six hope the bleeding stays away tomorrow.

I'm just taking 400mg of Holland & Barrett's folic acid so far, I only started taking them at the weekend. Prior to this I hadn't taken preconception for months so I hope everything is going ok in there!

I read somewhere earlier that you need to be careful with vit D as too much can harm the foetus? I didn't realise we need to be taking this too...

HelloMist · 19/10/2016 00:26

Dragon, I know Boots have an own brand at the right level. Quite cheap :) Some of the others I've seen were plus calcium or were a bit high (12.5 mcg) like Tesco's one.

Dizzy perhaps what you read was about vitamin A? This is why we aren't meant to eat liver (high levels of vitamin A). Don't think vitamin D can cause harm as long as you take it at the recommended level, 10 micrograms, and not far too much.

northernquavers · 19/10/2016 00:28

I think I'm on the spreadsheet! Have thrown up this evening which is a first. Have been having the nausea when hungry but nothing more then this evening I drank a non-alcoholic Kopperberg cider that DH brought from supermarket as a treat for me after coming home from a work do (where I sat with one glass of wine all evening which was subsequently tipped down the sink in the toilets) so not sure whether it was too sugary and that triggered something maybe. Interesting to hear about different experiences of EPU in different places.

MumofthreeandBean · 19/10/2016 07:42

We don't even have an EPU !?! Damn rural Norfolk!!

I'm taking pregnacare - I don't like them, will finish this pack and just take a folic acid - hubby said I should start eating properly if I don't want to take the pregnacare, but I feel so sick, I am eating but when it suits and not always the best things 🙄

Midwife tmw 😊 Then telling the rest of the family.

8weeks today

Mummy2squish · 19/10/2016 08:20

Ladies I have a confession. I'm addicted to peeing on sticks!! I've done 11 tests since last Friday (most of which are internet cheapies) BlushBlush

So I felt sick for the first time today my lower abdomen also feels really warm! I'm hoping that's a positive! I really don't remember looking into everything with such detail with DS!

Docs appointment today. Will hopefully be referred for my thyroid antenatal clinic.

Also was anyone on metformin before they conceived? I was told by my doc if I get pregnant to continue with it initially, not sure how long for though!

Dragon5000 · 19/10/2016 08:33

The drive to work sponsored by Salt and vinegar pringles

DizzyNorthernBird · 19/10/2016 08:57

mist I'm sure it said vitamin A and D, I knew about A so I was surprised when it mentioned D too. I'll try and find the article I was reading to check what it said.

dragon have you tried Holland & Barratt, they seem to have the biggest range of vits plus they usually have one of their offers on.

mummy hope your appointment goes ok & the nausea passes. That's interesting about the heat on your abdomen, the other day I was aware of a really strong pulse in that area when I was sitting quietly. Hopefully these are signs that there's a lot going on in that area!

5+1 today. Ovia says baby is now the size of a peppercorn. When I scroll back through the updates, a week ago it was a poppy seed. This is my first so I'm in awe of how fast things progress, can't get my head around it really! Went out for dinner last night and was so bloated afterwards, will the bloating go away or can I expect it to stick around until I start to show? My work trousers are already feeling tight!

DizzyNorthernBird · 19/10/2016 08:58

Mmmmm Pringles. I've always been rather partial to the bbq and the sour cream & chive flavours. So addictive!

PropagatingaPanda · 19/10/2016 08:59

Marking place on new thread and also changed username- previously somethinghadtobedone. Need to update spreadsheet though...

babyand · 19/10/2016 09:08

Morning ladies! I had my doc app yesterday she done a pregnancy test, weighed me and took my Bp and booked me in for bloods. Sent off my letter to the hospital for a scan. And charged me €50! Expensive pregnancy test!

I'm sitting every morning waiting to get the pang of nausea that didn't leave me for 28 weeks on dd!

I wish we could see the previous posts when replying as I always forget the usernames :(

Doc recommended vitiman d and folic acid. Said pregnacare etc are a big marketing scam!

haveacupoftea · 19/10/2016 09:20

I have been reading this morning about how babys taste buds develop around 7-8 weeks and they get used to what you eat and that factors in what they'll eat when they're weaning! I really need to start eating more proper dinners with veg!

Feel a tiny bit sicky and boobs are sore again.

peaceloveandbiscuits · 19/10/2016 09:32

Weaning is a nightmare, eat whatever you want right now and try not to think about the horror to come Grin

I had an early scan this morning to follow up on some strong cramping this weekend. Definitely pregnant! All in the right place, but too early to see more than gestational sac and yolk sac so they have scheduled me for another scan in two weeks to check everything is progressing as it should. I'm happy enough with that, I didn't really expect to see a heartbeat or anything this early but it's given me some reassurance (not only that all is in the right place but that there's only one in there!).

FlashingLights · 19/10/2016 10:17

I've just been for my bloods. The EPU at my hospital is fab, they also have a walk in clinic. I was there for a total of 2hrs the other day, including waiting with 9 people ahead of me. I was only there for 10minutes today! I asked the nurse if she could possibly phone me any earlier today!

I've also been POAS constantly for reassurance mummy2squish - my line is getting darker so that makes me feel a little reassured but I am still symptom-less

Dragon5000 · 19/10/2016 10:19

Ordinarily I'm a sour cream girl but apparently I'm only allowed to eat Salt and vinegar flavour things atm!

NappingRabbit · 19/10/2016 10:50

Damn it now I want some salt and vinegar crisps. Preferably Pringles or Hula Hoops

DizzyNorthernBird · 19/10/2016 10:56

Beef hula hoops.

flashing how far along are you? I'm still not really getting symptoms either. Might poas myself tomorrow just to check it's still there. It's probably just too early for me though.

Looks like I'll be picking up some vit D when I'm shopping today then.

napping that's great to hear your scan went well.

FlashingLights · 19/10/2016 11:31

dragon and napping my mum practically survived on salt & vinegar crisps all the way through pregnancy and I can't bear the smell or taste - I'm sure that's the reason!

Glad to hear the scan went well napping

dizzy 6 today by LMP but I think I ovulated very late so I think that's quite off. I had an emergency scan on Monday and they couldn't see anything so that would add up to me being less. What about you?

I've been taking the Superdrug own brand Folic Acid & Vit D. Vit D is meant to be continued the entirety of pregnancy and through breastfeeding too - Sure start also offer free Vit D if anyone is eligible

Mummy2squish · 19/10/2016 11:38

Totally freaked myself out. Brought my son to a local farm and suddenly remembered there's a bit of risk when pregnant. We haven't touched any animals and I'm using alcohol gel (he looked at them mainly the rabbits but is more interested in the play area) so I'm assuming it will be fine? I'm a serial worrier so this is really gonna help!!

Sixisthemagicnumber · 19/10/2016 12:19

When I was pregnant last time the midwife advised me to take a pregnancy multivitamin rather than vit d and folic acid. I am following that advice again and just using the tesco own brand pregnancy multivitamin with folic acid as it only costs £3 a pack or buy 3 for price of 2.

peaceloveandbiscuits · 19/10/2016 12:44

Mummy as long as you didn't lick any animals and washed your hands thoroughly (with hot water and soap, not just gel), then you'll be fine.

OP posts:
Dragon5000 · 19/10/2016 12:57

I went to a farm at the weekend just wash your hands after touching and be sensible around food.
I had an allergic reaction to spaghetti hoops whilst pregnant and now my son can't eat them

Mommytobe2017 · 19/10/2016 13:08

I'm glad it's not just me who wants to poas constantly just to make sure it's still there aha

Slightly regretting the choice of soup for lunch. I'm still not having nausea but I'm paranoid that I'm going to be sick at work...

Hope everyone is doing ok Smile

Masweetpea1 · 19/10/2016 13:11

Also regretting my choice of lunch. I went to mcdonalds Blush very nauseous more, serves me right!

peaceloveandbiscuits · 19/10/2016 13:14

YABU ma, McDonalds fries are the cure for my nausea.
