Wow can't believe I'm here 😁 I had a look, but couldn't see any other threads. Hopefully I won't be alone.

This will be our second baby. DS is 3.... 4 in january. EDD should be about 2nd August I think.

Hope I'm not alone for too long!

I have my midwife appointment on the 4th, which feels like ages away, has anyone had theirs yet? What to expect? Also...did the midwife tell you the same due date based on LMP, I totally think mine is going to be later as I had an ultrasound on day 14 and there was no egg visible at all! So that shouldn't count?

Writerwannabe83 · 20/12/2016 18:58

Jealous of all the talk about midwife appointments Smile

I phoned my GP surgery to ask about seeing the midwife and I'm not allowed to see one unless I've had my pregnancy confirmed by a doctor first Angry And like most surgeries these days I've been told they can't pre-book any GP appointments so I've just got to ring in each morning and see if there's an appointment available. It's really frustrated me because God knows when I'm actually going to be able to get an appointment because my surgery is massively overloaded and unless you call within ten minutes of the surgery being open, and even then all you get is the engaged tone, all the appointments are gone.

Fattycowagain · 20/12/2016 19:06

TMI, they will go by last period. Because even if you know when you have ovulated, you still don't know when conception was! That depends on when the sperm reached the egg...
For now they'll just put a date based on LMP and then with your 12 week scan, they will measure the baby and calculate your due date based on that.

TMI26 · 20/12/2016 19:15

Writer that's a pain, my GP told me there was no need to book as home pregnancy test are very accurate. fatty the anticipation is killing me, 2 of my best friends are getting married in August so I want to know whether I will be able to attend or not :/

ThatsALovelyBush · 20/12/2016 19:19

I spoke to soon - the nausea has hit me this afternoon, just been stroppy to DH on the phone, I'm tired and want to go to bed!

I've told my parents, PIL and two close friends - mostly people I'd want to know if something did happen.

On the subject of which - is anyone else anxious when they go to the loo in case they're bleeding? My sister had a miscarriage at 5 weeks and I'm going to spend the next few weeks being ridiculously nervous

writer - my Doctors surgery is completely the opposite and they're absolutely lovely. I can book appointments in advance, get text reminders for appointments and even the receptionists are quite nice!

Fieldsandgrasses · 20/12/2016 19:59

Cocochops, agree!

sandsandwiches · 20/12/2016 20:09

How annoying writer my last GP you could self refer but current GP wanted to see me in person (seemed a bit pointless they didn't really do anything but was able to choose where to book). If you know where you want to book might be worth calling direct to see if you can self refer. I got my booking in in post for 5th...

Also saw GP about n&v today & she was lovely - told me I needed to look after myself better and signed me off work for a week... already feel a bit better after sleeping 3 hours again this afternoon Blush and trying not to feel guilty about work. Need to think of baby and have scan tomorrow so fingers crossed all ok!

TMI26 · 20/12/2016 20:18

Bush - absolutely I'm petrified something will go wrong, I know this is not the place to share but one of my colleagues Miscarried, she didn't know until her scan and it got me really tense.

TMI26 · 20/12/2016 20:18

But oooooosaaaaa most pregnancies are normal right? :)

MrsG280516 · 20/12/2016 20:20

That's terrible Writer that could take you ages. My GP is similar but it's usually easy to get an appointment for the next few days if you call up when they open. It does take a few tries to get through to reception though. Then when I did see the GP they didn't even confirm the pregnancy, totally pointless.

Stormcloud10 · 20/12/2016 20:23

I'm waiting on the midwife calling me on Thursday, I had abnormal cells and had to have part of my cervix removed so I've got to have a stitch put in but I'm not sure at what stage they do this. They don't normally see you until around 8 weeks (I'm 4.2ish) but I don't want to leave it too long!

I'm not nauseous yet but I did have a total breakdown earlier because I was tired and nobody would let me out at junction and then to top it off a sad song came on. I cried complete with ugly cry face and then cried again telling DH and DM why I was crying much to their amusement!

FlashAaaah · 20/12/2016 20:47

Hi all! Jumping in if that's ok. Got a BFP last week on Thursday and by my calculations due date would be 24th August so still very early on.

I have a 2yo DS already and with that pregnancy I was nauseous until about 22 weeks but so far I'm feeling ok. I'm really hoping it stays away this time. I have had terrible rage though. Poor DH is bearing the brunt of most of it.

I think we're going to tell our parents over Christmas. They will definitely suss us anyway if I'm not drinking!

Can I join the FB group too? The FB group from the mumsnet antenatal group I was on with my son was a godsend!

SociallyAcceptableCookie · 20/12/2016 20:52

Heather I'm glad you've had a good day. I've been given cyclizine. I still feel a bit sick but was able to eat a reasonable lunch and dinner including drinks so I definitely feel better. I'll be able to go to work tomorrow.

lynseyc83 · 20/12/2016 21:19

I've got my appointment with my consultant booked 5 Jan
And my midwife on the 12th
Will
Feel relieved when I've seen the consultant

Largemelons · 20/12/2016 22:23

Hi guys!
I'm still lurking. 7 weeks today! Had a tiny bleed 8 days ago and convinced myself it was another mc so left all my groups etc Blush
Had nothing since and all my usual symptoms are here so feeling like it's ok. This is my 10th pregnancy so I'm kind of a pro Wink. Didn't bother asking for an early scan or anything, I feel like they're sometimes more worrying than reassuring before 8 weeks anyway.
Haven't called midwife yet either. Think I'll wait until after Christmas when I am less frazzled. I'm still at work until tomorrow then I have 5 children's stockings to sort out!
I say children... my eldest are 20 and 18 but still like a Christmas stocking Xmas Grin
One thing that's bothering me. I'm absolutely massive. I'm not over eating as I'm nauseous a lot but my stomach is so big I feel quite self conscious.
I'm quite fit and into weight training but I've bloated up so big that I'm having to wear floaty dresses and leggings to work!
Anyone else? I guess at least I have Christmas bloat to blame it on!

OkyDoke · 20/12/2016 22:29

Thanks ladies, I think im going to cave. Trying to work out how i can get them alone, two younger sisters live at home and id like to tell them a bit late. Dont think it can be done!

Writerwannabe83 · 20/12/2016 22:33

The other problem I have with needing to see the GP before seeing the MW is that I have to be under Consultant Led Care due to having two chronic health conditions and I need the MW to do this as soon as possible really.

When I was pregnant with DS (registered at the same surgery that I am now) I didn't have to see a GP first, I just spoke to the midwife on the phone and dealt with her direct. By the time I got to my Booking In appointment she had already done my referral and she had booked my first Consultant appointment and 12 week scan as a joint one. Everything is going to be so delayed because of this change to their system.

I may just pop into the surgery and speak to the receptionists face to face and explain that I need to be given an appointment as my referral can't really wait until I happen to get a GP slot by chance. I may just see if the GP will do the referral for me without having seen me as at least then the ball is rolling.

The MW is based at the GP surgery so I can't self refer as it were as their policy is the pregnancy has to be confirmed by a GP first.

It's so frustrating.

On a more positive note me and DH are booking an early scan for the 6th of January when I will be about 8+1 so we would hope to see a reassuring heartbeat.

On my CB Digital tests I've gone from the "1-2 weeks" display to the "3+ weeks" display in only 9 days so that has to be a good sign!!

Fattycowagain · 21/12/2016 07:56

OkyDoke, maybe you can sent your younger sister for an errand? I don't know how old they are, but maybe you can pretend to have forgotten to post a letter and ask them to do it? That will get them out of the house for a little while, so you can tell the people you want to tell?

TMI26 · 21/12/2016 08:31

Writer, explain yto u have a chronic problem to the receptionist, they may be more receptive, in also very worried...I have thyroid issues and have been told most women during pregnancy increase the dose as there is a risk of mc, when I tried explaining this to the gp he was quite dismissive, hanging on until the fourth (2weeks to go!) I will be 8weeks from LMP so hopefully she will book in a scan very quickly!

OkyDoke · 21/12/2016 08:55

They're 17 and 23... and my other sister, 25 is up from her home for an early Christmas. I'll keep thinking! I'm hoping they are both at work this evening, that would solve it.

thisismee · 21/12/2016 09:12

Morning everyone!
I've got my booking in midwife appointment today. Feel like complete rubbish. I was up in the night to be sick and awful stomach. Sad

I feel like I am so behind with Christmas stuff as I haven't had the energy to get things done .

Time feels like it's standing still I am 8 weeks today, but it seems such a long way to go until the 12 week scan!

Sorry for the moan! I hope everyone else is feeling ok.

Sparklyuggs · 21/12/2016 09:31

Hi everyone,

Lovely to see so many more people on here and join us on FB too!

Fields look at TAMBA my mum said they were amazing at twin advice.

I'm telling my aunt tomorrow and DH has told some of his friends, he was much happier to tell after we saw the heartbeat and I got past 8w as those combined reduce the miscarriage odds significantly. I'm not superstitious though and constant nausea and vomiting from 4w have made it hard to keep it a secret.

Is anyone else thinking of having the harmony test or another NIPT? I'm tempted to but it's much cheaper where I live than London which makes it easier-£250 V £500.

Heatherbaby · 21/12/2016 09:35

thisisme you sound exactly like me yesterday. Don't worry about the moan.

Being sick sucks so bad. I totally feel for you. On the positive side I was feeling very down about it all until my own midwife appt yesterday. The appt makes it all real and did boost my spirits a little!

I have no advice regarding sickness and no energy except to say I did manage to get an anti sickness prescription at the Dr yesterday which I pick up later today.

After throwing up as soon as I got out of bed today I'm currently at my desk feeling queasy and sipping water to quell the nausea.

What a terrible time... things will get better soon and we will remember these days fondly.

Have fun at your appt today. Hope everyone else is well xx

Brainfried1986 · 21/12/2016 09:53

I totally agree thisisme - meant to spend yesterday and today tidying the house in prep for Christmas, but so far have managed 1 laundry load and no tidying...
Not looking forward to next 24hrs - staying away with a friend while I work away from home which means someone may witness my feeble morning self (the desperate struggle to eat something before I feel to sick to do it). May end up telling them but will just see what happens!
Fingers crossed today is a little more productive than yesterday & that I find some clothes to fit around my uncomfortably bloated middle - spent yesterday walking around with my jeans undone to avoid constant discomfort!

Good luck with today everyone - especially all you sickness sufferers x

Heatherbaby · 21/12/2016 09:57

thisisme and brainfried my housework is so behind right now I'm wondering how preg ladies with other kids do it!! I could not look after a child right now!
