Edie - you aren't the only one. I was standing in front of the mirror sucking my tummy in as hard as I could last night and it was STILL huge. Can't wait to get a proper bump and actually look pregnant rather than just chubby!

EdieMcredie · 21/02/2007 09:02

Oh good . No I think mine actually does look like a bump now thank god!!

EllieG · 21/02/2007 09:47

I have taken to wearing quite pregnancy-style tops so people aren't confused too. Am thinking of having a t-shirt made that says 'I'm not fat I'm up the duff' Or something similar.

EdieMcredie · 21/02/2007 11:02

Sounds like a good idea Ellie

spraklynewthing · 21/02/2007 11:12

laughing

Actually feeling generally a bit better this week anyway - have got over my cold at last.

Love the T shirt

FioFio, hope you manage to catch up on some sleep today.

TeeCee · 21/02/2007 12:00

Hi everyone,

Is anybody craving things they shouldn't be eating. I normally love sushi but its even worse at the moment. I just want a huge plate of yellowtail but everyone tells me I can't eat raw fish...if I had just a little bit would it really hurt?? Its the only semi-healthy food craving I have. (I think MN should have a sulky, hormonal emoticon, it would get used alot by me at the moment)

xx

oh and I would love a nice rare steak but dh keeps cooking mine till its burnt to a crisp, whilst his is nice and juicy

EdieMcredie · 21/02/2007 15:54

I keep eating cadburys caramel eggs

I think the danger with raw fish is food poisoning rather than any direct harm to your baby but I couldn't be sure so don't go eat some based on that!!

laksa · 21/02/2007 16:11

ooh me too, luurve cadbury creme eggs, just the other night I sent dh out for chocolate and he returned with some. I only like eating them slightly warm though

laksa · 21/02/2007 16:12

oops just read that you said caramel not creme...

sophus · 21/02/2007 16:42

sushi - ring the restaurant and ask if they prepare from frozen or fresh (most in this country prepare from frozen, in fact most in japan prepare from frozen). If so it is okay - the freezing kills the bad things. If fresh then it's a no-no. And how do Japanese sruvive as a race?
Constipation - yes. Never know anything like it. Fat - yes. Defnitely have a bump because sucking in does nothing, but unfortuantely that also means my arms, thighs, double chin and arse are hiding babies too. Am basically size of small bungalow - dread to think what i'd be like if i wasn't throwing up all the time.
I notice the october lot have a separate thread for stats - i would hate to think they were more organized than us...
Good think about having the world's stinkiest cold - you can't tell how bad your MS is.
love to one and all.

MMooMar · 21/02/2007 17:44

Hi Ladies ,

Congrats to all due in September...it will soon be upon us.
Hope you don`t mind me joining you all,Due 20th sept (MY calculations!)but waiting for my dating scan in 2 wks so it will probably change.
Got a DS aged 2 who was prem so really hoping to go f/term this time.Midwife has already whacked me with a downer on my booking in appointment, telling me that due to the fact that I will be 37 when this one arrives I may as well forefit the bloods and go straight for the amnio......GREAT!
Not looking forward to that, plus already worrying about the m/c factor with it.

Why do they love to scare the hell out of you?

MMooMar · 21/02/2007 17:49

Hi
Just wondering how many people having a nuchal scan. I'll have to pay but quite tempted. What does everyone else think? [need a confused face]

MrsMar · 21/02/2007 20:49

Hi CPink, I wasn't really asked, I was told "your nuchal scan is on march the 8th" I guess that's cos I'm 36. I'm terrified, it's two weeks tomorrow, but I haven't really thought beyond that. I actually will be relieved just to see a heartbeat!

jdd0709 · 21/02/2007 20:52

Hello

I would definitely recommend having one - the reassurance is great (assuming everything goes well) and they have a really good look at the baby. I had a nuchal with my first and nuchal and cvs with this one - but it is offered as standard on the NHS here in London. I guess it also depends on your age - I was 33 first time 35 second - if you are a fair bit younger you probably have less reason to be worried. I think it also depends on what type of person you are - the vast majority of babies come out absolutely normal irrespective of how many scans and tests you have, but some people are worriers / just have to know (us) - if you are more chilled out maybe no need?

Is it really not available routinely on the NHS where you are? - I think that is very unfair - it is the old postcode lottery. I know it is £200 or so at the Fetal Medicine Centre in Harley Street if you decide you want one and have to go private.
