Does anyone know when booking in/scan appointments usually come through?

I will struggle to get time off work with less than about a month's notice... and I know work have to give me time off to go to appointments but it's really important that they don't know because my contract is up for renewal at the end of the year.

I'm 5+4 by OV dates but they are going off LMP which puts me at 6+2... so creeping ever closer to the 8 weeks they said my booking in would be at...

Lovely of you to join us Element. Everything crossed for a happy and healthy nine months and beyond. Farmer I went to the gp when I first got my bfp then got the letter from the midwife to book in about a week later. I just had to phone them to arrange the appointment. Not sure how everywhere else works? Hope you get sorted soon. So exiting for your scan Flashing! Post a pic for us Smile
Hope your first appointment goes well Skee. Had mine yesterday and I think it makes it all feel more real.

Big hugs to you element and welcome Flowers
So the morning sickness has started, I'd totally forgotten this from the first time round. DS woke up about 4am this morning and sprang out of bed to give him a cuddle, and the whole room seemed to be spinning! I just feel really sea sick...couldn't face coffee this morning, so onto tea, although as a bonus the boys at work had made bacon sarnies by the time I came in this morning and that seemed to be just the tonic I needed! Grin

Anyone else desperate to tell people already? I'm only 5+1 and have only known for a week...DH and I have decided to wait to tell anyone until after our 12 week scan so that we know that everything is tip top with baby, but I'm so excited! I can feel it all trying to bubble out of me! We only got married 4 weeks ago too, and everyone is already asking if it will be a baby next!

I saw GP on Monday (he really didn't understand why receptionist had booked me to see him, he thought I had some problems or wanted to talk to him about somethign specifically) was a bit of a waste of time really, but managed to get a booking in with the midwife at 7+0 which is earlier than I thought it would be Smile

DizzyNorthernBird · 26/10/2016 11:00

Morning! Thanks for yesterday's birthday wishes!

element welcome & sorry for your losses. Here's to a strong & healthy pregnancy X

I'm thinking about calling my gp's today to see if there's any earlier appointments available, it's frustrating that so many of you are already having booking in appointments and I won't even see my GP to get referred until I'm 9+2! I'm also starting to worry about my lack of symptoms. My boobs still hurt but I've gone from having mild cramping in my uterus, to a feeling of fullness, to a feeling of nothing. I know it's still really early but it's unnerving when everything is telling you you should be starting to feel nauseous and fatigued etc. Ok I do feel slightly rough but that could be just from my late shifts......

Or am I just worrying about nothing? I said I wouldn't but I'm now starting to wonder if an early scan might be a good idea after all?

DizzyNorthernBird · 26/10/2016 11:03

olivers have you told no one at all? I wouldn't be able to cope with that either! I'm so glad my parents and DP's family know because I would just burst otherwise! I keep swinging between wanting to tell my boss and then not telling him too, it's so difficult knowing what's the right thing to do.

MumofthreeandBean · 26/10/2016 11:17

Welcome element love and hugs to you Flowers

oliversmummy26 · 26/10/2016 11:26

Dizzy I would call the GP and push for an earlier appointment, I was told when I booked my midwife appointment that I needed to be seen before 10 weeks, there are screening tests that need to be done before then and if you're seeing the DP at 9+2 there might not be enough time?

Nope, not told a soul! We want to tell my DS first but not until we know everything is okay as he would tell everyone once he knows! I might have to tell my boss though if the scan is at an awkward time as it's a 1.5 hour round trip to the hospital for us!

I had a funny feeling the other day too where I didn't feel like I had any symptoms, and a very achey tummy, though since I think that was wind! Maybe take another test if you're feeling worried? That and today's hideous nausea has made me feel better Smile

oliversmummy26 · 26/10/2016 11:26

The chances are that everything will be fine dizzy it's just such a long time to wait when you find out so early 12 weeks seems an age away!

oliversmummy26 · 26/10/2016 11:27

PS. I'm considering telling the midwife that I'm a week ahead, might get my scan a bit earlier as I want to be able to tell everyone in time for Christmas..?

Also my SIL has just announced that she's having a girl, I am so desperate to tell the world!!

DizzyNorthernBird · 26/10/2016 11:39

I've just spoken to my surgery, they've said that 9 weeks is fine and my midwife referral will be very quick, I'll receive a phone call to arrange a home appointment. So I shall stop worrying for now!

Also after moaning about lack of symptoms I've just been retching whilst brushing my teeth. Should have kept my mouth shut hey Confused Blush

What is everyone doing about flu jabs? The receptionist at the surgery said the midwife will sort this out for me as I won't qualify until I'm so many weeks. Was just wondering whether to pay for one at boots or lloyds, they're only about a tenner I think?

HazyHazyJeans · 26/10/2016 11:40

olivers I don't know how you're managing not to tell anyone! I wish I had your restraint. We've told all our parents except my dad (I'm seeing him tomorrow so will tell him then). My sister also knows.

dizzy 9+2 does sound quite late to not even be referred although maybe it can move very quickly from that appointment? Maybe best to give your GP surgery a call.

It's self-referral to the mw here so I did that this morning. It's actually a great system, I don't know why other areas don't do it that way. Booking in is 15th November (still feels like AGES). I also booked my early scan for 12th November when I'll be exactly 8 weeks. Starting to feel real now!!

Starting to feel really nauseous now too. Not yet on the beige diet though. DH and I are going out to a Chinese for lunch & I cannot wait! Grin

HazyHazyJeans · 26/10/2016 11:41

Oh sorry cross post dizzy. Glad you've got it sorted

DizzyNorthernBird · 26/10/2016 11:42

Now I'm feeling sick & doing big burbs. Why oh why did I have to moan? Lol

DizzyNorthernBird · 26/10/2016 11:48

Thanks hazy, I can't believe how the procedure can differ so much between different areas. Your way sounds much better. Although I'm liking the fact I'll get a home visit from the midwife here. I've been a bit beige here since the weekend, really need to get back onto green if I can! Yesterday was a massive junk fest for my birthday, I grazed on tesco mini cakes the whole evening at work!

oliversmummy26 · 26/10/2016 11:57

Glad you've got it sorted Dizzy!

Hazy it's not easy I can tell you! DH family live away, so I rarely see them which makes it easier, but I see my parents every week as they look after DS after school on Mondays. I remember my SIL telling people at 8 weeks and I thought that's so early, what if something goes wrong, I'm terrified of having to untell people, as something like that I'd rather keep between DH and myself and tell people at a later date when I felt ready I think..

I expect it will come out a little sooner, but really hope we get our scan quickly!

oliversmummy26 · 26/10/2016 11:58

Oh and all beige food here. cups of tea and ginger biscuits at the moment..

Mommytobe2017 · 26/10/2016 12:13

Welcome element. FlowersSmile

I can be your buddy too with vegan Grin

I was dreaming last night about secretly buying mat clothes.

At my parents house atm with my younger sister. We've chosen not to tell our siblings till the scan but it's so hard.

I'm surprised she hasn't asked while I'm sitting here stuffing my face Blush
