Why am I awake when everyone else is asleep

On the cold front I've just put Vicks on my throat, the warmth seems to have helped ease the soreness a bit, can't be bothered to go downstairs for paracetamol

I found cutting ginger root and lemons into massive cups of boiling water with honey, quite soothing but yeah it's a horrible cold, one night I was coughing so much I got in a bit of a panic about breathing.

Hopefully this means we'll be immune when our babies get here.

Hello wide awake club

Cold has awoken DD who's spent the past hour crying cos she can't breathe through her nose, poor thing. Mine seems to have migrated to awful earache so I can't sleep.

Hope those feeling ill get some relief today .

I just had a grrrr moment at an article someone shared on fb of a woman still kick box training at 39 weeks. How bloody lovely. Good for her. And then another of an old article about a newsreader who went into labour on air (she didn't, it was typical tabloid reporting) and all the comments saying they all worked up until their due date and why not.

I couldn't cope with work after 33 weeks, have been on crutches since 31 weeks, and very limited in what I can do since 35 weeks. I wish there was more balance - ie it's not a case of 'wow, didn't these women do well?!' and more a case of 'wow, weren't these women lucky to have such an easy pregnancy that allowed them to carry on?!'

It would really bug you those stories barking if im honest I couldnt cope at all during my pregnancy at work. It was a relief that the doc signed me off at 25 weeks. But there are others i work with can do more but thats them. Everyone is different, everyone has different complaints during pregnancy. The girls ive worked with and have worked til the near end admitted that they didnt feel pregnant. No symptoms etc. Whereas i suffered with everything..

I suspect if I tried to kickbox my pelvis would come apart Possibly literally.

I don't remember the first pregnancy being so bad in terms of symptoms (although the early nausea was worse) so even from pregnancy to pregnancy with the same mum there's wide variation.

First day of mat leave! and I'm at a bit of a loss. I want to do all the things but I'm so tired (neighbour was moving furniture and banging around til gone 1am, heavy rain, couldn't sleep) and my SPD means cleaning is bloody difficult. DS does basically need a new wardrobe though as I've noticed all his trousers and tops are getting too small so it might be an internet shopping morning.

I think if you've had an easy pregnancy it's quite difficult to imagine what a normal one is like! With my first I had bad SPD, but that was it. No sickness, no tiredness, no heartburn, no insomnia. I did yoga every day, aqua natal every week and swimming at least once a week. I had no clue. This pregnancy really taught me a lesson, from feeling sick before I missed my period onwards. It's all just luck and the Instagram kick boxers may have a totally different experience next time.

Congrats Esk! 39 weeks today, I have no signs yet but no eviction orders are being issued just yet as we're moving into our almost finished house.

Just need to keep my blood pressure down as spent Saturday being assessed after a serious spike.

1st day of mat leave and I'm bored 😄 It doesn't help that I'm house bound with a plasterer in, and then the health visitor is coming. I was hoping to get out in between.

Washed more new baby stuff I've been given but forgot all the socks. I need to hoover downstairs but no point yet until the plasterer is done. And then recombobulate the living room. So sat in the dining room with a cup of tea and a biscuit (or five).

I'm literally just about to run out of gaviscon but can't be bothered to buy another bottle... please hurry baby.
Glad (but also sorry) to hear our house isn't the only one under attack by colds and coughs. Dd2 woke everyone up at 5am this morning because she was having a coughing fit, then dd1 was complaining her throat hurt, she couldn't breath and watery eyes, luckily once they're up and about it clears up a bit.
37+3 today. Dc1 was born at this gestation. I'm really not holding out much hope, I bet we sail past her due date without an arrival.

Hey.

Sorry to hear of everyone suffering with coughs and colds. It's very annoying when you are pregnant / breastfeeding as there's not much you can take. I've had this lingering cold for over 2 weeks now (it's what gave me a temperature after my waters broke and made them anxious enough to send me to the main hospital rather than let me give birth in the maternity unit, in case I had an infection). I'm not sure if I'm just generally run down a bit after having DD2 but I just can't seem to shift the bloody thing!

Health Visitor came this morning (she was supposed to come last week but phoned to cancel an hour after she was supposed to have arrived ). She was okay, but I sensed it was very much a 'tick-box exercise', as she just asked how we both were, gave me some leaflets, and then left again. I asked her a couple of questions (like what baby / toddler groups were on locally) and she didn't know, which I thought was a bit odd.

DH is back to work tomorrow (although he's only working a half day as he's taking half a days leave to come with me to register DD2's birth). Given that I should only be 39 weeks today it feels a bit weird that his paternity leave has already finished. I'm also a tad anxious about coping with a young baby and a toddler on my own (I don't really have any family around who can help much).

My DD has cold, or at least a very blocked up nose. She's supposed to be able to leave hospital in a few days but she won't be able to if her nose is still blocked and she can't clear it without the sucking machine. Sigh.

According to the list there is 78babies due before me and I'm due the 13th. We have a crazy busy thread.

I am so full of cold it's awful, having a stroppy 3year old is not helping.

Update from me:

Baby Sunshine arrived at lunchtime today weighing a really healthy 7lb 4oz. She's a chunky and strong girl, doing really well. She's currently in SCBU.

Waters went at 2am this morning, but I didn't realise (it was a slow trickle) until 5. Had a c section which was lovely and calm, she came out and weed on me! She came out screaming, and she was well enough for delayed cord clamping which is ideal. I'm missing her lots, hoping to go back for more cuddles soon.

Fantastic news, south! Congratulations! Sounds lovely and calm and she is a great weight! Hope you get cuddles very soon with your precious bundle!

Am getting excited about meeting our babies reading about all these new arrivals!
