Can I join please? Bit late but only just found this thread. Due 25th December batting for team blue. Had my 32 week midwife appointment this morning & she said his head was engaged which freaked me out a bit because it made me realise how close we're getting to him actually arriving! Hope everyone is doing well & congratulations to those who have already had their little ones Grin

Nojo82 · 27/10/2016 19:41

natalie due date buddy.. my babys head is engaged too..

WyfOfBathe · 27/10/2016 20:54

I feel like baby's head might be engaged too, the pressure has definitely moved lower. I guess I'll find out at MW appt next week.

I'm feeling increasingly uncomfortable now (at 33wks) and I'm not sure of my decision to not start mat leave until I'm almost 39 weeks! But on the other hand I want as much time as I can with baby once she's here.

DartmoorDoughnut · 27/10/2016 20:58

I'm massively owey now, proper fanny daggers, had one earlier that made my legs shoot open whilst I shouted OW, pregnancy is such fun!

Popskipiekin · 27/10/2016 21:19

Fanny daggers! 😂 but not actually that funny of course Dartmoor Hope yours manages to lay off the cervical stabbing enough to let you sleep.

nataliefruit · 27/10/2016 21:21

OMG the term fanny daggers just made me laugh out loud - don't know why it tickled me so much because what its describing obviously isn't funny at all.

Nice to know it's not just me potentially having a little one when everyone else is having their Christmas dinner Mojo! Grin The head being engaged sounds so scary even though there's still a good 8 weeks left to go so it's extremely unlikely anything will happen earlier just sounds scary! This is my first too so not really sure what the expect - 40 weeks sounded so long 31 weeks ago! Grin proper hoofs to the lungs / diaphragm tonight too - this is going to get fun!

I am getting a bit scared if I'm honest with myself - I know he has to come out at some point but labour sounds so very scary now it's potentially only just over 8 weeks away.

Can I ask as well; of those who work what week are you taking maternity leave from? I'm working up to 37 weeks but starting to get a bit knackered so lucky enough to take annual leave every Friday in November so this is technically my last full week at work Shock Wyf, I am completely in awe of you working until 39 weeks but like you say it gives as much time with baba when they arrive.

StubbleTurnips · 27/10/2016 21:29

Working until 38w here, on 3 day weeks until I go though.

I'm actually looking forward to labour - as then I know this bloody pelvic pain will finally piss off!!

barkingtreefrog · 27/10/2016 21:45

grapefruit have sent you a friend request so I can add you.
Nojo it's a private message through mumsnet. On my phone it's at the top right, a head and shoulders icon.

I will definitely be packing my hospital bag (and buying stuff for it first!) when I get home next week!

C section 5 weeks tomorrow, hope the baby holds out.

Not being at work is definitely helping with the spd pain, still need the crutches and support belt to leave the house but okay walking around inside as long as I don't sit or lie for too long in the same position so I avoid seizing up.

barkingtreefrog · 27/10/2016 22:16

PS fanny daggers is spot on. I was trying to describe the SPD pain to a friend the other day. I said it was just like when you slip off your bike and land with the crossbar between your legs. Only a sharper pain. And it keeps coming.
Please let me not be one of the women who still has it after birth!!!! A friend was still suffering for three months afterwards Sad. Hopefully the C section will minimise the chances of it getting any worse during labour at any rate.

DartmoorDoughnut · 27/10/2016 22:24

I'm just glad they're only one offs! Massive sympathy to those with spd/pains constantly. Only get them when I've pushed too much aka long dog walk/too much rough housing with the lunatic toddler!

bigfam how are the kids doing?

barking jealous your section is before mine!! Although quite glad for you given the crutches and everything!

Surf25 · 27/10/2016 22:36

Hi everyone, I wonder if I can join too? Originally was on the January group but having identical twins so they will be born at 36 weeks if we make it that far, which makes me due a few days before Christmas. Haven't been given a firm date for induction yet. They will be dc4 and 5 for us! Was chatting with bigfam on another thread and she kindly suggested joining here, where I see there are a few other twins and a few babies who have all arrived! Congratulations to all! And hope the new wee arrivals are growing stronger and stronger.

peanutbutter2409 · 27/10/2016 23:36

Massively relieved as the scan showed the swelling on our baby's head is caused just by the bruising and is not fluid or blood on the brain. Thank god! Please, please do pack your hospital bags asap. I didn't, but had bought all the bits that were then in various bags, drawers, cupboards etc around the house. As we had to rush to the hospital yesterday morning, I didn't have a chance to sort it before leaving. This meant my husband had to leave me and the baby in neonatal to go back home late last night to pack the bags so we had everything we needed rather than just the notes and my phone that we had turned up with....Really was a job he could've done without! On another note, if you're having a c section, bring everything you can that treats trapped wind. I've never known pain like this - bar the contractions I was having yesterday and that's no exaggeration!!

WyfOfBathe · 27/10/2016 23:50

Wyf, I am completely in awe of you working until 39 weeks thanks Grin When I was 20-something weeks and announced when I would take maternity leave, I felt great and was really enjoying my pregnancy, plus two of my colleagues in the last year-or-so have worked up until their due dates and managed fine.

This week I have considered changing it but I wouldn't be able to give in a letter until Monday (half term/teacher) and then 28 days' notice would give me until 28 Nov - and I'm leaving on 5 Dec anyway so that would only by 8 days earlier. And I'm thinking that those 8 days would be better spent with baby than moping around the house on my own Wink

barkingtreefrog · 28/10/2016 03:44

peanut that's great news Grin
What treats trapped wind?

I spoke too soon about the SPD getting slightly better after leaving work, obviously overdid it yesterday on the crutches and have been waking up in pain since midnight. Sad
I was originally going to work up to 39 weeks but I seem to have struggled throughout with insomnia, exhaustion, sickness, SPD pain etc and have not had a period where I've actually felt good at all, so I'm just overwhelmingly relieved to have finished work now (currently annual leave, officially mat leave after another week). As I'm planning to go back in September for the start of the new school year it was irrelevant in terms of how much time I'd get off with the baby afterwards.

Theaks · 28/10/2016 06:49

I really must get my bag packed. I tried using my cath kidson overnight bag- won't fit in. Will it be silly rocking up with a small suitcase. Seems extreme for hopefully (fingers crossed) a short time!! That's great peanutbutter. Can't believe the babies are coming.
My last day at work today. Slightly nervous and been up since 5:30, worried that I won't get everything done, this week has been so busy. My manager said she can finish anything that I don't, but with working with families I want to finish everything myself. Roll on 5!

StubbleTurnips · 28/10/2016 07:25

theaks I had a small suitcase last time it was fine, was only in 1 night but the case was full. I treated myself to the Tripp holdall when that was on offer in about thread 2 of these Grin

That's probably bigger than my case tbh, but at least it's packed!

Nojo82 · 28/10/2016 08:00

I treated myself to the tripp bag too. Its fab, plenty of room. Thinking of takng babyss changing bag too. Its quite big and will hold all of his stuff..

Theaks · 28/10/2016 08:21

I have Tripp suitcases must be a popular brand! Okay feel better about suitcase now x

VonnieS · 28/10/2016 09:12

Hi, I'm due 4th Dec with what is a big baby boy. Scary moment when the sonographer asked us at an ultrasound which of us whore an xl hat size.... I pointed to hubby and she laughed!! Apparently his huge head is engaged though..... but if he carries on growing I'm having a section, I have one preliminary booked for due date anyway due to problems with my last (big) boy.

Lovewatchingrainfall · 28/10/2016 10:53

I love my tripp hold-all that I brought from thread 2. However have not managed to fit babies things in as well so I have packed the changing bag and will take both with me. Any news on how queen is doing??

SolomanDaisy · 28/10/2016 12:06

I had a massive hospital bag packed and have hardly needed to use any of it! The hospital supply tiny nappies and things and even the tiny baby clothes are too big. It would have been handy to have an extra bag of stuff for me at home.

Peppermint tea's supposed to be good for trapped wind, I've been drinking it and not had any problems.

Glad to hear it's just bruising peanut! How is he doing otherwise?

Nojo82 · 28/10/2016 12:27

Havent even packed my bag yet. Still have to go out and buy breast pads and sanitary pads. Just cant be bothered.

Was totally starved this morning and ate like a pig.. now ive got bad heartburn and feel like im going to vomit. To top it off ive 2 hyper boys at home. Just want to go to be..

barkingtreefrog · 28/10/2016 12:58

Hope you're doing okay queen

Nojo I ordered breast pads, maternity pads, big knickers, lasinoh cream and muslins from Amazon at about 5am when I couldn't sleep!

Another one with the Tripp holdall from the sale that bigfam alerted everyone to, it's still empty though, and not got a changing bag yet but will use that to pack most of the things for the baby as it's essentially just clothes and nappies.

Nojo82 · 28/10/2016 13:38

Lol barking i might just do that.

Bigfam · 28/10/2016 14:10

Thanks for asking dartmoor to put it honestly I had an absolute shit night last night with dd3, but not a lot I can do. Had a midwife apt today, she commented on how my bp was slightly above normal for me, It's normally 100/60 but today was 126/70, she mentioned prehypertension (I shouldn't have googled that, I expect after reading it crept up a few notches too!!) So will be checked again in 2 weeks.
Nice to see you Surf25 Smile
That's great news peanutbutter

I'm a bit disappointed with my tripp holdall barking I can't seem to fit my bloody dressing gown in there along with my other stuff!
