We maxed out our last thread before starting a new one.
I'm not savvy like kitkat so can't post our list either! Hopefully there will be some ba's before this thread is completed.

Fingers crossed grapefruit that's how mine was last night!
When I phoned birthing unit she said "do you feel like you need to come in, if you're not doing a lot we'll send you home"
I thought then 'Will you eff!' I was expecting to turn up and be told I was only 3cm and to bugger off 😁

Ooooo fingers crossed grapefruit.

Labour coming was just waters breaking for me. No flipping contractions until induced. But I had felt off it. Period pains, back ache, sickness and lots of pooing! He he Grin

I was getting fed up of all the 'any news' texts. Funny thing was they were coming from mothers. You think they would know better.

Nuttypops · 04/12/2016 07:27

Congratulations on the new babies, so lovely to see!

How are you all getting on with sleep with the new arrivals?

Due date here today, keep thinking something is happening with back ache etc but it is gone by the morning. Fed up!

Nojo82 · 04/12/2016 07:59

Started getting mild sharp pains yesterday evening. They kept stopping and starting so put it down to braxton hicks. Had them during the night along with a lot of cramping pains. Still having the cramps! Could this be the start?

Lovewatchingrainfall · 04/12/2016 08:16

Sounds positive nojo. Let's hope they carry on.

Bigfam · 04/12/2016 08:33

Fingers crossed nojo sounds good though Grin

Nojo I've been like this in the evenings since about Wednesday and still nothing. Stupid braxton hicks!

Hope its something more promising for you!

Fizzyjo · 04/12/2016 08:52

Can I ask those who have had their babies and what those who haven't are planning about ensuring baby is warm enough over night etc once home. It's causing me most worry - have you got your heating on all day/night and just controlled with a thermostat? If not how are you monitoring temp etc
I have a groegg which I plan to set up soon before baby arrives to see what temp the room is going down to at night. I will follow the instructions advised i.e. Vest, baby grow then a normal sheet and then the cellular blankets etc but am worried the temp drops during the night and baby will get cold and whether I will need to put heating on over night!? Any advice from anyone!!! Thank you.

Thisisbonkers · 04/12/2016 09:36

Due date here. No niggles Sad i was a bit achy last night (although I was out partying!) but nothing this morning.

SolomanDaisy · 04/12/2016 09:52

Wow, congratulations on all the beautiful new babies!

south, my DD was also sleeping through tube feeds etc two weeks ago, but she's now feeding on demand! I hope this stage goes quickly for you.

fizzy, I use a grothermometer and find DD gets a bit chilly if I stick to their recommendations. I follow the Dutch recommendation to take her temp frequently, so have a pretty good idea of when she's warm enough! We leave the heating on low, then I put a hat on her if she starts to get chilly and add a baby bed warmer if she's really cold.

Popskipiekin · 04/12/2016 09:55

Fizzyjo we will be doing what we did for DS1: we have bought a small thermostat-controlled oil heater (a delonghi nano if you're interested!) for baby's room so can have that operating independently of main central heating, ie house switched off at night but baby's room staying at set temp all night.

Nojo82 · 04/12/2016 10:00

Oh dont say that turnips. Was hoping to get somewhere. But ive got a weird feeling thats something is happening. Could be weeks yet tho. Ive also got an urge to clean lol. Cramps have now dyed down.

Fizzyjo · 04/12/2016 10:10

Thanks for the advice. Baby will be in our room for a while I suspect so hopefully we will generate a bit of heat but useful suggestions above (I don't know how to add people's names sorry).
I haven't actually purchased a baby thermometer yet so maybe that's a good idea - I was told to feel down their chest as a guide on their temp and not their head or limbs.
I think I will monitor the temp of the room as a guide before baby arrives and see how cold the room gets. I think I will have to put the heating on more as we are the kind of people that sit in blankets and hot water bottles so we don't have to have the heating on all the time. Haha. I suspect that will change when I'm sat around all day and it's super cold.

SouthDownsSunshine · 04/12/2016 10:34

fizzy we have a thermometer in the cot, plus baby has lots of blankets on top. She struggled to maintain her temperature even in the sweltering hot baby unit, so we're keeping her hot. We had the heating on last night, but I think tonight we'll just have the plug in heater on in our bedroom. We don't put a hat on her in the house, on the advice of the nurses, so she doesn't overheat.

Solomon she's got noticeably more tired the last 24 hours. I suspect her heart is struggling a bit more.

Minispringroll · 04/12/2016 10:38

Congratulations, everyone! Flowers More babies! I'm starting to feel rather jealous. 39 weeks today and he doesn't appear to be wanting to vacate. To be fair, it's freezing outside...although I would have hoped the glorious sunshine and blue skies would have tempted him out. Grin

Fizz Our heating is controlled throughout the house but it's taken me years to convince DH not to allow it to get too cold (costs way more to heat up a cold house than maintaining a steady temperature). We've got it set to 16 degrees at night - up from 14 degrees before I got pregnant - which means the heating automatically turns back on if it drops below that. The baby will be in our room and in a sleepsuit and sleeping bag. Should he get cold, he'll simply get a warmer sleeping bag.

39 weeks here too mini really struggling with painful BH over the last couple of days and cannot wait for section on Tuesday although I'm a bit concerned he's going to try and make an appearance earlier!!

Batch cooking today and waiting for my parents to arrive as section was meant to be tomorrow!

Minispringroll · 04/12/2016 13:31

Dartmoor Good luck for Tuesday. Grin My midwife doesn't see any reason for me to have any intervention. Pregnancy so far has been textbook (considering how long it's taken to get there in the first place). She thought I was kidding when we did the birth plan and I mentioned that I'd like to be given a GA and be woken once he's out. Confused I wasn't. Grin Got lots of BH as well and he's squirming like mad, which is really not comfortable. I have no clue what proper contractions are meant to feel like, have had BH since about 14 weeks and I'm slightly worried that I'll miss something. We are a bit over an hour from the hospital...Hmm

goinggrey1978 · 04/12/2016 14:05

Minispringroll, i know what you mean, i've had these period type pains and bad back ache since last friday, sometimes they make me go ouch, they come and go as well, i've no idea if they are practise contractions, but they don't feel like braxton hicks at all, as they were just my belly feeling really tight, it's my first baby too, so i've no idea what to expect, luckily i'm due for my 2nd sweep tomorrow so hopefully that'll work and i won't have to be induced and have my waters broken! plus bubble is incredibly active and i've also waited a long time to become pregnant too!

Bigfam · 04/12/2016 14:12

Hope tomorrow's sweep works for you goinggrey fingers crossed!

goinggrey1978 · 04/12/2016 14:21

Bigfam, ahh thanks, i'm actually a little nervous about tomorrow, i've no idea why though!! i had a sweep last monday, but maybe it's because i didn't know i was having one last week!! how's you and your new baby girl doing??

Popskipiekin · 04/12/2016 14:42

Another slightly fed up 39 weeker here! DH "helpfully" pointed out we had had DS1 a week already by this stage. I'm well aware of that!! Angry Actually more than happy to still be pregnant in theory, just concerned he seems so comfy that he won't even be out by Christmas! And I want a lot of sherry Xmas Grin
Good luck for next week Dartmoor and goinggrey.

Bigfam · 04/12/2016 15:39

We are both really well thanks. Here she is with her 'big sister' Josie (who I'm still referring to as the baby!)

Congratulations on all the new arrivals! I forgot to update that baby arrived on Tuesday by elective csection and she is doing well. We were discharged on Wednesday and are slowly adjusting!

She's nocturnal and sleeps all day, waking every 3 hours for a feed, then wakes almost hourly at night for a feed Shock. I wish I'd got a co sleeper cot now because poor DH has to lift her out for me as I struggle.

I do wish I hadn't had a csection to be honest.. first birth was difficult but I think recovering from a csection is tougher than I thought it would be.

StubbleTurnips · 04/12/2016 17:15

Fizz I found this tough with DD, and it took us a very long time years to realise that heat wise she only sleeps well in colder temps. We have gro-thermometers in each room as they come free with grobags. We'll have the heating on the same, morning and evening only. Sleepsuit, vest, nappies and grobag for this one. we fell into the trap of heating our house a la a maternity ward for DD hotter than hell and the midwife was not impressed!

Tip it's not too late to nab a Cosleeper, honestly I think it'll be a god send.

Any movement nojo?

Nojo82 · 04/12/2016 17:19

No turnips. Everything stopped then anout 1pm started again with very sharp regular pains. Enough to stop me doing anything, just had to stand til they passed. Had that for about an hour then stopped again.. argh!! So annoying!
