I wonder how many will be born in november, if this baby follows in dd1 and ds' footsteps I could have an end on November baby, if she follows her other 2 sisters she'll be in December fairly close to her actual due date, which is dp's birthday! If she manages 3 days before then, on the 6th, that'll be my birthday Grin

Nojo82 · 30/10/2016 12:24

bigfam if my baby follows suit with his big brothers he will be born in the new year..

Bigfam · 30/10/2016 12:46

My first baby, dd1, wasn't actually due til the 6th of January, so when my labour started on the 18th I was sort of in denial thinking, she's not due til nearly a week into the new year, what's she playing at trying to arrive BEFORE christmas Grin
She was born 4.37am on the 19th

Lovewatchingrainfall · 30/10/2016 13:32

Any news on how queen is getting on??

If this baby follows my DD it will arrive 5weeks early so will be my birthday. Hopefully not tho.

Londonmamabychance · 30/10/2016 14:50

Dartmoor oh you're Right, everyone's different ; )

Nojo poor you with the pain hope you feel better soon! I have a memory foam mattress topper and it's a lifesaver. I have to say that doing a few yoga/ strength exercises every other day also makes all the difference in the world. If I haven't done it for a week I start getting pains. Can really recommend just basic squats, just a few of them help, or just a cat/cow stretch.

Hardly slept this night was just so generally uncomfortable without any specific pain and bubble kicked like mad! So stayed in bed till 11 while DH played with DD.

For anyone who's Further yet along or just remember what it was like last time if they have more than one, if you don't have spd or any complications, how did you find cleaning in the weeks before giving birth and right after? We have a weekly cleaner now because we both work full time and on weekends there's enough to do with laundry and general other housework, and it gives us a bit of time to do something nice on the weekend. But now I'm considering if it's excessive and wasteful to keep her once I go on mat leave in two weeks at 36 weeks, or if I'll have problems cleaning just before giving birth and straight after? Also, our current cleaner isn't very good and I was considering replacing her either way but finding someone else is a pain, and also money will be quite tight on maternity leave. But don't want to end up being stressed about cleaning and DH is home 7.30 Mon-Fri and already does all the cooking.

Lovewatchingrainfall · 30/10/2016 15:16

London I really struggled with the cleaning when pregnant last time. And I'm only 34weeks now and a SAHM and find the cleaning is hard but I push my way through it as it needs doing. I think if you could keep the cleaner or get a different one and maybe cut down to once every other week or only once a month for a deep clean then it would be handy. But as you say it all depends on money.

wetpebbles · 30/10/2016 15:42

Hi, another one to add to December. My due date was Jan 1st but has been brought forward as consultant wants me induced at 38 weeks so December 18th now. My last 2 were born ar 37 weeks and I expect another early baby. Team pink! Hospital bag packed today now its getting exciting!

Nojo82 · 30/10/2016 15:43

Im struggling with housework. DH quite often will do a good bit before going to work but thats bcos ive had problems with this pregnancy. Slightest thing will bring my heart rate up.

Does a hot bath help with spd.. ive only got Radox muscle bath salts, will that help..

Bigfam · 30/10/2016 15:52

wetpebbles welcome!! I've packed (most of) my hospital bag, just got to wash baby's clothes and pack hers.

I'm hating the housework at the moment, but unfortunately I've hit the nesting phase, the washing machine seems to be going non stop (there's 7 of us) and once I think about putting my feet up for 5 minutes I always find something else to do... I'll be the same after the birth and just generally all the time, I'm a bit of a clean freak 😧

firawla · 30/10/2016 16:42

london we have a cleaner and I'm definitely keeping her after having the baby too, it just makes my life so much easier. Have loads of sorting out to do still, and I'm finding it hard to get the energy so everything is taking ages! Ds2 was sick everywhere last night too, so lots of extra laundry today - hoping the rest of them don't get it, they're supposed to be back to school on tues, I could do with the peace and quiet!!

wetpebbles welcome!

SouthDownsSunshine · 30/10/2016 17:00

We had to let our cleaner go as we couldn't afford her :( But I'm thinking of getting a new one for the next few weeks and the first few months. We'll have to tighten our belt elsewhere.

nojo I've found pilates helps soooo much with my spd. I can really tell the weeks I've missed it. I also delegate trolley and pushchair pushing as much as possible. And sleep with a pillow between my knees. I also borrowed a support band from a friend which helps on bad days (but I can't use everyday as it makes the rib pain worse).

I really must pack my hospital bag! I've got everything, and baby's hospital bag is packed, but I keep wearing the items that are supposed to be in my bag, like nighties, leggings etc.

TMI but is anyone else struggling with swollen lady bits? The last few days it's been crazy, I couldn't bear to wear jeans today!

Lovewatchingrainfall · 30/10/2016 17:14

Omg Southdown yes!!! I have to change what trousers I wear. I don't know if it's normal or not.

DartmoorDoughnut · 30/10/2016 17:20

london to be fair my constant snacking obvs didn't help with the weight reduction Grin

Oh and I second the cat stretch or whatever it's called, on all fours arching and sagging back - not sure if that's the right description! - but it def helps ease everything off

OrianaBanana · 30/10/2016 17:49

Sorry to lower the tone but Oh Dear GOD the constipation and the piles!!! Just had to spend about an hour in the loo in great pain and I swear when I finally managed it, something split! The piles are now massive and as a PP mentioned the lady bits are swollen too so it really hurts front and back and I'm walking like I've already given birth! I drink loads of water, eat prunes, take Fybogel, just been on a long walk; nothing seems to work Sad Sad

DH is repulsed by any mention of such things so I had to moan somewhere, sorry!!

StubbleTurnips · 30/10/2016 17:54

Not sure how serious the pain needs to be for a referral with spd, my midwife seems to think I'm not in enough pain yet Hmm

I have to say that taking a paracetamol to get out of bed worked a treat this morning, and being on the birthing ball seems to ease it.

We've finally finished DDs room (she's well chuffed with it), so Turnip2s nursery is free for sorting! I've cleared it out and got the first lot of 0-3 / baby stuff washing sorted - we spent the weekend deep cleaning upstairs. Need to find the car seats and get them cleaned next.

Bigfam · 30/10/2016 18:08

OrianaBanana oh no that sounds bloody awful! Hope you're ok, tut tut to your dh though, he should be more sympathetic! But you're right, we'll listen with open arms. I'm the opposite, seem to be going to the loo loads, when I need to I get cramps that scare me every single time too!

OrianaBanana · 30/10/2016 18:13

DH is not being terribly supportive about anything much to be honest. I am trying to remember he has CFS and it's not easy for him but he's out a lot and actually made himself dinner and forgot to make me any last night. Hmm I don't feel at all 'looked after' and sometimes that just makes me feel a bit sad. Particularly when hormonal (most of the time)! Wink

livelyredjellybean · 30/10/2016 18:46

Are anyone else's swollen lady bits itchy too...? I am struggling to work out whether I have thrush again or if its just the heat and swelling making it itch! (Sorry for tmi, but no discharge this time...)

Hehehehe just grossed my DP out - I am also starting to have leaky boobs and he was totally not prepared for the colour of the milk!!!

SouthDownsSunshine · 30/10/2016 19:14

lively yes a bit. Not comfy!

oriana that sounds a bit rubbish of your dh :( mine is good around the house and with dd, but he's a total grump and it does my head in.

Nojo82 · 30/10/2016 19:18

Yep very itchy dowm below last night. Gp prescribed me canasten cream. So it has eased.

Pulse is high again, it just wipes me out so will prob fall asleep shortly. Got my heart monitor this week..

RenaissanceWren · 30/10/2016 19:50

Can I join you all please?

I am currently 35 weeks, due on December 1st, still team yellow. I lurked about a few of these threads earlier on, but I didn't have a username to post. It's really getting real now so I thought I'd better make one!

I think the baby is currently lying with the head right above my belly button and bum sticking out my right side, so I'm obsessing about staying in 'good' positions for him or her to turn. Also suffering from leg cramps and pain at night, so big sympathy to all the others with the same trouble!

Surf25 · 30/10/2016 20:31

Hi everyone. Thanks for adding me to your list kitkat - feel part of team December now! Would during how all the new babies and mums are getting on today.
Ten days to work and very much looking forward to some down time before dc4 and 5 make their appearance! Need to get organised, everyone inspiring me with the talk of hospital bags and early deliveries!
Sending empathy to those with pain down below and cramps at night. Excruciating! It's when it comes on and I always try to stand up on the affected leg as soon as possible but am so big I just can't stand up quickly enough and then it is full blown whole leg cramp! Argh! Anyway, all in a good cause..!
Oriana that sounds hard with your dh. Hope things improve. Not easy! My emotions are all a bit up and down at the minute and I am very sensitive to feeling not looked after at times, so I empathise.

Londonmamabychance · 30/10/2016 21:43

Oriana so sorry to hear that, I feel your pain as I also struggled with massive piles a while back. Mentioned it before and I there's mixed opinions amongst people's gp's/midwifes, but my gp prescribed me the Anusol with hydrocortisone and I used it for just two days and it cleared up the piles. He said it was okay for the baby as long as didn't use for too long. Also sorry your DH is not as supportive as you'd like, hope it gets better! My DH was not as supportive as I wanted him to be in my first pregnancy (can't remember if this is your first or second, sorry, so many people on here!) and we argued a fair bit and I really tried to make him understand how tired and physically uncomfortable I was. In the end he started to understand and improve! I think it also helped that some friend of his send him a book on pregnant women and how to be supportive, think it was kind of a tongue in cheek one, but it apparently gave him the phrase that a pregnant women's brain is 're-wired' and even though I found it a bit oversimplified, it clearly helped him to understand my altered state and how much support I needed. This time round he's had a fee slip-ups with coming home late and super drunk, and a few times being less helpful that's I would have liked, and I have NOT been gentle on him Angry he's massively apologised and for the last month been very supportive and understanding. I don't know your exact situation and relationship of course, but just to say that you deserve all the support in the world, and I think you're in your right to let him know that loud and clear. You're creating and nurturing a child for the both of you, and it's his job to do all in his power to make that easier on you! You really have my sympathy, because I vividly remember how alone and uncared for I sometimes felt in my first pregnancy and have a few times this time round too Flowers. It can also depend on how he's grown up, if his dad wasn't a supportive type of husband it can be hard for him to know what to do. You may need to help show/explain it to him. My DH's dad is from a culture and time where men were hardly involved in childcare, birth and housework, and his parents divorced and he grew up with a single mum. So he didn't really have a great role model, so because I understand his background it helps me sometimes to be less mad at him and apprsaciatr how far he's come.

barkingtreefrog · 30/10/2016 23:45

My DH has been amazing, but it's taken us a long five years to get here and this is our forth pregnancy (lost three in first tri) on our final round of IVF, and we lost one of twins at the start after a lot of bleeding when we thought it was all over again, so he has very much wrapped me in cotton wool and done absolutely everything for me.

Having said that, he finds the moving bump 'freaky' and thinks my ever changing belly button (keeps threatening to become an outy, then seems to have a crater around it, then goes flat again?!) is 'ugh' and the linea negra(??) is 'just weird'. When he asked what had arrived from Amazon and I said it was maternity pads and breast pads, he asked why I couldn't just put some tissue down my bra....
And he doesn't want to know about my piles!!!

I asked the midwife last week and she said anything I could buy over the counter was fine, so I've stepped up to the anusol with steroids as well. Not having a huge effect yet other than making a mess in my knickers (the cream!).

I've also got swollen lady bits. They're not looking like they used to and I'm a bit Hmm about whether they'll ever be the same again?!

I have been doing all the exercises for the spd pain, and I have a second exercise ball in the bedroom now, so when everything seizes up in the night I can get out of bed and sit on it for a few minutes before getting back into bed and trying again.
I've also tried the folded spare duvet underneath me tonight along with the five pillows. We shall see if I manage a better night! Can't say I'm not trying everything!!

OrianaBanana · 31/10/2016 06:58

Thanks ladies! My midwife didn't seem to want me to use the anusol with hydrocortisone but told me to ask the receptionist to get the GP to prescribe something, so that's going to be a fun conversation! Still, if it helps it's worth it!

We have one DS who was fairly hard work as a baby - not helped by DH's health issues (he has chronic fatigue syndrome) and possibly me having PND and him almost losing his job at the same time. It was a bad time. As a result he was/is terrified of a second and mainly 'gave in' because I really wanted one, for us and for DS. So I feel I ought to try and 'manage' but it's really an attitude I'm looking for from him, something to show he actually cares if I eat/am comfortable etc, rather than trying to get out all the time and act like nothing has changed. I don't know, I suppose we need to have a talk but I keep trying to protect him IYSWIM.
