Lol im on the list, due 25th. Mayb santa reckons this baby is too naughty..

Keep going to pack my bag but get overwhelmed with all the stuff i have and need to pack. Just keep closing door over so i cant see. But at least i now have everything i need so if anything were to happen i can just grab everything.
Dont know what size clothes to pack for baby, first size or 0-3!?

Currently have my heart monitor on, bloody awkward. Haven't a clue how im gona sleep with it on.

oriana rather you than me with the octopus. Im sure you will be grand. DH bought mussels and whole fish today but thats up to him to cook, couldnt face that..

StubbleTurnips · 02/11/2016 15:30

Nojo hope you get some rest with your heart monitor on.

I've just taken DD on a 2 mile stroll along the canal with the dog, I dosed up on paracetamol pre walk so hopefully my hips won't hurt too badly in a bit. I've decided that walking will shift this one down unlike DD who remained at -4 position through labour hence forceps. Can't wait to get rid of the bump / pelvis pain!

I think we're sorted now for T2s arrival, did some washing and sorting yesterday. The next 4 weekends are stupidly busy so need to get them and work out of the way!

Bella1985 · 02/11/2016 16:00

Thanks for the updated list kitkat I can't quite believe how well you're managing to keep that list up to date - you're doing a fantastic job!

Theaks · 02/11/2016 16:01

I still haven't finished my bag yet (well small suitcase). It's so full, and I still haven't packed my clothing! How's it all going to fit in!! Nightmare!

Londonmamabychance · 02/11/2016 16:08

Oriana I think the advice is that you can have 200 mg of caffeine a day, it's like 1 1/2 cups of filter cofee or two instant cups, or two mugs of tea. I tend to allow myself one cup of tea in the morning and sometimes one in the afternoon too. And when I was feeling really rubbish some months ago I drank like 3 cups of filter coffee a day! My mum said when she was pregnant with me she drank 5-6 cups of filter coffee a day! Shock I know this was differen times and all, but just to say, I think a bit of coffee is alright, especially if you have the excuse of needing to poo! ; )

I'm 34 + 4 and haven't even thought of packing my hospital bag Wink will do it when I'm off work at the end of next week. Last time I just stayed in hospital one night, and hardly used anything from the bag! I left in the clothes I arrived in, and all the rest of the time I just mooched around in an oversize t shirt and some mismatched pyjama pants Grin I think I didn't have the energy to locate my flip flops which were somewhere in the bag. DD only used one babygrow, the one she was out in immedaitely after being born, the hospital gave me maternity pads and my breasts didn't leak so didn't need any breast pads. I'm probably tempting fate by being so relaxed about what to pack and when to pack, but my expereince last time was I didn't need a lot of stuff. Oh, also, I thought all hospitals provided towels?

Londonmamabychance · 02/11/2016 16:14

PS: Cheese is the absolute worst for my heartburn, had pizza a few weeks back and it kept me awake all night. Pizza definitely off limits till after the baby is born!

Oh, also, had mw appointment yesterday and measuring 1 cm small for my dates. MW wasn't at all worried though and said when it's only 1 cm nothing to stress about. Anyone else measuring small? Does it for sure indicate a smaller baby?

StubbleTurnips · 02/11/2016 16:37

I couldn't survive without cheese this time round london, currently eating lumps of cheddar while cooking dinner Blush
I got indigestion with cucumber earlier! Butter gives me terrible heartburn though, toast with butter and jam / marmite are fond memories at the moment.

goinggrey1978 · 02/11/2016 16:38

Londonmamabychance, peppermint gavicon is your friend, then you can eat whatever you like again, i was scared to take it at first but my very good friend who is 6 weeks ahead of me said to try it and i did and it worked!!

TinyTickler · 02/11/2016 16:38

Random one but are people buying toys / books ahead of the baby arriving? I know hey won't be able to play with them / appreciate books but idiot know what the "done thing" is...

SouthDownsSunshine · 02/11/2016 16:39

London 1cm is minimal, that could just be baby's position. I measured small for dd throughout the pregnancy and she was just fine :)

Well done on keeping the lists up to date kitkat!

StubbleTurnips · 02/11/2016 16:41

DD has bought the baby a gift, otherwise I'd kept hold of all her baby toys and books which we've sorted.

Popskipiekin · 02/11/2016 17:03

London I'm the same, 1cm "small" for dates, for the first time ever. Midwife totally unbothered. I think I've read that different midwives do measure in different ways... I'm not sure it's the best way of telling tbh! Do you have another scan soon? I'll have one at just over 36 weeks and will know a bit better then.

Bumplovin · 02/11/2016 17:18

Ive got a couple of black and white soft books as ready baby can only see black/ white initiAlly, ive bout about 5 or 6 books including the snow man, I still plan to read to her even though I know she won't understand yet but she will know my voice

DartmoorDoughnut · 02/11/2016 17:57

nojo I'm just packing new baby size, DS was 9lb 4oz and those fitted him just fine so I think anything bigger will swamp most newborns!

Whoever mentioned pizza DARN YOU! I now want pizza

wilfrhodes · 02/11/2016 18:14

i don't really know how they can tell in much detail based on fundal height. surely the position of the baby, the placenta and the shape of the mother all make it too variable to be an objective assessment? i think if they were really worried, they'd send you for a scan, londonmama.

unrelated to that, i had a belated growth scan today (31 weeks - should have been booked for one at 28) and all within normal range except long bones, which are three weeks ahead! a colleague at work has suggested it might be a good idea to invest in footless sleepsuits...

gone a bit bingey on the food this week so will need to do lots of walking to compensate. i've found that walking helps with my (very mild) spd, so i feel very sorry reading about those of you for whom nothing seems to help.

first antenatal class today. got free vitamins, due to where i live, which was interesting, given my gp's refusal to renew my hospital prescription for same Hmm.

Bigfam · 02/11/2016 19:30

Just got back from a&e, I feel like absolute shit. Managed to dislocate dd3's elbow on the way home from school when I pulled her away from the road Sad the poor little thing was in tears until they manipulated it back into place, she's only just got over the tonsillitis as well!

DartmoorDoughnut · 02/11/2016 19:44

Oh bloody hell bigfam poor both of you Sad Wine for you and Cake for her. Good save though, better a sore elbow than the alternative

Nojo82 · 02/11/2016 19:49

Oh dear bigfam that happened ds1 when his dad pulled his arm to prevent him falling downstairs. It did unfortunately happen a few times after that again..

Babydreaming · 02/11/2016 19:59

London mama do not stress about that! My measurements have differed so dramatically I don't think they are accurate at all. About 10 days ago I measured 3cm small and then another midwife measured me yesterday and told me I was 1cm too big! I really don't trust them at all, scans are way more accurate. I know it makes you worried though!

Bigfam · 02/11/2016 20:17

I'll have to save that Wine for after the baby arrives dartmoor Wink
Yes, the alternative doesn't bare thinking about. Am now in bed with a hell of a headache.

Sorry to hear from everyone else who a struggling, think it's Flowers all round

Bigfam · 02/11/2016 20:18

*is

goinggrey1978 · 02/11/2016 20:25

TinyTickler, yes i have 2 books given to bubble by a lovely friend, also some books i picked up from asda, some mostly board books from the nct nearly new sale, a pram one i got when i got the nutbrown hare and book from waterstones, i have 2 lamaze clip on toys, the snake lamaze toy that goes round the handle of the car seat, the play mat and gym bars and various other story books i've collected over the years as i work with children, some of these things i'm going to wrap up and put under the tree so bubble has something for christmas!!

KitKat1985 · 02/11/2016 20:25

Oh BigFam you poor thing. Far better than what could have happened though, but must have been very distressing all the same.

Londonmama I really wouldn't worry about 1cm. It's a very rough guide anyway as depends on so many factors, and a couple of cm either way would still put you within the normal range boundaries. With DD1 I was on the 70-80th centile for fundal height so I was worried she was going to be big, and then when she was born she was only on the 25th centile line for weight!

OP posts:
Londonmamabychance · 02/11/2016 22:13

Thanks everyone for reassuring me about the 1 cm, feel a lot better now! Also think it seems a bit like a v rough guide given its just measuring with a measuring tape! Excited to see how big the baby will actually be once he's out : )

Poor you, bigfam what we don't end up doing in the attempt to protect our children! Could have happened to anyone Flowers hope you and DD feel better.

tinytickler I had some soft and colourful and black and white books and board books for DD right from birth, I used to put them up in her cot and in her buggy so she had something to look at Smile not sure how much it meant to her but I did see her looking at them so guess it can't harm Smile she also seemed to enjoy a mobile pretty much from 1 month old. She didn't start taking an interest in baby gym/ soft toys etc until around 3 months I'd say. Will probably just be using the same things around the same time for the new baby.

barkingtreefrog · 03/11/2016 04:47

Oh bigfam that must have been awful for both of you Flowers

I've not even got a wardrobe for her clothes or packed my hospital bag yet, let alone toys and books! It's so close to Xmas though I'm reluctant to get much in case family buy her the same stuff for presents!
