One thing I'm worrying about already is my parents and DPs Mom fighting over who sees bean first.

I've already had issues with DP when I said I'd want my Mom to come to appts if he couldn't make it. He will be able to, thank goodness! He wanted his Mom to come with me.

Have any of you had this problem? I just want to get on with it. We're having a child not something that lasts a few days so they'll both have plenty of time to spend with him/her...

Trying not to think about it tbh

MoonlightMojitos · 25/10/2016 17:50

mommy oh I'm already dreading these things lol, dp's mum is very clingy to him and stuff and I know she's going to be a nightmare around the baby. I definately want my mum there when I'm in labour (and dp obvs) and really don't want MIL but I know she will be upset, which I guess is understandable, but I can already see trouble ahead! It's my mums first grandchild too whereas MIL already has 2 from dp's brother.

Also, I completely forgot my step brother gets married next June abroad. I wasn't going anyway but mum was and she's just realised it's the week after my due date so now is planning on not going. Feel a bit bad but they're not very close (brother in law was already older from dad's previous marriage when my parents met so she didn't see much of him) it was more out of politeness really. Hope they don't mind too much but like I said it's her first grandchild and she doesn't want to miss it if I go overdue!

Not much to report here, still feel crappy and sick and starving all the time. I was told in work today I have to do a client meeting week after next so I'm considering telling my manager to get out of it. I HATE meetings as it is and get really anxious so the thought of a several hours long meeting when feeling sick all day and needing to pee every half an hour is going to make me even worse. I'm worried I'll have to keep excusing myself!

Flashing How lovely that you are offered an extra growth scan! We don't in our Primary Care Trust so I last saw DD at the Anomoly Scan at 20 weeks!

Oh no Napping Rabbit colds are awful. Do you have the Calpol plugin? It really helps. That and drying wet washing in his room if he has a cough.

I agree with peace, have, I was chomping at the bit to go back to work, when DD was 11 months, so worry about any decisions long after Baby is here xx

mrspage please don't worry-you'll have the standard NHS tests which are still more advanced than about 5 years ago (Nuchal fold measurements for example) and then you can make a decision if you want to go for further tests if something isn't quite right from that.

Moonlight-you can't have more than two people in the delivery room and only one person, if you have a caesarean, so your MiL can go whistle!!

I bloody hate constipation....

HazyHazyJeans · 25/10/2016 19:03

haveacup I got really good Maternity pay from my work & never went back. I didn't have to pay anything back to them. I know of some employers where you have to go back for X number of weeks but it's definitely not all. Plus as you say, if it's just SMP then you definitely won't have to pay it back.

My mum would've liked to have been there for DD being born but I spoke to DH about it and he wanted it to just be the two/three of us. I think he felt she'd take over (which she would!). So we just had all the parents to our house when we got home. I actually have a great relationship with my MIL but it was strained when DD was newborn Confused we got through it though!

Skee · 25/10/2016 19:12

Evening everyone!

HaPpY BiRThDaY Dizzy! Hope you've had a lovely day Halloween Smile (I also hope that I've wished the right person a HBD - I had a lot to catch up on Halloween Blush)

Also, absolutely bloody raging for how rude people have been!! Tell them to Foxtrot Oscar and mind their chuffing business Halloween Angry Sorry you've had to put up with that rubbish ladies, hugs x

Well, I'm struggling. I'm a rep, and spend hours on the road driving to shops to do staff training (probably outing myself here, Halloween Blush) I'm leaving the house at 6am to drive for hours to get to appointments, rush through session, jump in the van and drive to next appointment and so on... the nausea is so difficult, I'm paranoid about running out of a session to vomit. I really don't know how I'm going to cope with this for weeks on end... 😢

HazyHazyJeans · 25/10/2016 19:20

Oh Skee that does sound tough Sad remember the nausea doesn't last the whole pregnancy (for the vast majority of people anyway) so you just need to get through another few weeks. I know that probably still feels like ages just now! The only thing I found helped last time was eating constantly. Luckily I was at a desk so I just kept a packet of biscuits in my drawer & ate them all day!

Happy birthday Dizzy!

We told DH's parents today. They were so happy, FIL cried! Ha ha! Bless him

Just been and had a scan :) little bean in there, heart beating away! They measured it at 6+4, and from my LMP am 7+0 today so all fits! Not twins either phew!

Skee · 25/10/2016 20:20

Aww thanks Hazy, I know you're right, I'm just on a wee downer tonight because I've got another 5am start tomorrow and back to back appointments... for the next 2 months. Fingers crossed it's only for another few weeks max!

What lovely news about telling your in-laws! Halloween Smile

Congrats Anna!

Dragon5000 · 25/10/2016 20:44

I get 6 weeks 90% pay and 5months half pay and of I don't go back I have to pay it back
They give us the option of not taking it though and if we do go back we get it on a lump sum which would be crazy helpful if I could afford to do that!

Put a hair band through the button hole of your trousers and then the band over the button, gives you some extra room in your trousers.

Nausea seems to have gone but replaced with excessive burping all morning! I swear I keep feeling baby moving

userabcname · 25/10/2016 21:13

God this morning sickness is getting worse and worse...I am now throwing up at least once everyday ( today I have thrown up four times) and really struggling with aversions - nothing seems able to stay down and I feel sick even thinking about most foods and drinks. I have tried ginger, sea bands, snacking on bland food...nothing seems to help. Anyone have any other remedies I could try?

VeganMama83 · 25/10/2016 21:16

My work pay isn't anything fab but better than the standard 6 weeks full pay then smp that I got in my old job. This time i will get full pay for 14 weeks then smp. Smp happens to be what I earn without overtime so it doesn't make any difference to me. I only work 17.5 hours per week xx

Skee · 25/10/2016 21:25

Aww Katniss, sorry to hear you're rough. Recently, when I've really struggled to settle my stomach, I've tried a sip of Gaviscon and actually found it quite soothing.

I'm wearing my travel bands constantly, just taking them off to shower - I don't know if they're helping, but I'm too scared to take them off to find out! Also given up on ginger, it seems to have made no difference to me and I think I'm just creating a lifelong aversion to it now...

MumofthreeandBean · 25/10/2016 21:27

Sorry katniss can't help with the sickness xx

I am self employed so maternity pay doesn't exist but I've been told something about smp that I may be entitled to, I will have to look into it. I don't work full time hours anyway

userabcname · 25/10/2016 21:29

Thanks skee - I will get some gaviscon and see if it helps.

MoonlightMojitos · 25/10/2016 21:29

Sorry katniss and skee that you're feeling so bad :(. Have either of you tried peppermint? Probably won't help if ginger etc havnt but maybe worth a try? I'm feeling sick all day long but only being sick once or twice which I can put up with. At least being sick brings me some relief for half hour or so before I feel crap again...

Congrats on the scan anna!

Skee · 25/10/2016 22:13

Good shout mojitos! I'll pick some up tomorrow!

May this be the magic cure I've been looking for Halloween Smile

Masweetpea1 · 25/10/2016 22:45

haveacup I'm an employment law consultant, so you can quote me! If you just receive smp you definitely don't have anything to pay anything back!
mumofthree, i think you're referring to maternity allowance, its definitely worth looking into.
Great news anna

Masweetpea1 · 25/10/2016 22:46

No idea why i wrote 'anything' twice, i blame the tiredness!!

Sixisthemagicnumber · 25/10/2016 22:57

mumofthree that will be maternity allowance that you are entitled to claim if you are self employed

haveacupoftea · 25/10/2016 23:31

Thanks a million masweetpea how fab to have an employment law consultant amongst us Grin

Mooseville · 26/10/2016 06:45

Sorry to all you feeling rough. Luckily my queasiness seems to have died down which is good as I'm on a course this week, but bad as I'm now worrying about no symptoms again!
Put my back out yesterday so I'm waffling around clutching my back like I'm 9month pregnant. I hope this isn't a sign of it staying like thatcyge whole time! Bit gutted as I'd planned to swim everyday while I was in this hotel and I've skipped it today to avoid the pain of getting changed.

Bought a load of maternity clothes on ASOS yesterday! Excited to try them on!

MumofthreeandBean · 26/10/2016 07:34

Thankyou masweetpea and six.that is what I meant 😂 Will look into it.

Still waiting for my scan date, I hate waiting!!

Tomorrow I am taking my sons football team to a scary Halloween park - it states everywhere no pregnant ladies - I'm guessing it's for the more heavily pregnant lady, incase of falling or scaring into labour 🤔 We booked it so long ago I didn't know I was pregnant then!
None of the adults know yet and I don't plan to tell them so I think I will just have to be careful.

9 weeks today!

Dragon5000 · 26/10/2016 07:41

I woke up in the night and thought - no that's my OMP not SMP. SMP is yours and yours alone they do t take that back.

I often wonder abput the rides and pregnant and how pregnant they mean. But there are people who don't even know they're pregnant at this stage and so do everything, as long as you feel OK and don't do anything crazy I'd say go for it but I'm generally like that! I'm gutted as we promised ds lego land for his birthday but I'll be 7 months and so won't go on anything :'(

9 weeks today and the size of a cherry so my app woke me up to tell me!

MumofthreeandBean · 26/10/2016 08:29

dragon no rides luckily, just very scary people dressed up to scare you, clowns, insane, murderers and stuff, my sister went and was incredibly scared yet her friend laughed all the time, who knows how I will find it but I won't be running away from anyone!

element19 · 26/10/2016 08:30

Hi ladies, newbie here and I'd love to join in. I'm glad I have found you and you all seem like a lovely bunch. I've been around on MN for years on the infertility, miscarriage and then sadly the bereavement forums (when DS passed away earlier this year at 5 weeks old) so have name changed as need a new start and a positive outlook for this pregnancy. Or at least a positive outlook when I am not vomming! I'm looking forward to the sport we will all give each other along the way.
