dd aged three just looked at washing up with her hand on her hip and said "come on mum lets get cracking" lmao

lillaura · 15/02/2007 08:42

spose she is right tho, one more sip of cuppa, then get on with it and get dressed - decorating my bedroom today so plenty to do

lillaura · 15/02/2007 08:44

oh yeah shh - dh doesnt know bout the decorating thing lol

twelveyeargap · 15/02/2007 08:50

Awh. "Let's get cracking."

DH doesn't know about the decorating? Won't he go mad?

Mine would. He doesn't even like it if I move furniture. He's what you might call a creature of habit.

lillaura · 15/02/2007 08:54

lol no - he says it one of things he loves about me - never knows wot to expect or wot he is coming home to. anyway brm rely horrible its not been decorated since last tenants so wnat something calm and relaxing for when baby gets here dont think bright ble and white is wot we need... plus he at work all day its me who spends all my time in the house lol

Frenchsmallfry · 15/02/2007 08:54

hehe, I'm a serial furniture mover. Has to be done at least once every 3 mths or so. Need a fresh look on a room often. Dh doesn't care he just lets me get on with it.

Have fun with the decorating, don't stand on chairs though........

lillaura · 15/02/2007 08:56

Frenchsmallfry · 15/02/2007 08:58

Cunning I like it.......

OP posts:
lillaura · 15/02/2007 09:01

works tho lol

notsolilKel · 15/02/2007 09:18

FSF thx much for the beanbag feedback. I gather it's great for newborns and toddlers but not inbetween as they're too tippy. Seriously considering this bouncer on Ebay as it has all the features I want but looks big enough to have its own engine and require L Plates!!!

Lillaura, I was in exact situation one Val Day a couple of years ago, 6 mo into our marriage, and it sucked. I'm sorry (HUGS). Some days our DH aren't in the mood. Happy to report my DH made up for it last night so you see there is always hope...

I'm in a mad decorating & eating rush lately. Second time round it's worse!

lillaura · 15/02/2007 09:26

same here - so if hubby doesnt like it a blame pregnamcy lol

ShowOfHands · 15/02/2007 09:43

Morning all. I take back everything I said about us not bothering with Valentines, DH bought me a card and we went out for dinner. Nice surprise, not expected and I ate too much. Been up most of the night with heartburn, but it was worth it.

Got some terrible news to share with you all. DH says he's joining MN. It might even be my fault as I referred to the people on his MySpace movie forum as a bunch of 'zombie-hunting weirdies' and I may have said 'you'd be better off joining in MN if you want proper conversation'. Goodness knows how he got it into his head to join us.

Possible concerns:

  1. He'll read the antenatal thread with the nun porn chat
  2. He'll read the other antenatal thread with the pirate porn chat
  3. LG&T will blame the whole porn thing on me
  4. I won't be able to talk about piles/varicose vains/gas/stretch marks, I'll have to say things like 'ooh I love being pregnant I feel all womanly and lovely and stuff'
  5. He'll tell you all what a dreadful slattern I am in rl
  6. He'll be on my PC, using my forum and I'll have to tempt him off with treats so I can talk to all the May 07ers in peace

Oh God. Is there a lock on this thread. Bar the doors, don't let him in.

SKYTVADDICT · 15/02/2007 10:02

Oh no SOH - my DP woudn't have a clue where to start so I am lucky but as I have said before DD1 does and that is why I don't take part in the "porn" parts of the chat

At work today, only 12 days (6 weeks to go). Morning at home ended in tears again (me and the 2 DDs!), I just don't seem to be able to cope with the DDs shouting, screaming and hitting each other. I think what got to me this morning is I don't know who to believe. I think I believe DD1 when she says DD2 hits her, swears etc but then that would make DD2 a really horrible little liar eg DD1 said she hit DD2 because DD2 had scrathced her hand but DD2 said DD1 did it to herself (I saw the scrath and it wasn't small!!).

Anyway rant over - going to eat cake

scootermum · 15/02/2007 10:03

You will have to change you rname SOH to protect your anonymity!

My DH also turned up the goods yesterday in the ed by sendign some flowers to work..You are right thought TYG-It really shouldnt be anything to get worked up about..When they forger birthdays/anniversaries things like that its more upsetting..

Any further word on your Dad TYG-How is he?

My brother and his wife went to their first NCT class last night..oh it brings back all the memories...Im not doing the classes this time as its not so long since last time really..sometimes feel as if im not amijg enough fuss of this little bean as with dd we did everything antental and read all the books and bought all new stuff.Ive hardly a minute to think about this one..I hope she doesnt end up messed up because of it!(may voice these concerns to dh who will then buy me my new buggy...cunning)

Did anyone watch the Brits last night?I have to say im slightly worried about Joss Stone.Didnt she used to be a nice normal person? What on earth has happened to the girl? She has lost about 12 stone and seemed a bit strung out to me..enjoyed The Killers though..Brandon Flowers is the only man for whom I would forgive that 'tache..
Well done Creena by the way..I feel quite sorry for Kerry Katona..I mean what has she ever done wrong really?

ShowOfHandsWithFalseBeard · 15/02/2007 10:17

SOH I think you should relax about DH joining. You're clearly fab, we won't listen to a word he says to the contrary.

And that porn stuff? That was all Cinnamon and LG&T, you weren't even there were you?

And all those lovely things you say about DH on a daily basis...

twelveyeargap · 15/02/2007 10:20

Thanks Scooter. More tests on Monday, but the consensus seems to be that if he very drastically cuts his drinking (i.e. to normal/ acceptable levels), then he will be fine. Whether he achieves that remains to be seen.

I feel for you SKYTV. Little girls can be such minxes and so very crafty with it too. It won't be long before DD1 grows out of tormenting her sister and DD2 won't get sufficient reaction when trying to torment the older one to make it worth her while. (Hopefully!)

twelveyeargap · 15/02/2007 10:21

Waaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Actually laughed out loud there.

cinnamontam · 15/02/2007 10:25

Haaaaaaa - me too. Scared the cats who have run outside from the pregnant woman cackling in the kitchen

I guess it's too much to hope there is a Dadsnet out there for him instead?

ShowOfHandsWithFalseBeard · 15/02/2007 10:26

TYG, I feel like a Life Of Brian sketch.

Stone him!

Anyway, not something I really talk about but had similar issues with my Dad's health a couple of years ago (drinking, weight, lifestyle etc). He was also diagnosed with bipolar disorder (after a very fraught time for him and my Mum). I am happy to report that he is a tee-total, gym-going and healthy man now. He was in a terrible state for a while and I know his turn-around is fairly radical but it can happen. It took a big shock for it to happen though.

Aherm...

Are there any women here today?

I'm a big hairy trucker.

Frenchsmallfry · 15/02/2007 10:28

We could be really horrible SOH, might put him off then. Don't let him do it.

It's funny though as I leave MN up all day and just refresh every so often. The last two days I started to notice that it had been refreshed already, last night I caught dh doing it. I said Errrrrrrr are you reading my mumsnet? He replied "No errr I was just refreshing it for you to save you doing it darling" yeah right!!! Maybe they are getting jealous of us all on here chatting away with out them. lol bless

ShowOfHandsWithFalseBeard · 15/02/2007 10:28

Dadsnet only has three threads on it:

My wife is a nag
What do you read in the loo?
What car do you drive?

And all responses are monosyllabic grunts.

Of course I jest.

They also talk about computers and football sometimes.

twelveyeargap · 15/02/2007 10:29

Thanks er, Stranger... It's really nice to hear that older people can turn themselves around like that.

Frenchsmallfry · 15/02/2007 10:30

God it took me sooo lond to write that last post I've missed all the ones in between. Was chatting on MSN at the same time. Rubbish, sorry.

SOHWFB You are funny..Are you new?!

My dads the same with his eating-he is a dietary controlled diabetic but doesnt seem to get that he thus shouldnt eat sugary foods to excess, drink etc..his blood sugar is all over the shop constantly and as a result he is at best a total misery guts at times and at worst very ill..but ive run out of energy to nag him so have to let him get on with it..
He never learns..hope your Pa sees sense...

Chin up Skytv..If its any consolation I have it all to come I fear...
