but not graco the care seats are rubbish

cinnamontam · 18/02/2007 18:04

Hey all,

It was great meeting everyone yesterday in Waterloo for lunch. Nice to put odd names to not so odd faces
Would be great to do it again. ScooerMum and TYG you were very missed. Sorry the universe transpired against you to get there. You sure SOH wasn't behind it all?

I ate too much and then walked too much looking for a friends pressie so been taking it easy today.

Hope everyone has had a good weekend.

cinnamontam · 18/02/2007 18:04

Goes without saying that 'Everyone' on this thread who wasn't there was missed

Frenchsmallfry · 18/02/2007 18:07

Jucylucy, according to your win list the bugaboo hits 3 of your points?

Personally we didn't like the loola, yes the chassis folds small, but I don't think it can be folded with a carrycot in place? We also found it to feel not very study, it sort of wobbled when steered with the swivel wheels on. Only my opinion though.

im looking at an urban detour twin this time no fancy single prams for me
but wouldnt mind a cheap pink single for wen dh about - pushchair each rather than double

cinnamontam · 18/02/2007 18:18

I'm thinking of getting the Amby hammock for Bean - anyone else had one or know of them?

Frenchsmallfry · 18/02/2007 18:22

lillaura, I have had to buy a double too this time dd will be 21mths when baby arrives. I found a bargain here, £51 for a tandem pushchair, raincover, and normal extras, needless to say I was very pleased with it. So went and bought a far more expencive pram/pushcair as well. I figured the same though, I would probably only use the double buggy whilst I was on my own with all 3.

strolls in yawning and rubbing eyes

Ahhhhhh got dp to drive me to waitrose then went to bed - well got told to go to bed as i was being horrible and grumpy lol, feeling much more human now

Laura hope your ok, is scary when you get unexplained pains

When lo has grown out of carrycot for micralite I will probably look at getting loola or techno xt - just gave mine to my friend b4 I found out I was expecting

We are looking to get a differant car - ours is quite oldish, dp wants an estate - well actually he wants a suberu impreza hmmm not practical, so we will start car looking for car with bit more space, and more economical and a bit newer - then he says he will consider letting us move to Cornwall

Won all the stuff i bidded on on Ebay - ooops didnt expect to - oh well will all get used

Will be back in a bit my stew is calling

scootermum · 18/02/2007 18:31

Hi all,

Have had a little melt down today im afraid to admit. Was trying to do some RMA work and realised a)just how much I have to do,b)That I cant really do it.DD was screaming bloody murder on and off all day as she has a tooth coming I think poor thing and dh was on bed still groaning with his back. Then to cap it all the fridge started making a horrendous grinding noise so I fear that might be on the way out..I did lose it a bit and had a good cry.Which then upset dd even more so felt even worse then.
Sure its just hormones really but I dont ever remember feeling this stressed out and I dont want it to affect the bean or dd..

Need to take a deep breath I think and work out a plan to cope with the last two months of work, the study and everything else..am just going to say a prayer for the fridge as if that goes we wont be able to get the new buggy as times are a little tight right now in the scoot household. We have a weekend away booked in March that said, so maybe we could cancel that and use that money instead but we have been really looking forward to it and could use the change of scenery...

Just one of those days today. But the thought of work tomorrow isnt too inspiring right now..

Sorry all. This post has been a big whine..I really am being a bit Eeeyor today..(is that how you spell Eeeyor?)

lillaura · 18/02/2007 18:42

yeah ds wil be 22 months wen this one comes - dd was two wen ds arrived and she refused to walk till she was three!!!!!!!!

lillaura · 18/02/2007 18:44

i went through loads of doubles last time

scootermum · 18/02/2007 18:55

Which was your fave double then Laura?Im still sold o the phil nad teds but have to admot havent looked at much else..

Hope your new buggy is a triumph Befnal..

TYG Is your dd ok then?Have I missed something on the thread?Apologies if so..

Tam-whats the hammock thing? For the baby to sleep in or just sit in during the day?

My friend just got a load of stuff delivered from Mothercare but in with her order was a whole lot of newborn things, including a baby chair thing on rockers that either sits up or goes flat for the baby to be in when its not in bed.She has called to tell them but thus far they havent reclaimed it so if they dont we will be in for a lovely new baby seat.(We had a really expensive sheepskin one for dd which was lovely but it only had one position which was quite upright so she used to slide down and sideways when she was very little-so this one would be much better-or do you think it would be a bit pikey to have it when we didnt pay for it?)

lillaura · 18/02/2007 19:04

fav out of ones i had was the graco duosport lovely little but didnt last long once ds turned about 10 months old - worst was marco sky everything was horrible - i looked at the P&T' this time and have been begging for it 4 months until i saw a women struggling with one in town first carrying shopping cuz she couldnt get to basket due to baby - the carrying baby cuz shopping was in baby's bit!!!!!!!!! went right off it my sis says her eldest feet took up most of the basket on hers too - so now looking at urban detour side by side

ShowOfHands · 18/02/2007 19:18

Why?

Why?

Why?

Why would my mother say things like 'oh don't worry, some people just balloon when pregnant'/'I just looked fat when pregnant too'/'the extra weight will be worth it'?

Couldn't she just say 'you big fat heifer' and have done with it?

Measured bra size today. Gone from a 34C to a 36E. But then I'm a frickin heifer so no surprise there.

Juicylucytoo · 18/02/2007 19:59

Scootermum - you are allowed to have an off day, as long as it's only one day. Hope you're feeling better tomorrow and the fridge recovers.

SOH - you are not a heifer. Ignore anyone who says so. In fact tell them to bog off. You are pregnant and require complementing on how great you're looking. Insults can be kept to themselves, thank-you very much. Blooin' cheek. Mothers, who'd have them.

Juicylucytoo · 18/02/2007 20:00

bloomin'

scootermum · 18/02/2007 20:04

Dont worry SOH.My Mother always tells me I look very 'puffy' whenever she sees me.And she always has some comment to make about 'modern maternity clothes being so revealing', by which she means it looks like everything im wearing is a size too small..Furthermore after Id had dd she and my Dad ALWAYS asked how much weight id lost, made comments about 'getting my figure back', ad finitum.I wasnt even that bothered about losing weight for the first 6 months or so-I was just bothered about getting myself and dd fed and dressed and not going mental..But it seemed vitally important to my Mum and Dad.
Gaaah-this time it wil be even worse as SIL will no doubt return to her pre pregnancy size 8 about 4 hours post partum so the comparisons will be endless!

(I wouldnt mind but my Mother is no paragon of style herself. She cuts her own hair for goodness sake!I love the woman but really..)

DH is watching a programme about Feral children.I think it will upset me so am not going to watch it.,

Frenchsmallfry · 18/02/2007 20:07

SOH- Grrrrrrrrrr at your Mum, not helpful, you should have burst into tears infront of her.

Gosh why does motherhood throw these things at us? Ds (4) has just had me in tears, he called me from his bedroom to tell me that he loved me and that he didn't want to die EVER! Why, how and where on earth has that come from. Poor lad he can't be messed up at 4? I tried to explain that he should only die when he is very old and then it got on to I don't want you or daddy to die, I would be on my own then. The tears came from me when he said but mummy if you die and become an angel then you wont be able to cuddle me and I won't be able to see you anymore. Pregnancy hormones don't help when things like this are thrown at you. His little face was so sad, bottom lip going and his eyes welling. I just can't deal with it. I'd rather explain where babies come from than that I think?

ShowOfHands · 18/02/2007 20:10

My cousin's getting married 8 weeks after the baby is due and my Mum, her sisters and my Grandma are obsessed with pregnancy weight gain and post-baby weight-loss. At my wedding my cousin had a 3 week old baby and I told her how beautiful I thought her top was and my aunt, her mother, piped up 'it does a good job of concealing most of the left over bits, but I think we'll all agree that it looks better once the weight has gone'. I'm dreading this wedding, I'll be under constant scrutiny. I just can't believe the cheek of some people. It's pregnancy, it's not chocolate. Okay, it's gingerbread too, but keep you silly comments to yourself.

Deep breath...

Deeply cheered up by the 'literary figures you'd like to shag' thread. Might go and watch Lady Chatterley's Lover with Sean 'Get thee in the shed' Bean.

scootermum · 18/02/2007 20:10

lillaura-I was wondering about the basket issues with the p and t.But then I never use the basket on my single that much.We live a good drive away from the nearest shop so I never have to walk that far with shopping on a regular basis really.
I will look at the Urban detour as well I think-but not sure on the side by side ones as the town we live nearest is quite narrow of pavement throughout and my friend who has twins said she struggled with her side by side when on the high st...

Ah decisions, decisions..

Fridge still growling at me.Shut up you bugger!(For some reason it isnt responding to verbal insults.I tried to reason with it earlier and it was having none of that either)

ShowOfHands · 18/02/2007 20:11

Oh FSF, that's so sad and so sweet. Poor boy, it's funny how things hit children like that- like suddenly realising their gender is fixed or that death is final or they can't fly no matter how much you want to (a realisation that shook me to my very core).

scootermum · 18/02/2007 20:16

SOH-I wouldnt go.It would drive me mad.Or else go and wear something completely outrageous and revealing that shows it all off and scandalize everyone there into silence!
FSF-Your ds has made me cry never mind you.Bless him..DH is looking at me suspiciously now.Think he fears me setting off again today.Alright for him.He has been on his back all day getting cups of tea and painkillers bought to him!

LupinsBigLump · 18/02/2007 20:18

Blimey - sounds like we are all having a bit of an emotional day - no tears hear yet (did that earlier in the week) but have been very stressed, grrrr at your mum soh - at least mine only said well you look rounder this time - bless her

FSF I think it is just something they go through at this age, dd goes on about when one of us dies (watches too much lion king) but we have a very open death policy, she has been coming to the cemetary since she was a baby, doesnt help having those conversations when you are hormonal

Will be back in a mo - she has cover her freshly bathed self with paint grrrrrrr

ShowOfHands · 18/02/2007 20:22

Scoot DH decided to de-frost our fridge a while ago with the aid of a knife. Broke some coolant seal thing, killed the fridge and I cried for about an hour. Ruined my jelly he did.

I'll pray for your poorly cooling device.

scootermum · 18/02/2007 20:35

It needs all the prayers it can get-everyone light a candle for it please..It is ticking suspiciously now as if it is going to blow up.I made dd tons of meals earlier as well,(in a bid to be supermummy and never to feed her jarred food again or somesuch).Would be just my luck for fridge freeze to die on me and it all to be ruined.
Gaaah.I even used my own home made stock for it all as well.Ruddy Annabel Karmel. The womans recipes are very good but there are certainly no shortcuts in them for the busy working Mama on a short fuse..
