Morning all.............

This weeks resolution for me is to get off my bum and organise my life.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Annabel Karmel is that the one that has 20 ingredients per dish? I've heard she's a bit labour-intensive.

Frenchsmallfry · 18/02/2007 20:42

Thats the one SOH, although I have to say, I do like some of her recipies, the toddler meals are whole family ones and the weaning ones are very good, things that I would never have thought to put together. Like bannana and avocardo? The advice about when and how in between each chapter is really useful. IMO

Thanks for your comments on ds, feeling a little more relaxed now just ate some chocolate.

FSF, my goodness, your DS has made me cry too!! I remember having the same conversation with my mum and my grandma at age 4, it was just heartbreaking to realise that these lovely people might be (gulp) gone one day!! In fact, remembering that all makes me well up even to this day... Thank goodness the nature of things provides joyful little beautiful baby bundles for us to love, or it would be a sad world indeed.

On the p&t front, just have to chime in that you can get hooks for the handles for throwing your shopping onto like these I've never found a shopping basket that really held much more than a handkerchief anyway! Even my beloved Maclaren XT is skimpy down there. Actually what I do is keep a couple of cloth shopping bags and so at the shops, just get them out, dump my stuff in there, throw it on a hook, and good to go! The one really helpful comment I've heard re doubles, when one kid is bigger than the other, is keep in mind that the big/heavy kid is in front, and you'll have to lever them up to get onto pavements. So a tandem can be difficult, if the front seat is quite far in front...

So sorry to hear of all the tears. I was like that Thursday. Stupid Jeremy Kyle show about a 19-wk pg crack addict making me bawl about the preciousness of wee baby lives...!!

scootermum · 18/02/2007 20:54

Some of her things have quite alot of ingredients-and some have quite detailed advise on preperation-but others are ok..She is just very strict on what should be put in-probably rightly so, but if like me you are tempted to use the odd shortcut and then panic after that you have somehow fed your child poison because you didnt dice the chicken into exactly 1cm squre cubes or shape the mash into looking like a fish or whatever, then she might not be for you..
In person she seems quite scary as well-very barbie doll looking.I saw her on the Wright Stuff once..And her smile could freeze water.
Perhaps SHE could help with my fridge!!

Off to get ready for bed now as can no longer continue my vigil in the kitchen. Will just have to trust in the Gods of white goods over night.Have wrapped it in towels to avoid a potential flood in case our worst fears are confirmed in the early hours..
Night night all..

FSF - Firstly congrats on the new car so pleased it was right for you. And secondly, how sweet is H! Had a lump in my throat but thought it was cute all at the same time.

Scoot - will pray for your fridge tonight However, and these words come from my DH 'tell her to buy the buggy before the fridge breaks down!'

SOH - at your mum! Why cant people just say nice things. Surely if they have been there themselves they must understand that we need all the positive comments we can get, even if we know that they are just being polite!

Re the buggy debate - I REALLY wanted the urban detour twin in red as i thought it was a bargain at 229 and that included the cosy toes, rain cover etc. But after careful consideration and research (watched the kiddicare video) i would have had to changed my car, which i cant really afford to do - and i do love my current car - and then there was the whole 'how much longer will ds want to sit in the buggy' thing. What if he decides he doesnt want to go in the buggy after 6mths of having it? It would mean that either the buggy would collect crap on my shopping trips, or be made redundant. The P&T on the other hand, apart from being super cool! Allows me to switch between single/double/single as often as i need and it is just soooooo easy to do. I think i should be getting commission or something! I also have a Maclaren Techno XT, i LOVE that as well. It is light, easy to store etc etc, only thing i can find as a negative is that the shopping basket is fairly small. The Maclaren MX3 is also very cool. You can buy a carry cot to fit on it as well. Had a look at it in John Lewis the other week and thought it was great.

OOh rambled on a bit there - Sorry!

aprilmeadow · 18/02/2007 21:13

also the P&T's have some cool accessories to help with the no baket space when the back seat is being used take a peek

LupinsBigLump · 18/02/2007 21:42

AM was that John Lewis in Reading - I keep frequenting there lol

Scooter - sending positive vibes to your fridge

Lillaura - Parcel all packed and ready to go

I cant believe the size I seem to have got this last week - sure I have grown by a 3rd, certainly making me alot more tired

Has anyone considered Bertini shuttle - very good off road, steerable wheels, huuuuuggge shopping basket - only downside is its quite big and bulky - altho wheels do come off to put it in car

notsolilKel · 18/02/2007 22:22

yeah the maclaren XT is supercool. actually, anything I can still lift while 6mo pg is quite special, IMHO....!

my one piece of non-biased advice (yes I do have one!) for first timers buying buggies is, go for the lightest one you can find that fits into your boot/hallway. defo actually go see it in person, and try to lift it when folded.

BTW I'm still in Scoot & SOH about the absurdly catty & snide comments made by your own mothers!!!! just wrong, I tell you!

Lwatkins · 18/02/2007 23:18

Evening all

Not been on in a while as have not had much to report, sadly life's just all normal and average at the mo! Need some excitment I tell you!
Going home to bonny Scotland on Friday and back Wednesday so can't wait for that. I'll shock all my family by how big I must be compared to when they saw me at xmas. Looking forward to being waited on hand and foot by them all though, and yes I most certainly will be taking advantage Just hope there aren't any problems with the planes this time (shudders at memories of trying to fly home after xmas!)

Have made another lasagne tonight, seriously think i'm turning into Garfield! Got all my washing done today as well but cannot be arsed to put it away. Need to make my bed up as well and put covers back on but it's just too much of an effort. The thought of it is making me yawn.

Had a bit of a cry today too, but for more vain reasons. My size 8/10 figure is officially no more My wardrobe is so depressing to look at, nothing - and I mean nothing fits me! By 4pm was sat in a heap on the floor in tears surrounded by the contents of my wardrobe having just attempted to squeeze my way into it only to find it a struggle to fit a freakin limb into anything - no joke. Must have had a BIG growth spurt recently as a week or 2 ago all was still fine clothing wise. Now feel like a bit of a wreck as the only thing i can get into is my pj's, mind they are very funky pj's! Feeling very sorry for myself and the pack of 6 chocolate muffins that I bought last bight have all been eaten (by 12 this afternoon) Maybe that's the reason for the weight gain

Hope all lovely mummy's and bumps are ok LW x

LupinsBigLump · 19/02/2007 00:37

2 bloomin hours i have been tryig to get comfy in bed my feet are restless and seem t have swollen this evening, lo is dancing again - awwww flip and now my pelvis really hurts

Good advice from lilkel - two of my 1st pushchairs were either two big and took over the hallway and I had a maclaren 3 wheeler which didnt fit through the door - unless you fold it slightly - only trouble was once I clicked it back into place and dd's finger had found its way to the gap - needless to say off to the hospital thinking i has snapped her tiny finger - it was ok as thier bone is still soft she was v. bruised tho

Hope ev1 is sleeping soundly

LW good to hear from you - have a good trip to scotland and make the most of being looked after
