oriana that sounds tough! Must be hard with your DH's health issues on top of pregnancy. But in my experience, if you have such strong feelings about something and don't talk about it, it'll end up coming out in an unconstructive way. Especially when pregnant and emotional! Wink

I did not get a wink of sleep last night. Literally was awake every second of the entire night. This morning felt completely out of it and have had to call in sick to work Sad feel awful about it, hate letting work down. Anyone else suffering from
Insomnia that isn't even caused by any pain?? I just lie there wide awake but in no pain!

Thanks for all your advice on cleaning, it's made me rethink letting the cleaner go. Maybe better to tights belts elsewhere. Also, said to my mum on the phone yesterday (she's coming over two weeks before due date and to stay until
Christmas (!)) that I was thinking to let the cleaner go and that hopefully she could help with the cleaning if I was incapacitated after the birth. And she was like yeah, sure...completely apprehensive Hmm remembered that although she's AMAZING with kids and will spend the entire day playing with DD and probably looking after the baby as much as he'll let her, and will also rescue all my plants, she really loathes cleaning. And given that she's doing me a massive favour coming to help out for almost here weeks maybe it's better not to make cleaning an issue.

Popskipiekin · 31/10/2016 12:23

londonmama that's awful, awake the whole night? I have to listen to something to get me to sleep actually - like a radio play/comedy show etc. Have you tried that?
Grin best to play to your mum's strengths in that case!

Thisisbonkers · 31/10/2016 12:47

I'm tired, grumpy and irritable. DP is generally very good but we had a steaming row yesterday. I think we're both just nervous and apprehensive about what's coming. I'd love to get some sleep though.

I'm fretting about names and I'm fretting that I don't yet have a changing bag. Because the latter is so important! I've got the small suitcase down from the loft so I can start putting my hospital stuff together. Not convinced it's all going to fit Confused

wetpebbles · 31/10/2016 13:19

I have packed my hospital bag early so I can repack it a few times to get it just right. Last baby 18 months ago I didn't take enough underwear so extra going in this time.
Can't wait until baby arrives as I have been on the loo most of this pregnancy as baby pressing on bladder up 5+ times in the night. I'm looking forward to getting a more comfortable sleep anyway.
Bits and bobs definitely swollen and sore, am doing kegels to keep
pressure off and putting feet up whenever I can.
Smile

TipBoov · 31/10/2016 14:39

Eeek I think I've lost my mucus plug... I'm only 35 weeks. Have been googling but now I'm really scared. Hope this isn't labour because my house is like a building site Sad

SolomanDaisy · 31/10/2016 15:58

Wow tipboov, that must be nerve wracking. I hope it's not the start of labour for you. If it is, try not to worry too much. Your baby will be in hospital for at least a couple of weeks, so there's plenty of time for the builders to finish. And babies born at 35 weeks do really well.

Fizzyjo · 31/10/2016 16:36

Just wondered if anyone joined the 'my John Lewis nursery'. I was told that they offer a money off voucher and we plan to go tomorrow to get car seat and isofix. I've joined yesterday but had no email or anything. Anyone know whether I should expect something and what discounts you get as could hang on and get the car stuff with a discount if need be? Thanks!

Babydreaming · 31/10/2016 16:49

Fizzyjo I had a John Lewis nursery appointment where they took me around the store and talked me through the products and created a list for me that I could then buy later. I didn't get any money off though...just a voucher for free coffee/cake!

Fizzyjo · 31/10/2016 18:41

Oh thanks. I can probably live without the free coffee and cake (silently crying). I've got most other bits so hopefully they have the car seat etc in stock!

wetpebbles · 31/10/2016 19:50

Tipboov I had my second son at 35 weeks, I took him home the next day as his was 5.5lb and didn't need any help.

goinggrey1978 · 31/10/2016 20:24

wetpebbles, i was talking about the need for some special pregnant lady bed attached to the loo today at work as i feel i spend my life in there, every hour and half to 2 hours during the night and a lot more frequently during the day, sometimes depending how tired i am the longest stretch of sleep i get is just 5 hours!!

on a plus note i finished work today and i'm now officially on maternity leave!! a very good friend and colleague said to me on the way home how are you feeling about work being finished as she knew i was sad about it to begin with, i said it's just a relief that it's all over and there's no more alarm clock and i have plenty to do and i will pop in to visit everyone too, yes i'll miss the children but it's the right thing to do, my focus on what's important has completely changed over the past week and i've got my head around looking after me and bubble and not worrying about work and missing everyone!! as my headmistress has said i'm welcome to visit any time i want!!

TipBoov · 31/10/2016 20:32

The backache has gone and the braxton hicks have subsided, so I'm just trying to relax now and make sure I get an early night just incase. I definitely panicked a bit when I saw the plug though, but accordingn to google it doesn't necessarily mean labour is imminent.

Thanks soloman, how are you getting on?

fizzy I didn't get any money off vouchers, but if you register for a partnership card (a John Lewis credit card) you get vouchers twice a year, I think you earn 2 points for every £1 you spend, and 1 point = 1p towards a voucher. Not much at all but better than nothing if you're making big purchases.

DartmoorDoughnut · 31/10/2016 22:17

Has anyone heard from queen?? I'm not on the FB group but is she? Really hope there's an update and all is ok!

barkingtreefrog · 31/10/2016 23:05

tip we had our first birth and parenting class at the hospital this evening. We were told the mucus plug tells you your body is getting ready for labour but could easily still be two or more weeks away.

Dartmoor I've been thinking the same! Not sure if she's in the fb group but haven't heard anything in there.

I am in agony with the spd today. Usually it's okay during the day and only hurts when I'm walking, but today it has been painful all. the. time. Like you've slipped on your bike and landed heavily on the crossbar between your legs, only the pain isn't subsiding.
Lying in bed having tried ice packs and paracetamol and dreading the moment I drift off and move. I could cry it hurts that much. I have no idea what I did to aggravate it. But if it was nothing I did then that's even scarier as it could mean it's just getting worse Sad

duxb · 01/11/2016 08:13

Hi all - hope those of you suffering get some respite.

Happy First November - those babies are even closer now!

Nojo82 · 01/11/2016 08:52

Aw barking hope it eases a bit. The pain is awful, sleep is agony so i feel ut pain.

Doesn't seem to be anything from queen on the fb page.

Hope all is ok tip. I lost my muscu plug with first and he was born 2 days later, 2nd and 3rd I was already in early labour (but they were all overdue).

Can finally say im due nxt month. Getting so real now. Ive yet to pack my bag but i honestly dont feel in any rush.

Getting my heart monitor put on tomorrow, its to stay on for 24hrs..

DartmoorDoughnut · 01/11/2016 09:01

Oh barking that sounds horrific Sad

I really MUST get the bag packed! Less than 5 weeks to go Confused baby's bedroom being painted this week then furniture arriving next week so hopefully can get everything sorted next weekend, that's my plan!

SolomanDaisy · 01/11/2016 09:16

barking, could it be the baby's head engaging having an effect on your SPD? Are you on any prescription pain killers? A friend of mine got a consultant referral and was prescribed cocodamol.

wetpebbles, that's amazing at 35
weeks! We've been told by Drs here that they aim for babies to go home by their due date and never before 37 weeks equivalent.

I'm a bit nervous today, DD is having a head ultrasound to check for bleeds and other brain damage.

DartmoorDoughnut · 01/11/2016 09:19

Hand holding soloman Flowers do they have any causes for concern or is it just a standard premie check??

BristolLFR · 01/11/2016 09:41

It's November ladies, which means we are having our babies NEXT MONTH!

Some of us this month!

Bonkers.

KitKat1985 · 01/11/2016 09:46

Oh I hope everything is alright with your lovely DD Soloman. Hopefully it's just a precautionary thing. Flowers

TipBoov not trying to scare you but my DD arrived within 12 hours of me losing my mucus plug. However it can happen sometimes weeks before baby is due to arrive. I'd be making sure you are all packed and ready though just in case.

Barking that sounds awful. I agree with talking to your doctor as they can prescribe codeine if the pain is unmanageable.

With my due date of the 28th November I am now due this month (and DD1 was a few days early, so I'm kind of thinking any time from late November is likely, and technically I'm full-term [I.E, 37 weeks] from next week)! I'm alternating with panicking about the birth, wanting to put the baby's arrival off so that I can just enjoy some time off work for a bit with DD, and getting bloody uncomfortable at night and just wanting this baby out now!

OP posts:
Londonmamabychance · 01/11/2016 10:06

Barking poor you! that sounds absolutely terrible to be in so much pain! can't you gp prescripe you something a bit stronger? I think generally now when the babies are so big, they're a bit more relaxed around waht you're allowed to take.

Solomon hope everything with you DD is fine, fingers crossed.

goinggreggy congrats on being on mat leave finally!

and hope everyone is feeling reasonably comfortable today, although i guess we're getting to a stage where it's rare to feel completely fine!

I thnakfully managed to sleep this night, only fromn midnight till 7am when I had to get up for work, bt sooo much better than no sleep like last night! Had something loike a panic attack when I was trying to fall alseep though, everytime I was about to drift off I felt as if I was loosing conscience rather than falling asleep, probably because I was so tired, and suddenyl I felt so scared of everything and the birth, and started to cry and woke up poor DH and commaneded him to hug me for an entire hour.

Think what suddenyl struck me last night and scared me was how soon the birth is (due Dec 12th) and how much I still haven't sorted. Mainly, I jsut feel so worried about suddenyl having two kids! suddenyl I feel that DD is herself still a baby (she's just turned two) and how will she cope with the new baby?

and secondly, my mum is only coming two weeks before my due date, so if I'm earlier than that, I'll actually have to go to the hospital and give birth on my own Shock as no one else can look after DD. I thought I could deal but now I feel I would freak out completely. I think I need to make some back-up plan, but the problem is that ALL my friends live far away, work or have kids of their own. And my two occassional nannies are busy young students. But maybe I'll just have to ask as many people as possible if they would mind being on our emergency list, to either come and look after DD or for DH to go and drop of DD with them, if I'm earlier than two weeks. Alternatively, i was wondering if it's possible top wish for a home birth if it's earlier than two weeks? and then say if it's later, then a hospital one? may ask mw.

Popskipiekin · 01/11/2016 12:56

Tip any news post-plug? hope baby stays in there for another week or so at least.
barking you poor poor thing - do you think you/consultants would consider early induction (from 37 weeks I mean, not just yet) if the pain seriously gets too much to cope with?
Solomon good luck with the scan.
Londonmama I know what you mean re DC2 vs DC1 being "just a baby". DS will be 2.2 and he is still totally oblivious, really not aware of situation despite all our efforts. I'm so scared it will be total shock to him and he'll be confused and miserable. But - I think I shouldn't be, as lots of friends have been in similar situations and say their older child/children have adapted very well.
Had a midwife check-up today and happily baby seems to have got the right idea and is head down. Just stay like that please!!

barkingtreefrog · 01/11/2016 13:17

Thanks for all the sympathy, currently feeling very sorry for myself on the sofa! Unfortunately codeine makes me vomit, and paracetamol isn't doing anything, so there's not much I can do pain relief wise.
Just really, really glad I'm booked in for a c section as that's a week earlier than my due date. Four weeks and three days and don't want to go a day over!!

Solomon hope the scan goes okay and gives you reassurance.

Nojo hope the heart monitor goes okay tomorrow.

Londonmamabychance · 01/11/2016 14:11

Popski Yes, I think they're too small too understand. DD now calls everyone's belly "baby" and will not accept when I try to teach her 'only mummy's belly is baby', yours is belly'. To add to the confusion, she has a baby doll named baby, and I often call DH baby! Grin
