy lol at he-man buttons. I sometimes get away with using sales techniques on my dh, e.g. make sure I sell him the benefits to him of doing what I ask, saying "you need to..." rather than "I need you to...", closing him down about specifics, that sort of thing.

However I shot myself in the foot a few years back; dh had a very, very brief stint in recruitment (lasted a week) so I taught him a load of sales tricks to help, and now he gives me a look and says, "Mossy don't think I don't know what you're doing!"

OP posts:
Piffle · 21/02/2007 09:29

at heartburn for some of you I've had one or two very minor episodes of indigestion/heartburn type things easily gone with gaviscon/remegel (except once when nothing would touch it but that did turn out to be my appendix d'oh

Mossy, you must be SOOO looking forward to giving up work finally!

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 21/02/2007 09:34

Piffle you're not kidding! My thought for the day is, "this time next week will be my last day". Aaaand relax!

But to continue the catalogue of "nice things", this morning one of my neighbours saw me walking to the train station from his car, and as he had to go through Liverpool to get to his work, drove me all the way into the city centre!

OP posts:
rosylonginglily · 21/02/2007 09:53

Hey mossy you've got new stuff on your profile! Don't you look loverly. Eventually I shall fix my profile. I need a digital camera, I've ordered a kiddie one for 7.99 from vertbaudet, thought I might be able to work it.

muppetisacat · 21/02/2007 09:56

Bethoo - how exciting you'll probably be next... although at the rate you ladies seem to be devouring pineapples... maybe not! I'm avoiding all trace of pineapple until friday when hopefully the mw could confirm babe has turned.

Diva I'm not suprised you're with your health team. How do they know the ad's aren't reacting with the bp tablets and that could be causing your symptoms? How often are you having your wee tested?

Foxy do you think your dp will sort himself out once baby arrives? I think the more children we have the less attentive our partners get because they assume we will cope because we've been through it all b4. I also find that the tears thing is sometimes the only way to let him know i'm truly upset and not just fussing.

Rosy did your dh make it safely to Lahore?

Mossy I think you are getting my share of nice people up there because I've had a morning of nasty types... men in vans cutting me up, grumpy schoolteachers in playground, rude delivery man who had a go at me for having a skip in the driveway which meant he had to park on road . Could you send some of your crew down here to restore my faith?

Morning to everyone else... still no news from Amie or Sazzybee is there?

37+5 (boy)

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 21/02/2007 10:00

Aw thanks Rosy - that was before I got HUGE!

I don't have a digital camera but now with the NatWest victory we are deffo gonna buy one for when lo arrives. If I know me I'm gonna take loads of photos.

When we first got Ziggy, about six years ago now, I took two 24-pic films worth of photos of him. I remember showing it to dh. "And here's Ziggy sitting in the back garden." "And here's Ziggy sitting in the back garden turned slightly to the left." "And here's Ziggy sitting in the back garden with his eyes closed." Ad nauseum.

And similarly with Arthur and Merlin (although I don't think I was quite that bad, was a little older then!). If I do that with the pets... I'm going to go picture crazy with a baby!!!

Muppet I don't want to steal your nice people! Actually I did get told off on the train the other morning for having my ipod too loud by a narky woman who at the top of her voice said, "do you know everyone can hear that?" in front of everyone.

I was a bit as I didn't realise it was that loud and I'm sure not everyone wants to listen to Cypress Hill lol but at the same time she could have asked me nicely!
