We maxed out our last thread before starting a new one.
I'm not savvy like kitkat so can't post our list either! Hopefully there will be some ba's before this thread is completed.

Whilst I'm here I'll add that the next2me crib and purflo nest (like the sleepyhead bit much more reasonably priced) are both bloody good buys as well! Grin

I'm going to look at the next2me crib. We've had a horrendous first night home in the Moses basket. Doesn't help that I'm pretty incapacitated.so can't leap up and do anything.

DartmoorDoughnut · 15/12/2016 07:20

I really want a co-sleeper but our crib is perfectly adequate and knowing how much use we got out of it last time I can't justify spending the same again in case it doesn't get used either! So far we're co-sleeping in our bed in any case with DS1 one side of me and DS2 the other and DH has DS1's bed - a very comfortable double with no one shouting at him, needing a nappy change or kicking him Envy Grin

Congrats on the new arrivals! SO many gorgeous December bambinos Grin and please take it easy bonkers 60hrs?!

Scariest third trimester symptoms ever last night, I kept waking up with what felt like collapsed oesophagus and I couldn't breathe! This happened intermittently all night, MW said that I tustve rolled onto my back and trapped my blood vessels. Terrified to fall asleep now.

Glad it's daylight now and each day is closer to not being pregnant anymore.

StubbleTurnips · 15/12/2016 09:46

I saw the watchdog thing bigfam had already decided against TTPP and that made my mind up really. I just keep a cooled bottle of boiled water in the fridge and our kettle has a 20sec boil function on it so I'd be wasting money anyway. I learnt my lesson about cosleeper a last time after 5 types of crib or Moses baskets

bumble funny you should say that, in the evenings I keep getting a pressure in my throat, like I can't breathe.

Lovewatchingrainfall · 15/12/2016 11:49

Just had my 3rd sweep and the me has said there is no change from the other two :-( has booked me in for another one on Tuesday. Starting to feel like this baby is never leaving.
Have an induce date of Christmas Day if baby has not arrived. Feeling a little bit disappointed that there is no change.

Hope everyone else is okay.

StubbleTurnips · 15/12/2016 12:02

Ah love that sounds tough! Start making plans and then they're sure to appear.

stripeyorangesocks71 · 15/12/2016 12:17

I'm not due until this Sunday but my baba seems to be having more than enough fun partying in my tummy :/

Minispringroll · 15/12/2016 12:38

Stubble If it's 40+12, it'll be 23rd December...the day everybody will be flying over. They won't be here until late at night but I don't think I'd be in a state to deal with my mum complaining the next day that she wouldn't be allowed on the ward until later in the day. (They only allow partners and own children in for most of the day...) Besides, I don't want to be in hospital at Christmas. Sad The 24th is the important day in Germany,...

Have just been to the supermarket with DH. I wanted some sausages wrapped in bacon, which I only ever eat around Christmas time. He dragged me past and said we've got sausages... Shock True, we've got four sausages in the freezer. None of them have bacon around them and we don't have bacon! Angry I nearly burst into tears in the middle of the supermarket. Blush He rushed back to the aisle to get them. There should be a law that you don't tell your wife not to have certain foods when she's 40+4 (or pregnant in general)...

Popskipiekin · 15/12/2016 13:41

mini pigs in blankets are an absolute Christmas must!! How could he?? Glad you got them!
Just had my first sweep and midwife not very encouraging as cervix not favourable. They're too busy to do one on Saturday :( so have to wait till Sunday when I'll be 41 weeks for the next attempt.

Bigfam · 15/12/2016 14:03

I think we'll forego any proper meat 🍖 this year and opt for 20 pigs in blankets each 😀

We have the next 2me and the sleepyhead, but DD is too small for the sleepyhead! She also like me right next to her.

Congratulations to all the new babies. I think bonkers will get the thread record for longest labour, I hope you're getting some rest.

Nuttypops · 15/12/2016 18:27

Congratulations on all of the new arrivals!

How is everyone getting on with the little ones sleeping? DS is seriously not keen on his co-sleeper despite trying all the tricks that worked with DD so he has been co-sleeping with us which I hate as I like my space in bed but at least we get some sleep that way. He is only a week old today so still early days but hoping he decides he likes it soon!

Thisisbonkers · 15/12/2016 18:39

I hope I do get the longest labour award, I'd hate for anyone to have to go through that.

Baby blues have kicked in 😥 Last night, first at home, was so, so hard. Friends and midwife have been great, lots of support and advice. I just hope all three of us get a better night's sleep.

Popskipiekin · 15/12/2016 20:44

Aww bonkers Flowers and lots and lots of Cake for you. Hopefully baby blues shouldn't last too long. It's horrid. My DH is still scarred by the night it kicked in for me: he was trying to soothe an inconsolable DS downstairs but could hear me sobbing my heart out upstairs! Not looking forward to it this time at all.

StubbleTurnips · 15/12/2016 20:50

Ah bonkers just do what you need too to get through it, and don't be afraid to ask for help Flowers

duxb · 15/12/2016 20:59

Hi all, hope all are well.

Baby still won't go down at night. Bought a sleepyhead and it seems to be loved however the midwife today advised they aren't reccomended for night time sleeping and they increase the risk of SIDS (it's in a snuzpod being used as a standalone crib if that matters). Does anyone have one and use it for independent sleeping at night? I'd read amazing things about them for babies that previously would only settle when being held etc but am an already frantic FTM.

Bfeeding seems okay but we have a lazy baby who wants to be on breast or in my arms all night but isn't making too much effort to fill her belly. I've had about 15 hours sleep since she was born and last night my husband, in seeing me almost collapse with lack of energy gave her about 2oz formula and she went in her crib for 2 hours. I've expressed throughout today, outside of feeding her and hopefully if she can have a bottle and it encourages her to sleep in her snuzpod then I'll be like a new woman.

If this doesn't work then we may need to look at mixed feeding until things settle. I can't function off so little sleep. Major respect for all breast feeding mums out there - particularly with lazy babies.

Popskipiekin · 15/12/2016 21:17

duxb we found sleepyhead a godsend first time round and will be using again. Nobody mentioned a SIDS risk.
I found I needed to "top up" DS every night to begin with and would use a bottle of expressed milk, or formula if I didn't have enough. I think do whatever you need to do to get through this! I do like the expression "fed is best". DS was almost exclusively breastfed and tbh has got every bug and ear infection going so I'm not too sure about its efficacy in preventing illness!

StubbleTurnips · 15/12/2016 21:51

dux DD was like that feeding, we started mixed feeding about 4 weeks in just so I could rest and it worked well for us. Although the professional advice on mix feeding from HV was bloody awful.
I was set on a sleepyhead but decided against after DH said about the SIDS risk with them, I'd rather cosleep safely but it's all personal choice.

The first few weeks are all about surviving!

Bigfam · 15/12/2016 22:29

I'm using the purflo nest inside the sleepyhead duxb although I wouldn't want to advise someone else to do it, it works for the baby. I don't feel like I could co-sleep comfortably this time around, maybe because Dd3 is still in my bed.

stripeyorangesocks71 · 15/12/2016 22:53

I've been debating the Sleepyhead for daytime naps for baby. Still in two minds and as he isn't here yet I don't know if he will be too big for one (yes I'm daft). What do you all think?

We have the next2me crib for night time sleep attached to our bed already as wanted baby to have his own space. Upon telling the HV we had a next2me crib for the baby, she informed me that we couldn't have the side down at all even when attached to the bed. I think the HV tell you whatever they think is correct. What is the point of me having a next2me crib if I can't have the side down?!

stripeyorangesocks71 · 15/12/2016 22:57

Duxb the FAQs seem to say it's ok to use with crib? www.sleepyheadofsweden.com/faq/

TinyTickler · 16/12/2016 02:08

Full on insomnia here. Keep wishing the baby would arrive because I'll get some sleep then. Right? That's how this works isn't it?' Confused

Bumbleclat · 16/12/2016 02:13

tiny same here, been like this for months now. MW said to me that just body getting us used to small intense bursts of sleep for when baby's here.
I hope you get some soon, I just get up and about now TV, hot tea etc rather than tossing and turning in bed.

Bigfam · 16/12/2016 02:19

My hv was well impressed when she saw the next2me, so I think you're right stripey different people advise different things.
Grin I wish that were the way tiny although obviously, it's much nicer being woken by a newborn than because you've become stuck on your back and can't seem to get up..
