Oh don't worry FSF I have a PC at home... who knows 9 months of maternity leave and I might keep up with you lot a bit better!

TYG, another scan. How great. Won't see Mathilda until she's here now, all being well. Only 13 weeks left...

ooh home time!

Scooter - sorry to hear about your FIL - my mums bf had it on his nose they caught it quite early and just ended up taking a chunk of his nose off - of course being a vain man this was hoorendous for him - but not as bad as if the doc hadnt spotted it - he had gone in for something entirly differant

Juicy hope your cold gets better soon - I have had mine a whole 8 days now and getting v fed up with it - its past the bad stage and is just lingering on grrrr, hope you feel better soon

Pink - big round of applause - I have mage it a whole once lol, only cos of this syupid cold tho - and its been too cold outside, definatly go for scan just to put your mind at rest

AM well done on getting your p&t

I have been on my feet most of the day and they really ache, bump was realllllly aching, had a nice day tho - met up with friend took girls to pizza hut then went to Reading Museam they do craft days there in the holidays and they are free so they made collage wooly mammoths, then went to primark got the cutest baby socks (white) and a yellow hooded towel thing and flannel set. I am off to see the midwife tomorrow to moan about lack of scans - mentioned this to my mum this morning and I think if I dont get nhs one she will pay for private one - told her how much it was and that I had no money and she said for the sake of that much you have to have it done let me know how you get on, so hopefully next week I will be having another look at my baaaby - trouble is I dont like moaning at people so hopefully i cant hold my ground with midwife - tyg can I have yours pls

Afternoon!!

I have just spent a lovely peaceful afternoon....in the pub!!!

Ds1 had his appointment with the epilepsy consultant this morning, basically it was just a chance for ehr to find out all the details before going any further. He has to return some time in April to have some tests and then if they dont find anything major he has to go back in June, I made sure the appointment is for late June in case this LO decides to be late. It only took us an hour to sort everything out so ds1 went straight to school (most kids would jump at the chacne to have the day off, not mine he wanted to go) The good thing is he is allowed to start swimming again and has been given the go ahead to do anything he wants (sport wise etc) as long as he informs the adult in charge that he has had fits before and get them to keep an eye on him. He is so happy.

After lunch it was ds2's turn to go to pre-school and as dh has taken the night off work he decided to take me to the pub, its literally over the road from the school so its not as if I had far to go to collect ds2. It was really nice though, at one point there was only myself and dh in there. I had two glasses of wine and a coke and ended up going to the ladies about 5 times It gave us chance to talk more about the baby so that was nice, normally we've either got kids running around us or he is rushing off to work and by the time he gets home im too tired to talk.

I get to collect my pram on Thursday, cant wait. Now all i have to do is be patient, I cant wait to use it I bought the LO a hooded towel with a Madagascar motif on it the other day, for no reason other than it looked cute, must try to stick to essentials though

14wks to go!!!!

scootermum · 12/02/2007 17:39

Thanks all for your supportive messages..it turns out he had some skin removed last year but didnt tell anyone and this time he has had this patch of skin behind his ear that has been worrying him for 6 months, and hasnt said anything till now.Think he was just scared really..he has to go back to the hosp on the 26th when we will know more..it has certainly made me think about my own moles and things that need looking at anyway-and all of you please do the same if applicable!(sermon over)

I cant believe how organised you all are.Ive no idea which bit of the attic any of dd's newborn things went to or what on earth we might need to get new before the lo arrives..I think I have been in denial till now to some extent-obviously I know im pg but have just actually realised that in not very long there will be a real other baby in the house...On Saturday after luncheon am going to John Lewis to start stocking up in earnest!

FSF its me with no PC at home. Will only have dh's laptop when he gets back from work.I am trying to persuade him to get me one for home but I dont think I can have that and my new buggy so it will be a case of which I want more..Will still be able to get on in the evenings but I dont think that will satisfy me..Also have just volunteered to co ordinate the May bumps and babes NCT group for our area so will need some sort of reliable access..(I dont know how im going to do that with two babies, as I cant do much with one at the moment-but then dd is a very sickly child it appears!)
O yes, re your bed question-Im putting dd in her new bed hopefully before the baby arrives as I dont want to buy a new cot for just 6 months or less use.The new bed is not much bigger than a cot anyway and has raised sides so hopefully she wont notice too much..(obviously this will prove to be unfounded hope and she will be a total nightmare but its better for my sanity to be optimistic I think..)DD will be about 17 months when the baby comes-but then I guess the baby will be in the basket for about the first 3 months which will leave a little more time..if dd really hates the bed I guess travel cot might be an interim solution?Or will that give her a bad back if used for longer periods of time?

Good God.Today is dragging.Still 4 hours to go.I want to go home!!

Have just started having heartburn for England. But I havent eaten anything for two hours.Delayed heartburn.Im not amused..

aprilmeadow · 12/02/2007 18:00

Here is a link to the site i got my p&t from. Pram World

BTW the black version is has been discontinued but they do have a few still in stock. Also the ones on the site are the 2006 model. 2007 being released at end of month and are about 30 quid more as they have 'improvements' like the toddler seat reclines. I wasnt bothered about that.

Frenchsmallfry · 12/02/2007 18:11

Pebble your afternoon sounded just lovely, so glad that things look good for ds too.

TYG, I have to say your midwife does sound lovely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scooter, glad you will still have access to MN, was panicking we were going to loose someone

It is a tricky one on the bed front. I don't want to do it too early with M but on the otherhand I don't want her to feel she's had her bed stolen from under her sleepy head if I leave it til just before or once baby arrives. Brain ticking on this one!!!
I am suffering with on and off heartburn. Spent two evenings the week before I went away moaning to dh as I felt sick, It wasn't until I went to bed on the second night that I realised what it was. Found the Rennies and have been cured ever since

notsolilKel · 12/02/2007 18:49

hey FSF and Scooter, re the bed thing, this is what we've decided to do... DS will be almost 15mo when baby arrives. Baby will go into basket for 1-2 mo (DS didn't last longer than 1mo as he was so active a sleeper) and DS will stay in his cot during this time. So far, no money spent (phew)!

Around July/August we'll put baby into DS' cot (new bumper needed). DS will move into new cot/bed. This I'm buying off ebay, with major cost being new mattress, sheets, duvet etc for him. We'll leave the sides up till 18-24mo or whenever he seems ready, then voila, it becomes cot-sized bed. We'll need one of those foldable sides to hold him in...

It's worth noting that toddler beds are only a smidge bigger than cotbeds, so if you think it's too soon to put your older baby into a bed, cotbed might be your answer. They're supposed to last up till 4-5 years, same as 'toddler beds'.....

Babies R Us seem to have the best prices on cotbeds, sheets, etc...(any better deals out there let me know!!)

aprilmeadow · 12/02/2007 18:58

We have a cotbed for J and thats why we are buying another CB for this one. Seems daft to buy a junior bed when this lasts until the same age. Not sure i am as brave you other ladies with regard to trying him in it as a bed rather than a cot. I like to know that he is secured! The sides do come up quite high and as yet (touch wood) he hasnt tried to escape. I also know that if we did convert it to the bed that he would be in and out like a yo yo and i then i would need yet another stair gate to attach to his room. We live in a town house, our room is on the top floor and the kids bedrooms are on the middle floor. Although we have stair gates at the top of the 1st flight and bottom of the 2nd flight of stairs i would worry about him playing in the bathroom and also going into the nursery (there you go FSF i called it nursery rather than spare room ).

Lwatkins · 12/02/2007 19:09

Evening all
Feeling very good today. Tidied room and bathroom, and all dishes have been done. Made a lasagne from scratch last night and am just finishing it of now, even though I made it myself I must say.....drool, soooo good! Spent all afternoon writing up a 2,500 word account of what happened with my flatmate this weekend. Spoke to my accomadation officer and she is totally backing me and Nic and now we're just getting it all assessed and hopefully might get him thrown out this flat. Yes, I think I could live with that and I'd certainly save money on re-stocking stolen food!

Has anybody else noticed less movement with babies recently? Bean had a pattern where she'd be active one day and not so active the following two days. But this has all gone kind of tits up the last couple of days and have barely felt her move. I would worry but I have felt her a couple of times, but it's certainly a lot less than usual. I have however noticed a sudden growth spurt and can no longer do my buttons up on my size 10 jeans. Do you think this weight gain or whatever it is might be cushioning her movements?

Scooter so sorry to hear about your poor father in law, like others have said I think the success rate if caught in time is fairly high. Sending him well wishes, all will be fine x

SOH, I get a bit overwhelmed from time to time with the sudden thought of 'oh god, i'm having a baby.....I'm gonna be a mummy!' Bless little bean, I forget about her and the whole pregnancy thing a lot of the time and have days where realisation hits and I get all cooey over it!

TYG very envious at you getting another scan. I had one at 20 weeks and that's all I get! Mind I had a very early one at 6+3 to determine dates, but that wasn't through my care that I have now. Still a bit surprised at how I managed to get it

Lupins hope you do manage to get your scan, again very envious if you do!

Pebble glad you've had a lovely day, and good on your little fella for his positive attitude. Done a good job in raising him

Sorry to all of those who aren't feeling very well with colds/flu etc. If it makes you feel any better I'm feeling pretty good However on the downside I do live with a mini wannabe gangster who's apparently gonna kill me!!!

cinnamontam · 12/02/2007 19:13

Was going to ask you guys what you take for heartburn. Bean must have changed position over the weekend cause I've had constant heartburn since midday Saturday and feeling her kicking higher up than she has been. I'll give the Rennie's a go

cinnamontam · 12/02/2007 19:14

Hey Lwatkins - I have just made my first lasagne from scratch It's in the oven cooking as I type. Can't wait to try it out.

Frenchsmallfry · 12/02/2007 19:23

Thanks for your replies on the bed delema. I already have a toddler bed! It is lovely, has 3 low sides and I used a bed guard on the open side for a while with ds. it will do them up until about 6, but ds(4)now has a huge high cabin bed which he loves. I just really don't want to buy anything else. It seems crazy, dd will be 21 mths when baby born and baby will be in moses basket for a few weeks. Can you see what I'm saying though about whipping dd's cot from under her though once baby arrives. I'm worried she'll hate baby for stealing it or do you think she's still too young to bother with that. Should I stop being so tight and buy another cot, I'd be pissed if dd started climbing out though once I'd bought another. She does think she is a gorilla AM will tell you, she even has the coat to go with it.

In my situation would you do it before or after baby???

Hello all
made it back from weekend with inlaws and noone killed each other and we all got on etc etc...mind you, i did pull the "I'm Pregnant" card everysooften and disappear for a snooze!!!Found brilliant hotel in Evesham which is v family friendly (toys/high tea etc) but not in such a way that you feel ghetto-ised - there were non children people there too! Scary moment on Sat when DS choked on a piece of pumpkin seed ryvita (bl**dy health food. He started going blue and it looked as if he was coughing up blood (it was actually a nosebleed). Really scary. SIL is a medic so was really good - I was a bit scared about how i would have coped if it had just been me. ANyway, he was sharing our room in the hotel on Sat night and then, when we got home last night, I put his mattress on the floor in our room to be sure he was OK. He is but he looks as if he has some dreadful skin disease because he coughed so much that all the blood vessels on his face popped up and he has loads of tiny red spots now - apparently you usually get these when you are throttled. I am nearly calm again...what am I going to do when he wants to start driving etc? (OK that is another 14 years but I am scared already!!)

Speaking of beds - I put DS in toddler bed at about 28 months. We bought one which has a little bit of a rail on both sides at one end but we putit against a wall and put both the rails on one side so that there was a gap inthe middle but he was a bit safer - mind you, he has fallen out quite a lot and doesn't seem to mind - it isnt very far from a toddler bed! Now he is sleeping in his beaver bed on the floor it is all irrelevant - ie a bunch of pillows.

Results of glucose test tomorrow - fingers crossed. Iam pretty confident (pride and fall?!) - MYG - I'm having it because DS1 was v big.

must go - hungry..again

ShowOfHands · 12/02/2007 19:25

Lasagne's my fail safe, quick n easy 'look what I made' meal. Make quite a mean lasagne if I do say so myself. It's all in the white sauce...

Cinnamon, try Gaviscon, it's miraculous! Get a huge bottle on prescription.

anneme · 12/02/2007 19:25

PS cinnamonton - I live on REnnies - nice fruity ones

cinnamontam · 12/02/2007 19:26

Thanks SOH - will get some tomorrow.

I hate to ask but no sign of your puss cat?

Frenchsmallfry · 12/02/2007 19:27

Tam, I like the spearmint Rennies, not got that chalky taste. They are safe in pregnancy btw.

OP posts:
cinnamontam · 12/02/2007 19:28

Anneme - fruity ones sounds good. Shall try both. Good luck on the glucose test tomorrow. Let us know how you go.

What a fright with your DS - so glad he's ok.

Frenchsmallfry · 12/02/2007 19:37

That reminds me I must re-book my gloucose test.. booooo hooooooo.... stopms feet DONT WANT TO, HATE IT!!!! Tried to suggest to the midwife I didn't think it was necessasary (sp) for me and couldn't we just watch for any signs or symptoms, she wasn't imressed!! Said "I think you sould have it, it is very important" Grrrrrr why isn't it routine EVERYWHERE then. Rant over, I should be very greatful that they routinly check all areas I suppose, But I just don't like it. Yukkkkkkkkkkk

OP posts:
Frenchsmallfry · 12/02/2007 19:41

LW I think they have a quietish time whilst growing. However you should be still getting at least 10 movements in 24hrs. Actually when you think about it thats not that much, I don't know about you or the others but mine normally give me 10 movements in about 5 minutes when awake. In theory that means you shouldn't worry for another 24 hrs.

OP posts:
Lwatkins · 12/02/2007 19:51

Well lasagne is no more I'm sorry to say. Can't quite believe I managed to consume the entire thing in two sittings - maybe that's why the old jeans aint for doing up anymore! Am now thinking about making another......

Anneme glad your weekend was a no kill zone

Fsf thanks, she has just been really quiet I think I must be the least worried first time mum ever. Even my midwife has said she thinks I'm the most panic free first timer she's seen ever! Don't know whether that's a good or a bad thing though!

aprilmeadow · 13/02/2007 07:19

Have to say that the coat FSF's dd has is gorgeous!! She would fit right into dh's panto as a baby gorilla . Speaking of the panto... i saw act 1 on saturday and seeing dh dressed head to toe as a gorilla was just so funny. Will definately be taking my camera on Friday to get some pictures

I love lasagne, although mine is never made from scratch always helped by my friends dolmio and ragu!

I had a massive indigestion bout last night, although probably to do with the vast amountof food i consumed started off with a wrap filled with ham and cheese and followed by half a pack of chicken super noodles - was helping J with his dinner then after he went to bed i had Garlic Chicken Kievs with curly fries and baked beans, followed by pancakes with the basic sugar and lemon then all rounded off with a FAB ice lolly. Good job i have a massive pack of rennie next to the bed!

Frenchsmallfry · 13/02/2007 08:27

FSF- Bonjour. Comment allez-vous? Avez-vous déballé encore?

I don't think my A Level French can compete with learning the lingo first-hand!

Cinnamon- still no cat.

Just eaten a fry-up for the first time in my whole life. Well, a grill-up. DH always raves about them so I thought I'd give it a whirl. Only problem is that it has made me super thirsty.

Morning all. Got to run. Start work at 11am today so get a lie-in. Unfortunately I don't finish until 7pm though.

DH is going to be fitted for his uniform today (he's joined the police force for those of you I haven't bored with it already). So, tell me LG&T, uniforms are a good thing, no?

DH is also looking at a couple of promising houses this morning. Fingers crossed. Got an agreement in principle so this time round should be a quick pain-free process. Are there at least 2 bedrooms? Is there a garden? Is the vendor a mad old numptoid? All I need to know in three questions...
