We maxed out our last thread before starting a new one.
I'm not savvy like kitkat so can't post our list either! Hopefully there will be some ba's before this thread is completed.

Congratulations Esk. That was a really good weight.

Had an awful nights sleep and woken up full of cold. Never knew that about Lemsip will stay away from that.

Any news on queen?

Nojo82 · 20/11/2016 09:29

Congratulations Esk.

I didnt sleep to badly last night, but woke this morning choking on a build up of phlem. Yuk!! Feel terrible today, has been getting progressively worse every day.. def got flu, no energy at all.. what should I do?

AppleMagic · 20/11/2016 09:30

That's great news esk!

I've been discharged now am an back at home. Baby is in NICU but doing well, just needing to feed and grow really. I'm up pumping for him and will head back to spend the day with him tomorrow. I'm really lucky that I find pumping easy so already making enough milk I could supply his whole ward.

StubbleTurnips · 20/11/2016 09:57

Congrats Esk!

Nojo you can take linctus type cough syrups - honey or blackcurrant ones. The pharmacist said they were fine.

Cold all around here, plus I've got earache.

DartmoorDoughnut · 20/11/2016 12:43

Congrats esk Grin Flowers

That's fab news apple

EllenDegenerate · 20/11/2016 13:00

Congratulations Esk Flowers

SolomanDaisy · 20/11/2016 14:06

Congratulations esk! Great that you didnt need to be induced.

Have they given you a weight to aim for Apple or is it just that he needs to be feeding?

DD is off all her monitors and we're being trained on tube feeding. It's easy really, as long as nothing goes wrong. So hopefully we'll be going home early this week!

Londonmamabychance · 20/11/2016 14:52

Big congrats, Esk hope you and the little
Boy are both doing very well!

Poor you, Nojo, it's so hard to be ill
And pregnant and the same time! Can you maybe just try to escape the pain by watching loads of series? Netflix etc? With flu there isn't much too do but to ride it out,
Try to rest and sleep loads and drink loads
Of liquid.

Well done on the breastfeeding, Apple!

Also hardly slept this night but then stayed in bed till 12, so not too bad now.

Got a question:
Any of you reusing mattresses used for older siblings? I know they say you shouldn't reuse a mattress because there can be bacteria etc, got a new cot bed for the baby but was actually planning to hair reside the Moses basket and mattress which I used for DD...use the Moses basket too because I find it so handy being able to carry he baby from room to room during day time naps. Do you think that's bad?

Thisisbonkers · 20/11/2016 15:22

Congratulations esk!

goinggrey1978 · 20/11/2016 15:31

Eskerina81, wow another one!! massive congratulations and a brilliant weight as well!!

SouthDownsSunshine · 20/11/2016 15:32

That's great news apple that you got discharged and are producing lots of milk :)

nojo just lots of rest and liquid I think. If you have a fever I think you'll need to see a doctor though.

London I wouldn't reuse mattresses, we bought new ones for the carrycot and cot.

goinggrey1978 · 20/11/2016 15:52

Londonmamabychance, i wouldn't use an old or used mattress either there are various reasons they recommend a new mattress for each new baby, if you look online at 'online4baby' have very good prices i got my travel cot and my cotbed with mattress from them at a very good price and there's lots of choice as well

Nojo82 · 20/11/2016 18:25

Thanks for all the well wishes, i slept til about 12ish then went down to my parents house. Mainly coz they have a big garden so the boys could run about. I actually felt so much better, having others to ralk to etc. Home now and not feeling too bad, just topped up on paracetamol.
If im no better tomorrow morning ill visit my gp.

solomon glad ur baba is doing well and you get home soon..

Gosh this cold weather has me in bit of a panic, having to drive to the hospital with possibility of snow!! Not good!

Anyone taking raspberry tea leaf! Im taking the tablets, anything to help with pushing stage. Pushed for hours with Ds1&2. Never used them before. Anyone any experience of taking them..

AppleMagic · 20/11/2016 19:20

soloman they haven't really given any criteria for when he can come home. They are weaning him off the glucose drip at the moment and he has to eat a certain amount or he is tube fed the residual. I think mainly he just needs his blood sugars to stabilise.
It sounds like you will get to go home soon which is very exciting.

Bigfam · 20/11/2016 19:49

I drank raspberry tea leaf in my last pregnancy, but the main reason was because I liked it. Another herb I read helps to soften your cervix and help with labour (apparently) is evening primrose oil, the capsules, or you can insert them vaginally as well... I haven't tried either though!

Nojo82 · 20/11/2016 19:54

Ive got the evening primrose oil. Been taking 1 tab a day. Then ill up it gradually.. yea heard about inserting it vaginally, but early days for that yet..

DartmoorDoughnut · 20/11/2016 20:38

london I'm reusing the sleepyhead and crib & cotbed mattresses

Londonmamabychance · 20/11/2016 21:31

Thanks for all the comments on reusing mattresses, in the end I decided to order a new one for the Moses basket, as the existing one was actually really crap and thin, and when I looked at it I remembered that I sort of wanted to order a better one already for DD but never got round too it.
Decided to reuse the mattress for the carry cot in the buggy though, I see the point of it being import that it's clean and all, but then I also think that most of us probably slept on reused mattresses from our siblings and other babies, also, the official advice just says that you can reuse a mattress, you just need to clean it thoroughly and make sure it has no indents or tears or wholes etc, so as long as that's done I it should be fine Smile

Nojo82 · 20/11/2016 22:29

I used the same mattress for my eldest 3. Did them no harm. Have a new one for this baby.
Just had a really sharp pain in my right side. Still sore on movement and when i got up, it stopped me. Cant see it being the start tho..

duxb · 20/11/2016 23:05

Congratulations on the safe arrival Esk Smile

Londonmamabychance · 20/11/2016 23:09

Hope you're okay, Nojo!
I'm struck with insomnia and up googling baby names.
Think boys names are so
Much harder than girls' names, had at least five names I really loved for DD and for this boy we have three and I'm sort of not completely in love with either one of them, but can't seem to find just the right one!

SolomanDaisy · 21/11/2016 00:27

It's a shame that once the pregnancy insomnia goes you have to be awake during the night with the baby! Nature should organise things better.

I used raspberry leaf with DS and had a 15 minute second stage. Nothing to compare it to though, so I don't know whether the raspberry leaf can take the credit! Apparently nettle tea also helps with contractions.

nojo, where is your pain?

apple, it sounds like he is doing really well! DD also has to drink a certain amount or she is tube fed, it's a slow process. Some feeds she has enough and then some she only has a few millilitres and some she just won't wake up to feed at all. It's so unpredictable that the neonatal unit freezer is full of my excess milk!

Nojo82 · 21/11/2016 03:57

solomon the pain was right across my stomach. Didnt get anymore so a braxton hick im guessing..

Wide awake here. Totally bunged up, throat really sore so might need to get up for pain killers..

Bumbleclat · 21/11/2016 04:04

Hello wide awake club, Nojo, getting up and taking 2 paracetamol every 4 hours was the only way I could survive this cold- it's miserable isn't it.
Names are so hard. I'm set on one for weeks then just completely go off it, maybe when I see hervIll feel more definite.

I'm starting to feel a bit distant from my Hypnobirthing course that I paid a fortune for did earlier in my pregnancy and really need to spend some time doing the exercises I learnt because the reality of giving birth/ fear of unknown is getting stronger now.

Nojo82 · 21/11/2016 04:30

Think ill go see my gp today bumble as this is getting worse. Got up to go to toilet and had a coughing fit. Think ive a chest infection as im bringing up green stuff.

Ive had a name for so long and im so surprised i havent gone off it yet..

Would love to get back to sleep but i doubt it and ive to get up at 7am to take ds1 to the bus. Ds2&3 are off today so no getting back to bed..
